new york wolves } { of weddings and speeches
Alexis: [so after the ceremony, the couple that have pretty much been all smiles since they day started pile into the limo that will take them to the reception, very carefully so as not to damage Alexis' dress. And it is a lot of dress. Once she settles carefully onto the seat with a sigh, she holds her hand out for Hal to join her with a grin] Get in here.
Hal: You sure there is enough room in there for me with all that fabric?
Alexis: [laughs] Yes! [and she will shift again to try and clear the seat of some of the fabric]
Hal: [and once she does he tries to fit in, pushing the fabric out of the way as he settles] There, I'm in. Driver, go before we can't escape!
Alexis: [and they take off and into NYC traffic, but once they're moving, she'll lean in to kiss him again]
Hal: [kisses her back] Hello, Mrs. Mason.
Alexis: Hello, Mr. Mason.
Hal: If you don't know, you look amazing in that dress.
Alexis: Why thank you. You're looking pretty snazzy yourself.
Hal: Well, I wanted to impress you. This tux was made just for me.
Alexis: How fancy. Color me very impressed.
Hal: You know, we could skip the party and head straight for the airport.
Alexis: Mmmm. We could, but I promised my dad a dance.
Hal: Yeah, and since he's funding this trip, probably good idea to follow through.
Alexis: Yep. But tonight we will be on that plane and heading to two weeks of nothing but you and me.
Hal: Which I'm really, really looking forward to. [leans in to kiss her again]
Alexis: [sighs as she kisses him back] Me too.
Hal: I'm just glad we finally got here with minimum bloodshed between our mothers.
Alexis: [sighs] Yeah, remind me to not let my mother help with planning our next wedding.
Hal: What next wedding? I don't plan on either of us ever needing another wedding. Death do us part.
Alexis: So you're saying if I asked you, you wouldn't marry me again? [teasing gently]
Hal: Well, again yes. I would totally marry you again. But only you.
Alexis: Good. I did say our next wedding.
Hal: Just making sure. [smirks]
Alexis: [grins as she leans into him] Trust me. You're the only person I want to marry.
Hal: Same here. [kisses her temple] It's be too much work finding someone else I love as much as you anyway.
Alexis: Agreed. With med school and everything else, I think I'd rather stick with what I've got.
Hal: Especially since we invested in all those cooking classes for me to be able to make sure you have food while in med school that isn't from a microwave.
Alexis: Yes. I am looking forward to the results of those, by the way.
Hal: Oh, I know you are. But be prepared for things to taste weird as I keep learning.
Alexis: You've met my dad, right? So long as you don't start making smorelettes, I can handle anything.
Hal: I liked his smorelettes.
Alexis: [glances over at him, before patting his leg gently] Chocolate and eggs don't go together babe.
Hal: Not in Alaska.
Alexis: Well when we go to Alaska you can make me chocolate and eggs.
Hal: Deal.
Alexis: Until then, I'll just stick to my usual bacon scramble. Or pancakes.
Hal: French Toast?
Alexis: Also acceptable.
Hal: The meal also known in the Mason house as the failed snow day dinner special.
Alexis: [she laughs] Sounds perfect.
Hal: [and they are pulling up to the place for their pictures] This day is never going to end.
Alexis: Yes, it will. We just gotta keep on trucking and eventually there will be a hotel bed we can collapse into.
Hal: Something to look forward to, at least. [leans in to kiss her as the limo stops]
Alexis: [kisses him back before nodding] C'mon. Let's go take an ungodly amount of pictures.
Hal: I apologize now for all the poses Stiles gets me into.
Alexis: I apologize for all the poses my dad gets us into.
Hal: Remind me to ask the photographer to get us one nice pose?
Alexis: Will do.
Hal: [and he will open the limo door, holding his hand out to help Alexis and her dress out of the limo]
Alexis: [and off they go to take all the pictures!]
Hal: [including a Hal and Stiles superhero pose]
Alexis: [and Castle getting them into laser tag gear]
Hal: [but there will be a few of them at sunset together being the beautiful couple]
Alexis: [yep, and once that's all done, off to the reception hall they will go.]
Hal: [and then a beautiful first dance that one of Martha's theatre friends helped choreograph]
Alexis: [and after that are the father/daughter, mother/son dances]
Stiles: [and then the speech] So I promised not to embarrass Hal too much tonight with my best man speech, but really, he should have checked the fingers behind my back because they were totally crossed, man.
Alexis: [leans in to whisper to Hal] You should have known better.
Hal: I should have. I will get revenge though.
Stiles: Anyway, I know way more things about Hal than anyone probably should ever know, but that's because I shared a dorm room and then an apartment with him on and off the last four years. And man, Alexis - you have a lot of work cut out for you.
Alexis: You act like I haven't been working on him for four years already.
Stiles: [laughs] Yeah, but you're going off to med school and he's going to be taking care of the house. But anyway, Four years, and there's a lot of things I bet you don't know about him still. Like how he has a ritual with his jock strap when we're on a winning streak -
Hal: Oh my god, STILES.
Alexis: [eyes close] Seriously, Stiles?
Stiles: But the thing I remember the most was the day that he and I went ring shopping. He had been in love with you since the day you two met, but it was at that point when he knew that the love was something more. He was scared, worried that the ring wasn't going to be able to convey the size of his love of you. But I told him that you wouldn't be able to wear a ring the size of Jupiter, so the one he picked out for you was just fine.
Alexis: [okay that makes her smile, and she leans back into Hal a bit as she does]
Hal: [and he will put his arm around her, hugging her closer]
Stiles: You two - I mean there's not a lot anyone can say but you are that adorably gross cute couple that we're all jealous of. You're perfect for each other, and it's just been awesome to be able to watch your relationship blossom. You two are like siblings I never had, and... I love you both and wish you all the best things life has to offer. And I can't wait to see where you both go next, and I'm so glad I'm going to be here to see all the things you're both going to accomplish together.
Alexis: [tips her head to the side and looks back at Stiles with a small smile]
Hal: [smiles as well] Thanks, Stiles.
Stiles: [holds up his champagne] To Hal and Alexis.
Alexis: [and there's cheers from the rest of the room]
Stiles: [and he's going to salute them and drink to them, and go back to his spot next to Cora]
Cora: [and now it's Cora's turn. And Alexis is flashing her a wide "please don't hurt me" smile and Cora just smiles back at her] So. Alexis and I have been best friends since we were eleven. When I first got to New York and started middle school, I had been through a pretty rough year so far, and I didn't know ... anyone. She sat down across from me at that lunch table and started talking to me as though I've been there my whole life and didn't even hesitate to invite me over to try and help me catch up on the classes I missed. Between her and Rick, I didn't just have friends in the city - I had family.
Hal: [rubs Alexis' back]
Cora: So basically, I know how easy it is to fall in love with Alexis. You'd have to be an idiot not to. So when I first started hearing about "Lacrosse Guy" freshman year, I let her take me to all the lacrosse games and let her ditch me for lunch and all that typical best friend stuff. And then I actually met Hal. And Stiles is right, they were perfect for each other.
Hal: Lacrosse Guy?
Alexis: [nods as she pats his arm] Lacrosse Guy.
Cora: Hal and Alexis have been there for me through a lot, and if anyone deserves a happy ending, they do. Everyone says that marriage is hard, but I know that they have the mettle to do what it takes to make it work. If anything, after raising her dad, Alexis has learned all the things not to do.
Castle: ... I can't even argue that.
Peter: [laughing]
Hal: Just more life lessons.
Cora: To sum up - to Alexis and Hal. You guys are the best of all of us, so all we can ask is nothing but the best for you.
Hal: [salutes Cora with his glass] Thanks, Cora.
Cora: [and she's back to her seat too and there is FOOD AND DANCING]
Stiles: [and he will pull Cora out onto the floor to dance with him all night long between nomming and being with their friends]
Cora: [yep. lots of dancing. especially if there's slow dancing]
Stiles: [yup, with his hands around her waist, keeping her close]
Cora: [sighs as she rests her head against his shoulder] This was a nice wedding.
Stiles: Yeah, it was. [looks over at Hal and Alexis, lost in their own world] I'm so happy for them
Cora: [nods] Me too. They deserve it.
Stiles: And one day, that's going to be us.
Cora: [nods a bit then smiles] Yeah. One day.
Stiles: [nuzzles her cheek] And we owe it all to them.
Cora: [grins as she leans into him] I don't think we want to give them all the credit.
Stiles: Well, Alexis did introduce us while she was there looking for Hal.
Cora: True. But we did all the work.
Stiles: Yeah, and it was a lot of work at times.
Cora: Yes, it was.
Stiles: But worth it.
Cora: Totally worth it.
Stiles: [and he will kiss her]
Cora: [sighs as she kisses him back, leaning in closer so that she's sinking into him a bit] You know, Castle rented the bridal party rooms in the hotel tonight.
Stiles: Is that so?
Cora: It is. And they're very nice rooms.
Stiles: Would you like to show me your room?
Cora: I would. Very much.
Stiles: Think anyone will miss us?
Cora: [takes a deep breath before glancing around] I think we should at least wait until after cake.
Stiles: And probably the bouquet toss.
Cora: And the garter too.
Stiles: I'm still debating sneaking out and decorating the limo with inflated condoms.
Cora: [cringes slightly] I don't think you need to do that one.
Stiles: Okay, I won't.
Cora: [she nods before stepping in closer] You should just stay here. And dance with me until all that other stuff is done, and then I can show you my room.
Stiles: Mmmmm, okay, I'm down with your plan.
Cora: Good. [leans in to kiss him again]
Stiles: [kisses her back, his mind already up in that hotel room]
Cora: [understandable. but they have stuff to get through first. Like cake! Where they will go back to the table to sit with Malia and Jeremy]
Stiles: [amazing cake]
Jeremy: [and he is having fun just dancing and being Malia’s adorable date]
Malia: [and she's mostly been dancing but now it is cake time, so she pulls Jeremy back to the table] Are you having fun?
Jeremy: Oh yeah. This has been a lot of fun. They planned a good wedding.
Malia: Yeah, they did. I'm pretty sure Alexis has been planning this since she met him.
Jeremy: Well, she did good. And they're pretty cool from what I've gathered.
Malia: Yeah, they are. They're good people.
Jeremy: So what do you wanna do after this?
Malia: Well, Alexis's dad booked suites for everyone in the hotel. And is floating all the expenses so ... I figured we could crash there. They're ... pretty sweet.
Jeremy: Does everyone have their own room in the suites?
Malia: Yeah. I mean they're not conjoined rooms. They're just super huge.
Jeremy: Good. I mean, not like we really want Stiles and Cora seeing us or vice versa.
Malia: Agreed. [looks at where her sister is being all lovey-dovey with Stiles] No one needs to witness that.
Jeremy: No, not at all.
Malia: [she shrugs] So yeah. That was my plan. Unless you had something else in mind?
Jeremy: No, I approve of this plan.
Malia: Perfect. [she grins] We can bail whenever you want. [because she doesn't care about the bouquet/garter stuff]
Jeremy: Think they'll notice us disappear if we do it during the bouquet toss?
Malia: [shakes her head] I don't think anyone'll miss us.
Jeremy: Awesome. [and they have their plans]
Laura: [yep. and they are good plans. But as they finish their cake, Laura is going to wander over to settle next to them] Man, my feet hurt.
Jeremy: Probably from the heels. You should dance barefoot. [sage nod]
Laura: Maybe, but if I do that then my partner is suddenly too tall to dance with.
Jeremy: Stand on his feet?
Laura: [wrinkles her nose a bit] I don't think he'll be fond of that.
Jeremy: Then you're kinda screwed if you want to keep dancing.
Laura: [nods as she kicks her feet up on the chair next to her] I think I'm personally good with stopping for now.
Jeremy: Yeah, we were talking about how worn out we're feeling. It's been a long day, after all.
Laura: It has. But it's been a good day, even if it's a day that's not made me regret my choice to elope at all.
Jeremy: I heard about that. Married by Elvis.
Laura: Best decision I ever made.
Jeremy: Well, congrats.
Laura: Thank you. So how are you two doing?
Jeremy: Good. Doing good.
Laura: Good. Glad to hear it.
Jeremy: But yeah, I'm running out of steam. Trying not to pass out into the cake.
Laura: [glances from him to her sister and nods] Mmm-hmm.
Jeremy: [shrugs] Drawback of being a token human.
Laura: I'm sure it is. [she shrugs as well] Don't feel like you're stuck here on my account.
Jeremy: Well, we don't want to disrespect Alexis and Hal...
Laura: I'm pretty sure that they were considering bailing on their own reception at some point.
Jeremy: [laughs] Yeah, I'm sure.
