[And as Parrish is driving home from work one night, he happens to come across a very naked Laura Hale who may have just dug her way out of her own grave.]

Laura: [turns and blinks at him, her eyes taking in the deputy's uniform and filing that information away, before taking the jacket and responding bluntly] Nope. [nothing about any of this is okay] What's today?

Parrish: [nods, because her acknowledging that something was wrong is a step in the right direction. He tells her the day] Can I help take you home?

Laura: [nope, sorry, she's just going to be floored by the date for a second as she slides the jacket around her shoulders. She's tiny enough that it covers her frame, and cold enough that she's going to zip it up without prompting as she tries to find the words] I don't think I have one. Not ... not here, anyway.

Parrish: Alright. Well, I'm Deputy Jordan Parrish. Why don't you let me get you into the car, and I can take you to the hospital and we can get you looked at and see if we can get you some clothes, maybe something to eat and figure out what I can do to help? That sound fair?

Laura: [shakes her head] No hospital. And no police station. [because she's pretty sure that if that much time has passed, she's dead and god only knows what could have happened to Derek in that time. She needs to warn him. About Peter. About what he was going to do] I need ... [her head feels fuzzy and her body feels slow] ... Food. Food would be good. And clothes. Nothing against your jacket but I don't think they'll let me anywhere you can eat without at least shoes, if not pants.

Parrish: [nods. He needs to go against procedure, but lately he's learning that sometimes you just need to bend rules when in Beacon Hills] You look like you're my roommate's size. If you're comfortable with that, I can bring you home and get something from her. We have food there too, and you'll be safe.

Laura: [it's a toss up. With her just back from the dead abilities she can barely tell if Parrish is human, let alone whether or not he's a threat, but she knows that sometimes you need to extend a little faith. And if she knows anything about her current shape, she at least has claws. She nods as she starts to head to the car, before pulling to a stop] This is kind of an out there question, but do you know if Derek Hale is in Beacon Hills? [because if she knows anything about Derek, if he didn't hear from her, he would have come. And she just hopes he didn't wind up dead in the process]

Parrish: [blinks at that question and stops and looks at her a moment] Yeah, he is, along with his sister Cora. [nope, not mentioning Peter. Parrish is a firm believer on that asshole needs to be locked up]

Laura: [at the mention of Cora her face pales even more, if possible, and she just stares at him for a moment, her heart pounding hard in her chest] Cora's alive?

Parrish: Last I checked. Which was yesterday, if that helps. [he goes to hold open the passenger side door]

Laura: [yep, nope, they're going somewhere else] Take me to Derek's.

Parrish: Here, get in and let me call him and see if he's at his place first. [because again, things, Laura. Things you don't know]

Laura: [nods and gets in the car, but if he doesn't take her she's just going to go herself so ... you might as well start off driving]

Parrish: [goes to start driving, calling Derek. who left the cell phone in the kitchen]

Buffy: [which means a certain Slayer will be picking it up while the Hales get some family time] Derek's phone, Buffy speaking.

Parrish: Hey Buffy, it’s Jordan. [because he wouldn't introduce himself as Parrish, right?] I have a young lady here that's looking for Derek. Can I speak with him?

Laura: [at the mention of Buffy's name, she sags slightly in relief. If Buffy's with Derek then at least there's a marginal chance that Peter hasn't managed to get his claws into him - literally or figuratively]

Buffy: Uhh - sure. [she quietly pads up the stairs to the bedroom, placing a hand on Derek's shoulder gently to wake him] Derek. It's Parrish, he says it's important.

Derek: [stirs, then nods. He manages to pull himself out of the Hale puppy pile, a small whine of protest from Peter before he curls back up more with Cora in his sleep, and then heads out the door with her before taking the phone.] Parrish?

Parrish: Derek, I've got a young lady here I found on the side of the road who I'm bringing back to your loft. Are you there or can you meet us there?

Derek: [looks at Buffy, confused] Who is it?

Parrish: [blinks, and then looks at Laura] I didn't get your name...

Laura: [her hearing is still futzing so she can't quite make out what's happening on the other end of the line. When Parrish asks her her name, she hesitates for a moment, before swallowing] Laura. My name is Laura.

Derek: [nope, his hearing is more than perfect and he knows his sister's voice and his eyes widen] I'll meet you there. Take her in the back entrance.

Parrish: You know her?

Derek: I do. Give me ten minutes.

Buffy: [that reaction isn't ... good. Or is it?] What is it?

Laura: [not being able to werewolf eavesdrop is very frustrating] What'd he say?

Parrish: Alright. Meet you there. [hangs up] He'll meet us there.

Derek: [hangs up, staring off a moment before looking at Buffy] Looks like people really don't stay dead in this town. Parrish has Laura.

Buffy: [blinks] Your sister Laura? The one the Argents cut in half?

Laura: [nods a bit, before shifting to lean against the door as he drives. She isn't really sure what to say, but he obviously doesn't know who she is, so at least he's not freaking out about having a dead girl in his car]

Derek: [licks his lips] The Argents didn't kill Laura, Buffy. Peter did. Before he was fully cognizant and with help from his nurse.

Parrish: My place is on the way if you want me to still grab you clothes?

Laura: [she shakes her head] Just get me to Derek.

Buffy: No, I know. But ... it's kind of hard to resurrect a body in those kinds of pieces without serious mojo.

Derek: Seeing that I died and evolved into a wolf two days ago... I'm still in a place where I'm not sure what is and isn't possible with my family anymore.

Parrish: Alright. We'll probably beat him there.

Laura: Good. [and with that she'll be quiet for the rest of the drive]

Buffy: Just be careful. [there's a beat] Do you want me to go with you? Just in case she's ... not actually Laura? [because someone needs to say it]

Derek: [his eyes go back to the other room] Someone needs to stay and watch Peter. [in case he reverts back to crazy uncle]

Buffy: [she nods] Want me to call Lindsay then?

Derek: Does Laura know Lindsay?

Buffy: [she shakes her head] We picked her up on the way to Scotland.

Derek: Have her come here then, and you come with me. Cora can handle Peter for an hour.

Buffy: [nods as she reaches for her own phone to text Lindsay and get her to the safe house] You drive.

Derek: Obviously. [he's seen you drive, Buffy. Not happening]

Laura: [her nose is starting to work as they get to the loft and when Parrish opens the door she's immediately hit with the scent of Derek .... followed by a pile of wolves she doesn't quite recognize. It takes a bit of time, but as she steps through the door, she blinks when she catches another scent that's familiar] Dawn?

Parrish: [goes to reclose and lock the door, then crossing to turn off the alarm] Yeah, she's been staying here too. I think - if I have the flow chart right - is with Derek.

Laura: [there's a pause, and she takes a few steps forward, following the scents to what has to be Derek's bedroom and a small smile crosses her face. Yep. They're together.] Good for them.

Parrish: So how do you know all of them anyway? [though from what he can see through the dirt and such, she looks a lot like Cora]

Laura: [she swallows hard, before turning back to face him] I'm Derek's sister. Older sister.

Parrish: Oh. I... I thought the rest of his family was dead.

Laura: Yep. [let's not get into it. She looks down at her hands and the dirt covering them and glances back to him] I'm going to shower. I should ... [she shouldn't look like she just dug herself out of her own grave. the grave that Derek probably put he in. God, how many family members has he had to bury at this point? Far too many.] I should clean up. [and with that, she'll go into the bedroom and fish out a pair of shorts and a Henley of her brother's that will fit her before going in search of the bathroom]

Parrish: Alright I will just.... um... stay here.

Laura: [and she'll probably still be in the shower when Derek gets there, because she's going to turn the water on hot and try to keep herself from thinking]

Derek: [and no, he's going to arrive, smelling his sister in the hallway and the loft and rushing in. He sees Parrish sitting on the couch flipping through the bestiary and then looks towards the sound of running water] Is she okay?

Parrish: Yeah, she just took some of your clothes and went to get the dirt off her.

Buffy: [is close behind him, glancing back to him with concern] Does it smell like her?

Derek: [nods] Yeah. Yeah, it does. [and he's happy, but still unsure of how he feels. He's all but restraining himself from running into the bathroom after her]

Parrish: So, you're sister...?

Derek: [both eyebrows up, turning to look at Parrish]

Parrish: Never mind. Another time.

Derek: [just nods]

Laura: [eventually she dries off and get dressed, and she can hear voices, but not well enough to make out who's there. So she just takes a breath and heads out, holding out the jacket to Parrish as she does] Thanks for the loan. [then she turns and looks at Derek and she just stares at him for a moment. Because he's here. He's actually here and he's okay, and not dead and that's really all that matters. Then she remembers that she was and the emotions hit her like a brick wall, tears clouding her eyes before she can stop them] God, Derek, I'm sorry.

Derek: [he just sees her and smiles. There's a lot of emotions tumbling around, but he's gotten good lately in his stint as a human to learn how to sift through them. Which is why he is a nice, solid presence now - not the quiet, emotionally distant young man she would remember - and he can feel that it really is her there, and not some trick. So he walks over and just pulls her into his arms, holding her close] It's alright, Laur. It's alright.

Laura: [yeah, she's just going to break down sobbing, burying her face in his shoulder and holding onto him tightly. She was dead, Peter killed her, and now she's back and she doesn't know how. all she knows is that he's here, and that's all that has to matter right now. Eventually she'll calm and look up at him with a sniffle] I didn't mean to leave you alone.

Derek: [he just holds her through it, his hand cupping the back of her head until she looks back, and she gets a small half smile from him] I know you didn't. But you're here now.

Laura: Yeah. About that. [she fixes him with a bit of a look] What did you do?

Derek: I didn't do anything. I've been a bit preoccupied.

Laura: Then who?

Derek: [shrugs] I don't know. But we'll figure it out.

Laura: [she sighs softly before nodding, just tipping forward and leaning her head into his shoulder again, soaking up the closeness]

Derek: [keeps her close, looking over at Parrish] Thanks for bringing her home.

Parrish: It wasn't anything. She was out there and needed it. Part of my job and all.

Buffy: [glances over to Parrish] Think I could trouble you for a ride back to the safe house? [give Derek and Laura some time to themselves]

Parrish: Sure, I can do that. Lindsay texted me saying she was there, so I can taxi her back home after.

Buffy: Thanks. [she glances back to Laura with a smile] We'll catch up later, okay?

Laura: [nods a bit, before looking up at Derek] Can we get something to eat? Can we get pizza? I want to eat like ... five pizzas.

Derek: [laughs] We can get whatever you want.

Laura: [she grins back at him as Buffy and Parrish leave, and she waits for the door to close before she glances back to Derek] He said that Cora's alive. Is that true?

Derek: Yeah. Buffy and Dawn had her the whole time in Scotland. [he is looking for the pizza menu to hand to her, which he does] She's safe and sound back at the safe house Buffy's established here.

Laura: [there's a part of her that sags at that, and she sinks into the couch, staring at the menu but not really looking at it] Is she okay? I mean, what's she like?

Derek: She's much better than she was when she got back here. She was... well, a lot like me. Distant, not wanting to deal with her emotions. She's still working on it, but being back with her family has helped.

Laura: [nods a bit] Good. That's good. [there's a pause as she plays with the menu, folding a crease in it without really looking at it] Can I see her?

Derek: [takes a deep breath and he rubs at his nose] Well, right now she is working on a project.

Laura: [eyebrow raise] That's more important than her recently resurrected older sister?

Derek: [goes to sit across from her, looking at his hands a moment] We're working on healing Peter right now.

Laura: [yeah, that's a snarl. It may have been a while ago for you, Derek, but it's still fresh for her] Peter? You mean the guy who killed me in the first place?

Derek: [licks his lips, not surprised at all by that] Yeah, that guy. Who's helped keep me and Cora from dying a few times since then.

Laura: Oh. Well, good for him. [yeah, no, she's not happy]

Derek: [nods, looking at his hands again] I'm not expecting you to be all that happy to see him, Laura. But Cora and I have been working hard to try and fix him from the damage the fire did to his psyche. We're getting there.

Laura: Fine. Whatever. Fix him for all I care. But do I have to wait until he's "better" in order to see my sister? Because that's the part I have a problem with.

Derek: No, I just need to either take her place, or ask Buffy to watch him for a while.

Laura: [she huffs a bit before nodding. Instinctively she doesn't want to share either of them with Peter, so her preference would be Buffy, but it's not her call.]

Derek: Let me order you your pizzas, and then we'll go over there. Unless you'd rather stay here.

Laura: I don't want to see him.

Derek: And you don't have to. Not right now at least. I don't think he could handle it anyway.

Laura: Then let's stay here. [she's not really sure she's ready to be in the outside world anyway]

Derek: Then we'll stay here. I'll text Buffy and ask her to send Cora over when she wakes up.

Laura: [nods, bulling her legs to cross under her and leaning back against the couch] Okay.

Derek: What do you want on your pizzas? [he nods at the menu]

Laura: Meatball.

Derek: On all of them?

Laura: I guess we can have veggie on one of them. If we have to.

Derek: [that gets a laugh out of him] Five meatball pizzas coming up. [he pulls out his cell phone to call it in, standing and heading to where he keeps his credit card]

Laura: [just leans back into the couch, really looking around the loft for the first time, really taking it in] How long have you lived here?

Derek: I bought the building about two years ago. Moved in a year and a half. I've got the top two floors and roof, the rest I rent out.

Laura: [nods a bit] And Cora lives here too? [she takes another breath, still calibrating her sense of smell] Or do you have a whole pack living here?

Derek: Cora lives here. One of my betas, Isaac, used to live here until he went to France with his girlfriend, Allison, a few months ago. You're also smelling Scott, who is the local alpha, Stiles who is the human and his best friend... [and Cora's boyfriend], Lydia, who is a banshee... Kira, the kitsune, and then a bunch of Slayers and Summers.

Laura: Did Scott get the alpha from Peter? [though ... he's alive, so how would that work. Then again.]

Derek: No, he's actually a true alpha. [chuckles] He's a good kid, you'll like him.

Laura: [her eyes widen] An actual true alpha?

Derek: Yeah. I was there the night he changed. He's a teenager, but he's got a good soul.

Laura: Holy shit. [true alphas are rare enough, but true alphas who are a kid? those just don't happen] So ... is Peter still an alpha? [translation: where is mom's power?]

Derek: No.... I took it from him. After he killed everyone who were responsible for the fire. [including Kate Argent] It's a very long, complicated story.

Laura: [she pauses, before squinting at him.] But you're a beta?

Derek: Omega, actually. But I was an alpha, and not a good one at all looking back.

Laura: You hang out with a true alpha but you're an omega.

Derek: I have my reasons. [someone needed to be on Peter's side]

Laura: [she holds up a hand] So how'd you go from alpha to omega?

Derek: [there's a small smile there] Cora was suffering from mistletoe poisoning from a Darach. I gave it up to heal her from it.

Laura: [she smiles a bit at that] She would have been proud of you.

Derek: [his smile grows] Yeah, I know. To be honest... I've learned a lot more about being an alpha after I gave it up, than I ever did while I was one.

Laura: [she laughs a bit at that] She always said it wasn't something you could really learn until you were in it. Or in your case, without it.

Derek: [looks at her, squinting before turning his eyes blue to really look at her] So what are you now?

Laura: [she pauses for a moment, before closing her eyes and blinking them open to show the beta gold] Not an alpha.

Derek: Four Hales, and not an alpha among us. [chuckles] And Cora being the only one who hasn't returned from the dead, which we're keeping that way.

Laura: [her eyes go back to normal again and she's just staring at her brother] Excuse me?

Derek: You haven't noticed that I'm not as shocked about you coming back from the dead as a normal, sane person would have been?

Laura: We are not normal sane people. We haven't been since the fire. [she's just saying] That excuse me was supposed to translate to when, exactly, did you die?

Derek: [thinks, wanting to ask her to pick which time, but no, that isn't the right answer right now] Three days ago now. But I got better. [smirks]

Laura: [squints at him] Don't you Monty Python me.

Derek: You've been gone for over two years, Laura. Trust me, a lot has changed.

Laura: [she sighs a bit before nodding] Then I have a lot of catching up to do.

Derek: [he's debating on telling her about what happened to him in Mexico, but she's had a long day and he doesn't want to overwhelm her] Let me go text Cora and Buffy and see if I can get Cora here to see you.

Laura: [she nods, and just curls up into the couch and takes everything in, and as she does] So how long have you and Dawn been together?

Derek: [texting, trying not to blush] A little under a year now.

Laura: Took you two long enough.

Derek: [focused on his phone] Yeah, yeah, saying things I've already heard. [looks up at her, amused]

Laura: [she laughs] I'm just glad you finally made it work. You seem ... happy.

Derek: [he chuckled a moment, then nodded] I actually am.

Laura: Good. Seriously, this is good, Derek.

Derek: I'm glad you think so. [smiles] And I'm really glad you're here to think so.

Laura: Me too. Even if this feels like it's going to come back and bite me in the ass - beyond the spotty senses and whatever else is wrong with me.

Derek: It'll take a few hours, but it'll come back. It won't be as strong for a while - it wasn't for Peter when he came back, but I think that was specific to the spell done to bring him back.

Laura: [nods a bit] How did he come back?

Derek: Some spell... I never really figured out the details but it used a banshee, wolfsbane, moonlight and my blood on the worm moon.

Laura: [makes a face] Did you ask Deaton?

Derek: We actually had other problems at that point and never really got back around to it.

Laura: [she nods] I don't think I was the same thing, but it might be worth looking into now.

Derek: Once you're rested, we'll call Deaton and ask. [looks at his phone to see if Cora has gotten his text yet]

Buffy: [she hasn't but Buffy has:] Parrish is bringing her back. I didn't tell her. [because she didn't want to ruin the surprise] I'll tell Peter, unless you want to.

Derek: [text: No, I'll tell Peter. Let him get some more rest.] Cora's on her way. Buffy hasn't told her about you.

Laura: [nods a bit, a bit of nerves hitting her] Does she ... I mean ... will it be okay?

Derek: She's missed you a lot. It'll be fine.

Laura: [nods a bit] Okay.

Derek: [and there's a buzzing at the door indicating that the pizza guy was there.] Dinner's here.

Laura: Finally. I'm starving.

Cora: [and then we can handwave eating and talking until Cora pulls he door to the loft open, clearly confused] Derek, what's going ... [she stops when her eyes fall on Laura and she isn't entirely sure what to think] ... on.

Derek: [smiles and gets up, coming to stand between sisters] Apparently it's really true that no one can stay dead in this town after all. [he nodded, then motioned with his head for Cora to go hug the hell out of her sister because it was really her]

Laura: [is just watching her right back, because God, she's so big. she's all grown up and she missed it, but she manages a tearful smile all the same] Hi.

Cora: [Derek's approval is really all she needs and she's flying at Laura, pulling her in close and burying her face in her sister's shoulder and both of them are crying at this point]

Derek: [and he's just smiling to himself and he's going to go and close the door and then clean up some of the pizza mess while they do the hugging and crying thing]

Cora: [yep, they'll be at it a while, and talking about some of the stuff that's happened for Cora, nothing Derek doesn't already know]

Derek: [eventually he will just drop himself back into the chair across from the couch and watch them, happy for the family reunion of the three Hale siblings]

Cora: [and she will glance over at him eventually] How much have you told her?

Derek: Bits and pieces. None of the big things though. She knows Peter's alive and in recovery.

Laura: Not so fond of that one.

Cora: He's not sure he's all that fond of it either.

Derek: He's done a lot of bad things, Laura. We aren't excusing him for that. But we're trying to help him finally heal - like he should have after the fire.

Laura: [her jaw sets] I didn't say you shouldn't. I just don't want to see him.

Derek: And I said that you don't have to. But this is something Cora and I are firm about, so you'll have to deal with us trying to help him while we're helping you. We're family.

Laura: Does dealing with it mean being happy about it, because that I can't really do.

Derek: No, you don't have to be happy about it. Trust me, I don't think he would expect you to do anything less than slashing his throat right now. [looks at Cora, because there were a few reasons why Peter was under constant supervision]

Laura: Well, good, because I am inclined to. [she leans back and crosses her arms in front of her chest] But I'll stay out of his way if he stays out of mine.

Derek: [he looks at Cora and gives her a one shoulder shrug.] Probably the best for everyone. Obviously you're going to stay here for now anyway.

Laura: [nods]

Derek: [yawns] And I think I'm about ready to curl up in a corner and take a nap while you two catch up.

Cora: [nods] We'll be okay.

Derek: [nods and goes off to his room, squeezing them both on the shoulders before he leaves. And seeing that he doesn't have full understanding over this new shifting thing... there is a good chance he's going to shift while he's asleep when he's that exhausted]

Cora: [Awwww, puppy. Your girlfriend would be endeared if she were there]

Derek: [yeah, but she's not. However, if either of them go looking for him...... oops?]

Cora: [they might but I'm fighting with a dying power cord atm so unfortunately not tonight]
