canon au } { post-610: riders on the storm
Cora: [so Stiles gets attacked by the rider and Cora hears him and she and Lydia run for them and Cora gets some violence in until she gets knocked down hard and Lydia takes the rider out with a scream]
Stiles: [and he's half hidden behind a locker, holding his ears because damn Lydia.]
Cora: [and once the dust settles Cora will try and scramble to her feet but her healing from giving birth and now having to heal from this - her body doesn't like that too much. So she winces from the pain and just looks up and tries to scan the room] Stiles?
Stiles: [and he blinks rapidly as he hears his name and pushes himself back up] Cora?
Cora: [there's visible relief as he comes into view, and she's clearly looking at him like he's the best thing she's ever seen. she wants to get up and go to him but there's pain, nope, she's going to have to stay where she is] Hi.
Stiles: [and he's going to see her wince and look at her and] Oh my god what happened to the baby Cora are you okay you shouldn't be trying to kick Riders in the face even if it's hot and I missed seeing you be all kickass. [as he gets to her side to check her over]
Cora: [shakes her head and suddenly he's in touching distance, and her hand is falling to his shoulder] The baby's fine.
Lydia: She gave birth six hours ago. Which is why she was supposed to stay in the bunker.
Cora: Shut up, Lydia. [and her fingers will fist Stiles' shirt as she pulls him in to kiss her]
Stiles: Six - [no those are her lips on his and he's going to just melt into her, kissing her back deeply as he just pulls her into his arms and holds her tightly]
Cora: [yep, no, we can talk about the baby later, she just needs to kiss him for a good long time]
Stiles: [and he's just going to probably tear up a bit, one hand snaking around her neck and into her hair, keeping her close because his mind had gone down so many roads of losing her and it's not over yet and he knows it but she's here and she remembers him and loves him still]
Cora: [and eventually they'll both have to breathe, so she'll pull back after a moment and let her head rest against his shoulder. he's there and he's real and she missed him so much without even realizing it] Don't ever do that again.
Stiles: Never again. Not that I really wanted to be taken the first time.
Cora: I know. Still don't do it again.
Stiles: Yes ma'am. We shouldn't stay here though. We need to find Scott and divert the train.
Cora: [she nods and she sighs and tries to push herself to her feet] Help me up?
Stiles: Yeah. Come here. [and he will pull her up]
Cora: [and getting up is slow going, and she's going to lean on Stiles a bit as she gets to her feet]
Lydia: She's really in no shape for a fight. Especially against a Nazi lowenmensch rider.
Cora: [snarls a bit at her] I could take out that overgrown cat out with one arm tied behind my back. I'm fine.
Stiles: [looks between them] Six hours ago? I'm kinda wanting to side with Lydia on this, Cor.
Cora: [she looks up at him because no, not you too] I'm not leaving you again.
Stiles: I'm not leaving you either. But we can do something else. There's a waiting room full of people we need to wake up.
Cora: Where?
Lydia: Malia and Peter are in one of them. But they're kind of scattered all over Beacon Hills, and we never know when we're walking into one.
Stiles: Well, let's just start looking.
Cora: [nods and she'll let him lead her out of the locker room and into the hallway]
Stiles: [and then that's when evil!Claudia starts calling out to Stiles]
Cora: [and the girls will look at each other and Stiles, and Cora will pull him back] Stiles, she's not real.
Stiles: No, I know my mother's voice...
Cora: Stiles, your dad ... he created her to fill a void. She's not your mom.
Claudia: [but yeah, there's going to be all that stuff and Claudia throwing Cora across the hallway since she never really liked you anyway and then choking Stiles against the wall]
Cora: [and she is not all that steady on her feet so that is a definite cry of pain as she lands hard against the lockers and drops to the ground]
Lydia: [and she will start to get her hands up to try and scream]
Stiles: [trying to struggle]
Sheriff: Let go of my son. [and he's shooting]
Lydia: [And between the scream and the bullets they manage to send her away for good and Stiles drops to the ground]
Sheriff: [and he's going to rush to Cora as Stiles coughs and gets up to go with them too]
Cora: [yeah she's ... not trying to get up, but she'll give them a small weak smile in return] I'm okay.
Sheriff: Cora, sweetheart, you're a horrible liar. [and he's a dad and he's going to literally just pick her up in his arms to carry her] I found the others. We need to wake them up.
Cora: [really wants to fight him but she knows better so she won't, and possibly will even curl into him a little bit]
Sheriff: [and he will shift her to let her do that as he leads Stiles and Lydia back to the room where a bunch of the Beacon Hills people are.]
Lydia: [and she will split off to find her mom and some other people she knows]
Cora: [and she will see her sister and start to push back] Laura ...
Stiles: I don't see Peter.
Lydia: We found him already. He was stalling the riders so Malia could escape with us, and Malia went back for him.
Stiles: Oh, okay.
Sheriff: Here, but sit.
Stiles: No, no sitting. NO SITTING.
Cora: I'm okay. [and she'll convince the sheriff to put her on her feet, before she makes her way closer and places her hands over her sister's] Laura? Laura, can you hear me?
Laura: [it takes a minute, but eventually she starts to blink and her hands turn and curl around Cora's] Cora?
Cora: [she nods] Wake up. You need to wake up. [and then there's a beat as she says the only thing that she thinks can break through better than anything else] Dean has Amelia.
Laura: [yep, that does the trick. her eyes snap open and land on her sister with the scrutiny only a big sister can bring] You left my daughter with who?
Sheriff: Your brother and Dawn had a newborn to handle. She's safe, though she'll probably be a Cowboys fan now.
Laura: [she takes a deep breath, before shaking her head] Jordan has to deal with that. I don't do football. [and with that she snaps to her feet, and looks around] Where is he? Have you seen him?
Stiles: Not since I put him out with liquid nitrogen. He's back to being him again, by the way. You're welcome.
Laura: [exhales slowly before nodding] I should go find him. [looks back at her sister, and then her eyes go wide when she sees her, and ...] We're gonna talk later.
Cora: [nods and then lets her sister go to go find her hellhound]
Stiles: [and since Peter woke up Buffy and they took the slayers with them to go help Scott, who's left]
Cora: [scans the room and spots three familiar faces in the back row, since we need her to wake up Ben - Lindsay, Ben and Olivia.]
Sheriff: Let me get my deputy. [and he's going to gently hand over Cora to Stiles and go stand in front of Lindsay] Deputy, wake up. No sleeping on the job.
Lindsay: [she knows that voice, and she blinks for a moment, because seriously where is that coming from] What?
Sheriff: You don't wake up this instant, I'm docking your pay and putting you on hellhound babysitting duty again.
Lindsay: [there's a beat, and then a groan as she finally pushes through] How is that different from any other day? [there's a beat as her hands come up to rub at her eyes] Except for the pay docking. Don't do that part.
Sheriff: [and he will smile, putting his hand on her shoulder] I won't. You alright?
Lindsay: There's a Nazi I really want to punch in the face. [there's a beat] Where's - [and she turns to her left and yep, there's her boyfriend] - never mind.
Sheriff: Buffy took the rest of the slayers to help Scott take out the Nazi.
Lindsay: Yeah, I'll go meet her. Just give me a second. [and with that she will get up and stand in front of Ben, considering for a moment. she could say a lot of stuff, but she's ... not going to do that and just go whole hog because she really does not have time to figure out the right words. So she's just going to kiss him and wait for him to kiss her back]
Ben: [yeah that's going to take a moment because most of the senses aren't able to be manipulated]
Lindsay: [she could also punch him in the shoulder if that'll help?]
Ben: [no, give him a moment as he hears her heartbeat, her soft panting against his lips... and he's going to just respond and start to kiss her back]
Lindsay: [good boy. and she'll hold the kiss for a moment, before pulling back and giving him a smile] Hi.
Ben: [and he will open those blue eyes and smile back at her] Good morning to you too.
Lindsay: I have to go kill a Nazi. Wake up your cousin and say with the sheriff and I'll meet up with you when this is over, okay?
Ben: Yeah you go do that. [and he will give her another quick kiss goodbye and then turn to Liv] Liv, wake up. Time to go find your dumbass brother
Olivia: [Lindsay gives the sheriff's shoulder a gentle squeeze before turning and making a break for the fight at hand. Olivia, on the other hand, is pretty rooted in the spell so it's going to take her a minute to come back, still staring straight ahead past Ben's shoulder]
Ben: [thinks for a moment, and then grins and leans in] And I think Dean has been answering your phone when Hal has been calling you...
Olivia: [and that has her brow furrowing, because what ...]
Ben: [and whispers into her ear] And Michael's been reading your diary again.
Olivia: [yep, that'll do it] I don't have a fucking diary.
Ben: [laughs] Yeah, journal I know.
Olivia: [squints as she looks around] What happened?
Ben: We got sat down.
Olivia: [glances over to the bench and immediately shoots off it like she's been burned] Shit.
Ben: Yeah. But the rift is falling down.
Olivia: So what do we do?
Stiles: [and at that moment, Scott howls to let Liam and Mason know the battle is over] I think we hold on and see what this next piece is going to do.
Cora: [and suddenly the world will get hazy and they're back in Stiles' room, almost as though they never left. She glances around, blinking for a moment, before looking back to Stiles] I guess it's over?
Stiles: I think so. [and he is going to look around for his phone but it's gone] Hold on a sec. [goes to his doorway] Dad?!
Cora: [listens for a moment for the sound of someone moving] He's not here. Try the station.
Stiles: Do you have your phone? I don't know where mine is [pats down his pockets]
Cora: [does the same for a moment, before finding hers and extending it out to him]
Stiles: [and he goes to call the station and Parrish answers. He confirms that the Sheriff is there and they are ok but busy and will tell him he called] Okay, he's there.
Cora: Good. That's good. [and now that things are over and calm ... this is where things get awkward and she doesn't know how much Stiles knows or wants her to say]
Stiles: [and so he holds the phone back out to her] You want to call your brother?
Cora: [she shakes her head but she takes the phone to text him instead] He's probably still in the hospital. I'll text him. [which mostly consists of: "it's over and I’m fine. found Stiles."]
Stiles: [nods] Yeah, okay. You should probably lay down and rest. Do you want me to get you something?
Cora: Actually I kind of want a shower. [which is not conducive to resting but she needs it] Do you have something I could wear?
Stiles: Um, I think so. Shower is probably a good idea anyway. Want to share? [playful smile. It's only been a few days for him feeling like he was gone]
Cora: [and she falters for a moment, because she just had a baby and honestly isn't really sure where she stands with him so she blurts out the first relevant thing that comes to mind] Six weeks.
Stiles: Six weeks?
Cora: Because I just ... [you know, gave birth] ... I can't do ... that stuff for six weeks. [she looks down at her hands] You were gone for three months, Stiles. I know ... I know it wasn't that long for you but can we just ... take it slow? Please?
Stiles: [nods] Sure. [he hasn't had time to get back to the anger he had from when he learned about how Cora was reacting to his being gone... only to have it come back. He goes to pull out a pair of his pajamas and hands them to her] Here you go.
Cora: [and she feels that and on comes the guilt, but she squares her jaw and just takes the pajamas from him. She needs to clean up and wash away the awful that was this day before she can try and get him to understand how awful the last few months were. she takes a deep breath and nods as she moves past him to the shower, where she's probably going to cry. again. hormones are assholes.]
Stiles: [and when she's gone he's going to just take a deep breath and then grab something to change into himself and go to his father's room and he's going to just stop in his tracks because things are different. His mother's things are back out and around the room and it just hits him again and that no one who came into the waiting room had even told him about it and he just closes his eyes and tries to go through but the bathroom smells like his mother's shampoo and he's retreating to go sit in the hallway outside his bathroom with his face in his knees and trying not to cry]
Cora: [she finishes her shower and is feeling more like herself and she makes her way out again, and when she sees Stiles she makes her way closer moving to rest her hand on his shoulders] Stiles?
Stiles: [and he will take a deep breath] It smelled like her shampoo.
Cora: [and she'll settle next to him, sliding her arms around him to pull him closer] I'm sorry.
Stiles: [he wants to go curl into her, but at the same time he doesn't want to think about it and just shook his head] I just want to take a shower right now.
Cora: [she nods] I'm done. You can use the other bathroom.
Stiles: Thanks. [and he's going to stand up and just go into the bathroom and take a long, hot shower, leaning forward as the water just runs over him, trying to soothe him]
Cora: [and she'll just go back to his room and sit on his bed and wait for him, the high of finding him and him being safe fading away as the consequences set in]
Stiles: [and as the water starts to go cold, he will clean up and get out, and soon he's heading back to the bedroom and he just looks exhausted because even if it's felt like only a few days to him - he hasn't eaten, drank, or slept in all that time either and the latter is catching up with him first] I think I need a nap until Dad gets back.
Cora: [she nods slowly] I should probably sleep too. [and since she knows that he's not happy with her ...] Can I stay?
Stiles: [blinks, looking over at her] Yeah, of course. [her not staying was an option?]
Cora: [and that relaxes her some so she just nods and scoots over so that he can climb into bed next to her and she can curl up with him. There's a pause as she watches him settle, before ...] I still slept here every night. And every time I woke up, I knew something was missing. [it's just ... everything else was a steaming pile of suck and she's not proud of how she handled it]
Stiles: [and he will climb in and hold her, taking in the scent of his shampoo on her hair] I guess a part of you just knew where you belonged.
Cora: [she nods as she curls into him, nuzzling the nape of his neck for a moment. There's another long pause, before she brings up the other thing she has to tell him] It was a girl.
Stiles: [and he's just going to close his eyes] Can we not talk about that right now?
Cora: Okay. [they don't have to. she'll just close her eyes and tangle herself against him the way she hasn't been able to in a long time and try not to feel how even though he's there, for some reason she still feels broken]
Stiles: [and he's going to just keep denying that things are wrong with him, and how each little reminder of how much he has missed breaks pieces of him off]
Cora: [but eventually she passes out because her body has been going hard all day and she's going to sleep for a good long while]
