spamalot } { of clocks and growing babies

Talia: [is cooking dinner, occasionally glancing over her shoulder to see how Dina is doing] What are you working on, sweetie?

Dina: Clocks.

Talia: [nods] Clocks. Your mom always had a hard time with analog clocks when she was learning.

Dina: I don't like it when the big hand is not on a number.

Talia: She kept getting which was which confused.

Dina: I'm supposed to make the small hand only half the size of the big hand.

Talia: Not all clockmakers do that. It makes it easy to get confused.

Dina: They aren't nice if they don't make the small hand small. It’s the small hand.

Talia: [she laughs] You make a very valid point.

Dina: [and she is going to draw another one, biting on her lip in a fashion just like her dad] Why do people have clocks anymore, grandma? You have the time on your phone.

Talia: Well, what if you can't find your phone?

Dina: You can look on the computer.

Talia: And what if your computer isn't on.

Dina: Then there is the time on the oven.

Talia: Well, that is a clock, isn't it?

Dina: But it doesn't have hands.

Talia: That doesn't mean it's not a clock, sweetie. The clocks with hands are just a different kind of clock.

Dina: Ok, I will resay my words. Why do people have clocks with hands anymore?

Talia: Some of them are family heirlooms. And some are quiet beautiful.

Dina: [her nose wrinkles]

Talia: My grandmother had a very pretty one that used to sit in the front hall. That is, until there was an unfortunate incident with your uncles that didn't end well.

Dina: Which uncles?

Talia: Peter and Derek.

Dina: What did they do?

Talia: A basketball went awry and smashed into the front of the clock face. I meant to have it fixed, but there wasn't anyone locally who could work with that kind of clock. I would have to send it to Portland, and I never got around to it.

Dina: So where is it now?

Talia: Upstairs in the attic.

Dina: Can I see it?

Talia: [she pauses for a moment before nodding] Sure. Let me just put this in the oven.

Dina: Okay. I have two more clocks to do.

Talia: You finish that while I finish this.

Dina: Yes, Grandma. [and she will, focusing very hard]

Talia: [and a few minutes later, dinner is in the oven and she turns back to Dina] You finished?

Dina: Almooooooost YES! [pencil down]

Talia: Excellent. This has to cook for an hour, so let's see if we can find that clock.

Dina: Okay! [and she is slipping off her chair and going to the stairs. Beyond her, Thomas is still sleeping with Ben on his chest]

Talia: [adorable. and off they go, all the way up to the attic and Talia turns on the overhead light before letting them both into the dusty room] Now, it's very tall and delicate, so be careful if you find it.

Dina: [she will rub her nose, and then look around] There's a lot of old stuff in here.

Talia: Yes there is. My family's lived in this house a long time.

Dina: Did you mommy live here?

Talia: She did. And my grandmother as well.

Dina: And her mommy?

Talia: [she shakes her head] She lived in a different part of town.

Dina: Are you going to be the last one to live here then?

Talia: [smiles softly, before shaking her head] No. Either your mother or Uncle Derek will wind up taking it. Most likely your mom because Derek already has plans for a house.

Dina: So can it be mine after her?

Talia: Maybe. That would be up to you and your brother.

Dina: I was born first. Totally mine. It went from mommy to daughter and he's not a daughter.

Talia: No, that's true. He's not.

Dina: I miss living here. [and she's looking in a box]

Talia: You don't like your new home?

Dina: I do. But this was my first home when we moved here.

Talia: It was. And it will always be your first home. But just because it's your first home, doesn't mean it will be your only home.

Dina: I know that. But you're here.

Talia: [turns and moves to crouch down so that she's eye level with her] And I will always be here, whenever you need me. I promise.

Dina: Promise?

Talia: Cross my heart.

Dina: [and she will just wrap her arms around Talia's neck and hold her tightly]

Talia: [holds her back just as tightly, pressing a kiss to her temple]

Dina: I love you, Grandma.

Talia: I love you too, Dina. So much.

Dina: [and she will let her go and smile.]

Talia: [smiles back before glancing over her shoulder] I think I see our clock.

Dina: [she turns to look as well, and then she sees it] Wow.

Talia: [yep. it's tall and made of glass panels with gold chimes and right in the face is a cracked panel of glass that was never repaired] Yeah.

Dina: It would still be pretty without a clock in it.

Talia: Yes it would. But it was made to be a clock. Just like you were made to be a girl.

Dina: Daddy said that if i ever wanted to be a boy, I just had to tell him.

Talia: [... Stiles.] Do you want to be a boy?

Dina: Not anymore.

Talia: Then you were meant to be a girl.

Dina: I like being a girl.

Talia: Me too.

Dina: Maybe Daddy can fix the clock.

Talia: It takes a very special kind of repairman to fix a clock like that.

Dina; My daddy can fix almost anything though.

Talia: Almost anything, but not this I'm afraid.

Dina: You should get it fixed now.

Talia: Maybe I will.

Dina: It can go in my room. I will take care of it.

Talia: Well, in order for it to go there, you'll have to finish learning how to read it.

Dina: I really don't have a choice in that. I have to for school.

Talia: [she laughs] Yes, but you'll have to remember it.

Dina: I will if I have a clock to look at every day. [totally a Stilinski]

Talia: [chuckles softly] We'll see. [and her head tips as she hears someone come inside] And that sounds like your mom.

Dina: [and her face lights up and sorry, Talia, she's going to take off running to find her mommy]

Talia: [that's fine she'll let her go and head down the stairs after her]

Cora: [and is going to go right in to gently take a sleeping Ben off her dad's chest]

Thomas: [stirs, looking up at Cora] Hey angel.

Dina: [down the stairs] Mommy!

Cora: [smiles at both of them] Hey guys. Ready to go home?

Dina: Grandma has a clock upstairs that I am going to really learn my clocks so that she can put it in my bedroom.

Cora: [pauses then blinks and looks down at her dad] Clock?

Thomas: [sitting up] You talking 'bout the gold and glass one in the attic, sunshine?

Dina: Uh huh. Grandma said it was up there 'cause Uncle Peter and Uncle Derek broke it.

Cora: Oh. That clock.

Dina: [nods] And then one day I'm going to live here with my family.

Cora: Is that so?

Dina: Uh huh. All of grandma's mommies and grandmommies lived here. It's a girl's house.

Cora: [she smiles a bit] Well, we'll see. Right now, we gotta go home so we can have dinner before your dad and I take Ben to his appointment tonight.

Dina: What appointment? [but she is going to go get her stuff in the kitchen]

Cora: Just a check up to make sure he's healthy and learning everything he's supposed to.

Dina: Is it with Uncle Jason?

Cora: [she nods] Yep.

Dina: Can I come? I haven't seen Jonathan in days.

Cora: We're going to the hospital, sweetie, Jonathan won't be there. But maybe we can have him come over this weekend. You're going to hang out with Aunt Lydia tonight.

Dina: I do? Awesome.

Cora: Good. [and a small smile to her parents once Dina's ready to go] Thanks again.

Thomas: [getting up slowly, still looking very tired] Anytime, angel.

Cora: [watching his, concerned for a moment] You okay, Dad?

Thomas: Yeah, just getting old. Happens to all of us at some point.

Cora: [she nods, but she's still going to worry] Alright. I'll see you on Sunday, okay?

Thomas: See you girls then.

Cora: [and to the car they go, as Cora maneuvers a still sleeping Ben into his car seat]

Dina: [and she can put her own seatbelt on now in her booster seat. Such a big girl]

Cora: [and home they drive where Stiles is already cooking dinner?]

Cora: [watches as Lydia retreats to her room and glances down at the sleepy boy in her arms. he's trying to hold on but it's clear with every motion that he's going to be asleep sooner rather than later] I'm going to take him upstairs and put him down.

Stiles: Okay. Want me to get you anything down here?

Cora: [she shakes her head] I'm good. I think I'm going to head to bed myself after this.

Stiles: Okay. Let me just check on Dina and I’ll meet you there.

Cora: [she nods and up she goes to change Ben, getting him into his pajamas and walking him a bit until he gives up the ghost and conks out completely. Once he does, in the crib he goes, and she's just going to stand there, watching him a bit as he sleeps]

Stiles: [and he is going to check on Dina, making sure her cup of water is filled and leaning in to give her a kiss and tuck her in again before going to the nursery and just smiling as he watches them]

Cora: [hears him as he approaches because werewolf, and she won't glance up at first, letting her hand brush over the top of Ben's head gently] He's getting so big.

Stiles: Yeah, they have a habit of doing that. Eventually they will be six, going to school and wanting to marry their cousin no matter how often you tell her it's illegal.

Cora: [laughs] She'll grow out of it, I'm sure.

Stiles: I'm sure. Or she'll get a reality check on law from her Grandfather Argent.

Cora: Mmmm-hmmm. [and she'll glance up to him with a sigh] I'm not ready for him to get bigger though.

Stiles: [and he will come over, sliding his arms behind her] You never will be.

Cora: [leans back into him, moving her arms to rest on his] I know. Still. It feels like it's going too fast.

Stiles: It evens out when they hit two. [nuzzles her neck] Though if you want, we can always start a second one so that you can have a baby again when this one is walking and terrible twoing.

Cora: [she laughs softly] He's not even one yet.

Stiles: And it takes at least ten months to make another one. [he's teasing, but his hands are sliding up to rub along her stomach]

Cora: [hums softly because she does like him touching her and she did miss this] Are you sure you want this to happen during this one's terrible twos? Because I have a feeling he's going to be a handful.

Stiles: Well, we can always just practice for a while...

Cora: I never will say no to practice.

Stiles: Think I can tempt you away from the crib then?

Cora: I think it shouldn't be too hard.

Stiles: [he slides away from her, his fingers going to start unbuttoning his shirt] Is this working?

Cora: [her eyebrows go up a bit, turning as she moves to catch his wrist and pull him closer again] It's a start.

Stiles: [rakes his teeth over his lower lip] Maybe I can unbutton something lower?

Cora: [she hums softly as she leans in to kiss him] Not here.

Stiles: [kisses her back] Our bedroom.

Cora: [she nods and leans in to kiss him again, backing towards the door]

Stiles: [he will let her lead him, turning on the baby monitor, off the light and closing the door gently behind him while his lips are still attached to hers]

Cora: [they've gotten good at this. and she will guide them back towards the bedroom and once that door is closed behind them, she'll pick up where he left off with his shirt]

Stiles: [and he will get to work on her clothes as well, grinning against her lips]

Cora: [and once they're sufficiently naked, onto the bed they go]

Stiles: [and he will stretch out on top of her, slowly kissing his way down her body]

Cora: [she closes her eyes as she leans back against the bed, just relaxing into his touch]

Stiles: You know, you look fabulous for someone who had a baby barely a year ago. [kisses her stomach]

Cora: [she laughs softly, brushing her fingers through his hair] Bet you're glad you married a werewolf.

Stiles: I'm glad I married you. Werewolf or not.

Cora: [looks at him softly] I'm glad I married you too.

Stiles: [he will smirk at her, and then gently nip at her thigh as he guides her legs apart]

Cora: [there's an "eep" as she lets him, parting her legs and relaxing back against the pillows]

Stiles: [and he will just go and make her very, very happy with just his tongue and fingers]

Cora: [yes, your oral fixation is one of the reasons why she loves you, Stiles. And she's just going to lean back and enjoy it, carding her fingers through his hair as her hips move against those fingers]

Stiles: [his mouth is good for so many things. but he will get her nice and ready, and then slide up her body and kiss her as he goes hunting for a condom]

Cora: [and she will let her hand wander down to brush against him as she waits for him to find the condom. Part of her wants to tell him to forget the condom, but they aren't ready for another baby yet. she knows that]

Stiles: [and he may just delay that whole looking for a condom to let her enjoy playing with him for a while. They need to try and learn the rhythm method soon]

Cora: [yes, they do, until then she's going to nibble at his neck let her hand slide over him, keeping him ready for her]

Stiles: [and when he feels close, he will put the condom on her chest] Since you're already down there and all.

Cora: [smirks and she slips the condom on him, before using her legs to pull him closer]

Stiles: [and he will shift closer, and soon he will press into her, thrusting in as deep as he can]

Cora: [moans softly as her head tips back, shifting to find is lips again and her hips move to meet his]

Stiles: [and he will groan against her shoulder as he takes his time at first, just enjoying the feeling of her body gripping him]

Cora: [she's good with him taking his time, sliding her hands over his skin as she keeps him close and keeping time with his thrusts]

Stiles: [and eventually he will speed up, his lips kissing along her jaw until he finds her only scar and teases it with his teeth]

Cora: [she shivers softly under his touch, tipping her head back so that he can have better access as her hips work back against his]

Stiles: [and it's not going to take much longer before he's at that point where he's thrusting in hard, fingers digging into her skin]

Cora: [and she's falling over the edge with him, gripping his back tightly before she relaxes under him]

Stiles: [and he will bite into her shoulder with his teeth, not breaking skin but showing her that love he knew her wolf needed as he joined her in orgasm]

Cora: [she shivers again at the feel of his teeth, her eyes glowing gold when they open to look at him again]

Stiles: [he will look at her and smile, kissing her again] You're beautiful when you glow.

Cora: [she closes her eyes into the kiss and when she opens them they're her usual brown again] I'm glad you think so.

Stiles: You're beautiful to me no matter what. I love every part of you.

Cora: Good. I love every part of you too.

Stiles: [and he will lean down to kiss her again gently, snuggling into her]

Cora: [kisses him back softly, nuzzling into his shoulder]

Stiles: We should probably get some sleep.

Cora: Probably. Ben will be up before we know it.

Stiles: [and he will roll them a bit, pulling Cora more into him as he pulls up the covers over them]

Cora: [and she will just snuggle in and pass out not long after]

Stiles: [same here, until it's time to change a diaper or go to work. One or the other]

Cora: [yep. Sleeping the sleep of the exhausted parents]
