canon au } { post-511, of catatonic episodes and ornery hellhounds

Parrish: [so he's sleeping nice and warm in bed, and suddenly he's in the forest, looking around. He can hear his name being called over and over again, just barely able to recognize the voice. He tries to follow it]

Lydia: [and as he approaches the nematon, he'll find her standing next to it, barefoot and in her standard issue Eichen House garb, staring at the rings in the giant stump as though she's trying to count them]

Parrish: [and he's in his uniform, something he hasn't worn in a while now] Lydia?

Lydia: [she doesn't respond at first, just staring into the distance and counting the rings, almost like she's counting the seconds, then she turns to face him eyes still vacant as she starts to step towards him]

Parrish: [is so confused] Hey, what's wrong? How did you even get out here?

Lydia: [nope, no words still, her hand just comes up once she's close enough, and two fingers with destroyed finger nails come up and rest against his chest, drawing a streak of blood against the gold of his deputy star]

Parrish: [he looks down and sees the blood] You're hurt. Come on, we need to get you help.

Lydia: Not me. [that's the only words he'll get before the connection drops and he jerks awake]

Parrish: [and yup, he's sitting up straight, eyes orange and heart pounding]

Laura: [startles awake because light sleeper] Jordan?

Parrish: [breathing hard, and he looks down at her. It's him, but the eyes are still glowing, though starting to fade] Something's wrong.

Laura: What is it?

Parrish: I... I just had a dream about Lydia. I don't think it was a dream though.

Laura: [shifts and sits up a little more] You think she was trying to communicate with you?

Parrish: Maybe. Let me just check something real fast. [and he's going to grab his cell phone and call the orderly at Eichen house and use his deputy voice and oh look they are on lockdown because a patient escaped. He will hang up] She's not at Eichen house. I think I know where she is.

Laura: Want me to go with you?

Parrish: No... I need you to check on something else for me. If she was sending me a message, someone's in trouble.

Laura: What do you need me to do?

Parrish: In the dream she... I was wearing my uniform, and she touched my badge. Her fingers were bleeding and I asked her if she was hurt. She said it wasn't her. [he licks his lips] I think she was warning me one of the deputies was about to be attacked by a chimera.

Laura: So you need me to tell Lindsay?

Parrish: Yes, and if it's not her, it could be any of them. They need help.

Laura: Alright. I'll find out who. You go get Lydia, it's freezing tonight.

Parrish: Thank you. [and he will kiss her and off to get dressed and racing to the preserve]

Lydia: [and when he gets there, he will find Lydia, kneeling not too far from the nematon, practically freezing and on the rock in front of her is a badge drawn out in blood]

Parrish: [and he is taking his jacket off and wrapping it around her] Lydia... Lydia I'm here.

Lydia: [and she's back to being not responsive again, barely even acknowledges him or his jacket. she just keeps staring at the stone and hoping he gets the message]

Parrish: Can you tell me who is going to be killed? [because you know, Banshee]

Lydia: [nope. no response. Sorry, Parrish, that's the only clue you get. But the ends of her fingers are bloody, just like in the vision he had]

Parrish: [and he's going to look at the symbol closer, and then he's going to curse and grab his phone because he sees the shield number now. Ring ring Laura]

Laura: [picks up on the second ring] Yeah?

Parrish: It's Stilinski. Whatever it is is going after him.

Laura: [and she will shift gears] Heading to the hospital now. I take it you found Lydia?

Parrish: Yeah. I'm going to bring her to the hospital. I'll meet you there. [but he is going to stop at Scott's first, obviously]

Laura: [obviously] Be careful. [and with that she will hang up so he can get going]

Parrish: [and he is going to turn Lydia to face him] Laura's going to help the sheriff. Lydia, can you talk at all?

Lydia: [Parrish, if she could talk you think she would have done that by now. but nope, just the same vacant stare. She's also really cold and has no shoes so maybe you should do this in the car where it's warm.]

Parrish: [yeah, he's going to do that, taking her gently back and then heading out to Scott's place where we will catch up with canon on this stuff]

Laura: [yay canon! And the two of them eventually meet up at the hospital?]

Parrish: [and once he has Lydia being checked out and her mother called, he will take a seat. Scott went upstairs to check on the Sheriff so yeah. Plus he feels he needs to be here to protect Lydia]

Laura: [will wander over eventually to sit next to him, slipping her hand in his]

Parrish: [holds her hand and squeezes] How's the sheriff?

Laura: Not good. They're not sure what's wrong with him, so we need to find the chimera that attacked him.

Parrish: I um.... I need to stay here.

Laura: Okay. Do you want me to stay with you?

Parrish: I'm sure Scott and Stiles will put aside their anger to work to save the Sheriff, right?

Laura: They might need a little nudging, but I think so. Cora's with them.

Parrish: Good. [he thinks a moment] Lydia once compared us both to being harbingers of death. Did anything about the hellhounds talk about being linked to banshees?

Laura: [she gives a small shrug] Hellhounds are said to be the bearers of death. That seeing one means you'll die soon. So maybe they're connected because they're both death omens. A banshee has a barghest for protection.

Parrish: Then maybe it wasn't the nematon that drew me here.

Laura: Maybe it was her?

Parrish: Ever since I've met her, I've always felt the need to protect her.

Laura: From what I've heard about her experiences in this town, she probably needs it.

Parrish: At least that I can try and do. I'm good at protecting people. Though I can't protect her while she's in Eichen House.

Laura: Eichen House isn't the best solution, but it's also a safe one. Most supernatural things can't get to her there.

Parrish: Yeah, most. Including me.

Laura: And including the Dread Doctors.

Parrish: They got in there before.

Laura: They'd need Kira to do it again, and she's far away. I don't think there's another thunder kitsune around.

Parrish: No, but they have Theo.

Laura: And Theo can get around the mountain ash. [sighs] Well, unless you're going to join up as a security guard, we'll just have to figure out another way.

Parrish: And hope that Mrs. Martin doesn't ban me from the visitor list.

Laura: Have you done anything to piss her off?

Parrish: No. I'm usually the one taking care of her. But so does Stiles and I think she blames him and Scott for this.

Laura: We'll see what happens.

Parrish: We will figure it all out. I know we will.

Laura: [she nods and squeezes his hand] How strong are these protective urges where Lydia is concerned?

Parrish: When I woke up, that was all I wanted to do.

Laura: What if someone was between you and her?

Parrish: I guess it would come down to why. I mean, the hound likes you so it won't hurt you.

Laura: [Laura thinks "like" is an overstatement - he tolerates her because Jordan loves her] But it will hurt other people. Like my arsonphobic sister.

Parrish: You'll have to ask him.

Laura: [she takes a deep breath before nodding] Maybe later.

Parrish: [he looks at Laura and wraps his arm around her shoulder] I don't think Cora would try to hurt Lydia though.

Laura: No. But she might try and stop you from hurting an innocent person to get to her.

Parrish: [yeah, he doesn't know about that. Because he had hurt Lindsay and that... yeah]

Laura: [Yeah. They'll just not talk about this for right now. she curls into him more and closes her eyes] We'll figure it out.

Parrish: I hope so. [his eyes going to the doors leading back to where Lydia is]

Laura: [she glances up at him before leaning in to kiss his cheek] Want me to go get some coffee?

Parrish: Oh god yes.

Laura: I'll be right back. [and with that she will head off to get coffee]

Parrish: [and he will just... get up and go see if he can check on Lydia's status]

Mrs. Martin: [is sitting with her daughter, waiting for her transfer back to Eichen House. Every time Natalie tries to engage her the response is the same: "I told you to wait in the car."]

Parrish: [knocks on the door] Mrs. Martin?

Mrs. Martin: [glances back and her reaction is not as violent as it was with Stiles but she doesn't exactly look pleased to see him either] Deputy. Thank you, for finding her.

Parrish: It was the least I could, ma'am. I just wanted to see how she was doing.

Mrs. Martin: Same as before, really. I'm waiting for the orderlies from Eichen House to come and transfer her back.

Parrish: [he wanted to remind her that an orderly there had tried to kill her daughter there. Lydia's grandmother. But he couldn't bring more pain to the woman. She was just trying to do what she felt was best for Lydia in the end] Do you want some company to sit with you while you wait? Laura was just going to get me coffee and I can text her to get you something.

Mrs. Martin: [shakes her head as she looks back at Lydia again] Actually I would prefer it if you left.

Parrish: [nods] I understand. [he looks at Lydia, not wanting to leave.]

Mrs. Martin: It's not personal. I'm sure you're very good at your job, and I'm grateful you found her, but you're enabling teenagers to get themselves killed, and I won't have that around her. Not anymore.

Parrish: If I may... I'm trying to keep those teenagers from getting killed. I don't need to enable them. I usually try to deter them if I can.

Mrs. Martin: Deterring them isn't stopping them. After what happened to her grandmother, I tried ... [she takes a deep breath and turns to face him] What you're doing isn't good enough. You're hurting more than you're helping.

Parrish: [he just looks down, and nods. He knows what Stiles told him - she knows what's going on but refuses to believe] She's going to beat this though. I know it.

Mrs. Martin: [if only hope and determination actually helped] I hope you're right.

Parrish: Me too. [nods] I'll leave now, but if you need anything... please don't hesitate to call me.

Mrs. Martin: [she nods but she probably won't. no offense, Parrish]

Parrish: [and he is going to leave and go off back to where he was sitting before]

Laura: [returns with the coffee, moving to sit down next to him, and hands his cup over to him]

Parrish: [takes it and sighs] She's going to send Lydia back, and doesn't want me to see her. She says I enable them.

Laura: [reaches her hand forward and brushes her hand against his temple] Her daughter is catatonic. She's feeling protective right now.

Parrish: I know. The problem is - so am I.

Laura: I know. But she's not kicking you out of the hospital. You can protect her from here.

Parrish: Maybe if I got a job at Eichen, she’ll take her out.

Laura: Or she'll get you fired.

Parrish: She'd have to prove cause.

Laura: Or she'll take her out and take her out of Beacon Hills, and if you follow she will get you arrested for stalking.

Parrish: Taking her out of Beacon Hills may be a good thing though.

Laura: Maybe. But will the hound let her be away from him?

Parrish: I don't know.

Laura: [deep breath] Then let's just ... keep her here for now. She just thinks she's doing the best she can for her.

Parrish: I know. [and he stiffens when he sees the Eichen House people show up, one who just watches Parrish carefully]

Laura: [and she will glare at him right back because who are you. her fingers brush through his hair to give him an anchor to keep Parrish calm]

Parrish: We should go. Maybe go upstairs and check on the Sheriff.

Laura: [she nods with a small smile] Okay. [And she'll go take his hand to pull him away]

Parrish: [and they can mosey on upstairs as Cora, Stiles, Scott and Melissa are talking about Theo]

Laura: [none of that sounds good] Everything okay?

Scott: He wants to draw Theo out.

Stiles: A Chimera did this. He's like, the king of the chimeras. I'm not going to let my dad die!

Laura: Whoa, Stiles, no one is going to let your dad die. Have you called Willow?

Cora: [she nods] She's on her way.

Stiles: And if she's not here in time? Or she can't stop it? I'm not risking that.

Laura: And you think drawing Theo out will give you answers?

Stiles: He wants me as part of his pack. Helping me is in his best interest.

Laura: [she makes a face before shaking her head] This sounds hinky. It doesn't feel right.

Scott: At least let me help. I can stay out of sight, listen to his heartbeat...

Stiles: [looks at Scott, not really wanting his help]

Laura: [will pull rank and be alpha. or at least alpha like] Scott is right. You should have back up.

Stiles: [runs his hand over his face a moment. He's running frantic and scared] Fine. Just don't let him get your scent. He still thinks you're dead.

Laura: Do it at Scott's house. He probably doesn't have enough training to tell the difference between a fresh scent and an old one.

Stiles: [nods, getting up and then looking at Cora] Can you stay here and watch over Dad? I don't want him to be alone...

Cora: [looks nervous about that because she's not sure that's a good idea either and ...]

Laura: Jordan and I will stay. I'll keep him from being in too much pain.

Stiles: [he looks at Laura and nods] Thanks. [They've come a long way from her hating him on principle of his dating Cora]

Laura: [Yes they have. and however she feels about Stiles, she likes the Sheriff]

Scott: Come on, the faster we do this.

Stiles: Yeah, I know.

Cora: [glances back to her sister] I'll call you when we're done.

Laura: [nods] Be careful. [and she'll let them go with that]

Stiles: [and off they go to try and lure a Theo into a trap for information, and Stiles obtains his first head injury of the night]

Cora: [gdi Stiles]

Stiles: [Not his fault!]

Cora: [sure it isn't]
