canon au } { post-5b, of birthdays and no pants parties

Olivia: [she swung by to spend some time with her boyfriend and just get away from her family for a bit. So after they do their usual reunion ritual, she's stretched out in bed next to him on her stomach, and randomly:] What do you think about April for my birthday?

Hal: [thinks a moment] April sounds like a good month.

Olivia: Good. Now I just have to pick a day.

Hal: Yes, just not the first. April Fools day is not a good birthday.

Olivia: Any other days in April I should avoid?

Hal: Well, you can't really avoid Easter since it's a different day every year. Just the first.

Olivia: Okay. Does the day really matter, otherwise?

Hal: No, not really. It's just a day where we celebrate you.

Olivia: Lucky me.

Hal: [leans over to kiss her shoulder] I happen to enjoy celebrating you.

Olivia: [she laughs, before shifting to face him] When's your birthday?

Hal: May 16th.

Olivia: Do you like it?

Hal: Yeah. It's usually a good day. Not too hot, but good enough for a party.

Olivia: What if I don't have enough friends for a party?

Hal: You got your family.

Olivia: They're not really the party types.

Hal: We can have a party. A private, small party with you, me... no pants invited.

Olivia: [she laughs] That does sound like a good party.

Hal: I happen to throw great parties.

Olivia: I know. I've been to some of them.

Hal: Yes, but these kinds of party, I'm usually wearing the bow. [smirks]

Olivia: [she laughs] Oh really?

Hal: Uh huh.

Olivia: Well, then you better help me pick a day so you can prove it.

Hal: [thinks] Well, you got a lucky number?

Olivia: Not really?

Hal: Okay. Then um.... the fourth. That way it's 4/4.

Olivia: April Fourth. [she considers for a moment before nodding] I like it.

Hal: Then April fourth it is.

Olivia: [smiles as she leans in to kiss him] Thanks for helping me.

Hal: [kisses her back] You are more than welcome.

Olivia: [pulls back after a minute] I didn't come when you're really busy, did I?

Hal: Nah, I have a paper do, but I'll just be like every other college student and do it at 4am before it's due.

Olivia: That doesn't sound healthy.

Hal: Yeah, but I'd much rather have you. Otherwise I'd just procrastinate with video games.

Olivia: [she laughs] So you're saying I'm the better distraction?

Hal: Definitely.

Olivia: I can work with that.

Hal: [yawns and stretches] So, now that we have had a chance to catch up, what shall we do?

Olivia: [she shrugs] I could go for a food break.

Hal: Burgers?

Olivia: Perfect.

Hal: Of course, that does mean we need to put pants back on.

Olivia: That is true.

Hal: But protein.

Olivia: Technically only one of us has to wear pants if we bring them back here.

Hal: [laughs] But then we have to decide who goes.

Olivia: Rock, paper, scissors?

Hal: [smirks and goes to do so. he's totally a rock boy]

Olivia: [and Liv picks scissors, just like her uncle]

Hal: I guess you're going to have to get dressed. [threads fingers behind head, smirking]

Olivia: [she laughs, before swinging out of bed to grab her clothes] Text me what you want.

Hal: [grabs his phone and puts in his order for burgers and fries] I'll pick us out something on tv while you're out.

Olivia: Sounds good. [and now fully dressed, off she goes to retrieve their food]

Hal: [and he will quickly shower and be flipping through the channels when she returns]

Olivia: [and she will hand him the bag and go to kick out of her jeans] What'd you find?

Hal: Shooter.

Olivia: What's that?

Hal: [goes to set up food on table trays] Remember Mark Wahlberg? He's a sniper framed for trying to kill the president.

Olivia: Is it any good?

Hal: I like it, but you'll have to judge for yourself

Olivia: [nods as she goes to curl in next to him]

Hal: [and they will watch and eat while the movie plays]

Olivia: [yep, and she finds the movie kind of boring at times, but the action sequences are good]

Hal: [it's the action sequences they are watching it for]

Olivia: [clearly]

Hal: [and when it's over he will look down at her] So what did you think?

Olivia: [she shrugs] The action scenes were pretty good.

Hal: That's pretty much the stuff I like too.

Olivia: The story was kind of weird.

Hal: Which part?

Olivia: I just don't get why they blamed him in the first place.

Hal: Because with how he lived and his skills, they thought they could control him.

Olivia: That backfired.

Hal: Oh yeah.

Olivia: At least it ended well.

Hal: Yeah. So satisfied when they took out that asshat at the helicopter.

Olivia: Definitely.

Hal: So what now?

Olivia: [she shrugs] Well, do we want to stay in here all weekend or do you want go to a party or something? [she doesn't sound committed either way, but occasionally they should be normal college students]

Hal: There's a frat party over at the Sigmas. You want to go help me drink them under the table and win beerpong money?

Olivia: Sure. Sounds like fun.

Hal: Then let's go. [and he stood up, grabbing the trash around them]

Olivia: [and her pants will come back on again, and off they will go to a party to get good and drunk]
