canon au } { post-511, of hospital visits and pizza bagels for breakfast
Jody: [swings by after she finishes the damage control at the high school (again) and makes her way to the hospital to see the sheriff. She's happy to relieve Willow (who is visible again, thanks to it being visiting hours), and moves to stand next to him, brushing a hand over the top of his head gently] You are turning out to be terrible for my nerves.
Sheriff: [wakes up, and then smiles up at her] I warned you about settling here.
Jody: Yeah, you did. I can deal with a crazy town, but I'd prefer you being in the hospital less.
Sheriff: Well, they finally got out the thing that was keeping me from recovering. I should be better soon.
Jody: Good. Because I'd feel a lot better if you were home.
Sheriff: That mean you're going to stay at my house when I move back in?
Jody: [takes a deep breath] That is up to you and Stiles.
Sheriff: [looks over at his sleeping son] If I'm out of here by New Years, he's going back to Berkeley.
Jody: Then I guess that's up to you.
Sheriff: I think I'd like it. The house would be too quiet.
Jody: [she nods] Okay. I'll let the girls know we're going to stay. [that's right, Sheriff. Hope you're prepared to be surrounded by women]
Sheriff: Good. [hope they are prepared to have a dad]
Jody: [Claire'll probably love it. Alex on the other hand, won't know what to do with it.] Good.
Sheriff: [nods over to Stiles] He's got a concussion.
Jody: [sighs] That doesn't surprise me.
Sheriff: He tried.
Jody: He was really worried about you.
Sheriff: It goes both ways when he's off on his own antics.
Jody: [she nods] I know. But you were the one in trouble this time.
Sheriff: But not anymore. They got the bone fragment out.
Jody: We just have to survive the Dread Doctors and Theo having his own pack now and whatever the hell Parrish is.
Sheriff: Hellhound.
Jody: Yeah, I'm not sold on that. I've seen hellhounds - or rather, haven't seen them - and he's certainly the most visible hellhound I've ever seen.
Sheriff: Well, we can call it that for the moment at least.
Jody: [nods slowly] You know, I've been tempted to have the boys ask their demon contact to see if they can tell us anything, but the guy also tried to kill me once, so not really sure if I should let him know any kind of hellhound is on the loose.
Sheriff: I agree. I'd prefer no more demons in my town if I can avoid it.
Jody: He was a really crappy date too.
Sheriff: Hopefully I'll be able to give you a proper one when I'm out of here.
Jody: I would really like that.
Stiles: And things I don't want to hear when I'm waking up.
Sheriff: [chuckles]
Jody: [looks over with a smirk] Morning, Stiles.
Stiles: Not that I'm complaining. Just you know, don't need to know details on his love life. [total lie. Cora will be able to tell that in her sleep]
Jody: [yeah, Jody can tell that without even blinking] I'll try to protect your virgin ears.
Sheriff: As much as I hate to admit it, at this point I highly doubt he's a virgin.
Stiles: Ew, gross Dad.
Jody: It's an expression.
Cora: [totally making a face against Stiles' shoulder]
Sheriff: I'm aware.
Stiles: You didn't by chance bring breakfast?
Jody: I did not, but if the doctors are looking to release you, I will buy when Willow gets back.
Sheriff: They are probably going to keep me another day or two just to be safe. Melissa mentioned checking for complications and infections since they had to open me back up again.
Jody: [she nods] Then breakfast will be on me then too.
Stiles: Bagels would be awesome. Pizza bagels.
Jody: [squints] That does not sound like breakfast.
Stiles: I'm having a bagel and fruit and dairy. Totally breakfast.
Jody: Uh-huh.
Sheriff: How about donuts?
Stiles: Why be stereotypical?
Jody: [to Sheriff] You just had surgery. You're not eating anything that isn't doctor approved. [to Stiles] If you want real food, you gotta be well enough to release - according to a doctor. [basically aggressively moms]
Stiles: .... Did you just mom me?
Jody: [eyebrows raised like what are you going to do about it?]
Stiles: [shrinks back against Cora a bit] Okay, yeah that's going to be weird.
Cora: [softly, to escape the human hearing on the other side of the room] I think you'll get used to it.
Stiles: [he's going to just make his little unsure whine, rolling over to face her and snuggle into his girlfriend]
Cora: [smirks as he turns to face her, letting her hand rest against his shoulder] Feeling better?
Stiles: Yeah. I was really tired.
Cora: Good.
Sheriff: [shakes his head at the two of them, unable to hear them and just looks up at Jody] How are things going?
Stiles: I think I'm going to just take today off from doing anything.
Cora: That sounds like a really good plan.
Jody: [she shrugs] Still kinda crazy. Lydia Martin broke out of Eichen House last night.
Sheriff: I thought she was catatonic.
Jody: Still is. Far as we can tell, anyway. She wasn't exactly what I would call "responsive" when Parrish found her.
Sheriff: Yeah. Stiles isn't allowed to visit her there because of that.
Jody: [pauses for a moment before nodding] Yeah. Parrish isn't ether.
Sheriff: I'd try to talk to her but... to be honest I don't blame her. She's just trying to help her.
Jody: [she nods] I think it's just best if the Martins have their space for right now.
Sheriff: I can talk to them when I'm released and at least get status updates for the department.
Jody: [she nods] That'll help, probably.
Sheriff: Anything else?
Jody: [there's a pause] Hayden Romero took the deputies up to the nematon to find the bodies of the other chimeras there.
Sheriff: [nods, and looks over at his son]
Stiles: [yeah, he's gone silent, looking at Cora]
Jody: We're still waiting on IDs and once that's done they'll start working on cause of death. Not all of them are obvious, but we'll see what happens.
Cora: [looks back at him and squeezes his hand gently]
Sheriff: I think I have a few of them in my chimera file. Just do me a favor and let me know if you catch wind of Donovan Donati being identified. His father was a former deputy.
Jody: [she nods] Will do. I'll keep you in the loop.
