peter & cora } { of coming home and lost time

Derek: [and down he goes, and luckily he saw her so he knows it's not an attack and he will wrap his one arm around her, hugging her tightly]

Cora: [buries her face in his shoulder and just stays close] Sorry. [except she's totally not sorry]

Derek: Me too. [and he will just snuggle her tightly]

Scott: [coming out of the house to meet Peter] So that's Derek?

Peter: Yes. Do me a favor, son, and take his bags inside? Cora's going to be a handful.

Cora: Shut up. [there's no real force behind it though]

Fiona: [glances around and looks at the house] Nice place.

Scott: Yeah, it's my mom's. Well, all of ours now. Hi, I'm Scott.

Fiona: Fiona. I'm a friend of Derek's from New York.

Scott: Well, welcome to Beacon Hills. Are you or Derek staying in the guest room?

Peter: She is. Derek can sleep on the couch if Cora lets him go anytime in the next week.

Fiona: I can also grab a hotel if there's not enough room. No big deal.

Peter: No, it's fine. Tomorrow I'll take you over to the apartment downtown.

Fiona: Okay.

Derek: Cora, the ground is hard and I think there is a rock under my shoulder.

Cora: [sighs as she gets back up to her feet and reaches down to help him up, for the first time noticing his lack of an arm] What happened?

Derek: Hunters.

Cora: [her lips pressed into a thin line, and she shakes her head] I'm sorry.

Derek: Hey, it's fine. Could have been worse. [and he work to find balance to stand up with her help]

Cora: [she nods and with that they will all head into the house]

Peter: [and he will go help settle them in, checking to see if Melissa is home from work yet]

Melissa: [she's not, but there's a note that says she might be working late and to order pizza]

Peter: I swear, I should just invest in a pizzeria in town from the amount we go through.

Scott: Don't forget my pineapple!

Cora: [wrinkles her nose] Only half pineapple.

Peter: I'm going to order more than one. [looks at Derek] Probably three. Minimum.

Cora: That's good at least.

Derek: [looks around] Very domestic.

Peter: Behave.

Cora: So you need to tell me everything about New York.

Derek: Well, it's big. It was a good place to hide with the number of people there.

Cora: Obviously.

Derek: But it was interesting. Things were always open at night. You could do anything, be anyone and no one would stop you.

Cora: Did you guys have friends there?

Derek: Yeah. We became friends with the Kirsanov pack, and I had a job for a while as a bouncer at a club and had friends there.

Cora: Good. I'm glad.

Derek: How about you?

Cora: Good. I had Scott and Stiles after the fire, and we're still really close.

Derek: What's a Stiles?

Cora: [sighs] Stiles is my best friend.

Scott: Our best friend. Technically he was mine first.

Cora: [gives Scott a look at that] Technically, the three of us were all best friends.

Scott: [smirks] Uh huh.

Derek: [chuckles] So I take it I'll end up meeting him soon. [and there is a thud from Scott's room]

Cora: [laughs as she points up to the ceiling] That would be Stiles.

Peter: Four pizzas. [and he will chuckle and go off to drop his bags off in the master and order the food]

Derek: He doesn't know how to use a door?

Cora: He does, but he claims that if he did, we wouldn't open it.

Stiles: [from upstairs] Is it safe?

Cora: Get down here, Stiles.

Stiles: [and he will come down the stairs, tripping on the last one but managing to regain his balance. and then he looked up at the huge one armed man] Whoa. You didn't say he was huge.

Derek: [just raises an eyebrow]

Cora: Stiles, this is my brother Derek. Derek, this is Stiles.

Stiles: Hiya, big guy. Didn't know you were all Winter Solider.

Scott: Dude. [punches him]

Cora: [just rubs her forehead]

Derek: Yeah, you should be careful then. You never know what Hydra has put into my head. [smirks]

Stiles: [mouth open, then grins] I like your brother, Cora.

Cora: Good. Cuz he's going to be sticking around for a while.

Stiles: [looks at Fiona] So I take it you're his wolfy bride?

Fiona: [squints at him] No. I'm his best friend. Fiona.

Stiles: Ooooh, okay. [nods]

Scott: [hits Stiles again] Dude.

Fiona: So where is that pizza?

Peter: It will be here in fifteen.

Scott: I can show you where your room is?

Fiona: That would be great.

Scott: [he waved his hand, grabbing Derek's bag again and taking them upstairs to the guest room. Which is technically his room, but cleaned up for the moment while he's bunking with Cora for a few days]

Fiona: So. Your friend's a little intense.

Scott: Yeah, he is. Has way too active of an imagination.

Fiona: What's his deal?

Scott: That's a long story. He's been like that since his mom got sick when he was six.

Fiona: Ah. Never mind then.

Scott: Yeah. You'll get used to it. Or just punch him. He learns quick.

Fiona: Punching. That I can do.

Scott: Just don't hurt him too much. He's human and his dad is the sheriff.

Fiona: I'm human too. But I won't get myself arrested.

Scott: Really? I mean, cool.

Fiona: [smirks] Not everyone they know is a werewolf.

Scott: I know I just... yeah, I'll shut up now.

Fiona: [she shakes her head] It's fine. You can't tell with your nose.

Scott: Is he... is he going to be alright with his arm like that? Cora's been really missing him.

Fiona: Yeah, he'll be fine. He's been healing really well.

Scott: Was it the same people who killed his sister?

Fiona: We don't know, but maybe.

Scott: Well, Cora needs him, so I'm glad he's still here to be there for her.

Fiona: So am I. He's needed her too.

Scott: Hopefully this will be good then.

Fiona: Yep. [there's a beat] So has she started building a pack yet?

Scott: Well, she has us. Me, her uncle... my mom, Stiles... and now her brother and I guess you.

Fiona: [she presses her lips together] Yeah, but I'm a temporary loan.

Scott: Well, at least long enough to help her figure it all out.

Fiona: Yeah. That's what I'm here for.

Scott: Cool. Well, we should get back downstairs. If you're starving, we have snacks.

Fiona: That sounds awesome. [and she will drop her stuff and head downstairs]

Peter: [and he's setting up the dining room table with plates and making Stiles help him. Which lets Cora and Derek sit on the couch, where he's describing the New York topography]

Cora: [and she's listening, curled into his shoulder as she hears about his life] That sounds really great.

Derek: It was okay. I mean, I'd much rather have been here. But we never knew.

Cora: We were trying to find you, but we never seemed to catch a break.

Derek: We didn't know you were alive. Laura got the reports about the fire and it was one survivor, not expected to make it through the night. Laura was in pain from taking over the alpha power, and I was too scared, so we fled. We thought it was best.

Cora: No, that made sense. I found Peter in the hospital, and was hiding there, and the sheriff and Melissa helped keep us together.

Derek: That's how he met Melissa, huh?

Cora: Yep. She was his nurse in the ICU.

Derek: So it was a Florence Nightingale angel?

Cora: [she wrinkles her nose] They didn't get together until after he was better.

Derek: Ah. So has it... evened him out at all?

Cora: In a way. [there's a pause as she plays with his hand] There's something else I have to tell you.

Derek: What's that?

Cora: [she tips her head back] So ... when we were in the hospital, they ran some tests and they found out ... biologically speaking, I'm not actually your sister.

Derek: Well, you are my sister, but you were adopted. We just weren't supposed to tell you.

Cora: [sits up a bit more] Then why didn't Peter know?

Derek: [confused] Peter didn't know?

Cora: No. And he's my dad.

Derek: .... Whoa.

Cora: Do you know anything about my mom?

Derek: No. Mom always said that you were abandoned by someone who knew you'd have werewolf genes and wanted to make sure she had a family and a pack in case you took after the wolf more than the human.

Cora: [she huffs] Well, she lied.

Derek: No, not about everything. You're still my sister, and you're always going to be.

Cora: [exhales slowly] It's just ... really frustrating to have all these questions and no way to answer them.

Derek: We could always go into the vault and see if there's anything down there.

Cora: I think Peter's already looked. We found out a few years ago.

Derek: I'm sorry. [snuggles her] But you have your family, and we love you. That's good for now, right?

Cora: Yeah, it is. It's more than enough. [and she curls back into him again] I'm so glad you're here.

Derek: I'm glad to be here for you.

Cora: [she nods as she looks down again] Laura ... did she have any betas?

Derek: Just me. We were guests of the Kirsanov pack so we didn't try to make a power move there. We just wanted to survive.

Cora: [pauses before nodding once] Do you think I should?

Derek: That's up to you. Do you want to?

Cora: [she glances up towards the sound of her stepbrother's voice] Sometimes I think about it. When Scott's asthma gets really bad.

Derek: Well, just remember, it's always their choice. It's a gift you can give them, but you can't force them into it.

Cora: I know. And I worry about it not working.

Derek: [nods] It's not pretty when it fails. It hurts, and at that point the only thing you can do is spare them the slow death. [and he's gone dour at that]

Cora: I know. I don't want to put him in that position.

Derek: Just remember if you do it, you're responsible for him too - training, teaching, and if he can't handle it.

Cora: I know. I know.

Derek: [looks down at her] How bad is he?

Cora: Most of the time he's fine. But some days ... he can't even go outside.

Derek: [sighs] Let's just take some time to settle before you start building up a pack. Just in case.

Cora: [she nods in agreement] Okay.

Peter: [and the smell of pizza will hit the wolves before the doorbell is rung]

Cora: [she sighs before pulling up off the couch] I got it.

Stiles: I can help! [running out of the kitchen to the door with her]

Cora: [glances over to him as she grabs the pizza money off the table] I can handle it.

Stiles: [stops and holds up his hands] Alright. Just offering.

Cora: I didn't ... mean it like that.

Stiles: I know. I just... never mind. The table's ready. I'll go get Scott. [and he will go up the stairs]

Cora: [sighs as she pays for the pizza and heads back to the table]

Derek: [and he will get up and follow her, and Stiles and Scott will join them with Fiona in tow and they can start eating]

Cora: [yay pizza! And probably more dumb stories between the lot of them]

Stiles: [including soccer stories about the duo]

Cora: [there are lots of those]

Stiles: [Soccer is life for them]

Cora: [yep. that it is]

Derek: [and he's watching them and listening, and seeing the camaraderie there, as well as the little looks Stiles gives her when no one is looking]

Cora: [and she still doesn't notice, too much going on in her life to really even acknowledge it]

Stiles: [and he's given up a long time ago, chasing after a redhead he also will never get]

Cora: [still at least someone is looking at her. No one else really is that she's aware of]

Scott: [Well, she's his sister now. kinda weird if he did]

Cora: [that is very true]

Stiles: [and once he's done] Well, I should get home before my Dad. I guess I'll see you guys later?

Cora: [glances up with a smile] Yeah, see you.

Scott: Later.

Stiles: [and he will head out, closing the back door behind him]

Derek: He seems nice.

Cora: He is. He's the best.
