puppy love } { of meddling sisters and dancing lessons

Peter: [so when the kids finally get their freedom back and he's said goodbye to his little nephews, he will literally bolt from the house to get into the fresh air and away from the overbearingness of his family for a bit]

Freya: [which is fair, he should do that. meanwhile Freya is back in the attic of her house, pouring over spell ingredients and she buffs up protection spells and tries to figure out a way to keep Hope protected until she has her brothers to help with the effort]

Peter: [and hopefully he is still allowed to go onto the premises, but he sends her a text that he is coming to check on her just in case]

Freya: [she's been ignoring her phone so that text is going to go on the pile from Rebekah and Hayley that she's not responding to, but she hasn't locked Peter out of the house, no.]

Rebekah: [she has, however, left a very sullen Rebekah standing on the porch because she hasn't been invited in yet and her sister isn't answering her phone] This is getting ridiculous, Freya.

Peter: [and he will come strolling up to the house] Let me guess, you're invitation is still in the mail?

Rebekah: [sighs] Something like that. [and then she glances back to him and her eyes narrow] I know you. You're one of the Hales, yeah?

Peter: Yes. Peter Hale.

Rebekah: Right. [glances up to the window, because she remembers Hayley said something about Freya and Peter spending a lot of time together] She's gone into her overprotective mode since everything happened with Hope, and she has been up there, alone, for two days. Likely without taking any time for food or sleep or other human things she needs so I wanted to drag her out for a drink and a meal to get her to relax, but I can't do that if I can't get in the house and she's not answering her phone.

Peter: I had figured as much, which was why I'm here now that we are no longer on lockdown. Let me go and check on her. [and he goes to open the door and walk in] Would you like me to get you anything else while I'm inside? A drink perhaps?

Rebekah: No, I'm fine. If you can get her to leave the house I can live without going in.

Peter: I can't promise much. She's a stronger witch than I am. But I'll at least get food in her. [and he will go upstairs to the attic to look for her]

Freya: [and she is hunched over the table, somehow contorting herself in those weird angles she does, scribbling sigils in a notebook as she tries to get her thoughts in order. there are remains of spells all around her, and it's unclear exactly what she's working on, but she does hear the footsteps on the stairs and will fire back a preemptive] I'm fine.

Peter: [chuckles as he walks in] Tell that to your sister who is unable to enter the home.

Freya: [her brow furrows, and she goes to look out the window. Her sister glances up and Rebekah waves at her] You can come in.

Rebekah: Thank you!

Peter: From what is been told, you’ve been in here for two days with no food or sleep.

Freya: It hasn't been that long. [and she goes to pick up her phone, and looks at the time and date ...] Okay, maybe it has been that long.

Peter: Lack of proper nutrition and sleep will hamper any progress you wish to make. Go placate your sister and check your texts, and I will cook something for you.

Freya: [there's a deep breath and she's about to say "not until her niece is safe"] I ...

Peter: Hope will want her aunt healthy and focused. Hayley can take the brunt of protecting her daughter for a few hours.

Freya: You're not going to leave me alone until I listen to you, are you?

Peter: I don't have the power to compel you, but I can fill this house with the smell of meat and garlic you won't be able to do anything but beg for food.

Freya: [she takes a deep breath before relenting] Fine.

Peter: Thank you. [and he will motion for her to proceed him out]

Freya: [And she will head downstairs and find her sister and Rebekah will pull her into the living room to sit on the couch]

Peter: [and twenty minutes later the smell of steak, potatoes, and veggies are wafting out of the kitchen. Rosemary, garlic and butter are there as well, and Rebecca would get the scent of a good red wine opening]

Rebekah: [and he can hear from the kitchen] Attractive and he cooks.

Freya: Don't you start.

Rebekah: What, I'm simply stating the obvious.

Freya: You are aware he can hear you.

Peter: I think part of it is the point [brining in the wine and the glasses] I made enough for you as well, Rebecca, if you wish to sample the dinner.

Rebekah: I'd love to.

Peter: Wonderful. [and he will pour them wine before taking his own] So how are you feeling? Any after effects from the resuscitation?

Rebekah: Good as new. Feel like my old self again, which is a blessed relief.

Peter: Good. It took a while to figure out that cure, so I'm glad to see its working as intended.

Freya: I think if it wasn't, we'd definitely know by now.

Peter: Well we have been preoccupied.

Freya: It would be hard to miss.

Rebekah: She's right. You would have heard about the bodies at least.

Peter: Only on days the president wasn’t tweeting.

Rebekah: The President is a bird?

Peter: Phone program.

Rebekah: Oh. The internet. Right.

Peter: A thing some people should never be allowed on.

Rebekah: The only thing I've found it good for is music.

Peter: Probably for the best.

Rebekah: So. Peter. I've been told you and my sister have been spending a lot of time together.

Freya: Here we go.

Peter: Yes. I work with Hayley and also spent a lot of the list few years teaching myself magic. I'm found the cure for Freya and had gotten most of the components for yours and your brothers afflictions by the time she awoke.

Rebekah: I knew that part. I'm simply curious as to how you two became friends.

Peter: Continuing to work on the spells. Freya is also aiding me on cataloging a cache off artifacts I'm not skilled enough to evaluate.

Rebekah: [nods before eyeing the two of them] So it's all strictly business.

Peter: Yes.

Rebekah: [there's a "hmmm" before she takes another sip of her wine] Anywhere good to go dancing in this city?

Peter: I can ask my niece. I'm not a big club person

Rebekah: Good. We should go out after dinner.

Peter: [looks at Freya with a single raised eyebrow]

Freya: Rebekah ...

Rebekah: You have been in this house for two days. I've been in a coffin for five years. It's a quiet night, so we are going dancing. All three of us.

Peter: I don't have the patience for crowded, loud places. But if you both want to go, don’t let me stop you.

Rebekah: Oh, I don't like modern clubs either. I was thinking more of a jazz club.

Peter: [watching her] You're very used to getting what you want, aren't you?

Rebekah: [smirks] Well, I can't say there's a lot of people who easily tell me no.

Freya: Doesn't Cora work in a bar with live music?

Peter: She does.

Freya: Perhaps we can appease my sister and go here instead.

Peter: See, I'm tempted to keep declining because I'm also one who gets what he wants. However, dinner should be ready do we can move this to the dining room.

Rebekah: I'm a thousand years old. I'm fairly certain I can out stubborn you. [and she'll get up to head to the dining room]

Freya: [sighs as she gets up as well] I suggested that because I figured that you would be able to escape upstairs if you needed to.

Peter: iIt would still leave you to her mercy.

Freya: Well, hopefully, I'll have had a great deal of tequila by that point and caught up in Rebekah's fun.

Peter: Just remember you need rest too.

Freya: If I feel I'm getting overwhelmed, I'll text you.

Peter: And perhaps with your brothers still sleeping, she may find a different distraction and we can both escape.

Freya: Fingers crossed.

Rebekah: Are we going to eat or not?

Peter: Yes. [and he will go and carve the meat and make the plates to hand them]

Freya: [and they will sit down to have delicious, delicious food]

Peter: [yup because he is awesome]

Freya: [and lovely dinner conversation and off they go to the bar! where Landon is playing something that's good to dance to and Cora is working the bar]

Peter: [and he is so trying not to look like he is completely out of his comfort zone]

Cora: [smirks and him when he comes up to get their drinks] You okay?

Peter: Not in the least. [but thank god for whiskey]

Cora: [she sighs softly] I know it's a little loud, but Freya's voice is easy to pick up in a crowd. Just focus on it, and it'll become easier to tune everything else into background noise.

Peter: [and he is going to give her a what are you suggesting in that look]

Cora: [and she'll give him a look right back, because she's not implying. much. okay maybe a little, but it's been a while since Peter has had an actual friend]

Peter: Just keep them coming. [the drinks]

Cora: [she nods and hands him off the drinks, and slips the key to her apartment, along with one of them] Ben and Malia are upstairs if you really need to escape, and you can get to the roof from there too.

Peter: Thank you. [which he will see if he needs to escape. But he does focus on Freya's voice]

Freya: [and she and Rebekah are laughing and dancing to the song being played, Freya actually relaxing more than she has since he met her. the power of music + Rebekah]

Peter: [and he will watch them, a half smile on his face as he sips his drink]

Cora: [totally watching him and totally texting her brother the gossip]

Freya: [and eventually they will return to the table and she will reach for her drink] Oooh tequila.

Derek: [ooooo gossip]

Peter: You and your human constitution.

Freya: At least I can get drunk.

Rebekah: I'm not sure if that's an argument for or against your human constitution. [takes her bourbon with a smirk]

Peter: you can also get sick and I don't want to think what a hangover feels like.

Freya: I have a witch remedy for that. And I know when to stop.

Peter: Good.

Freya: [she nods and takes her next shot of tequila before the song changes and her face lights up] Oh, I love this song!

Peter: [he has no idea what any of this music is, to be honest. The music of this generation is just noise to him]

Landon: [!!!!! DO NOT CALL HIS LIFE'S WORK NOISE PETER also he plays stuff from the eighties. don't assume, you don't know his life]

Freya: [and she will reach over to take his wrist gently] Come dance with us.

Peter: [he didn't say your voice was noise, Landon. Just the song selection. Calm down. But he will look at her hand on his] I'm not good at this kind of dancing.

Freya: It's not that hard, I promise. I'll show you. [pleeeeeeeeease but if he's really insistent on not she'll back off]

Peter: [he sighs, but he gets up] You're just lucky I can't deny a pretty face.

Freya: [and that makes her grin as she leads him out onto the dance floor and moves behind him] This isn't about being good. It's just about not thinking about it too hard.

Peter: Yes, something I'm not all that good at, if you can't tell.

Freya: Mmm-hmmm. [she smirks as her arm slips around his waist] Do you trust me?

Peter: [and he will stiffen a bit because hi, he hasn't been touched like that in a long time] I do.

Freya: [she keeps the contact, but loosens her grip a bit, not wanting him to feel trapped] Close your eyes, take a deep breath and just ... focus on the rhythm of the music.

Peter: [oh, he's sure Cora's filming it and sending it to them, which may be why he is trying not to look like he is having fun. He closes his eyes though as she asks and takes a calming breath] It's hard to focus on the music when your daughter's best friend is the one singing.

Freya: [she laughs] Not the voice. Just the rhythm. [she'll start to shift behind him and sway in time to the rhythm] Find the bass line behind his voice.

Peter: [he nods and takes another deep breath, trying to find the rhythm. When he finds that beat, matching the swaying of her hips, he is able to use that to start to join her in just moving side to side]

Freya: [Yes, good, that's progress. there will be added encouragements as they start to get more into the music and hopefully he eventually won't need her coaching at all]

Peter: [no, he is a fast learner though and will soon find his groove, and maybe even smile at her]

Freya: [success! maybe they'll even get a few songs in]

Peter: [probably. He is sure that he will hear about this all from his family another day, but he is going to just focus on Freya and let the rest of the world melt away as Cora had suggested]

Freya: [and eventually Landon will call his set for the night, and everyone will clap, while Freya sways a bit because there was definitely more booze in there too]

Rebekah: And I think it's time for this one to head back.

Peter: I can take her home if you want to find more entertainment. [he's tired, but he can push through to get her home]

Rebekah: [shakes her head] I've got this. I'll make sure she gets home in one piece.

Peter: [he will nod, not trying to show he was a bit disappointed in that, but he will smile anyway] Then I guess I will see you another day. Get home safe.

Rebekah: [she sees that, and will file that away for later. instead, she gives him a small smile and squeezes his hand] See you later.

Cora: [well, your niece is still over here working the bar if you want to wander over and talk to her. she promises she won't tease you]

Peter: [oh he was going to do that, sitting down across from her and giving her a look] How many photos did you send your brother?

Cora: I plead the fifth. [she'll pour him another drink for his trouble though] It was nice though. Seeing you have a good time.

Peter: [takes the drink and shakes his head] I felt like a clumsy fool.

Cora: Maybe. But you were also smiling. And that's a rare sight indeed.

Peter: [snorts] I smile.

Cora: You rarely mean it. You smile when you're being sarcastic or a know it all, that's not a real smile. [it's a tactic, to make it seem like he's not insulting you when he really is, and while she's not complaining about that - it was one of the things that made Peter Peter even before the fire - she can't say she's seen him genuinely smile because he was happy since her mother died]

Peter: [sighs, looking at his drink] You can't change who you are, Cora.

Cora: No, you can't. [and she takes a step forward and rests her hand on his, because she loves her uncle, even when he's an ass, and she does want him to be happy] But you can find someone who appreciates it anyway.

Peter: [he wants to deny it all, claim that he and Freya have nothing in common, and that he doesn't need that in his life. But there is a part of him that does, but refuses to let himself.] Men who show interest in a Mikaelson women tend to disappear without a trace, you realize.

Cora: [she shrugs, because she can't deny that either] Maybe. But I also think that Freya is headstrong enough to make her own choices and she can handle her brothers. You just have to give her the chance to make that choice, instead of doing what you usually do and burying it.

Peter: [and he will just finish his drink] I should get going and let you close up. [deflecting, not at all]

Cora: Sure. You going to go upstairs? [or can she have her key back]

Peter: [gives her back the key] Give Ben my love.

Cora: [takes it back] Will do.

Peter: [and he will go to walk home, taking his time because he doesn't have anywhere to be]

Cora: [and she will finish up her day at the bar before heading upstairs to go to bed!]
