puppy love } { of drive-in movies and sibling complications
Parrish: [and he's going to bring the Sheriff over for dinner and obviously stay because Laura's cooking is amazing, and then he will wait at the door to take her out for the evening while the grandpas and grandkids go camping in the backyard for the evening]
Laura: [and she will change because cooking can get messy, but she won't make him wait too long before she meets him at the door] Ready?
Parrish: Yes ma'am. [and he will go to open the door for her] I doubt they will even notice we're gone.
Laura: Probably not. Grandpa time can take a lot of their focus.
Parrish: And I hear there are going to be smores and ghost stories.
Laura: Yep. They probably won't notice until Ben is scared and goes to climb into bed with me and I'm not there. He'll have to make due with Malia for the night.
Parrish: I could always bring you back earlier.
Laura: [she shakes her head] Nope. This is me time. He'll survive.
Parrish: Good. So I found an old drive-in movie place. I thought we could maybe go and see something there.
Laura: [she smiles] I think that sounds awesome.
Parrish: You want to choose the movie?
Laura: What are my options?
Parrish: I think it was Power Rangers, Beauty and the Beast, and some horror movie.
Laura: Horror movie.
Parrish: [laughs] You just like holding me when it gets too scary.
Laura: [teasing] It's not my fault you're a wimp.
Parrish: I am not a wimp, thank you. [nudges her]
Laura: [she grins at him in return before slipping her arm in his] For some reason, they relax me. Not really sure why.
Parrish: Maybe because you know reality can be a lot worse, and that those movies have horrible effects.
Laura: Maybe. Who knows? I'd just rather see that than a romcom.
Parrish: Even over the singalong version of Beauty and the Beast?
Laura: [she wrinkles her nose] You are talking to the wrong Hale sister. Belle was not my Disney Princess.
Parrish: Pocahontas?
Laura: [she shakes her head] Nope.
Parrish: Mulan?
Laura: That would be the one.
Parrish: Should I worry about you going off one day to save China?
Laura: No. But even if I did, I already have a soldier of my own, so no worries there. [small smile]
Parrish: [smiles back, and leans in to kiss her] Soldier slash Disney prince.
Laura: [kisses him back] Exactly.
Parrish: [and they get to the car and he will usher them off towards the drive in] So what are your weekend plans?
Laura: I have work on Saturday, but Sunday I was thinking about maybe seeing if I can take the boys to the beach. I know Cora has to work during the day, so I figured I'd save Malia the babysitting day.
Parrish: I'm sure she'd appreciate that. And the boys would probably love it.
Laura: [she nods] We'll see if we can actually get Ben in the ocean this year.
Parrish: He doesn't like water?
Laura: He doesn't like actually swimming in the ocean - he worries he's gonna get washed away. He'll go to the edge and get his feet wet but that's about it.
Parrish: Is he not a strong swimmer?
Laura: He's pretty good, but he's still learning. It's more he's very small and the ocean is very big.
Parrish: Even if he has the alpha werewolf out there watching over him, it's still scary.
Laura: Yeah. I won't push him if he really doesn't want to, but I'd like to try and make a few more baby steps.
Parrish: Maybe talk to Stiles about it. He was learning to surf at one point before he moved out this way.
Laura: [there's a slow nod, before she makes a bit of a face] I don't think Stiles really wants to talk to me.
Parrish: No, but if it's about his son, he will.
Laura: [nods again] I'll talk to him if he comes for breakfast tomorrow.
Parrish: Good. [and he will reach over and hold her hand while he drives one-handed] You're going to get there again with them one day, I promise.
Laura: [she sighs as she gives his hand a squeeze] I know. I just also know it isn't going to be on my terms.
Parrish: But at least you still have them.
Laura: [she nods] I do.
Parrish: And the fact Ben loves you is what will make them come back to being good with you. Same with Baal and Derek.
Laura: I don't think Derek resents me as much as Cora does. [though her reading may be wrong on that, hard to say, they haven't really chatted a lot since he got back from traveling]
Parrish: That's good.
Laura: I don't think either of them were happy that we got back together so fast though.
Parrish: Yeah, well that's not your fault. In fact, wasn't it your sister who told you I was in town?
Laura: No, she did not. She just gave you my number and sprung it on me.
Parrish: Oh.
Laura: [she shakes her head as she gives his hand a squeeze] It's okay. I'm glad she did, regardless of how it went down.
Parrish: Me too. [and they will be getting in line to the drive in theatre that has the horror movie in it.]
Laura: [and they will make their way in, get their parking spot, and Laura will glance back over her shoulder] Back seat?
Parrish: Of course. Want me to get us popcorn and sodas?
Laura: Yes please. And Reese's Pieces.
Parrish: You got it. [and he will get out to go get their snacks]
Laura: [and she will crawl into the back seat to get comfortable, which will be easier when the boyfriend comes back]
Parrish: [yup, they can get all snuggly with the snacks and the couplyness]
Laura: [yep. and Laura will laugh at all the parts of the movie that are supposed to be scary]
Parrish: [and he will smile and spend half the movie watching her and not the screen because she is adorable]
Laura: [and for the most part she's invested in the movie, but eventually she'll glance over and catch him looking] What?
Parrish: Nothing? [innocent eyes]
Laura: [and there's a look as though she's trying to verify the validity of that statement]
Parrish: You're adorable.
Laura: Am I?
Parrish: Yes, you are. I love watching your face at these movies.
Laura: [and her head ducks a bit at that] I'll take your word for it.
Parrish: You better. [and he will lean down to kiss the top of her head]
Laura: [laughs as she looks up at him again] I trust you. You better not steer me wrong.
Parrish: I won't. I promise.
Laura: Good. [and she'll lean in to kiss him]
Parrish: [mmm, Laura kisses that taste like popcorn, peanut butter and chocolate. yay]
Laura: [yep they are good kisses and she really doesn't care about the movie anymore]
Parrish: [which is totally the point of the drive-in, you know]
Laura: [yep, use the terrible movie as a cover for making out with your date]
Parrish: [especially when it makes it easy for them to enjoy their company away from the kids and not have to go all the way back to DC]
Laura: [yep. no kids, no nosy siblings, no parental figures, just the two of them and a quiet car that will probably get steamy eventually]
Parrish: [yup, and no one able to see inside to see just how far undressed they may get]
Laura: [well, it's very warm in there, it only makes sense they take some things off]
Parrish: [oh yeah. and it's a tight space so hands are going to end up touching things when stretching out]
Laura: [yep. totally a side effect of the small spaces, and not at all because they want to]
Parrish: [and cramped quarters mean being close and having the find ways to fit the body together for optimal comfort and enjoyment]
Laura: [it's true. she's probably going to wind up straddling his lap at some point, just to economize space]
Parrish: [tucking things into places to mesh together closer just adds to the space saving]
Laura: [yep, and she's more than happy to do that, provided there's a little grinding to go with it]
Parrish: [of course. they do have to make sure it fits in exactly the right way and that's going to take a lot of poking [
Laura: [Yep, lots of poking, lots of shifting, but in the end, they both wind up very happy]
Parrish: [yup, and nice and snuggly until there is a scream from their speakers and he jumps]
Laura: [and that makes her laugh, only partially at him]
Parrish: What, I wasn't expecting that.
Laura: I know, I'm sorry. Just you face was hilarious.
Parrish: [fake pouting]
Laura: [frowns before she leans in to kiss him again] I don't think you any less manly for it.
Parrish: [kisses her back] Better not.
Laura: I would never.
Parrish: [and he's going to just enjoy the distraction from the scary movie that her lips are providing]
Laura: [and they will settle in for the rest of the movie until it's time to head home]
Parrish: [and once they get there, it becomes the decision on if it's a good idea for him to stay and share her room or not. Because two young kids and her father.] So...
Laura: [and she reaches forward to pull him in] It's not like you haven't stayed before.
Parrish: I know. I just don't want it to be awkward.
Laura: You don't have to stay if you don't want to. It's okay.
Parrish: I want to - trust me that's not it.
Laura: [she laughs for a moment, before stepping in to lean in to kiss him] I don't think my dad's under any illusions about how we spend our time. And while he may live here, this is my house. So I won't make you stay if you're uncomfortable, but it won't be a thing. I promise.
Parrish: [he wants to point out that the Sheriff made a 'remember you're a role model to these boys' statement in something completely unrelated to this, but it stuck and he doesn't want the boys to get the wrong idea] As long as he won't shoot me.
Laura: He will not.
Parrish: Then I'll stay. Just remind me of that any time I hesitate.
Laura: [and she smiles because she wanted him to stay, but she nods] I will do my best.
Parrish: You tired, or do you want to just sit around and watch TV since they are all outside?
Laura: If we're going to do what we usually do when we watch a movie, we can watch upstairs. Just in case one of them decides to come in.
Parrish: That is probably the best plan.
Laura: [and she'll nod, before taking his hand and leading him up to her bedroom, where she has her own TV]
Parrish: [and he will be good to be all snuggly with her - and more - as that time comes]
Laura: [and eventually they'll just drift off to sleep in their little corner of the big quiet house]
