canon au } { post-6a, of returning winchesters and hunting parties

Sam: [and when they finally get to the place to check on Ben and Olivia, he is going to seek out his daughter and wrap her in a tight hug]

Olivia: [and she will return it just as tight, burying her face against his shoulder]

Sam: [just keeps her close] Don't ever do something like that again to me, ok?

Olivia: [she nods a bit] I'll do my best.

Sam: [pulls back to look at her, kissing her forehead] Now that I have you, I don't want to ever lose you.

Olivia: It wasn't intentional. Trust me. [one hand moves to rub her shoulder a bit] I did a whole lot of fighting. They just ... hit harder.

Sam: I'm sure they did.

Olivia: [sighs a bit before looking up at him] How much did I miss?

Sam: Two months. Mostly Dean babysitting someone closer to his own mental age.

Olivia: [eyebrows go up] Who gave him a baby?

Sam: Derek. To be fair, Cora went into labor early and he needed backup.

Olivia: Ah. But I take it the poor child survived?

Sam: Yes, albeit it starting a war between Parrish and Dean on football teams.

Olivia: Yeah, that I don't care about. I'm sure Hal can explain to me why it's important. [when she finally gets up the nerve to call him because she hasn't yet]

Sam: Just remember that around Dean, we're all Cowboys’ fans. You’ll do just fine.

Olivia: Got it. [she nods again] Go Cowboys.

Sam: Good girl. [he's keeping a hand on her shoulder, hesitant of letting go just yet]

Olivia: [she is totally okay with that, to be honest, and will just shift and curl into his side a bit] Was it weird? Suddenly remembering you had a daughter again?

Sam: A bit, but your brother remembered you the whole time, so he kept making us try to remember.

Olivia: [she nods] Just trying to figure out how weird it is for Hal right now.

Sam: It probably isn't as weird as you think. Most people seem to just be like "oh, hey where've you been?" if they didn't have a reason to think of something missing.

Olivia: Yeah, but this is also where all the weird was happening so they got taken too? Whereas Hal is four hours away and would have no reason to be reminded that I exist.

Sam: We never entered Beacon Hills. We stayed outside of the border to keep Michael safe.

Olivia: [she nods, just picking at the hem of her shirt for a moment, before nodding again, this time more surely] I'll figure it out.

Sam: I know you will. Just don't get too mad at him. He is only human after all.

Olivia: No, I know. I don't want to just ... go up there and find out he met a whole other girl and ...

Sam: You want me to send someone up to spy on him?

Olivia: No. [shakes her head] I'll call him later. Just ... worst case scenario brain. It's hard to turn off.

Sam: Oh trust me, I know. [smiles at her] So you really like this boy, huh?

Olivia: [looks down a bit] Yeah. I mean, he found out my whole life story and didn't run screaming, so that's something, right?

Sam: It's a big something.

Olivia: [she shrugs] And I really like his folks. I think you'd like his dad. He's an American History professor in Boston.

Sam: Yeah, sounds like someone I'd get along with.

Olivia: I mean, I don't always know what I'm doing when I'm there, but they've never treated me like I'm weird for not knowing a movie or a singer or something.

Sam: Yeah, I went through that a lot when I went to college and didn't know half of the things most guys that age should know.

Olivia: So yeah. I kinda want to keep that.

Sam: And your brother's met him and doesn't want to shoot him in the face?

Olivia: Michael's met him and he didn't shoot him in the face? [which means she can't speak to if the desire is still there, but he managed to control himself.]

Sam: That's a good sign. [looks over where Ben is arriving from having reappeared with Lindsay. He looks at Dean, and then nods his head towards Ben]

Dean: [and he will get up to go head over and check on him, but you know ... be a man about it, because that's how Dean rolls]

Olivia: [she nods] I guess. We'll see how it goes.

Ben: [nods as well] Hey.

Sam: Well, you don't have to hang out with me.

Olivia: [glances up with a small smirk] You sure about that?

Dean: You doin' okay?

Sam: I'm not going to complain if you want to stay, but you sound like you want to call Hal. And I'm sure your brother is waiting to literally attach a GPS to you.

Olivia: [nods and will go ... sneak off to talk her brother out of that first]

Ben: I've been worse. [in case anyone doubted Ben's Winchester gene, his avoiding talking about his feelings kills all arguments]

Dean: [nods and that's about all the touchy feely crap he wants to get into so far, especially if Ben doesn't want to talk about it] Beer?

Ben: Hell yeah. I haven't eaten in apparently two months.

Dean: Beer and burgers then. [and off he heads to place an order, so let's just say they're in a bar for convenience!]

Ben: [works for him. he'll text Lindsay so she knows where he is, because he's trying to be really good with communication to her. Everyone else gets what spoons he has left] I'm surprised you didn't run in trying to take out the Nazi.

Dean: [he shrugs] I've already killed Hitler. You can't really go up from there.

Ben: [blinks, looking at his father a moment before shaking his head] I'm going to assume this is a Cas made me do it thing?

Dean: Oh no. This is a very complicated necromancer magic thing.

Ben: Fun times. [oh thank god there's beer]

Dean: Yep. Just a normal day in the life of a Winchester. [yep, let's just take a long drink of those] Besides, we had Alex and Claire, and Derek needed us to take Amelia for a bit, so it's probably for the best.

Ben: Amelia? Derek left the baby with you?

Dean: Why does everyone always sound surprised when I say that? I'm great with children. Babies love me.

Ben: I believe with kids. [come on, Dean, he met you as an eight year old.] You're awesome with kids. But a baby crying and pooping everywhere?

Dean: You know, they do have little personalities under all that. And she barely cried with me at all.

Ben: Consider me shocked. Not something I ever thought of.

Dean: Well, now you know.

Ben: I do. Not that I'm going to need those services anytime soon.

Dean: Good. That's a good plan, and you should stick with it. I do not want to be "Grandpa" right now.

Ben: Technically back home I can't promise that.

Dean: [squints] Did I teach you nothing?

Ben: You taught me to shoot a gun and kick a bully in the nuts. That’s got to count for something. [he looked at them] You really think there are still condom manufactures open ten years into an apocalypse?

Dean: [nods] Okay, that's fair.

Ben: And you only left so many in Baby. [smirks because yeah, he went there]

Dean: [and makes a face] I need something stronger than beer now.

Ben: [laughs and raises his hand] Two whiskey chasers.

Dean: [rubs a hand over his face] Anyway. You didn't really miss much on the Winchester front.

Ben: Good to know. I mean, you two have a tendency to start apocalypses when left unattended.

Dean: Yeah, I think we're officially out of that business. Leave that shit to the Slayers.

Ben: Oh trust me, I keep my eye on them too. I think they find it amusing that there's a Winchester with them trying to keep them from breaking the world.

Dean: To be fair to most Slayers, they don't usually start stuff.

Ben: I have my doubts about that with Faith.

Dean: Faith has been through shit. She was gas lighted into helping with one when she was a kid, but she's never actively started one, not the way me and Sam have. [though to be fair, Sam was kind of gas lighted too, but Sam should have known better. he was older and had seen more of the world - was acting on grief rather than thinking things through. Faith ... Faith was just a fucked up kid who wanted a father, and Dean understands that more than anyone] She's done a lot to atone for what she did - she even turned herself in and went to jail for a while, so don't judge her before you know the full story.

Ben: Hey, you don't have to talk to me about Sam's gas lighting. I lived it. But fine, I'll give her a chance. She just comes off as a loose cannon to me and I don't like loose cannons.

Dean: [he laughs] Well, she is a little bit of that, but not nearly as much as she used to be.

Ben: That's reassuring.

Dean: [he shrugs] I've met crazier, more reckless hunters than Faith Lehane - let's put it that way.

Ben: I've heard stories. Gordon, that Jesus loving dude...

Dean: Yeah. Faith, at least, is grounded in reality.

Ben: [finishes off his beer] Anyone else I should be cautious about?

Dean: Nah, most of 'em are dead at this point.

Ben: That's a relief. [because Ben knows that there is a price for being the son of Dean Winchester - he just doesn't know what it is yet in this world]

Dean: Though there may be someone I haven't met yet.

Ben: Oh?

Dean: I don't know every hunter in America, dude. And new people join the cause every day.

Ben: Did I say you should?

Dean: Well, I'm just saying there may still be crazy out there.

Ben: Well, you know you can always call me to come back to the bunker if you need me. If any of them show up at your doorstep.

Dean: I will let you know.

Ben: Good. [and their food arrives and Ben realizes just how hungry he is and pretty much dives into it]

Dean: [smirks and goes to dive into his as well]

Ben: [and for a moment they are mirror images of each other in their love for burgers]

Dean: [yep. it's just that cute]

Ben: [like father and son. aww]

Dean: [yeah, and if Sam makes any comments later, he's going to deny it]

Ben: [and Ben will point out that Sam can just sit across from Michael while reading a book and try to deny the same thing]

Dean: [so stuff it, Sam]

Sam: [how is he even in this conversation?!]

Dean: [he's just preemptively assuming how he's going to handle this]

Sam: [jerk]

Dean: [bitch]
