peter & cora } { of family reunions and adopted packs
Peter: [walks into the police station, taking off his shades and going to find the person in charge.]
Desk Sergeant: Can I help you?
Peter: Good afternoon. I'm looking for a [looks at paper in his hand] Detective Flack?
Desk Sergeant: Is he expecting you?
Peter: Yes, I have an appointment with him regarding a murder case he is investigating.
Desk Sergeant: [sighs as she reaches for the phone] Name?
Peter: Peter Hale.
Desk Sergeant: [she nods as she lets the phone ring, watching the people as the pass behind him before she raises her hand and snaps her fingers, signaling to someone behind him] Flack!
Flack: [is passing through, cup of coffee in one hand and box of doughnuts in the other because Flack and food, before responding:] Yeah, Sarge?
Desk Sergeant: [nods to Peter] He's here to see you. Said he had an appointment.
Flack: [there's a beat and his eyes go to Peter with a frown. It takes a second before] Mr. Hale?
Peter: Yes. Thank you for meeting with me. Sorry if I'm interrupting your breakfast.
Flack: No, not at all. [he shifts his coffee on top of the box to shake Peter's hand] I should be apologizing, I just got off a late night call. We can take this to my desk, if you'll follow me?
Peter: Sure. Can I help carrying something? [smiles a bit, going to follow him]
Flack: Nah, I've got it. Can I get you a cup of coffee or something?
Peter: Seeing that my best friend is a sheriff, I have to ask if it's safe.
Flack: That is a fair question to ask, and I'm gonna have to go with only if absolutely necessary. However, these doughnuts are from a great place around the corner and perfectly okay to eat.
Peter: I'll stick with a bottle of water if you have it then.
Flack: Sure just give me a minute. Have a seat. [he'll gesture to the chair next to his desk as he puts his food down, before going and returning with the bottled water. Once he has a seat, he'll pick up the file he had set aside for the appointment] You're here about Laura Hale, correct?
Peter: Yes, my niece. [he sighs, going to sit down in the chair]
Flack: [he nods] We weren't aware that she had any other living family. The only point of contact was her brother, Derek and a local businessman in town, Victor Kirsanov.
Peter: Yes, well, there is a reason for that. Six years ago, there was a fire at our family home - arson. It was an attack on our family... and well I'm sure Laura and Derek fled and didn't realize that myself and their younger sister had also escaped. We haven't been able to find them until this came across Sheriff Stilinski's desk in Beacon Hills.
Flack: [he nods] Well, we informed the family shortly after her body was found, in person. Would you prefer a phone number or an address for your nephew?
Peter: An address, please. I think it would be best I do this in person, and not over the phone.
Flack: [nods before going into the file and writing down the address on a post-it note - definitely uptown and in the rich district of New York] You should be able to find him there.
Peter: [nods, taking it] Can I ask you any specifics about the case?
Flack: Well, the investigation is still open so I can't tell you too much, but I can give you some general information?
Peter: Just... was it quick? And any chance I should be worried about Derek or Laura's younger sister, Cora?
Flack: Well, it was very clearly murder. [he pauses for a moment, before closing the folder] She was found in Central Park early in the morning a few weeks ago. There were definite signs of a struggle, so I can't say for sure how quick it was.
Peter: [nods] Was Derek there?
Flack: Not according to the evidence.
Peter: Okay. Well, thank you for seeing me, Detective. Please keep me in the loop if you can on what happens.
Flack: Of course. I'm sorry I don't have more for you.
Peter: No, I understand. That's what investigations are for, after all. [moves to stand]
Flack: [stands as well] I'll walk you out.
Peter: No, I'll be fine. You leave those donuts unattended, they won't be here when you get back.
Flack: Oh, no. People around here know better than to touch my food.
Peter: You have them trained well then.
Flack: It has taken years of work, but they're all better for it.
Peter: I'm sure. [chuckles as he starts for the door]
Flack: [and Flack will walk him out and say goodbye before going back to his doughnuts]
Peter: [and he will hail himself a cab and head over to the address and go find his nephew]
Fiona: [and when he knocks on the door he will get greeted by this lovely face, who will look him up and down, before squinting slightly] Who are you?
Peter: Peter Hale. I've come to see my nephew, Derek. The detective down at the station said he was here.
Fiona: [eyes him again before tipping her head back over her shoulder] NIK!
Nik: [pokes his head out the door to his room and squints at Peter before moving out further and stretching up to his full height] Who are you?
Fiona: He says he's Peter Hale, Derek's uncle.
Nik: [and then there's a deep inhale as he looks him over picking through the parts of his scent that are similar to Derek and Laura's but saying nothing right off the bat]
Peter: [is not intimidated, sorry Nik. He just raised an eyebrow at the large man, then returned his gaze to the young woman] I can provide you my California Driver's License if you wish.
Fiona: [glances to Nik, before extending her hand out to him and gesturing for him to hand over the license]
Peter: [licks his lips and reaches slowly for his back pocket and pulls out the wallet. His address in Beacon Hills is obvious, as is the picture of him and Cora in the little photo holder opposite it]
Fiona: [she notices, and she waits for the license to be in her hand before she holds it up to examine it, trying to look for any flaws that would give it away as a fake.]
Nik: [steps forward to have a look himself, before squeezing Fiona's shoulder gently] You can wait in here. My brother isn't home, so he wouldn't like an unfamiliar wolf getting past the entryway. You understand.
Peter: That's fine. I don't want to intrude on your territory. I just want to make sure my nephew is okay.
Fiona: [nods and turns to head back to Derek's room, knocking on the door lightly] Derek?
Nik: [gestures for Peter to sit] Have a seat.
Peter: [and he will do so]
Derek: [ is just sitting on his bed, looking out the window blankly. Soundproof walls make it so he has no idea what's happening down the hall. he turns to look at the door, then sighs] I'm here.
Fiona: [pokes her head in and closes the door before going to sit next to him on the bed. She follows his eyes out the window before shifting to hold out the license to him] Someone's here to see you. He says he's your uncle.
Derek: [he blinks, and then gives her a confused look] My uncle's dead... [said softly as he looks down at the license, running his thumb over the picture]
Fiona: It's real. And his scent is close enough to yours and Laura's that Nik didn't call bullshit.
Derek: [he thinks for a moment, just looking at it] All this time... all this time he was alive...
Fiona: That's what it seems like. [a beat] There was a picture in his wallet, too. A girl who looks kind of like you and Laura but younger.
Derek: [his eyes widen] Cora?
Fiona: I guess? I didn't ask her name, I just saw it.
Derek: [he closes his eyes, trying not to let tears show] He can't see me like this.
Fiona: You want me to tell him to go? Because I'll totally tell him to go.
Derek: No, he came all this way... he's family. I just... [he looked at his stump] I couldn't save Laura.
Fiona: [she watches him for a moment before reaching up and brushing one hand against the side of his face gently] I don't think he'll blame you for that. I honestly think he'll just be happy to see you.
Derek: [leans into her hand] He doesn't know what I did, Fiona. [meaning Kate]
Fiona: Then maybe it's time to tell him. So that you have someone to forgive you.
Derek: [nods] Help me put on my hoodie at least?
Fiona: Sure. [and she'll reach for it and help him get it over his head and settle comfortably so that the arm isn't obvious]
Derek: [and once he's up and in the hoodie, he will leave with Fiona to head to where Peter is waiting]
Fiona: [and she will lead him back into the entranceway where Peter is waiting]
Peter: [and he has just been sitting there, behaving while Nik babysat him. But he will stand up the moment he catches Derek’s scent before he's even around the corner, looking up at him]
Derek: [and he's going to just... edge close to Fiona a moment, nervous]
Fiona: [reaches over and gives his hand a squeeze, before taking a step back and letting her hand rest against his side as she nudges him ahead of her gently]
Peter: [and he will nod, opening his hands and arms to show he was unarmed] You don't know how long we've been waiting to find you.
Derek: Maybe you shouldn't have taught us all how to hide so well then. [he will close the distance though, letting Peter hug him tightly as he gave his uncle a one armed hug]
Fiona: [and she will smile and go sit on the arm of the chair next to Nik.]
Peter: [and being ever observant, he will pull back after a moment] What happened to you?
Derek: Wolfsbane bullet. We couldn't cure it in time.
Fiona: He's healing okay, though.
Derek: The Kirsanovs took good care of us. If it wasn't for them, Laura and I wouldn't have lasted this long.
Peter: Then I owe them a debt I'll never be able to repay. [and he gently taps Derek's cheek]
Nik: You should stay for dinner. Leah makes a mean take out pizza from the place down the street.
Peter: Well luckily for her, take out pizzas are my favorite.
Derek: Is Cora with you?
Peter: No, she stayed behind with Melissa and Scott just in case this wasn't leading to a happy reunion.
Derek: Oh.
Peter: However, we're under orders to Skype tonight with her.
Fiona: You can use my laptop.
Peter: Thank you.
Derek: Who are Melissa and Scott then?
Peter: [smiles] My wife and step-son.
Derek: [grins] You're kidding me? Seriously?
Peter: What, I'm not allowed to settle down? I was already raising Cora, another kid isn't that hard.
Fiona: [and she will get up to go get her laptop from her room]
Peter & Derek: [will just keep talking, catching up on each other's lives]
Fiona: [and eventually she will return, with the computer] Here you go.
Peter: [and he will text Cora to get to a computer while the laptop is booting back up]
Cora: [and she will frown at her phone, before getting up from where she (and the boys?) are doing homework and go for her laptop]
Peter: [and he will start the Skype session, smiling at her over the screen] Hello, sweetheart.
Cora: [smiles as he comes onto the screen] Hey. How's New York?
Peter: Things are good. I found something for you. [and he is going to tilt the screen for her to see her brother]
Cora: [and she lights up pretty much instantly] Derek!
Derek: Hey, pup. Damn, you've grown up.
Cora: Where are you? Are you okay?
Derek: I'm in New York. I've been here since, well a few weeks after the fire.
Cora: Are you safe?
Derek: Yeah. We got taken in by another pack here a while ago. They've taken good care of us.
Cora: Good. That's good.
Derek: How about you? What's been going on with you?
Cora: [she shrugs] Not much. Mostly school and stuff. [and becoming an alpha and all the complications therein]
Derek: It true that Peter got married?
Cora: Yep. Her name is Melissa and she's probably better than he deserves. [teasing]
Peter: Hey, I can't help that she has impeccable taste.
Derek: [laughs] Or low standards.
Cora: Anyway, when are you coming home?
Derek: [he bites his lip, looking over at Nik and Fiona] Not sure about that yet, pup.
Cora: [it's hard not for her to look disappointed, with the entirety of her very small pack so far away, and not having had her brother for so long but she tries to at least not look upset] Okay. But soon?
Derek: Yeah, soon. Plus I'll get your number from Peter and text you mine.
Cora: Okay. Good. [there's a beat before] I need you here.
Derek: [leans in closer, looking at her] Cora, I'll be there. I just have a life here too. I need to figure it out, that's all.
Cora: No, I know, I just ... [and then she pauses, and in case Peter hasn't gotten to this part yet, she closes her eyes and when she opens them, they're alpha red] I need you.
Derek: Whoa. [and he looks back at Peter] You didn't tell me.
Peter: There wasn't time.
Derek: No... no it... [looks at Nik] It wasn't a wolf that killed Laura.
Nik: [his head tips because he was totally eavesdropping but...] But it looked like wolf.
Derek: A seventeen year old across the country doesn't spontaneously become an alpha. If it was a wolf, they would have stolen the power.
Nik: ... Damn.
Peter: I'm sorry, I feel like I'm a few chapters behind in this story.
Nik: With how rough the kill was and when Derek didn't get his sister's power, we thought it was another wolf.
Peter: Derek didn't get her power because it goes to the women in the family first, regardless of birth order.
Nik: Yeah, doesn't work that way here. And to be frank, we thought you were dead.
Peter: I'm too stubborn to die.
Nik: Apparently.
Cora: Uncle Peter?
Peter: Yes, sweetheart?
Cora: What's going on?
Peter: It seems that it had been assumed a werewolf had killed Laura for her power, but it looks like it was something else.
Cora: [and worried face] That's not good.
Derek: Someone. Not thing.
Cora: Do the police have any leads?
Peter: Not that they were willing to share with me.
Cora: [sighs] Okay. I should get back to my homework. Just be safe, okay?
Peter: I will. Stay close to your friends until I get back.
Cora: I will. [And with that she'll end the call]
Leah: [and just as that happens there's the smell of pizza and another werewolf] Dinner's up. [shuts the door and stares down Peter] Hi there.
Peter: [shutting Fiona's laptop and gives her a smile in return] Hello. You must be Leah. I'm Peter.
Derek: My Uncle.
Leah: Right. Leah Kirsanov. I'm Victor's wife.
Fiona: [reaches up to take the pizzas] I got this. Beer, Peter?
Peter: Yes, please.
Derek: Something diet, for his delicate figure.
Peter: [glares at Derek]
Derek: [laughs] Yeah, that's the Peter I remember.
Fiona: We don't do diet beer. Sorry. [and with that she will disappear into the kitchen to set the table]
Leah: [clasps her hands together] So. Victor and Nadia should be up in a few minutes. I'm sure he's going to want to talk to you and she's going to want to eavesdrop.
Fiona: [from the dining room] He's married!
Leah: I don't think that's stopped Nadia from being Nadia before.
Peter: I'm not sure that's a statement or a warning.
Derek: It's both. [moves to stand up and stretch] I'm going to help Fiona.
Nik: [takes a deep breath] We love my sister, but she is incorrigible.
Fiona: [and is getting a pile of plates out of the cabinet and waits until he's in the room before nudging him sympathetically] You okay?
Derek: Far from it. I don't know what to do here.
Fiona: I'll make it easy. You should go be with your family.
Derek: [he looks up at her] But what about all of you?
Fiona: We'll be fine. And we'll miss you. But we're not your family and you've already missed six years with your sister. Do you want to miss more?
Derek: No, I don't. Especially after Laura... but if there's something here hunting wolves, I can't just leave you.
Fiona: We've survived here a long time, and we will be fine. And if we need help, we can call. It's not like the old days where it takes a year to travel across country.
Derek: [nods, his fingers tracing along the chair a bit] And you?
Fiona: What about me?
Derek: My leaving.
Fiona: [she glances back to him, watching him for a moment before looking away and shrugging as she sets the table] I'll miss you. But your sister is more important than me. And besides there's skype and facetime and ... yeah.
Derek: [and he will look down at his hand] Then I'll go home.
Fiona: Yeah. Good. [and she will not make eye contact as she finishes with the plates and retreats back to the fridge to get the beers]
Derek: [and he will go to take them from her, taking them back to Peter]
Nadia: [and she's having just come in, sweeping off her coat and glances to Peter with a wide smile] Hi there.
Leah: Married.
Nadia: I just said hello.
Peter: You must be Nadia. I'm Peter.
Nadia: A pleasure. Welcome to New York.
Victor: I am starving. Where's the pizza?
Derek: Fiona took it to the dining room. Figured we would eat less like a pack of wolves when we have company.
Peter: [moves to stand, feeling the alpha's presence and waiting politely to be introduced]
Victor: Excellent. [and he'll put down his stuff, kiss his wife, and then make his way closer, extending a hand] Victor Kirsanov.
Peter: [takes it, shaking] Peter Hale. Pleasure to make your acquaintance.
Victor: Likewise. Let's go eat.
Derek: [hands Peter his beer] Come on.
Fiona: [and out they go to have some dinner, and chat a bit]
Derek: [and he's characteristically quiet, letting Peter do most of the talking]
Fiona: [not exactly chatty either - chiming in with her usual sarcastic comment here and there, but mostly looking at the walls]
Peter: So, I guess I should ask how you all came to be the guardians of my niece and nephew.
Victor: Laura came to me when they first arrived in New York City to play nice, being the new alpha in town. Fi took to Derek and they basically became part of the pack over time.
Peter: Well, I am most grateful that they found friends and a pack to care for them here. We've been worried about them.
Victor: We were happy to have them. They were part of the family.
Nik: [finishes his beer and gathers his plate] I'm gonna get some air.
Derek: [looks over at Nik softly] Want me to join you?
Nik: [shakes his head] I'm good. I'll be back later.
Derek: [just watches him go, and then slumps back in his seat, rubbing at his face a moment in frustration]
Peter: [watches carefully, unsure what just happened]
Nadia: [to fill in the blanks] Nik and Laura were very close.
Derek: She was in love with him. I hadn't seen her that happy in a long time.
Peter: Oh. [sighs softly] My apologies.
Nadia: [she nods] He's dealing, in his own way. We all miss her.
Peter: Would one of you be willing to take me to her grave tomorrow so I can pay respects?
Victor: I'm sure. Or if you'd like to go with Derek.
Derek: I can take you.
Peter: Okay.
Leah: [she nods] You're also welcome to stay here, I don't know if you have other accommodations.
Peter: I do have other accommodations, but I wouldn't turn down the invitation. I just have a flight back to California on Sunday I need to keep.
Leah: No problem. We have a very comfortable guest room. [a beat as she glances between Derek and Fiona] Is Derek going with you?
Peter: That is up to him.
Derek: [nods] My sister needs me. She has the alpha power now.
Leah: [smiles softly] Then we'll miss you.
Derek: It's not like I can't come back and visit. [looks at Fiona]
Peter: [notices this and nods] I kept my apartment from after the fire when I got married and moved in with Melissa. I normally sublet it, but there is no one in it at the moment so if any of you wish to come visit, it would be a great guesthouse. I'm sure Derek will probably be more comfortable there anyway than in the house once he's readjusted to the town.
Leah: That sounds lovely. I know Nadia and Victor travel out west pretty often on the jet.
Peter: It's a three bedroom, so there is more than enough room.
Leah: Perfect.
Derek: I'm sure you don't need me around all the time anyway.
Peter: No, but your sister will, and she's the alpha now.
Fiona: I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't let you out of her sight for a while. [a beat] That's what I'd do.
Derek: I don't doubt it. She used to always follow me around when she was little. When I thought she was dead...
Fiona: But she's not. I'm sure she'll be very happy to see you.
Derek: I know she will. [and then she will worry about him, and won't let him out of her sight.]
Fiona: [she nods, before getting her plate together] I'm going to go check on Nik.
Peter: Can I help with the dishes at least?
Leah: It's not hard. We have a dishwasher.
Peter: It will save my hands from the soap then.
Leah: Good. Let me show you.
Peter: [and he will get up and go with Leah]
Derek: [and he will just look up at the ceiling, so conflicted]
Nadia: [sighs as she moves over to him] If you've got something to say to her, now's the time to say it.
Derek: How can I if I'm going across the country? I can't do that to her.
Nadia: You ever think about asking her to go with you?
Derek: [looks at Nadia] And take her away from her family?
Nadia: It's not as though we don't own a jet, Derek. And secondly, by giving her a choice it's not as though you're forcing her to do anything.
Derek: [shrugs] True.
Nadia: Talk to her. Might be the last time you get to see her face to face for a while - might as well get everything out.
Derek: [nods] I will. Tonight.
Nadia: Good. [and with that she will grab what's left of the pizza and go to put it away]
Derek: [and he will go to check on Fiona and Nik]
Nik: [will be coming down off the roof entrance with a now empty beer] She's still up there.
Derek: Thanks, man. You doing alright?
Nik: [he shrugs] I'll figure it out. Just gonna take time.
Derek: [and he puts his one hand on Nik's arm] Just don't go driving off on that bike and disappear.
Nik: [that ... sounds like an excellent idea right about now, but he won't. not until they find the hunters who did this to Laura] I won't.
Derek: Good. Because like it or not, you're a brother to me. I don't want to lose you.
Nik: That wouldn't happen.
Derek: Good. [looks up at the roof]
Nik: Go. [turns to walk away again] Night's not getting any younger.
Derek: [and he will go up and stand in the doorway watching her like he usually does]
Fiona: [and since she basically has flawless Derek radar at this point] It's rude to lurk, you know.
Derek: Bad habits die hard.
Fiona: So I see. [she glances over with a small smile] What are you doing up here?
Derek: I just... I wanted to be with you.
Fiona: [she swallows and nods] Guess we better make the most of it before you leave on Sunday.
Derek: You wouldn't want to come with me, would you?
Fiona: [she looks over at him in surprise, because that was not the question she was expecting] Do you want me to go with you?
Derek: [he nods] I do, but it's your choice.
Fiona: Why?
Derek: It's your life. I don't want to force you to leave your pack. [he walked closer, putting his hand on the railing] I just... it won't be the same not having you nearby.
Fiona: I'll miss you too. [a beat] But are you really going to want me in the way, when you're trying to learn how to be a family again?
Derek: You're not in the way. You're never in the way.
Fiona: I'm just saying, if you just need me to be your best friend, I can do that over skype. I will teach you how to use it, it's not that hard. [she doesn't say it to be condescending, she never does. She just probably won't leave her family if it's going to be the same as it's always been. If he wants her to go with him, she needs something more, something concrete - not just a faint hope]
Derek: [he looked out over the city a moment] You know I'm not good with talking about how I feel.
Fiona: I know. [there's a beat as she watches him] But I think this is one of those times where I need you to explain it to me.
Derek: [sighs] Every time I let myself go with my feelings, people get hurt. And I don't want you to get hurt because I care about you. More than just as my best friend.
Fiona: [she sighs, before running a hand through her hair] So you're just going to keep trying not to feel things forever? Because I don't think that's going to work out as well as you think.
Derek: I just don't want anyone else to die because of me.
Fiona: And how do you know, when we die, it's going to be because of you?
Derek: [and he will just look down] I don't.
Fiona: Exactly. [then she sighs, before taking a step closer] I care about you too. But I'm not the kind of person who goes in on things halfway. I'm all in. So if you want this, I need you to be all in too.
Derek: Can you be patient with me as I figure this all out again?
Fiona: Of course I can.
Derek: Then I want to. I want to be all in with you.
Fiona: Are you sure?
Derek: Yes.
Fiona: Okay. [a beat] I'll talk to my sister.
Derek: [and there is a small smile] Really?
Fiona: Yeah. If you really want me there, of course I'll go. It's not like I can't do my job on the road. And she might need a good emissary.
Derek: [and his grin grew a bit] Probably. I think she's up for any help she can get. You'll like her.
Fiona: I never doubted that. She's probably slightly more awesome than you. [teasing]
Derek: Yeah, the women in my family tend to have that charisma.
Fiona: I'm sure they do.
Derek: Hopefully she doesn't steal you away from me while I'm figuring all this out.
Fiona: I think you're probably safe there. It would be sort of illegal.
Derek: Good. Because I'd hate to be jealous of my sister.
Fiona: I don't think that would be an issue.
Derek: So, um... would you be okay if I kissed you?
Fiona: [she watches him for a moment before nodding] Yeah, I would.
Derek: [and he stepped a bit closer, reaching his hand up to run along her cheek a moment before leaning down to kiss her gently]
Fiona: [her hands move to steady his waist as she kisses him back, sinking into it for a moment and trying to enjoy it for as long as she can]
Derek: [and he takes his time before just leaning his forehead against her, his hand resting on the back of her neck, smiling at her]
Fiona: [she smiles back, thumbs brushing against his side gently] So are we okay?
Derek: We're more than okay.
Fiona: [nods with a sigh] Good.
Derek: I'm pretty sure when we go back down there, I'm going to get a lot of ribbing for taking so long.
Fiona: [she laughs] I'm sure you'll be fine.
Derek: I'm already starting to feel better.
Fiona: Good. You should. Today was a good day.
Derek: I just wish Laura was here to see it.
Fiona: I know. I wish she was too.
Derek: She'd be happy for us. She'd also do the most ribbing of the pack.
Fiona: [she laughs] She probably would.
Derek: Maybe we can convince Nik to come with us. Get him some time away from here?
Fiona: If it really was hunters with Laura, he won't leave until that's taken care of. But maybe after it's done.
Derek: If it's the Argents, they're after me.
Fiona: But we don't know that yet.
Derek: No, but it makes the most sense if it's not a wolf.
Fiona: There are a lot of different hunters out there.
Derek: I know.
Fiona: Laura might have just been in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Derek: My sister is never in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Fiona: Are you sure about that?
Derek: Yes.
Fiona: Then I guess we'll have to see what happens.
Derek: I guess so.
Fiona: [sighs] Anyway, we should get back downstairs.
Derek: Yes, deal with the peanut gallery that awaits.
Fiona: [she pulls back a bit and gestures for him to head down ahead of her] You know, we don't actually have to tell them anything.
Derek: Your in-laws and sister tend to be a bit more observant than you give them credit for. [starts to go down, taking his time with only one hand to balance him]
Fiona: [she rolls her eyes as she follows him] That still doesn't mean we have to tell them anything.
Derek: I'm not planning on it.
Fiona: Good.
Derek: We can work on it more in California?
Fiona: I think that sounds like a great idea.
Derek: Good.
Fiona: [and with that they head downstairs and take all the ribbing they have earned]
Peter: [and he will just sit back and observe Derek in his adoptive pack]
Fiona: [and she will pull Leah off to the side to discuss her going with Derek]
Derek: [and he will talk to Peter about Fiona coming, which he is fine with since there will be room in the apartment for her to have her own space]
Fiona: [and on Sunday they will head back to California unless there's something else you wanted to play out in New York?]
Derek: [not unless Nik wanted time with Derek]
Nik: [eh, he's kind of in a weird place, I don't think it would have been much more than companionable silence. Unless Derek prompts him to talk]
Derek: [he would come and see him Saturday night with beers and just sit in silence with him. Because Nik is a brother to him and he doesn't want to leave him more alone than he already feels]
Nik: [which Nik would appreciate but he'll be okay. probably. he hopes]
Derek: Will you at least think about coming to California for a while? I still need more retraining.
Nik: Maybe. But I gotta see how things settle here first.
Derek: Just be careful. She wouldn't want you getting yourself killed over her.
Nik: I'm not planning on it.
Derek: Good.
Nik: It's good that you're going to help your sister, man. That's what she would have wanted too.
Derek: They have a good life there now, Nik. If whoever killed Laura is going to follow me there, I could ruin it all.
Nik: Even if you don't go, you've already managed to draw Peter out of hiding. They could still follow him back and then it'd be two wolves against whatever hunter bullshit there is instead of three.
Derek: All the more reason I need to keep training.
Nik: Fiona'll keep your ass in line until I get there. I just can't follow you on the off chance they might too. If they took out Laura to get to my brother, I need to be here. The Hales aren't the only ones with enemies.
Derek: [nods] Yeah, I see your point.
Nik: We'll figure it out. And they'll pay for what they did.
Derek: Just make sure you leave something for me.
Nik: Will do.
Derek: [and back to silence]
Nik: [yep. as is their sullen broody way]
