Derek: [and while the wolves in the household would know that the knights had returned, Derek of course doesn't see his wife there so word had yet to spread up to his wing. He smiles at that, knowing he will have surprise on his side. He leaves the horse with the stable as he takes his travel bag on his shoulder and heads up to his rooms still in his cloaks, opening the door and peeking into the main area which is empty, but he can hear Elena and Patience] Hello, is anyone here? [called into the wing, looking towards the baby's room]

Elena: [her head snaps around at the sound of the voice, and a bright smile crosses her face] You're back!

Derek: [and he comes to lean in the doorway, grinning] We just rode back in. I didn't see you waiting for me downstairs so I decided to come up and find you both myself.

Elena: [she grins up at him and Patience bounces on her feet a bit when she sees her father, but her balance is a casualty of her excitement and she tips backwards, landing gently on her butt] I didn't realize you would be back today or I would have been there.

Derek: [he sucks on his lips a moment in amusement at his daughter before coming closer, bending down easily to pick her up before having his daughter in one arm, and pulling his wife to him with the other] Well, I'm here now. Though I will have to check in with Parrish and Laura sometime this afternoon.

Elena: [uses him to help her up with a smile] Well, that's sometime this afternoon. [And she will lean in to kiss him because she missed him very much]

Derek: [and he will kiss her back, having missed her just as much. He's going to keep them close for just a bit]

Elena: [hums after a moment as she pulls back, before tugging him towards one of the couches in the room so they can sit] Anything exciting happen?

Derek: No, it was just working with the border town. They were starting to do more farming on the wrong side of the land border and our neighbor was feeling that they were stealing. It's all resolved.

Elena: That's good. It would be a shame were it to get messy.

Derek: I also let Lord Stilinski weigh in his opinions and he has been learning quickly. It wasn't a perfect solution, but it was very workable.

Elena: Good. I'm glad he's learning.

Derek: As am I. He is going to be a good Lord of the Manor one day.

Elena: Good. [she sighs as she stays close] I'm glad you're home, though.

Derek: Me too. I've missed you a lot. [he kisses her, and then looks at his daughter and kisses her forehead] Both of you.

Elena: [Patience is just curling into her father's chest because she's a daddy's girl, but Elena will hang back, watching the two of them as she contemplates if now is the right time]

Derek: [he will let Elena go so that he could snuggle his daughter a moment] So have a missed anything while I was gone?

Elena: Nothing too exciting. Things have been fairly calm.

Derek: That's good. Calm is always good. I see we're still working on walking.

Elena: She's mastered standing. It's the forward motion that seems to be giving her trouble.

Derek: Well, half the battle is done. She will soon learn that she needs to move forward to explore the world.

Elena: I'm sure she will. It will probably help if we stop expecting her to and let her do it on her own.

Derek: Well, the first child is always going to end up having all the pressure on making us feel we're doing this parenting thing right. But you are right - she will when she is ready.

Elena: She has plenty to learn and plenty of time to do it in.

Derek: That she does. [and he's going to put Patience down, holding onto her little hand a moment and hoping she is going to get her balance]

Patience: [which she does, gripping tightly to his hand and swaying a little, but she stays on her feat]

Derek: Have you both eaten lunch yet? We didn't stop to eat since we were ready to get home.

Elena: [she shakes her head] No, not yet.

Derek: Then why don't we go have a late lunch together.

Elena: I think that sounds perfect.

Derek: [and he will try and get Patience to walk with him while holding his hand] You want food, little one?

Patience: [she is very unsure of this situation. She tugs on her father's hand, bouncing a bit as though to indicate that he should carry her so she can move faster, but if that doesn't work she will probably just drop to her knees to try and keep up with him]

Derek: [he laughed and reached down to pick her back up, and then took Elena's hand and they could go to the kitchen to find themselves something to eat]

Elena: [which she will take easily and follow him, making their way downstairs where they will have a nice lunch together, just the three of them]

Derek: [and then it will be Patience's nap time and Derek will leave Elena to put her down while he goes to wash off the dirt of his ride finally]

Elena: [and Elena will do that, telling her a story and rocking her until she sleeps before putting her to bed and making her way back to their bedroom to wait for her husband]

Derek: [and he's going to return to the room in just his pants, drying his hair having "accidently" left his tunic in the room] Is she asleep?

Elena: [mmm-hmmm. Accidentally. Lucky for you, Sir Hale, she doesn't really mind] Yes. Which means we have an hour to ourselves at least.

Derek: An hour is not a very long time, but I do want to spend some time with just my wife before I have to take back my duties here. [and he will pull her closer to him] That is, if the lady wants to be with her husband.

Elena: [her smile widens a bit as she lets him pull her in, sliding one arm around his neck] The lady wants nothing more, especially after he was gone for so long.

Derek: Then I am more than happy to oblige in her wishes. [and his hands will slip around her waist and pull her in for a deep kiss]

Elena: [and she is more than happy to kiss him back, sinking into his embrace and staying close]

Derek: [and he will guide her to the bed where he will make the best use of his hour in making love to his wife]

Elena: [which will leave her relaxed and lazy next to him when he's done, stretching out before curling into his side] I really did miss you.

Derek: [totally nuzzling her cheek, his fingers just lazy drifting on her back] I missed you too, love.

Elena: [she sighs softly, closing her eyes as her hand splays directly over his slowing heart rate] Being apart was harder than I expected it to be.

Derek: Well, at least when I go to tourney, you can come with me. In fact, I would insist on it. I don't want to be apart from you for long periods at all.

Elena: [her teeth rake over her bottom lip for a moment, before she glances up at him] If I do go, I may not be able to stay the entire time.

Derek: If it's because of your kinsmen and their opinions on Caroline, I will take them all in the ring to teach them manners.

Elena: No, it's not that. [she pauses for a moment, before a coy look crosses her face as she looks up at him again] It will depend on when the baby will be born.

Derek: [give him a moment] Who's baby?

Elena: [she laughs, shifting onto her side more as she draws his hand to her stomach] Our baby.

Derek: [and he blinks, looking at where she's putting his hand, and then her face, a smile growing] Really?

Elena: [she nods, her hand staying over his as she looks back at him] Really.

Derek: [and he's just going to grin, and then roll them a bit because yup, totally kissing her]

Elena: [she grins as she kisses him back, rolling onto her back easily to pull him closer]

Derek: [and there are going to be a bit of make-out before he pulls his head back] You already are a wonderful mother to Patience. Our child is going to be so blessed.

Elena: [her smile widens as she stays close] They will be fortunate to have both of us.

Derek: I cannot imagine another life without you in it.

Elena: Then I am glad we have this one.

Derek: [and he kisses her again, and then he will slide down and kiss her stomach] Hello little one.

Elena: [she smiles, a hand brushing over the top of his head as he does]

Derek: You may not have ears just yet, but just know I love you.

Elena: I think they know.

Derek: They? [looks up] Should I be concerned that there is more than one in there?

Elena: [she laughs] No. But we don't know the gender so they seems more ... diplomatic.

Derek: Well, it is better than "it."

Elena: [she nods] Exactly.

Derek: So who knows so far in the manor?

Elena: Dr. Deaton. But unless there is some kind of magical werewolf detection I'm unaware of, just him and you.

Derek: Not until somewhere in your second trimester. That's when we can hear the heartbeat when you're close enough.

Elena: [she nods] Regardless, I wanted to tell you first.

Derek: I am so happy you did. [kiss] I will wait until you are ready to tell my sisters.

Elena: [she trails her hands over his shoulders gently] We can tell them whenever you're ready.

Derek: [he thinks a moment, his fingers running along her hips] Tonight at dinner? It will be a happy occasion with us all back together...

Elena: [she nods in agreement] That sounds fine.

Derek: Good. Though I should probably get going to find my sister before he comes in here. [he knows Laura won't, but still]
