Fiona: [......] I swear to God I'm not stalking you.
Derek: [eyebrows go up] So what, you delivering girl scout cookies then?
Fiona: No, I ... I'm ... [a beat] I'm at work?
Derek: [looks at the door, then her] You work for my mom?
Fiona: Talia is your mom? [a beat] That doesn't answer the question. Yes. I work for Talia. I'm helping her find the alpha that bit Scott.
Derek: [drops his laundry bag to cross his arms] No, I just like bringing my laundry to a stranger’s house in the middle of the woods. [a pause] And how are you going to do that?
Fiona: [SIGH] I'm an emissary.
Derek: Deaton is our emissary. So what do you do, freelance?
Fiona: ... Pretty much? I work specialized cases. Deaton provides the advice and proverbs and parables. My way of doing things is a little more proactive.
Derek: [nods slowly] Alright then. [and he goes to grab his bag]
Fiona: [there's a beat as she watches him, her brow furrowing a bit] Alright then? That's it?
Derek: Were you expecting the Spanish Inquisition? My mom trusts you, that's enough. And honestly, I'm all for a bit of proactiveness in this place anyway.
Fiona: [exhales] Okay then. [There's a beat as she plays with the strap of her bag.] So I'm gonna ... go.
Derek: [he nods, moving to let her pass] Though one thing. What's your name?
Fiona: [a slight smirk before she glances over to him] Fiona O'Malley.
Derek: Derek Hale. Nice to actually meet you, Fiona.
Fiona: Nice to meet you too, Derek. [and with that she heads down the stairs] See you tomorrow. [because if you think she's still not getting her coffee, you're crazy]
Derek: [smirks a bit as he watches her ride off, then turns to go into the house]
Talia: [is down the hall from the door and raises and eyebrow at him] Friend of yours?
Derek: Seems your emissary for hire is a regular at the coffee shop.
Talia: Ah. Guess that's fortunate.
Derek: She's not there to spy on me at all, right?
Talia: [laughs] No. She's there because she's trying to drink enough coffee to give her an early heart attack.
Derek: [smirks just a bit] Well, I can secretly switch her to half caf and she'd never know the difference.
Talia: Are you sure about that?
Derek: No, not really. Most don't.
Talia: She would.
Derek: She one of those emissaries that has a small arsenal in her closet?
Talia: [a small hum of confirmation] And a dog.
Derek: [one eyebrow goes up] Really?
Talia: Big rottweiler named Bob.
Derek: How do you know all this?
Talia: She told me.
Derek: How long have you known her?
Talia: Likely about as long as you have. But we've been spending some time getting to know each other.
Derek: And she had no clue your only son was working at the coffee shop she frequents.
Talia: Well, what were you two talking about?
Derek: She was promising that she doesn't stalk me.
Talia: At the coffee shop, Derek.
Derek: Oh there? Nothing. [and he's going to go get his laundry started now]
Talia: [smirk] Mmm. So don't blame her for you not asking the right questions.
Derek: And what questions should I be asking her?
Talia: About herself? Small talk doesn't have to be completely wasteful.
Derek: Up until five minutes ago, she was the cute girl who came in twice a week for coffee that I chatted at for maybe a minute each time. Not a lot of time for deep, meaningful conversations.
Talia: I see.
Derek: So no luck on solving Scott's problem, huh?
Talia: Fiona's been trying hypnotism to see if she can glean any details about the wolf that bit him. So far, there hasn't been anything distinctive.
Derek: Has there been any strange wolf sightings in town?
Talia: Not that I or Deaton have heard of. That's what makes this even stranger.
Derek: Won't it come around at the full moon to try and tempt him away?
Talia: Hopefully he'll be part of the pack by then. We still have a couple weeks.
Derek: Hopefully.
Talia: If not, maybe we could use that lure to our advantage.
Derek: Are you going to want me to help on this?
Talia: We'll see what happens when we get there, but maybe.
Derek: Just let me know. They've been talking about scheduling me on nights for a while now.
Talia: [nods] I should know within the next week or so.
Derek: Thanks, Mom.
Talia: How is the coffee shop anyway?
Derek: Going good. They've moved me over to the machines for a while now, and I took this class on how to draw things in the foam. The guys said you get better tips if you can pull it off.
Talia: [a bit of a smirk] Is it paying off?
Derek: A little. [he gets more phone numbers than tips, but that can be just as nice sometimes.]
Talia: Good. [she doesn't need to know about the phone numbers part]
Derek: [he may be a momma's boy, but he doesn't share EVERYTHING] How are things going here?
Talia: Well. Scott is getting along with everyone at least. I think he'll be a good member of the pack, once he's figured everything out.
Derek: Well, that's good at least. Does his mom know yet?
Talia: We're working on it. [meaning Scott isn't ready to tell her] But Melissa is very nice.
Derek: Alright.
Talia: I think Scott still views this as something he can fix or change. He can't share that he's a wolf until he accepts that he's a wolf. Until then, he and Cora are lab partners.
Derek: So I take it the myth of killing the alpha that made you to go back to normal isn't true.
Talia: No. And considering we don't know who that alpha is and it may take time before we find them, Scott needs to learn to function as a wolf regardless.
Derek: [just nods, listening as he starts his laundry. He has nothing else he wants to talk about]
Talia: [nods and gives his shoulder a squeeze] Say goodbye before you go.
Derek: I will. May even stay for dinner if you have enough.
Talia: [gives him a bit of a look because she has teenage werewolves in the house] There's always enough.
Derek: Hey, just asking! [has been living a post-college lifestyle that involves a lot of ramen. He will put them all the shame]
Talia: [smiles a bit before wandering back towards the kitchen. She figures one of his sisters will wander through to distract him.]
