regency au } { of baby invasions and expanding families

Peter: [and he will enter, being careful to be quiet in case the baby is sleeping] Good afternoon, sweetheart. How are you feeling?

Laura: Good. [she looks up with a bright smile] Both of us. [Amelia is not sleeping quite yet, but she's very nearly there]

Peter: [walks around to be able to sit on the edge of the bed, looking at the baby face] She is very beautiful.

Laura: [nods as she looks down again] She is. Her name is Amelia Hale.

Peter: Well, hello Amelia. Welcome to the big world.

Laura: [Amelia just gives a big gaping yawn as one arm stretches up over her head and Laura laughs] Do you want to hold her?

Peter: Please. [and he will carefully take the baby, holding her with one arm while the other adjusts blankets and then strokes her tiny face. He's a pro at this]

Laura: [he is and she will lean back against the headboard and just watch them from where she is]

Peter: [and he will rock her gently] You are a very special little girl, Amelia. Not just because you're going to be a very powerful woman when you grow up. But you are the result of a very beautiful love story and two very special parents. So you are very, very special.

Laura: [she smiles softly at that, before nodding] And she will be very, very loved herself.

Peter: By every single person in this manor. Including me.

Laura: Before we know it there will be children everywhere.

Peter: The manor does feel more like a home when it is full of happy, laughing children. You will see that soon. [and he just smiles at Amelia, missing when Malia was this little]

Laura: [she nods] Between Amelia and Patience, and eventually the baby Elena has ... it will certainly be louder, that is for certain.

Peter: And eventually your sister will find her way to becoming a mother. But I think young Lord Stilinski will have a ways to go before he has an heir.

Laura: [she laughs] Probably much farther than he thinks.

Peter: But he does love her. I think he will put in the time. He has become a lot more patient with her.

Laura: He has. And she has grown in her affections for him. But my sister can be much more ... naive than she lets on.

Peter: [sighs and leans back a bit on the headboard, just watching the sleeping baby making baby sleepy faces] Well, on his end, it will come down to if the rumors I heard of the Whittemore family traditions are true.

Laura: [raised eyebrow. she never heard of this but she didn't spend that much time with the Whittemores]

Peter: It's just rumor. But said that Lord Whittemore the senior believed that his sons should know how to be men in all ways before they make their debut into the court as a man. And I hear it meant in all ways.

Laura: But Stiles wasn't his son.

Peter: No, but he was Jackson's whipping boy. Which means he gets the same education. So... question comes as to how far that extended.

Laura: I don't think Cora will care.

Peter: Nor do I, but I think in a way, it may benefit her in a way.

Laura: How do you mean?

Peter: Someone who can be gentle. Give her a strong presence, hopefully with come confidence, to help ease her fears.

Laura: [she nods] Well, one challenge at a time. He has to get her to agree to marry him, first.

Peter: True. You should have seen her face when she would get those letters.

Laura: Who's idea was that?

Peter: His own, from what I gather. [he looked at his niece and smiled] I recognized Roland's hand and when we returned I asked. Stiles approached him for help. It was an idea he got from his stepmother, but the words were... mostly his. Just shaped into something a bit more easier for Cora to take in.

Laura: It was smart. It gave her something to solve and some safety and distance. Just what she needed.

Peter: Now let's just hope being together again, they will be able to continue to learn and grow.

Laura: I think they will. He already has her heart, he just needs to hold on to it.

Peter: [nods, and looks down at the sleeping baby] And this one already has her daddy's heart. He was beaming during out morning meetings.

Laura: [she smiles] Yes, she does. I have a feeling it will be very easy for her to get her way when she's older.

Peter: Her and Patience will rule them all. At least when Malia is married.

Laura: Which I'm sure you're in no rush for.

Peter: No, not in the least. And I think the new family tradition of marrying for love is a good future for her. Even if it means I may have to worry about the bad habits young Liam tries to teach her.

Laura: Don't worry too much. Every lady needs a few bad habits.

Peter: Mmm hmm. Just remember that when this little one develops her first one.

Laura: [she laughs, before glancing at him curiously] What about you and Kate?

Peter: In which ways?

Laura: Are you considering giving Malia siblings?

Peter: [he licks his lips, then shook his head] I think she will remain my one and only.

Laura: [her face softens] I'm sorry.

Peter: Just more love to give to yours. [he looked at Laura] I will be fine, sweetheart. As it is, Liam is more my ward now than he is Parrish's. They are more than enough to handle.

Laura: [she nods] I'm sure they are keeping you on your toes.

Peter: That they are. As does my lady wife.

Laura: I'll admit, you two are an interesting match.

Peter: I will admit, I didn't think it would work but we are finding our stride.

Laura: Good. And Daniel hasn't been giving you any trouble?

Peter: [sighs] No, but he is not silent either. I trust Kate to keep him in line, or at least me informed.

Laura: I guess we'll have to see what happens.

Peter: We will. But for now, we will celebrate our joys and keep thoughts of him far from our minds. [goes to hand Amelia back to Laura]

Laura: [takes her easily, her smile stretching as she sinks back into her arms and cuddles her close] Yes, we will.

Peter: [leans over and presses a kiss to the top of Laura's head, smiling as he nuzzled her a bit] Your mother would be very happy right now if she was here.

Laura: [her smile turns down a bit as she nods] I'm sure she would be.

Peter: [pets her head a moment] And Amelia has got one amazing of an alpha as a guardian angel. You know she will be looking down to watch over all them.

Laura: [nods again. She wishes she were here, to help her with this, but that can't be. It still doesn't dampen the moment, but it makes it a little more bittersweet]

Peter: Plus it will give her something else to watch, so she will stop heckling my life with my mate.

Laura: Mmmm-hmmm.

Peter: That's your job now. [smiles and kisses her head again]

Laura: [she chuckles] I'll do my best to pick up the slack.

Peter: Team up with Kate. I'm sure she will enjoy the companionship.

Laura: I will see what I can do.

Peter: That's my girl. [and he stands up] I will come check up on you again tomorrow if you wish.

Laura: [she nods] That would be good. Same time?

Peter: Same time. Just send someone to fetch me when you are ready.

Laura: [she nods] I will.

Peter: I love you, sweetheart. [and he will make his way out]

Laura: [and she will shift so that she's lying down more, curl up with her baby and take a nap herself, which is probably how her husband will find her]
