spamalot } { of missing babies and almost heart attacks

Cora: [Ben sleeping through the night has started becoming more and more prominent over the past few weeks and while it wasn't happening every night, she was taking her victories where she had them. So when she rouses with her alarm at first she thinks it's a good thing, and the room is very quiet, but she'll slide her way out of bed and go to see if the baby is awake. When she gets to the nursery, however, her response is a very panicked] STILES!

Stiles: [no, he heard that and he's up and out of bed right away, running to the nursery] What, what is it?

Cora: He's gone. The baby's gone. [and there, in the middle of the room, is an empty crib where a baby boy should be, and she's just going to pull away from him and start searching the room]

Stiles: Okay. [yeah, that's not good, and he's going to help her]

Cora: [and the room will turn up empty, as will their bedroom, but his sister might be roused by the sound of him pulling things out of the linen closet in the bathroom]

Dina: [nope, crit failed that. dead to the world]

Stiles: Wait, Cora stop. Hold on. You're a werewolf.

Cora: [she glances back to him and frowns] What?

Stiles: You're a werewolf. Stop for a second and just listen.

Cora: [... oh. duh. She pauses before closing her eyes, seeking out the tiny baby heartbeat and once she has a lock on it she will follow it, making her way to find Ben, sitting on the bathroom floor in a pile of towels banging an extra roll of toilet paper against the floor]

Stiles: [and he will follow her, and then he's chuckling] Looks like someone wanted a midnight bath.

Cora: [some of the panic sags out of her immediately and she makes her way forward to scoop him up and pull him against her. he looks up at her with a bright smile with NO idea the hell he just put her through] Or he just wanted to scare the crap out of Mommy.

Stiles: At least he stayed upstairs. When Dina got out of her crib for the first time, she was downstairs in the pantry covered in flour.

Cora: [sighs softly as Ben just looks like the happiest baby in the world] Still scary.

Stiles: I'll go pull Dina's GPS bracelet out of storage in the morning. We can ankle monitor our little escapee that way.

Cora: Will that actually work?

Stiles: As long as the battery is charged and he doesn't figure out how to take it off... yeah.

Cora: He figured out how to get out of the crib. I'm not sure it would take him long to figure out how to escape the ankle bracelet.

Stiles: We can see. At least it will give us a way to find him.

Cora: True.

Stiles: [goes to pick Ben up] You want to tell your mommy that you're sorry for giving her a heart attack?

Ben: Bahahhahhahh manah.

Stiles: [looks at Cora] He's very sorry.

Cora: I'm sure he is. [sighs] What am I going to do with you? [to Ben]

Ben: [is going to reach out and tug on his dad's ear]

Stiles: Ow, careful with daddy, Benji. He doesn't fix himself like mommy can.

Cora: [laughs softly] C'mon. I think it's time for breakfast.

Stiles: You go start it. I think this guy needs some clean up first down below

Cora: [nods] Eggs sound good?

Stiles: Can you make the yokes runny and some toast?

Cora: [she nods] Sure.

Stiles: Alright. See you in a bit.

Cora: [and off she goes to start making breakfast for everybody, but she'll swing over and knock on Parrish and Lydia's door and say breakfast before heading to the kitchen]

Stiles: [and he will be changing the baby, and then going to wake up Dina]

Parrish: [stirs, his eyes blinking awake and looking at the clock]

Lydia: [grumbles as she feels him move] Stay.

Parrish: Mmmm, staying with you verses food. The ongoing struggle.

Lydia: The food will still be there when we're done.

Parrish: True. [and he will nestle back against her]

Lydia: [sighs and gets comfy. Good boyfriend]

Stiles: [and he will join Cora, putting Ben in his high chair and going for the cheerios] I think Dina's getting another cold.

Cora: Oh no. Maybe we should get one of those cold lozenge things.

Stiles: I'll see if we have any left. But we should be prepared to have her want to cling to one of us all day.

Cora: I can take it. She can't get me sick.

Stiles: Good. Then I'll stick with Ben. We can have a boys’ day.

Cora: Maybe you can take him downstairs to hang out with Lucy and Jake.

Stiles: I could...

Cora: Did you have other plans?

Stiles: No, not really. It's Saturday.

Cora: [she gives a small shrug] You can do whatever you want. I just figured it's an option if you wanted something less Ben intensive.

Stiles: This free time to myself... I don't know what this is...

Cora: [she laughs] Don't get used to it. It's going to become less and less.

Stiles: So does that mean I should flee from the house immediately?

Only if you're taking the baby with you or have somewhere to take him because if there's anything worse than a sick six year-old, it's a sick baby.

Stiles: [thinks, then grabs the baby and goes for the pre-packed diaper bag in the closet] Let's go see if Uncle Derek wants nephew time, Benji.

Cora: [nods with a smile] Good plan.

Stiles: [and off he will go downstairs]
