canon au } { post-s4, of valentine's day surprises and meeting moms
Cora: [they had plans for a skype date, since circumstances made it seem like they weren't going to actually be able to see each other. But when Dawn offers her a ride back to Beacon Hills on Friday night, she decides to make entirely new plans of her own, and it leads to her appearing at the Stilinskis front door early in the morning on Saturday, just in time for the sheriff to let her sneak inside. With that, she makes her way upstairs, toeing off her shoes when she gets to his room, shedding her jacket, and climbing into bed next to him]
Stiles: [having the whole self preservation skill set of a sloth when he was asleep, he didn't stir until he felt the warm body pressing in against his back. There was a soft mummer, Cora's name the only one on his lips as some part of his brain felt that it was the last visage of a dream that he was having]
Cora: [she smiles slightly at that, slipping her arm around his waist and tipping her cheek to rest against his shoulder, closing her eyes and sinking into that space next to him. she missed him so much when she was at school, but being here feels like she’s home again]
Stiles: [yup, it will take him about five more minutes to actually recognize that there is a person sleeping against his back. A live person who is warm and nuzzling his shoulder. He’s going to carefully open his eyes and look down at the hands holding him] I really hope that's you, Cora, or I'm going to have a lot of explaining to do...
Cora: [laughs softly before pushing up and peeking over his shoulder at him] Hi.
Stiles: Hi. [and he's going to rotate in his spot so he's facing her] You aren't supposed to be here. Not that I'm complaining but you have college things to be doing.
Cora: Well, Dawn was coming home last night and I had five hours to work on my paper in the car, and since it was mostly done by the time I got here, I figured I could take a day to spend Valentine's Day with my boyfriend.
Stiles: I approve of this plan, and admire your willingness to type while in a car and not get motion sickness.
Cora: It was a trial I willingly suffered, just for you.
Stiles: I guess I'm going to have to figure out a way to make sure I show you how much I appreciate it. Though I guess Maria's going to enjoy your flowers and candy.
Cora: Probably. I like having you better, though.
Stiles: Okay, because that's pretty much all you're getting then. Happy Valentine's Day.
Cora: [grins a bit] Happy Valentine's Day.
Stiles: And I need to go brush my teeth so I can kiss you.
Cora: [nods] Sounds like a plan.
Stiles: You stay right here in the bed. Don't move. [and he's going to crawl over her and all but run to the bathroom to brush his teeth because unlike Scott, Stiles doesn't have an on suite]
Cora: [and she will do as she's told, curling up in his bed and just closing eyes and taking in his scent and the fact that she's here, which feels so much better than being a responsible student]
Stiles: [and under a minute later, rushing back in, brushed and mouthwashed and sliding into bed like it's home plate before pulling the covers back up over them. Not even a hi before he's kissing her]
Cora: [she laughs a bit at that, but that's swallowed into the kiss as it happens. She's quick to relax into him, though, her arms sliding around his shoulders and pulling him closer, because she missed him]
Stiles: [and he will happily kiss and snuggle with her for a bit before he pulls back] My dad's still home, isn't he?
Cora: Probably. When he let me in he went back into the kitchen.
Stiles: So I have to behave. [puppy pouting as his hands pull her closer]
Cora: You do. At least until he leaves. [or they do. She snuggles in closer to him, playing with his shirt as she does] So how would this normally work? I've never done Valentine's Day before.
Stiles: I never... really had one either. I was kinda going with the you buy her flowers and chocolates idea.
Cora: [nods] Which is good, but since I'm here and the flowers and chocolates are there, what should we do?
Stiles: We could um, do the romantic date? Get dressed up, dinner, movie?
Cora: [... there's a quiet moment where she tries and think if she actually owns something to get dressed up in, but she figures she can probably borrow something from Buffy - they're about the same body type. Dawn is too tall] Yeah. I mean, if you want to.
Stiles: Well, that or we don't have to eat fancy. [he actually can't really afford fancy] But we could get pizza and a redbox movie?
Cora: That sounds good too. [honestly she just wants to be with him, in whatever form that may take]
Stiles: Then pizza and movie it is. Maybe some sappy romantic comedy?
Cora: [smirks] Sure. [a beat] Still want to dress up?
Stiles: ... To the pizza place?
Cora: [she shrugs] I meant more if the pizza's coming here, but ... [they don't have to, obviously.]
Stiles: Do you have... something to dress up in?
Cora: ... I was going to ask Buffy?
Stiles: Well, I mean the, yeah, we can totally dress up.
Cora: Okay. So ... it's like we're doing a little of both.
Stiles: Yeah. So um... I could pick you up at Buffy’s? And we can get the movie and then come here and order the pizza?
Cora: Sounds good. [but for now she's just going to lean in to kiss him because she doesn't want to leave yet]
Stiles: [and he doesn't want her to leave. Like, ever. Plus it wasn't a school day so he could just lay around in bed all day even if he may have had like plans with Scott to help me pick out something for Kira but he could push that back a bit]
Cora: [so long as Scott doesn't come climbing in the window out of concern, she is fine with him nudging things back and sinks further into his hold, just feeling warm and snuggly]
Scott: [No, he has learned to text first, even if Cora is supposed to be at Berkley. One accidental boobage is enough]
Stiles: [fingers are brushing through her hair, kissing her and just enjoying his Valentine’s Day surprise for awhile.]
Sheriff: [yup, this is going to be a long day until he goes on duty] Kids, I'm making breakfast if you want it.
Cora: [good boy, Scott. And she enjoys the kissing too, not pulling back too much, but just enough to talk] Hungry?
Stiles: [wait that was a stop in kissing why are we oh yeah] Yeah, dad's probably making breakfast, isn't he?
Cora: [nods] That's what he said.
Stiles: We should probably go down before he comes up.
Cora: [sighs and nods] Okay. [and with that she'll slowly start to extract herself from him]
Stiles: [nope, he's going to pull her back for one more kiss, and then let her go and getting up as well so they can go down and have pancakes and bacon with the Sheriff]
Cora: [she smiles a bit at the kiss and downstairs they go. Mmmmm bacon. She'll take some of that right off the bat]
Sheriff: I didn't think we were going to see you until Spring break, Cora. [sitting down with his coffee while the kids eat]
Cora: Me either. But I found some time and figured it was worth a shot.
Sheriff: Are you going to check in with your brother as well while you're here, or do we get you exclusively?
Cora: I saw him last night. I caught a ride home with Dawn on her way back from campus.
Sheriff: [nods] Well, I have the overnight shift tonight, so can I trust you two to try and behave?
Cora: [her head bobs. Yep. Totally behaving] We're just gonna order some pizza and watch a movie. [though she'll be in a skirt, but the sheriff doesn't have to know that]
Stiles: [nods in agreement] Just a night in watching movies, yup.
Sheriff: [doesn't believe either of you]
Cora: [she can sense that, but she's just going to try and keep the innocent look on her face as she starts eating her pancakes]
Sheriff: [yeah, he was a teenager in love too, once. You kids aren't going to get much past him]
Cora: [and directing the conversation away from them] Is Valentine's Day usually busy for you guys?
Sheriff: At night. Holidays like this tend to have a bit higher of a call rate on domestics.
Cora: [cringes] Really?
Sheriff: Yeah. Not all couples are good with romantic gestures.
Cora: I guess so.
Stiles: Well, don't worry, you’re not going to need to make a call here.
Cora: [she shakes her head] Nope. We'll be fine.
Stiles: Perfect little angels.
Sheriff: You two can stop laying it on so thick.
Cora: [laughs softly because they kind of were] Sorry.
Sheriff: It's alright. I've learned a while ago not to believe anything that comes out of Stiles' mouth anyway.
Stiles: Still sitting right here.
Cora: Sometimes it's at least half true? [so helpful]
Stiles: I don't know if that's helpful or not.
Sheriff: [laughs]
Cora: Well, better half-truths than total lies?
Stiles: [huffs and goes to eat his pancakes]
Sheriff: So, Are you two going to join me at the cemetery today?
Cora: [looks up and blinks]
Stiles: Crap that's right. Um. [looks at Cora] Flowers for mom.
Cora: Oh. [there's a pause because she isn't entirely sure what to do here, and she doesn't want to intrude on that] Uh, I have to go see Buffy anyway. I ... [her mouth works for a moment] If you guys need time.
Sheriff: [looks at Stiles, nodding his head]
Stiles: Well, if you want. Or um... do you want to meet my mom?
Cora: [she feels a little on the spot, because she doesn't want to say no, but there's a large part of her that doesn't really know what to do. She glances between the two of them for a moment before shrugging slightly] Do you want me to?
Stiles: Only if you want to. I mean, it's not like she's going anywhere. You can come another time...?
Cora: Okay. [there's a part of the nerves that slips out of her shoulders and she nods a bit] That might be ... better. [she doesn't want to intrude on their time with her and if they do it another time it at least gives her time to prepare a little more.]
Stiles: Alright. So we can go do this, and then I can do Scott and then come up to pick you up for dinner at Buffy's.
Cora: [nods in agreement] Sounds good.
Sheriff: I won't keep him long, I promise.
Cora: [there's a small smile before she shakes her head] Take as long as you need.
