Gavin: Mommy, Mommy! [waving a little flag he got from a street vendor] We went up HIGH!
Nadia: Did you? [smiles as she sees them approach] What did you see?
Peter: Went spent most of the day along the waterfront, and after lunch we got on the Ferris wheel and only now just got off.
Gavin: We could see clouds. And birds. And buildings. And boats.
Nadia: You will have to tell me all about it when we get back home.
Gavin: Daddy, can we take Mommy? Go again?
Peter: I don't know if Mommy wants to go on the Ferris wheel tonight, son.
Gavin: [puppy eyes at Nadia] PLEASE?
Nadia: [she smiles softly] Not tonight. Maybe this weekend?
Gavin: Is that tomorrow?
Peter: No, three days.
Nadia: Right now, I want to go and get some dinner so you can tell me all about your adventures.
Gavin: Pizza!
Peter: [laughs, putting Gavin down] We'll think about it.
Nadia: I don't know - pizza isn't such a bad idea.
Peter: Well, if that is what you both want, I will concede.
Nadia: I know just the place.
Peter: Then let's go. [but not before he leans in to kiss her because it's been all day]
Nadia: [kisses him back with a small smile, and off they go! to pick up pizza and take it back to the flat they're staying in]
Peter: [and he will cut up Gavin's slice into bitesize pieces before sitting down] So how is the exhibit going?
Nadia: Well. I think it will be opening quite nicely.
Peter: That's good.
Gavin: I can make art, Mommy. For the party.
Nadia: Oh really? What kind of art do you want to make?
Gavin: Birds!
Nadia: You know, I'm sure Aunt Talia would love some bird art for her refrigerator.
Gavin: But party!
Nadia: Unfortunately for the party, the art is supposed to be by one specific person.
Gavin: [wibbles] People like birds.
Peter: And Aunt Talia would love your birds.
Nadia: And I would love your birds too. But I'm afraid my artist isn't very good at sharing.
Gavin: Oh kay.
Nadia: I think you should draw it for me anyway.
Gavin: Will you help me?
Nadia: Always.
Gavin: [and he will perk up at that, getting back to eating]
Peter: I have a feeling he's going to be a big artist when he's older.
Nadia: Nothing wrong with that.
Peter: I think it'll be nice. You both can work together.
Nadia: Yes, it will.
Peter: We will never lack for artwork.
Nadia: Not that we did before. It will just cost far less.
Peter: And we can gloat a lot more.
Nadia: Precisely.
Gavin: More! [his plate is empty]
Nadia: Alright, alright. [and she'll go to cut up a second piece for him]
Peter: [chuckles and works on eating his slice]
Nadia: [finishes doing that and goes back to her own]
Gavin: [and he will eat some of it, and then start playing with the rest]
Peter: So what shall we do tonight?
Nadia: Don't play with your food, Gavin. [glances up to him] A movie, maybe?
Gavin: Not playing. Art.
Peter: A movie sounds good.
Nadia: Don't make art with your food. [to Peter] Maybe something light?
Gavin: [sighs and puts his hands on his pants.]
Peter: Family friendly?
Nadia: [sighs and reaches for a napkin to clean off his hands] Probably for the best.
Peter: We will avoid the one with the blue one in it, otherwise it will be on repeat again.
Nadia: Probably for the best.
Peter: Dalmatians?
Nadia: Sounds good.
Gavin: Pongo?
Nadia: Only if you finish your pizza.
Gavin: [and he will go back to eating]
Peter: [sips his wine and smiles] Would you like some more?
Nadia: Please.
Peter: [and he will pour Nadia more wine] Gavin?
Gavin: Yes please.
Peter: [And more grape juice for Gavin]
Nadia: [and she reaches for her glass with a sigh] And maybe something a little more adult after he goes to sleep.
Peter: I will try not to let us fall asleep then.
Nadia: Good man.
Gavin: [and he will finish his pizza] All done!
Nadia: Good job. Let's get you cleaned up and ready for bed.
Gavin: But Pongo?
Nadia: After you're ready for bed.
Gavin: Oh kay. [and he will go with her to get ready for bed while Peter puts away the food and cleans the kitchen]
Nadia: [and the will wind up curled up on the couch with Netflix and Gavin squeezed between them]
Peter: [and he will watch Gavin curled up into his mother, holding his favorite stuffed bird and snuggling as he drifts off]
Nadia: [and she'll glance down every so often and once he is asleep for good, she will gently scoop him up to go put him into bed]
Peter: [and when she is back, he will pull Nadia into her arms] Hello, love.
Nadia: [smiles softly] Hello yourself.
Peter: You looking for a massage?
Nadia: [she shakes her head] I'm good here.
Peter: [leans over to kiss her neck] As am I. I miss you.
Nadia: I miss you too.
Peter: I think I need to steal your calendar and schedule you some mates only time.
Nadia: Oooh. That would be fun. But what would we do with the tiny one.
Peter: I'm sure we can find a nanny to watch him for the evening.
Nadia: Mmmm. That would be lovely.
Peter: A nice dinner that isn't child friendly.
Nadia: Plus possibly more adult activities.
Peter: Oh, I was hoping for that tonight.
Nadia: Mmmm. Well, it's not out of the running yet.
Peter: [and he will kiss along her neck, his fingers gently playing along her hips] Have I told you how beautiful you look when you're in the gallery ordering people around?
Nadia: [she laughs] I'm sure you don't feel the same when that's turned on you.
Peter: No, though you have this fierce beauty when you are angry.
Nadia: Fierce beauty, mmm?
Peter: Oh yes.
