Olivia: Oh he probably could.
Hal: Not instilling a vote of confidence in my personal safety here, Liv.
Olivia: But he's not going to murder you just for existing.
Sam: No. That would be my brother who is sitting in the car.
Olivia: And Uncle Dean is not going to murder you either. [while Dean makes a face that says he makes no promises there]
Sam: Sorry we're a bit early. We were up in Beacon Hills over the weekend.
Olivia: Everything okay?
Sam: Yeah, Claire just needed some help with a project and needed my help. It went... a bit sideways bit we got it done.
Hal: as long as everyone walks away alive, I'm sure it's a win, right?
Olivia: Pretty much. That's good though.
Sam: That's our usual goal. [looks back at his brother] Um, listen if you guys want to hang out more, we could find a diner or something and come back...
Olivia: [glances back to Hal with a small shrug]
Hal: Well, we were going to eat too... and there's a place just outside of campus... [looks at Olivia]
Sam: [watches his daughter as well. It's her choice]
Olivia: I'm okay if we all eat together. [shouldn't be that huge a deal, right?]
Sam: Alright. We'll be behind you two. [and he will go back to Dean and get into the Impala] That went well...
Dean: What do you think?
Sam: Could be worse. Hopefully they're using condoms. [smirks at Dean]
Dean: [he laughs] Yeah. Fingers crossed.
Sam: Seems like a good kid though. I mean, he's dressed better than we are and it's not a school day
Dean: Everyone dresses better than we do
Sam: Yeah, but he's a nineteen year old boy on holiday. I'm surprised he showered.
Dean: [laughs] Yeah, I guess I see your point.
Sam: She looks happy though.
Dean: She does. Which is good, I guess.
Sam: I'm going to need to teach her how to drive now.
Dean: She's a pretty decent driver already.
Sam: Yeah, but she needs to get a license so she can drive legally and we can get her a car.
Dean: We can fake that. It's not like she has a social.
Sam: No, but she is starting to build a social life. And somehow she got herself a boyfriend while living in a bunker. Pretty sure she can do anything she puts her mind to.
Dean: So she can magic herself up a social security number? She doesn't exist here legally, Sam, it's a bit trickier than just taking her to take the test.
Sam: [sighs] Alright, point taken.
Dean: [nods once before looking over at him] That stuff the Sheriff said getting to you?
Sam: I just want her to eventually have a real life, Dean. She can have a choice to have a family and a real life. Just like Claire and Alex are getting. She doesn't need to be a hunter anymore if she finds something better.
Dean: [he takes a deep breath] You ever think that for her, hunter is the happy medium between how she grew up and the normal apple pie life that everyone thinks she should have?
Sam: I don't know. I'm not sure how to have that talk with her, actually.
Dean: [sighs] Look, she grew up running for her life and indoctrinated into a war she knew she was never going to win. She comes here, and she gets to slow down. What she knows how to do is hunt so she does that and she likes that but at the same time she gets to have friends and a boyfriend and a life. [then there's a frustrated huff] I know our lives have been a heaping pile of shit. I do. But ... that's us, man. We bring that shit on ourselves. Dawn and Derek are getting married, Lindsay and Ben are doin' okay. Cora and Stiles are going to college, and that's all with hunting worked in there somewhere. What makes our life any less real than Average Joe who has no clue what's happening behind the curtain?
Sam: Not having to worry about a vampire's meal deciding to come back and get revenge on her three years later.
Dean: No. For real people, it's a jealous exboyfriend or a jealous coworker. [purses his lips] And being part of their world doesn't mean this one goes away.
Sam: [leans his head back] Now I see why Bela felt she wasn't ready to be a parent.
Dean: Just talk to her. And try not to be judgy about it.
Sam: I'm not judgy.
Dean: You're a little judgy.
Sam: [rolls his eyes]
Dean: [gives him a look] You know that there's something "normal" because you grew up on a world with them side by side. She didn't. So right now, she thinks what she has is pretty good. Don't invalidate that for her because it isn't the American Dream.
Sam: I'll try.
Dean: Good. [and they will arrive at the food place to meet Hal and Olivia?]
Hal: [rewinding, in the car] Well, that went better than expected?
Olivia: Yeah. My dad's pretty cool, all things considered.
Hal: You think he's going to be okay with us?
Olivia: Honestly? I think he's relieved I'm doing something normal.
Hal: Normal to him, or in general?
Olivia: In general. My dad's from here. I mean, he was raised a hunter, but he always wanted a life like your parents have. He went to college and everything.
Hal: But he stayed being a hunter?
Olivia: It's ... a really long story. But he and my mom wouldn't have met if he didn't so ... bonus for me existing.
Hal: [laughs] True.
Olivia: My mom is like a fence for powerful supernatural shit, so not a hunter, but she knows enough. And my family has been hunting back to the Mayflower on my grandmother's side, while my grandfather's die were these people called Men of Letters? Huge research nerds.
Hal: You know, I bet my Dad would kill to learn about your grandfather's side.
Olivia: Probably. There are a ton of revolutionary war battles that his mind would be blown to know the real truth about.
Hal: Oh yeah. Seriously. Next thing he'll want to know is if aliens are real.
Olivia: Buffy said that a demon came from the moon once
Hal: Seriously?
Olivia: Yeah. It's target of choice was crazy people.
Hal: So most of the world.
Olivia: Well, they had a lot of them in Sunnydale at the time because there was a hellgod hanging around that was eating brains.
Hal: ...... Yeah sometimes I don't know if you're feeding me a story or not. You're really serious?
Olivia: You'd have to ask Buffy because I wasn't in this world for that one but she seemed pretty serious. Maybe my dad our Uncle Dean knows for sure.
Hal: So does this mean I get to come to meet all these people next big family gathering?
Olivia: If you want? Though I think our next huge get together is Thanksgiving.
Hal: It'd save my folks a plane ticket for me only being home for like, 4 days.
Olivia: Okay. So ... next Thanksgiving you can come to Beacon Hills.
Hal: It's a date.
Olivia: Perfect. [and they meet up with her dad and uncle at the diner?]
Hal: [yup. and he would get up and hold the door for her but he wasn't sure if she would want that]
Olivia: [she does not care. but the four of them will shuffle inside and she will happily fill her uncle in on all the good food because she knows where his priorities lie and it is not in eating healthy. They are alike that way.]
Sam: [that's fine. since Sam is the one reading the healthy menu]
Hal: [points at a few things and ask if she wants to split so they can get both]
Olivia: Works for me. Ooh and we should get that spinach artichoke stuff. That was really good last time.
Hal: Yes, with extra chips because we never have enough.
Olivia: Deal. [she leans back] So what were you guys doing in Beacon Hills? Visiting Jody?
Sam: Yeah. Claire called needing help so we drove up since we were going to be here anyway to get you.
Olivia: Anything fun?
Sam: No. [because he doesn't know if Hal knows about the supernatural] Just had a few real meals, checked on your cousin as well...
Olivia: Lindsay hasn't murdered him yet?
Sam: No. In fact, he's trying to figure out how to get a job working with the Sheriff's department that won't raise flags. [due to two Ben Braeden's in one world]
Olivia: I'm sure if anyone could figure it out, it'd be Jody. [there's a beat] Hey, doesn't Bela have a false ID guy?
Sam: I think she has a guy for everything.
Olivia: So maybe she can get him like ... an actual identity. One different from other Ben.
Hal: Other Ben? [is confused]
Olivia: [glances over and drops her voice] Ben actually already exists in this universe as a sixteen year kid in Indiana.
Hal: .... Seriously?
Olivia: Yeah. Mike and I are fortunate enough to not exist, but if he tried to use his old info from before the world went boom people would ask a lot of questions.
Hal: Well that's gotta suck.
Sam: So you... told him?
Olivia: [glances back to him and nods] Yeah. Being vague about it kind of got ... complicated.
Hal: Plus it's kinda awesome to know she's out there kicking monster butt to keep people like me safe.
Dean: Mmm-hmm. [eyeing him carefully] You're taking it surprisingly well for someone who grew up normal.
Hal: She told me a while ago. I've had time to adjust.
Sam: [just nods because yeah, words are one thing]
Olivia: Maria took him on patrol with her and killed a vampire in front of him. [so she knows it's more than just words]
Hal: Yeah, a lot dustier than I thought it was going to be.
Dean: Uh-huh. [not impressed]
Hal: Trust me, not looking to go make a living at this. You guys can keep it.
Dean: Still, she should make sure you learn. Just because you don't want to hunt doesn't mean you'll be able to stay out of it completely.
Olivia: I know. We're taking it one thing at a time.
Hal: Yeah, my folks aren't going to be fond of knowing I'm learning to shoot a gun.
Dean: Yeah, well, that gun'll save your life one day. I think they'll be grateful then.
Hal: My dad's a history professor. He'll give me the long lecture on why guns don't solve conflicts.
Dean: People who say that? Don't usually have our kind of conflicts.
Hal: Which he is.
Dean: Exactly. When something is trying to eat you? You shoot it and you don't hold back.
Hal: I'll remember that
Dean: Good.
Olivia: Anyway. Are we heading back to Beacon Hills after this?
Sam: Yes. We can't leave your brother unsupervised for too long.
Olivia: Makes sense.
Hal: Is it dangerous to leave him alone?
Sam: He will forget to eat and we will find him buried under a pile of books.
Olivia: My brother is a giant nerd.
Hal: Ah, gotcha.
Olivia: We love him dearly, but you didn't even leave Bela with him to make sure he didn't get lost in the stacks?
Sam: Of course I left Bela. But Michael is too much like me.
Olivia: At least she won't let him starve.
Sam: True.
Olivia: So now we only have to worry about the book avalanche.
Sam: He's cleaning it up if there is one.
Olivia: Only if it doesn't kill him.
Hal: If a stack of books takes him out, that would probably be a bad way for a hunter to go.
Olivia: They aren't all ordinary books.
Hal: Will one eat him?
Olivia: Anything is possible.
Hal: ..... Awesome.
Olivia: Yep.
Sam: [and look, their food is here. And Sam is just going to look at Dean and smirk a bit. Daddy approves of this boy]
Hal: So, Lacrosse is going to start up in February. Think I can convince you guys to drive Olivia up for a few games during the spring? I'd like her to see me play, if that's ok. [because he has talked with her about it while out in Boston]
Olivia: I could hitch a ride with Cora and Stiles. Or get Ben to drive me.
Dean: Stiles isn't drivin' you in that deathtrap until I finish fixing it.
Hal: Cora mentioned that Stiles would be trying out so she may already be up there for that.
Dean: [he nods] We'll see after I fix the Jeep.
Sam: That's right, you promised to do that. I guess we're heading back for a bit to Beacon Hills...
Olivia: Plus they might need help for whatever mess they've got going on.
Sam: Guess I'll text Bela to keep Michael from making a book igloo.
Olivia: I'm sure he'll be fine.
Sam: When do classes start for you, Hal?
Hal: I got another week, but I was going to just crash at a hotel near campus.
Olivia: They won't let you back into your dorm before that?
Hal: Not until the RA's get there.
Olivia: I'd say you could stay in Beacon Hills but I don't know if it's safe right now.
Sam: Stiles has managed to stay alive this long, pretty sure Hal could manage it. Give him a taste of your world?
Olivia: [she looks hesitant, but it's more out of wanting to keep him safe than anything else] Are you sure?
Sam: That's up to you two.
Hal: [looks at Olivia] How bad would it be?
Dean: The Beast has killed what? Thirty people already? And they still have no idea who it is. [he is not joining Sam on the optimist train on this one. Stiles is one thing but he's also been living in it for a while. Hal is still brand new] But you'd basically be surrounded by hunters the entire time.
Hal: I'd be up for it just to spend more time with you. But if you think it's a bad idea I'll just go up to school.
Olivia: [shifts awkwardly for a moment, before shrugging] I'll think about it.
Sam: Guess we'll come back to that after we eat.
Olivia: [nods and will start to dig into her food]
Hal: [om nom nom]
Olivia: [they will have this conversation when her dad and uncle aren't around because she wants to make sure he knows what he's getting into]
Hal: [hey, there was a vampire killed in front of him. totally knows what he's getting into >.>]
Olivia: [vampires are one thing. none of them know what the f is going on in Beacon Hills]
Sam: [they already took care of the vampires anyway]
Hal: [nope. he is in for an INTENSE time]
Olivia: [yep, but once they're finished eating and paid the bill she will take him outside and talk to him by the car] Do you want to go to Beacon Hills?
Hal: If I get to spend more time with you...
Olivia: You might not. I mean, I don't really know what's going on anymore, but they may need me out hunting this thing.
Hal: Would you rather I go back to campus?
Olivia: I don't know. I mean, you're going to have to see more of my world eventually.
Hal: Liv, if you're worried about me, I get it. Don't worry.
Olivia: I know. But I want to spend more time with you too.
Hal: It's your choice, Liv. I don't want to distract you or worry you if my being there would do that, but I always want to spend time with you.
Olivia: [sighs, covering her face in her hands] I don't know.
Hal: Then let’s just go in the side of caution and I'll go to campus, and if Cora heads back to town for a weekend and you're still around, I'll hitch a ride.
Olivia: [she smiles softly before nodding] Okay. Sounds good. And maybe I can catch a ride up with them when they come up for class.
Hal: Sounds like a plan.
Olivia: Good. [small smile] I'll miss you.
Hal: I'll miss you too. Just means we're going to have great reunion sex when we get back together.
Olivia: That sounds like a plan.
Hal: Think they will shoot me if I kiss you before you go?
Olivia: [shakes her head] I'd be mad if you didn't.
Hal: Well, your opinion is the only one I really care about. [pulls her close playfully, leaning his head down]
Olivia: [and she will grin as she leans in to kiss him, sliding her arms around his neck]
Hal: [kisses her back nice and good]
Dean: [and she will kiss him equally well until Dean and Sam reemerge and her uncle is making a face] Alright, enough of that.
Hal: [sighs and pulls back, pushing her hair back in place] So I'll see you soon.
Olivia: [she nods with a smile] Yeah. See you soon.
