spamalot } { of babysitting and sensibility genes
Lydia: [which it is because they alternate, and she smirks when she sees him asleep before shifting to lean over him gently] Jordan?
Parrish: [jerks awake] I'm paying attention. [obviously not]
Lydia: Mmmm-hmmm. So who did Cecilia pledge her love to in the end?
Parrish: The main dude, of course.
Lydia: Cheating.
Parrish: But I'm right.
Lydia: I don't know how you know, considering the movie isn't even over yet.
Parrish: [looking at the TV] Oh.
Lydia: [smirks a bit, before leaning in to kiss him] You're lucky you're an adorable cheater.
Parrish: [kisses her back] I try.
Lydia: [settles against him more] Did you have a long day or was my movie just that boring?
Parrish: Long day... though it was a bit slow to keep me involved.
Lydia: Well, is there something I could do to ... keep you engaged?
Parrish: Most of the things I think of would just make us both ignore the movie.
Lydia: [she shrugs] I've seen it before. I think I could stand to miss it.
Parrish: Well, what would you rather do then?
Lydia: I'm kind of curious about those things you were thinking of.
Parrish: Well, it would start with a little of this. [and he will kiss her again]
Lydia: [hums softly, as she leans closer to settle into the kiss]
Parrish: [and he will pull her further up into his arms so that she can stretch out on top of him]
Lydia: [which she will do because despite his muscles he is a very comfortable thing to rest on]
Parrish: [he tries to remain a comfy sleeping place]
Lydia: [and eventually she will deepen the kiss, sliding her fingers through his hair to keep him close]
Parrish: [and he will respond, his fingers sliding to her hips and pulling her shirt up a bit so his warm fingers can play along her belly]
Lydia: [hums again into this kiss, before pulling back just slightly] Maybe we should head upstairs before things go too far.
Parrish: As long as we have the little video monitor we should be okay going upstairs.
Lydia: I'll grab it.
Parrish: I'll clean up quickly then. [which just involves cleaning up the table and putting the take out away]
Lydia: [Yep, and she will grab the monitor and check on Ben one last time before heading to her bedroom]
Parrish: [and he will wash his hands, start the dishes, and then head up to join her] Ben still sleeping?
Lydia: Like a rock.
Parrish: Wonderful. Where were we then?
Lydia: [smirks as she pushes up on her knees before pulling him in for another kiss]
Parrish: [and he will kiss her deeply, going to pull his shirt off in the process]
Lydia: [and hers will follow as she tips back to pull him back onto the bed over her]
Parrish: [and there will be a nice, long session of passionate lovemaking]
Lydia: [yep. which will be nice and long and relaxing until Ben decides that he's done with this lame sleep thing and starts to cry]
Parrish: I'll go get him. [kisses her and gets up, reaching for his sweats, and then heading across the loft to check on the baby] Hey kiddo, you're supposed to be asleep.
Ben: [so much unhappy noises]
Parrish: [leans over the edge of the crib] You know, this book I was reading said I'm supposed to give you five minutes to cry before you get into the habit of crying anytime you want to be picked up]
Ben: [WHY DON'T YOU LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE MEEEEEEEEEEEE]
Parrish: [whimpers] Oh, who cares what books say. [and yup, picking Ben up and cuddling him to his chest] Shh, it's okay Benji.
Ben: [oh, okay, this is better. But you took too long, so it's going to take a little bit longer before he's all cried out]
Parrish: [and he is going to walk back and forth, rubbing Ben's back as he checks for if the baby needs a diaper change] You hungry? Is that what this is all about?
Ben: [maybe. mostly he just was feeling lonely but food wouldn't hurt]
Parrish: [well, he will walk them downstairs because he doesn't have baby ESP and pull one of the half bottles from the fridge] So we'll just heat this up and you'll get a little midnight snack, huh? And then, if we can't get you back to sleep maybe we can try and see if one of Auntie Lydia's romance movies will do the trick.
Ben: Mmmmm-nuh.
Parrish: Just remember that, kiddo. When Auntie Lydia has movie time, bring toys.
Lydia: [Ben is mumbling as she comes downstairs, wrapped in a robe] He just couldn't be by himself, huh?
Parrish: Nope, typical boy and wants a midnight snack. [and the bottle is warm and he goes to feed the infant]
Ben: [om nom nom]
Lydia: Well, hopefully after that he'll sleep through the rest of the night.
Parrish: [rocking the baby gently as he feeds him] Hopefully. When will Cora and Stiles be back anyway?
Cora: [and the door opens as they return] Hey guys. [smirks when she sees the baby] Is he giving you trouble?
Parrish: Nah, just hungry.
Stiles: [following behind] That or he was just lonely.
Cora: He gets that too. [she reaches over and brushes her finger over his knuckles] Hi, buddy.
Parrish: I've got him if you two want to change for bed?
Cora: Okay. I'll be back for him in a couple minutes.
Parrish: Take your time. [he likes having baby time.]
Stiles: [shakes his head, wrapping an arm around Cora's waist] Come on, let's get changed.
Cora: [nods and lets her husband pull her upstairs]
Parrish: [and he will go to sit on the couch and motion for Lydia to join him]
Lydia: [which she will, sitting on the other side of Ben's head] He seems pretty comfy.
Parrish: Well, I am warm and comfy to sleep against.
Lydia: That is true.
Parrish: [and he will just watch Ben drift off while eating, smiling] He is too adorable for his own good.
Lydia: He must take after Cora.
Parrish: Must be.
Lydia: Which means this might all be a ruse and he'll wind up being just as much trouble as his father.
Parrish: Oh that I don't doubt. I mean, Stiles' knack for trouble is strong - I doubt it wouldn't be able to be inherited by any of their children.
Lydia: Sensibility is a recessive gene. We'll just have to keep our fingers crossed that at least one of them will take after their mother.
Parrish: One can hope. [laughs gently]
Lydia: Stiles had to have at least one sensible parent, right?
Parrish: The sheriff seems sensible most of the time.
Lydia: Most of the time. And then he'll say something and you realize where Stiles gets it from.
Stiles: [coming down the stairs] Actually, we both got it from my mother. At least that's what Dad said.
Lydia: [glances over at him and nods] Oh, I'm sure. [she doesn't believe it]
Stiles: [walks over and leans over the back of the couch to look at Ben] I can take him if you guys want to head back to sleep.
Lydia: [glances up at him and then to Parrish] That's up to the baby whisperer over here.
Parrish: I'm sure he'd rather have his daddy than me. [goes to shift Ben into Stiles' arms]
Stiles: [rocking Ben a bit] I'm sure. You two are officially off duty. Sleep well. [and he will start wandering back to the Stilinski side of the loft]
Cora: [so they go back to bed and Cora is sitting up in bed, waiting for her husband to return with their son]
Stiles: [and the bottle is finished and he's got Ben in the burping position, rubbing circles on his back] I've sent the rest of our adult children to bed.
Cora: Then all is quiet until we get Dina home tomorrow.
Stiles: Well, I think Scott left the kids there as well to have a date night with Allison before the baby is born, so I may see if he'll pick Dina up and bring her to Dad's house for dinner tomorrow.
Cora: Wow. I don't know if we'll know what to do with that much silence. [said fondly, because as much as she loves Dina, she knows that she's a hurricane waiting to happen]
Stiles: Sleep. [because yes, that is his plan. Especially since his daughter is way, way too much like him]
Cora: [she laughs] Fair enough. We're going to need it because Malia's about to pop and we're probably going to wind up babysitting Cameron when she does.
Stiles: For those times where Peter will let us, you mean.
Cora: Well, Malia said he would probably wind up at the hospital again, and let's just say we don't want Cam running around there as an instrument of destruction.
Stiles: Right. Don't need him throwing things at the glass walls.
Cora: Nope.
Stiles: [and when Ben has burped, he will lay his son in his lap while sitting cross legged in the bed] You ready for bed then, Mrs. Stilinski?
Cora: [she nods in agreement] I think bed is sounding like a good idea. What about you?
Stiles: I'm down with it. This one is out cold, so we should be good for the night now.
Cora: Perfect. Do we want to take him all the way to the crib or just keep him here?
Stiles: We can keep him here.
Cora: [nods and goes to shift under the covers] Want me to take him?
Stiles: Yeah, probably a good idea just so I can lay down at least.
Cora: [nods and reaches for Ben, taking him and very gently settling him on his back in the space between her and Stiles]
Stiles: [and he will join her under the sheets, moving to roll on his side to look at her and Cora, just smiling]
Cora: [smiles back at him as Ben squirms in his sleep next to them] What?
Stiles: Nothing. I just... I can't get enough of this. You, me and our baby.
Cora: [she grins a bit, before reaching over and taking his hand] We did it.
Stiles: We did. And it's just as perfect as I dreamed.
Cora: Good.
Stiles: I love you, Cora.
Cora: I love you too.
Stiles: You enjoy the night out?
Cora: I did. I missed our nights out.
Stiles: Me too. So next week you're planning?
Cora: Yep. I will let you know once I figure out what we're doing.
Stiles: Awesome. I will try not to peak in on the plans.
Cora: Good. [sighs softly as Ben sleepily takes hold of her finger] We should try and get some sleep before this one wakes up again.
Stiles: Good plan. [leans over to kiss her, and then gently kisses Ben's forehead] Night.
Cora: Night. [and she will drift off to sleep on her side next to them. And thankfully Ben won't wake with a whole lot of noise when he finally does, doing that thing he does where he lays awake, kicking his lets and chewing on his mom's finger until he manages to get his legs under him and flops his way over into his stomach. Which consequentially means landing on his father's face]
Stiles: Umph. [and he blinks awake, looking up at the body of his son] Benji... Daddy's sleeping.
Ben: [waves his hands and may accidentally hit the top of his head as he babbles]
Stiles: [laughs, rolling onto his back and lifting his son up in the air] Oh, kid. You're going to be a handful. This is why we shouldn't let you sleep in the bed.
Ben: [more waving and kicking because WHEEEEEEEE FLYING]
Stiles: [grins, just holding him there a moment, watching him in delight] It's a bird... it's a plane... no, it's Super Baby!
Cora: [Ben shrieks and giggles as he flies, and as he does Cora starts to rouse next to them, just laying there quietly and watching them]
Stiles: [and he won't notice that Cora is awake, and carefully bring Ben back down onto his chest, holding his son close] I love you, kiddo. I promise I'm going to do right by you.
Ben: [is starting to get a handle on pushing himself up a bit and he plants his hands on Stiles' chest so that he can push up and see more]
Stiles: You're not going to go back to sleep any time soon, are you?
Ben: [nope. Sorry Dad. The world is cool and safe and you're awake! Why would you want to go back to sleep, sleep is lame.]
Stiles: [sighs and lets his head fall back against the pillow] Yeah, you're going to be just like your sister.
Cora: I think he's going to be sneakier than his sister.
Stiles: Yeah, he has a bit of Hale blood in him - you're a sneaky bunch.
Cora: He's also much quieter than Dina. When he gets up in the morning or from his nap, he'll just lie awake for a while, watching everything.
Stiles: Yeah, I've noticed. He just likes to look at the world around him and figure it out.
Cora: He's gonna be smart.
Stiles: Well, yeah. He gets it come both sides of the gene pool.
Cora: Yep. And too curious for his own good.
Stiles: I'm sure he'll put it to good use.
Cora: Yes, he will. [she inches forward and brushes a hand against the top of Ben's head]
Stiles: He's going to drive Dina crazy.
Cora: That was a given.
Stiles: Probably us too.
Cora: Also a given.
Stiles: [lifts Ben up again] You're just lucky we love you.
Ben: [WHEEEEEEEEE FLYING]
Stiles: [laughs] Look at his face.
Cora: [grins as she looks up at him] He loves it.
Stiles: I foresee our curious, genius child having many bruises and injuries from great adventures.
Cora: Yeah, but if he's lucky, once he turns eight he'll be able to fix himself.
Stiles: If he's lucky. Otherwise he'll just be happy his uncle is a doctor and grandmother is a nurse.
Cora: Pretty much.
Stiles: [lowers him back down again, putting him in the space between him and Cora]
Cora: [Ben settles onto his back again, kicking his legs around and grabbing hold of one of his feet] He'll have a good life though. That much is certain.
Stiles: At least his first few years will be better than what Dina got.
Cora: Dina may not have had a good mom, but she still had you.
Stiles: I know. But Ben has both of us.
Cora: And so does Dina.
Stiles: Yeah. We all do.
Cora: [leans over and kisses him gently] We are all going to be just fine.
Stiles: [kisses her back] Yup.
Cora: [smiles, before sitting up and moving to scoop up Ben] C'mon. I think it's time for breakfast.
Stiles: Lucky boy.
Cora: [smirks] Pancakes?
Stiles: Oh, my breakfast, not his?
Cora: I was thinking both.
Stiles: Well, alright then. I will always get out of bed for pancakes.
Cora: Meet you downstairs?
Stiles: Yeah. I'll just grab a quick shower.
Cora: [nods and off she goes to make breakfast with Ben]
