puppy love } { of waking witches and christmas bonfires

Peter: [looks up at her and smiles] Beautiful December morning, isn't it?

Hayley: Yeah. It's great. What are you doing here?

Peter: Delivering a present from Santa.

Hayley: You're a little tall for an elf.

Peter: Never stooped my niece from putting the hat on me. [he reached into his pocket and pulled out a vial]

Hayley: [and all snark drops from her features when she sees that, because she's almost afraid to hope] ... Is that ...

Peter: I'm not a witch, so the bite or the mark are beyond my skills to brew anything. But a simple poison on a simple human just needed some time, and a sample to work with.

Hayley: What's the catch?

Peter: I'm sure you've noticed that my hypothetical team has disbanded. They were not happy to hear of your involvement, or calls to a certain king of New Orleans.

Hayley: There was one call, and he didn't actually tell me anything, but okay. [she tips her head to the side] Are you looking for a job?

Peter: Not particularly. I prefer to remain unaligned. Plus I believe that contractors are paid triple an employee’s salary.

Hayley: [she laughs] Okay, fine. I'll talk to the Chief and see what I can do. [and she'll reach out to take the vial but considering that Hayley is ninety percent emotions, ten percent sass, that's also going to turn into a very tight hug DEAL WITH IT PETER. You just handed her a solution she's been searching for for five years] Thank you.

Peter: [and he stiffens because he is not big on affection outside his family since he hasn't really had it. In a long time. And his memory makes it feel longer than it has been physically but yeah] Merry Christmas. [said in his flat monotone]

Hayley: [you didn't shove her off, she'll take it. She'll just nod as she pulls back with a small smile] You too. [then she holds up the vial] I should go wake up a witch.

Peter: When she's recovered and feeling up to it, contact me. I will need her help for the other two, and she will need my supplies.

Hayley: Will do. And thank you, again. I'll let you know what's up when I've discussed things with the Chief.

Peter: [nods, and he will go pick up his paper and head off to go take his turn watching Ben for the afternoon since Malia has a final, Cora has work and Ben is already out of school.]

Hayley: [and she will go into the office and head straight for the Mikaelsons. Heaven help whoever tries to get in her way]

Stiles: [that is a look of fierce determination on his partners face add she's walking down THAT hallway] Hayley?

Hayley: I'm not stopping so if you need to talk to me you have to come with. [yep, she's definitely going down THAT hallway and heading to the pinpad that she now has a code for]

Stiles: i don't think i could stop you if I wanted to. What's going on?

Hayley: [the doors open and Hayley moves towards one of the tables with medical supplies on them] Peter came through for Freya.

Stiles: Wait what? Are you sure?

Hayley: There's only one way we're going to find out. [she says as she puts the needle in the vial to draw out some of the liquid] You can't exactly test for this stuff.

Stiles: And what if it kills her?

Hayley: It can't. The spell is linked to Klaus's life force and is basically holding her in stasis. So long as no one kills Klaus, she can get better but she can't get worse. [a beat as she finishes drawing the cure before giving a small shrug] This isn't the first time I've had to wing it.

Stiles: I just don't want you to put all your faith in Peter Hale.

Hayley: I'm never going to know for sure unless I try it. And I can't give up on hope - the person, or the emotion. [because if she gets Freya back, then that means she's one step closer to getting Elijah back and that ache hasn't really faded over the last five years. she moves towards Freya's coffin, opening the lid fully and reaching for her arm to inject the cure. She then takes the other woman's hand as she kneels on the floor to wait. One minute ticks by, then two, then - ]

Freya: [there's a sharp, hard intake of breath as Freya's eyes fly open and she surges up from where she's laying. Her fingers curl around Hayley's tightly as there's a few deep breaths, and then a bit of coughing as her lungs get used to working at a more active pace again] I always hated this part.

Stiles: [backpedals a bit] Don't think anyone would like that...

Freya: [her eyes glance up to the unfamiliar voice in confusion, before glancing back to Hayley and her brow furrowing]

Hayley: He's a friend, not a foe. Stiles, can you get her a glass of water?

Stiles: Yeah, I can do that. [and he will go and find a bottle of water]

Freya: [nods as she turns towards Hayley more, starting to climb out of the coffin slowly] How long?

Hayley: Five years.

Freya: The others?

Hayley: Not yet. Is that a problem? Do I need to wake you all up at once?

Freya: [shakes her head as she resettles on the floor] I just need to do a little spell maintenance, that's all. I'll need some of their blood and Klaus'. Do you have any left?

Hayley: [nods] Yeah. And I'll get Beks, Elijah and Kol while we're here. [and she gets up to do that, leaving Freya to sit there and close her eyes for a moment]

Stiles: [and he will come back, unsure of what's going on but he will hold out the water bottle, and then also a bag of mini peanut butter cups] I figure you could use some protein too and it was all I had in my desk.

Freya: [and she smiles softly, before taking the water and the bag from him] Don't worry. A cheeseburger is definitely on my agenda. But thank you. [her voice is still raspy so she will go for the water bottle first and down about half of it before she leans back] Much better.

Stiles: I'm Stiles, by the way. You don't know, but I was introduced to you already while you were sleeping. You've got a very big fan in the seven year old girls' club.

Freya: [smiles at that] I'm very fond of her as well, believe me. It's nice to meet you, Stiles.

Stiles: Same here. How are you feeling?

Freya: A little lightheaded and heavy limbed, but that's normal. I've taken longer naps than this one. [she looks around at the room and frowns] Where are we, exactly?

Stiles: Technically, you're in a place that doesn't exist, and if I told you, I'd have to kill you. [he's joking, but he's not joking] I'm hoping Hayley has a plan to sneak you out of here because she was pretty gung ho and not subtle about coming in here to wake you up.

Freya: [well that's curious. she squints at him before popping one of the Reese's cups in her mouth. Mmmm chocolate] Is there a reason why they would try and keep me here?

Stiles: Because you're an extremely powerful witch from a bloody family that people fear? [he shrugs, indifferent]

Freya: [considers, then shrugs] I suppose that's fair. But I am mostly mortal and don't need to eat people to survive, so I think I can convince them to let me go. Especially since if we don't get to my supplies that are in Hayley's apartment, Rebekah will probably wake up and eat everyone. [she's not above being pragmatic] And my brothers will die which will not make Klaus very happy either.

Hayley: We'll be able to get you out of here just fine. [she tucks the three vials of blood into her pocket before moving to help Freya up] We just have to make sure that Donovan doesn't see us.

Freya: Matt Donovan?

Stiles: Yeah, him. You have history with him?

Freya: Mmm. He shot me once.

Hayley: [gives her a look at that] Finn shot you.

Freya: Semantics. The gun was in his hand and his finger was on the trigger - my brother really just aimed for him. [then she smiles] And while we were sleeping Rebekah and I had a lovely talk about him. She had all kinds of stories.

Stiles: Yeah, those are stories I'd rather never hear. I think I need to pre-bleach my brain in fact.

Freya: [she laughs, before linking her arm in Hayley's] I can handle Matt Donovan if we see him. But for right now, I need to adjust the spell.

Hayley: [nods] I know. Let's get you out of here.

Stiles: It's better if he doesn't see you. Trust me. I'll go run interference, but you'll owe me a drink later for it. [he obviously loves Matt, can't you tell]

Freya: I can do that. [the Mikaelsons do love to drink after all]

Hayley: We're heading back to my place. You can bring the bourbon and meet us there.

Freya: [makes a face and over Hayley's shoulder as she's ushered out:] Tequlia.

Stiles: Well, it's Christmas. Bourbon and Tequila for everyone.

Freya: [her eyes widens] It's Christmas? Did you have the bonfire already?

Hayley: [she laughs] Don't worry. We'll make it work.

Stiles: I don't have Ben tonight or I'd bring him over to distract Hope for you. But I'll find you in a bit.

Hayley: [nods and continues to escort Freya out]

Stiles: [and he will go be a diversion, and once he's been diverting people for a while, he will go check out for the holiday, head to the liquor store, and then over to Hayley's] Knock knock.

Hayley: [and springs over to open the door with a smile] Hey. Come on in.

Stiles: Thanks. [and he will come in, holding the bag of alcohol, and then he also happened to swing by Five Guys.] I realized I needed food if I was going to drink, and wasn't sure if you wanted to double down on that cheeseburger need. Got one for everyone.

Freya: [grins from where she's sitting with Hope, putting together a bucket of flammable things] Yes, please.

Hope: Hi, Stiles! Are you going to stay for the bonfire?

Stiles: Bonfire? I hope you got permission from the DCFD. They get pretty testy with people setting fires outside in the city

Hayley: It's a very small bonfire. That happens on the roof and the fire department does know that we do it

Stiles: [nods] Well, Hope, you're just in luck because I love setting things on fire when I'm given the opportunity. [grins]

Hope: Good! And you have to make a wish.

Stiles: A wish? What kind of wish?

Freya: Mikaelson family tradition. We make a wish for the new year and write it down, and then burn it in the bonfire.

Stiles: That actually sounds like a cool tradition. I think I can think up a wish.

Hope: Good. [and she'll go back to heaping newspaper and kindling in the bucket]

Stiles: [and he will go to lay out the burgers and fries] Mini witch, you want ketchup or mayo on yours?

Hope: Ketchup. Mayo is gross.

Stiles: Right there with you. [and he will fix her burger and bring it over to her] Freya, how do you take yours? I have them put all the toppings on the side

Freya: Lettuce, tomato, cheese and lots of ketchup.

Stiles: You want fries with that? [heads back to make the burger]

Freya: Yes, please.

Stiles: [and he will make her plate and bring it over] Hayley, I know your order. [smirks at her as he goes to fix them]

Hayley: Thank you!

Stiles: [and he will make their plates, and then walk over and put the rest of the fries between the hybrid and her spawn because they can eat double the amount he does]

Hope: [yes they can] Are you going to see Ben for Christmas?

Stiles: Yes, I actually go to pick him up in the afternoon on Christmas Day and then I'm keeping him for the weekend. Why, you want to come hang out with us?

Hope: May-be.

Stiles: Well, we were thinking of hitting up the Spy Museum.

Hope: Cool.

Stiles: You want to come with us?

Hope: Yeah! [back to Hayley:] Mom, can I go?

Hayley: Sure. I'm sure Aunt Freya will be busy charming surly werewolves.

Freya: Always seemed to work well with Jackson.

Stiles: Do I know the werewolves you're going to go charm? Because if it's the werewolf I'm thinking you're talking about, you're going to want to just make that your wish right now because you're going to need everything you can get on your side.

Freya: Hayley says he wished to speak with me. I am simply acquiescing to his request.

Stiles: Well, good luck. Just don't give him an inch. He's a manipulative bastard.

Freya: Oh, that I have plenty of experience with. Believe me.

Stiles: Good Luck.

Hope: [tugs on her mom's sleeve] Who are you talking about?

Hayley: Ben's Uncle Peter. He helped me wake up your Aunt Freya.

Stiles: Ben doesn't know that he did that though, so it's a secret, ok?

Hope: Okay. Why is it a secret?

Stiles: Because Ben's uncle hasn't told him yet that he's helping your mom, and you know how you can't tell people what your mom does, right?

Hope: Yeah.

Stiles: So until his uncle tells him, we can't tell him.

Hope: But Ben knows about me? And werewolves? He can keep a secret.

Hayley: Yeah, kiddo. But sometimes they aren't our secrets to tell.

Stiles: Yeah. But I'll let you know when he knows, okay?

Hope: Okay.

Freya: Anyway, he claims he wants to help wake you aunt and uncles, so I will see what he has to say.

Stiles: And I think then it's totally worth keeping it a secret if he can do that, right?

Hope: And then we get my dad?

Hayley: And then we get your dad. And hopefully convince Marcel to leave us in peace.

Stiles: [looks over at Hayley, because he's been meaning to ask her what happens when they go to get Klaus. Will he ever see them again?]

Hayley: [that ... depends entirely on Marcel. so she doesn't say anything for now and distracts her daughter instead] Why don't you show Aunt Freya how to get up to the roof?

Hope: Okay! [and she'll take Freya's hand and off they go]

Stiles: [and when they are gone, he goes to get the bourbon] So when you go back to get Klaus...

Hayley: If Marcel doesn't murder us all ... I don't know what we're going to do. Hope likes it here, but ... a lot of this depends on Marcel.

Stiles: What are you going to do with Hope when you go back or this battle?

Hayley: Probably not take her with us. [there's a beat] Her grandmother lives in town. I'll probably leave her with her.

Stiles: If not, I'll take her. Maybe take her and Ben for a long weekend to that hotel in Virginia that's an indoor water park.

Hayley: I'll let you know. But no offense, I'd feel better leaving her with a werewolf.

Stiles: I could bring Cora along.

Hayley: You'd have to tell her what she was signing up for.

Stiles: [sighs] I guess not then. Maybe another time later in winter.

Hayley: Yeah. No, it would definitely be fun. But if it's when the Mikaelsons' are going back for her dad, I want to make sure there's someone with her who's ready to take on vampires.

Stiles: No, I get it. But after that... what if they want to stay in New Orleans. Will you and Hope go?

Hayley: I don't know. I don't really think they want New Orleans back. They just don't want Klaus to be Marcel's prisoner. [a beat] As far as I'm concerned, he can have the damn city. I just want my daughter's father back.

Stiles: But will them being here make our jobs harder?

Hayley: Again. That depends on Marcel.

Stiles: I've just gotten used to this job.

Hayley: Hey, your job isn't going anywhere yet.

Stiles: Yeah, but I only like it because I've got a good partner.

Hayley: Well, I'm not going anywhere yet either.

Stiles: Good. [refills his glass] Though people are going to start wondering if we're sleeping together soon.

Hayley: [she snorts] I'm taken.

Stiles: Yeah, I noticed. [smirks into his glass]

Hayley: Hey, don't judge me. He may be in an extended magical coma and I haven't spoken to him or been with him in five years but he went through way more bullshit with me so I at least owe him my patience.

Stiles: Did I say anything? I actually find it kinda romantic. In a messed up supernatural way.

Hayley: [she smirks] So you're pro-waiting for a love who you don't know when you'll see again?

Stiles: You see him all the time. He's in a box you drag around from place to place.

Hayley: It's not the same. I can't talk to him. And he can't see me.

Stiles: But you know where he is. His condition. You have a path to follow to get you back to him. And you're not waiting - you're moving things into place to get him back.

Hayley: I'm still waiting. I may have forward motion, I may have purpose, but that doesn't mean I don't feel how long it's been.

Stiles: Well, hopefully your wait is almost over.

Hayley: [tips her head to the side as he watches him] So could yours.

Stiles: [shakes his head] Nah, it's better this way for me.

Hayley: You sure about that?

Stiles: Yeah, I am. [sips his drink] For one thing, it's easier to keep my secrets.

Hayley: Secrets aren't worth having if you don't have anyone to share them with.

Stiles: Some of my secrets would get another person killed. Or become a target.

Hayley: Then pick someone who can protect themselves.

Stiles: You really don't want me to be single, do you?

Hayley: I think that you don't want to be single. Otherwise you wouldn't bring it up so much.

Stiles: I didn't bring it up. I made a joke that I think our coworkers think we're sleeping together from the amount of time we spend together because of either the kids or these things.

Hayley: [she wrinkles her nose a bit] That's kind of bringing it up.

Stiles: Fine, then let's stop talking about it.

Hayley: Okay, then.

Hope: [darts downstairs and sticks her head in the door] Are you coming or what?!

Stiles: Hey, are we allowed to roast marshmallows over this bonfire? [as he gets up, changing the topic]

Hope: Not until after the wishing part. [and she will guide them upstairs to do their Christmas thing and /scene?]
