[THE LOG FOR THE CONCLUSION OF THE VERY EVENTFUL WEEEKEND.]
Sam: [heads back into the hotel after the rest of the Winchesters leave, calling Dawn]
Dawn: [picks up on the second ring] What's the word?
Sam: Apparently the deal Ben made turned him into some kind of hybrid. Which existing in a world where angels have no grace? Not good.
Dawn: No definitely not good. [she gets up on her feet] You guys taking them to the bunker?
Sam: Dean just left with them. Bela's inbound to get me
Dawn: Okay. Do you need me to call Buffy?
Sam: No, Peter is supposed to return my call and I'll tell them then. However, I should bug out of here in case something is inbound here. Mind if I stay with you for the night?
Dawn: Not at all. This place was getting a little too horror film for my taste with me all by myself.
Sam: I'll pack up my stuff and head over. Be there in like, an hour
Dawn: I'll be here.
Sam: [and he does another sweep of the kid's room, grabs up a missed sock and a box of granola bars, then goes to pack his stuff that is already packed anyway. He checks out both rooms, then heads on over]
Dawn: [is sorting through her books, trying to see if she has anything on angel hybrids. The kitchen looks half sorted, with pots and other various items scattered throughout the kitchen. this is why she shouldn't be left to her own devices]
Sam: [arrives and drops his stuff on the couch] Dawn?
Dawn: [pokes her head up from behind the books] Hey! You can crash in Cora's room, she won't mind. She's barely in there anyway.
Sam: Oh, okay. [picks his bag back up and heads upstairs to drop it on a bed, slips out of his jacket and shoes, and heads back down] So yeah, he made a deal and had his body amped up to hold angel like powers. He's got ink up and down one of his sides that he says keeps it contained.
Dawn: Which angel did he make a deal with?
Sam: Zachariah.
Dawn: [winces] That's a bad deal.
Sam: Yeah, you me and Dean know it. Ben? Let's just say he is proving to be a mini Dean left and right.
Dawn: And no one is surprised.
Sam: Kids going to get himself killed in this world.
Dawn: Yeah, well, that's why he's gotta learn. And fast. Because as long as I'm the only way out, he ain't going anywhere.
Sam: The only way we found to get there was that ritual. Or else finding an angel to push them back. But if Ben's got grace in him? Angels aren't going to be looking to help him.
Dawn: [nods a bit, making a face] I feel bad, I do, but I can't do that to Derek again. And I won't.
Sam: No, I get it Dawn. I do. And I think the kids are getting around to that as well. I think they just don't think it's fair that they aren't as important as anyone else.
Dawn: Yeah, well. Welcome to life. [she sighs softly, running a hand through her hair] Though honestly I could do with being a little less important.
Sam: You ever think about looking for a spell to disconnect you from being a Key and making yourself a real girl?
Dawn: [she laughs] Every day. But so far everything I've found is the same. No Key? No Dawn.
Sam: Garth has got Bobby's library. I can put in a request through him to look for it.
Dawn: [she nods a bit] Looking through the bunker probably wouldn't hurt either?
Sam: Probably won't. We're going to be in there for awhile
Dawn: I could even come and do research in person.
Sam: I highly doubt your wolf will let you that far away from home.
Dawn: [sighs] I know. But a girl can dream, can't she?
Sam: [grins] One day, okay?
Dawn: [she laughs] I'm gonna hold you to that.
Sam: Okay.
Dawn: Anyway. Here's what I have on angel stuff. If you want to get started here, I have a kitchen to finish.
Sam: Sure. I have a feeling I won't find anything because Zachariah was a crazy s.o.b. and just experimented on the kid. Maybe even out of revenge on Dean even after he died.
Dawn: [moves back over to the kitchen to finish sorting] Start with the stuff on nephilim. Technically they're half-angel half-demon but he might have used it as a starting point.
Sam: [nods and dives into the book. Soon, he is long lost in it]
Dawn: [and Dawn is going to town on sorting through the kitchen, all her nervous energy going into nesting that isn't nesting.]
Derek: [and they are home, bags over shoulders]
Dawn: [is almost finished with the kitchen, but there are still pots and pans everywhere, and when she hears the door open, she pops up from behind the counter] Hey. You're home.
Derek: [he looks at her and smiles] Yeah, I am. [so much meaning in three words]
Sam: [looks up as well] Hey, Derek.
Dawn: [she's picking up on something, but she'll talk to him about it later] I said Sam could crash here for tonight. They ran into potential angel trouble and Bela's picking him up tomorrow.
Cora: [wanders in behind her brother, some of her stuff in her hands too] Cool. Hey, Sam.
Derek: Why can we just never get a week off?
Sam: Welcome to my life.
Dawn: Because that would make life easy.
Cora: [just heads upstairs with her stuff to put it away without even blinking.]
Derek: [watches her go up, smiling a bit before leaving his stuff on the couch and going over to properly hug and kiss Dawn]
Dawn: [there's a bit of a smile as he kisses her, arms sliding around his neck as she leans in closer] I missed you.
Derek: I missed you too. So did you break up with Fabio while I was gone?
Sam: [...., yeah, reaching for his Ipod]
Dawn: I did. He just wasn't doing it for me. And I kept having dreams where I had to chase him with a mop.
Derek: [chuckles] I'm going to even ask.
Dawn: [nods] It's for the best.
Cora: [makes her way back down the stairs, and jerks her thumb over her shoulder] I'm gonna go see Stiles.
Derek: [looks over his shoulder at her] Alright. Have fun.
Cora: [small smile and she's out the door]
Dawn: [waits until the door closes before drawing his attention back to her] So how was Berkeley.
Derek: Let's just sum it up on that I'm never, ever, going to suggest that Cora have her friends over while I'm home.
Dawn: [she smiles sympathetically, before rubbing his arms] How are you recovering?
Derek: Better. But Maria and Tara are inbound as well since they want to check out the newest Winchesters on the block.
Dawn: [cringes] That might be a problem as our newest Winchesters have been shipped off to the bunker because of aforementioned angel problems.
Sam: [hears his name and pulls out one earbud in time] Yeah. Apparently the eldest decided to make a deal with an angel for power that any angel is going to want here.
Derek: Yup, Dean's kid. Apparently his life choices are genetic.
Dawn: It's true. But until we figure out what his deal is, they're on lockdown.
Derek: Bunker?
Sam: Best place.
Derek: [nods] Well, at least it'll keep whatever's going on in Beacon Hills from interfering
Dawn: [she nods] Definitely better than having too many supernatural cooks in the same kitchen.
Sam: It could be worse. We could be in LA.
Dawn: [winces] Yeah, we don't need Wolfram and Hart making this worse.
Sam: That's the last thing we need.
Derek: Angels are a bit out of my studies, or I'd help.
Dawn: It's okay. I'd rather have you to myself anyway. And we have enough to worry about.
Sam: I appreciate the offer though.
Derek: Yeah, we usually do. [just puts his arm around her waist loosely, keeping her close]
Dawn: [nods a bit, before tugging on his arm so that they can head over to the couch and sit, rather than stand the whole time] Hopefully the girls didn't traumatize you any further than the one you told me about.
Derek: No, though I'm pretty sure the blond one - Tara - is going to be a handful for however she ends up with.
Dawn: That does not surprise me. But I also think it could do her some good to have someone in her life.
Derek: It'll stop her from living vicariously through Cora's sex life, that's for sure.
Dawn: [she nods] One can only hope.
Derek: [leaning back into the couch] So I miss anything else?
Dawn: [shakes her head as she settles against him, resting her head against his shoulder] Not really. I was reorganizing the kitchen.
Derek: Were you that bored?
Dawn: [shakes her head] Just restless. I needed something to do, the kitchen presented itself.
Derek: Well, I would distract you, but with company, it's probably bad form.
Dawn: Mmmm. Probably. But I would be open to distractions once company is gone.
Derek: Good. [though] You know, maybe this is a good reason to start looking at putting up the walls you want.
Dawn: [she brightens a bit] See? Now you're starting to see the methods to my madness.
Derek: Think Xander would come up and do it?
Dawn: Totally. He'd be happy to put his rusty construction skills to use.
Derek: [eyebrows up] Rusty?
Dawn: Not ... unusable rusty. Just ... no used in a while rusty. He's mostly been stuck in the castle doing Watcher stuff.
Derek: [nods] Well, if he can make us a master suite and a small library on that side if the loft. [pointing at his bed] That's enough to start with. I should be able to pay him well enough.
Dawn: I'll call him tomorrow, and see what he says.
Derek: Good.
Dawn: [she smiles a bit, pleased that they seem to be moving forward] Sibling time must have been good.
Derek: It was good. We talked.
Dawn: Good. It seemed like you two needed it.
Derek: I think I also came to a decision. But I need to talk to you about it first because it's not something easy for me to talk about.
Dawn: [nods for a moment, glancing to Sam. Then she reaches for his hand, giving him a bit of a tug off the couch] C'mon. Let's go upstairs.
Derek: Alright. [and he's just going to let her lead him]
Dawn: [they head up to Cora's room and she shuts the door behind them - Sam doesn't have super hearing, so that should keep him from eavesdropping - not that he would. She then sits on the bed, back pressed up against the headboard and legs stretched out in front of her, before gesturing for him to sit next to her] What do you want to talk about?
Derek: [ he goes to sit next to her, his hands taking hers and intertwining] Cora and I talked about her leaving here.
Dawn: [ lets her fingers slip in between his, her thumb brushing against the back of his palm] How'd that go?
Derek: She told me she doesn't think of here as home because I don't. And I told her I don't think of here as home because you don't.
Dawn: [nods as she looks down their hands] I didn't realize you needed that from me. [which is her way of trying to fish out what he does need, because she wants to give it to him, more than anything]
Derek: Your sister and I got into a fight while you were gone about my family home. I kinda lost it on her.
Dawn: [she nods] She told us. If she hasn't apologized already, she's probably going to.
Derek: But I think she's right. [and it's really hard for him to say that] I think I'm still clinging so hard to the past, that I can't immerse myself in any future.
Dawn: So you want to move forward. That's good. [it really is and she's proud of him for it] What do you need me to do?
Derek: [he was afraid to ask because he didn't know what the answer was going to be, and he was scared. So he looked at their hand] I need to tear it down. [go with the other topic] But before I do that, I need to take up a few pieces of wood. I can get rid of the rest of it, but I'm not ready to let them go just yet.
Dawn: Okay. [she's sensing that he doesn't need her to do that specifically, but she figures he can start with the easy stuff and work up to the big stuff] Xander can probably work on that too while he's here.
Derek: But after that... I don't want to leave Beacon Hills. [he looked at her] This town is my home. I've spent too much of my life here, my family is here, and my pack is here. I'm tired of wandering.
Dawn: Okay. [there's no reason why she wouldn't be okay with that] You want here to be home.
Derek: I'll build you all the walls you want. Or even a whole new house on what's still my property. But I can't keep being dragged away when things get rough. If we're going to make this a home... I need you to make this a home too.
Dawn: Okay. [it's probably the easiest thing she's ever agreed to because she doesn't mind making Beacon Hills home if that's what he wants. And she can't help but be a little endeared to the fact that he led his pitch by saying he'd build her all the walls she wanted.] I took you away that time because you couldn't protect yourself, so I did. I didn't want you here, where all the bad guys know you live, being a sitting duck. But I've never had a problem with this being your home, Derek. Ever. And I have no problem making it mine.
Derek: [he licked his lips, and a small smile grew] I just know how much Berkley means to you, and Scotland, and the Slayers. I don't want you to think I'm taking you away from all that because of what I need.
Dawn: Scotland was never home. Ever. And yes, Berkeley is important but it's not like you're asking me to move across the country with you. And even if you did, I would probably go anyway. [her free hand comes up, brushing against his face lightly as she does] You're home. You're all the home I want. So if this is where you want to be then this is where I want to be too.
Derek: I know you have to finish up school and your job, and it's a crap commute but I don't mind going back and forth during the school year to spend time with you and Cora... and probably Stiles. Until you guys finish your degrees. And hopefully by then, this place will be home for all of us.
Dawn: [she nods] We'll work it out. Compared to some of the shit we've been through, figuring this out will be easy. Hardly the end of the world.
Derek: Thank you. [and he nuzzles her hand a bit] I'm sorry for being so distant lately.
Dawn: [she shakes her head, her fingers sliding through his hair softly] You've been through a lot. I worry, but I'm always going to worry.
Derek: I know. And I just... it hurt a lot. And I know I shut down but when bad things happen I always have someone to fall back on and this time... I didn't.
Dawn: I know. And I'm sorry. [she feels like she can't say it enough, really. She feels so responsible, and she doesn't know how to let that go because it was her fault, in an odd way.]
Derek: It's not your fault, Dawn. I shouldn't have taken you out of the loft for coffee and put you in danger being away from the group.
Dawn: He would have come for me anyway. Whether it was in the middle of the street or at the loft, you couldn't have just kept me hidden away from the world forever. [she inches closer, meeting his eyes] I'm just glad he didn't kill you in the process.
Derek: [it was a good thing she didn't know how bad it was] That pain was nothing compared to later.
Dawn: [yes, please never tell her that. Instead she's just going to tug him closer, curling into his side and letting her head rest against his shoulder] But we're all okay now. Relatively speaking.
Derek: [holds her close, closing his eyes and taking her scent in] Relatively.
Dawn: [she nods a bit] And we're getting better.
Derek: Cora thinks I need therapy. [sad little laugh]
Dawn: [there's a pause at that, before she looks up slowly] Do you want it? [because she loves you very dearly but she doesn't disagree]
Derek: [snorts and gives her a seriously? look]
Dawn: [holds up a hand] It can be helpful sometimes, to talk about things. And if this is something you want, I ... may know a guy. Who's in the know.
Derek: I have you back. And Cora. I'm fine. I just need some time, that's all. [he's so not fine]
Dawn: [yeah, she doubts that, but therapy doesn't really work unless you want it] Well, if you change your mind, I can call Lance. Just let me know.
Derek: [nods, no clue who 'Lance' is]
Dawn: [he hasn't met him, it's fine, he's just the guy she mentioned that's in the know. Also he's friends with her ex-boyfriend the thricewise. no big deal. After a moment, she pushes up and kisses him softly] I just want you to be okay. That's all.
Derek: [kisses her back, his hand holding her neck to keep her close] You're home. Cora's home. That alone helps me be okay more than you realize.
Dawn: Well, I'm planning to stay home for a very long time.
Derek: Good. I like this plan.
Dawn: I hoped you would. [she sighs as she resettles against him] And I kind of wish Sam wasn't here right now. [because she's missed him and wants couple-y alone time.]
Derek: And we're so not doing that in Cora's bedroom.
Dawn: [shakes her head] Hence the lamenting of the very large house guest.
Derek: We could send him to the diner to get food.
Dawn: [eyebrows climb a bit] Think he'll be gone long enough?
Derek: If he doesn't have a car, he has to walk. Diner's a good 30 minutes away. There and back, that's an hour.
Dawn: [she considers for a moment, before making a face] I kind of feel bad for making him walk for an hour just so we can have sex.
Derek: You don't think Dean has done it to him a hundred times over?
Dawn: Yeah, but it's Dean. They're siblings. If it were Buffy, I'd have already been making suggestive noises and she would be gone. But Sam's not sibling status makes it fall into guilt territory.
Derek: I could ask. Nicely, even.
Dawn: [she considers for a moment, before shaking her head] Nah. Bela's coming to pick him up tomorrow. We can wait. [waiting is less fun but doable and less guilt inducing]
Derek: I don't know if I can. I mean, I'm still a bit jealous about Fabio.
Dawn: [smirks a bit] Oh really?
Derek: Yeah, I mean, I've got great abs, but I've never been that big.
Dawn: Personally, I think you're perfectly sized. You have excellent proportions.
Derek: So I don't need to go to the gym and get pumped for you? [teasing grin]
Dawn: [she laughs] No. But I will not be opposed to random work out sessions every so often.
Derek: I'm still going to keep a training area here, so you're fine with that. Isaac still needs some work. [grins]
Dawn: [she laughs] Sounds perfect.
Derek: May get you to work on your abs a bit too. [pokes her stomach]
Dawn: [she wiggles a bit to get away from his finger] Hey, my abs are just fine.
Derek: Are you sure? I mean, long hours reading books and drinking coffee... [and yes, he's going to reach again]
Dawn: [if he's reaching and not poking she'll turn into his hands a bit, but if he's poking, she's going to twist away from him] Positive. I also train Slayers, in case you've forgotten.
Derek: [poking, going to tickle eventually] Oh, I know. But that doesn't mean we can't do workouts together too.
Dawn: [when he gets to the tickling there's a shriek of a laugh and she is going to try and push his hands away from her, but unlike Cora, she is the ineffectual human, and he's probably doing better with getting to her than Stiles did] Okay, fine, but don't hold - don't hold it against me if I get distracted in the middle.
Derek: I'm sure I won't mind. [nope, holding her down with one hand while tickling her with the other.]
Sam: [pulls out his earbuds and blinks. Then...nope. putting them back in and turning the music up]
Dawn: [you are the worst boyfriend. She regrets everything. She keeps trying to wriggle away from him until eventually she has to go] No - stop, stop I can't breathe.
Derek: [he stops, then hovers over her lips with his] Then I guess I need to give CPR. [yup, kisses]
Dawn: [hums softly into the kiss, hands moving from defensive positions on his wrists to his shoulders as she tries to keep him close]
Derek: [And he's going to slowly slide them back, pulling Dawn off the bed and onto the floor. Because they shouldn't make out on his sister's bed. that would be wrong]
Dawn: [yes, floor is probably better. she will go where led, waiting for them to settle before leaning in and deepening the kiss]
Derek: [he rolls them to their side so neither one is on top, and his hands pull her closer so that he could kiss her and feel her pressed up against him]
Dawn: [sighs as she's pulled into him, her hand wandering to his side letting them trail lightly against his skin]
Derek: [his hands trail along her ribs and back, taking their time and just feeling her under his hands again. Touching her as if learning her all over again because he had thought she was gone forever]
Dawn: [she's just sinking into the feeling of being close to him again. Him being distant has been hard, not that she puts sex as a high priority, but this helps her feel connected to him again. And know they're on the same page.]
Derek: [for him, he was forcing himself to push aside his fears. He had kept the distance so he wouldn't get hurt when she left again. It was a survival instinct he told himself. But he didn't want her to leave him - ever. So this reconnection of them physically what just one more step to getting back on the right path with his life and with Dawn. His kisses may be a bit more desperate than normal, but he's needy and wants the security to know that they won't lose each other again like that. At least voluntarily.]
Dawn: [nope. She's not going anywhere and she responds in kind. her hands move over his shoulders, then down towards the bottom of his shirt, brushing against the skin at the small of his back]
Derek: [takes a deep breath, then pulls back to take his shirt off for her]
Dawn: [there's a slight pout at him pulling back, but then he's shirtless and everything is better. She stays pulled back for a moment, her hands trailing up over his abs before she looks up with a smirk] Yep. Still my favorite abs.
Derek: [laughs] Good to know. [his hands go to her shirt now]
Dawn: [she shifts a bit to help him get it off over her head, one hand wandering back behind her to unhook her bra]
Derek: [lips going to her neck, kissing along it as he waits patiently for those two handfuls of flesh to be released before he goes to cup one, fondling it firmly]
Dawn: [she arches up into his hands, sighing softly at the feel of his hands and sliding her fingers through his hair and then down his back]
Derek: [his kisses go along her shoulders, then he slides down to engulf a nipple between his lips]
Dawn: [she moans softly at the feel of his lips against her skin, her finger curling a bit so that her nails drag]
Derek: [teeth pull on the nipple as he groans at her scratches. Then he's up and kissing her lips, needy and hard]
Dawn: [she moans into the kiss, meeting his neediness as her nails continue to drag against his skin]
Derek: [breaks and pants in her ear] Cora is going to hate me [as he goes for her pants]
Dawn: [shifts her hips a bit so he can get them off her as she goes for his belt] She probably won't be back for a while. We can air the room out.
Derek: Sounds like a plan [and he's already hard and ready, and his hand slipped between her legs to tease her a bit and get her ready as well]
Dawn: [she moans in lieu of an answer to his question, her hand slipping around him. Her hips push up into his hands, and she shifts one leg over his hip to pull him in closer]
Derek: [he could feel her already wet and ready, and his hands went to her hips. He groaned as she rubbed him, but he wanted to be in her. It had been weeks and the urge to make love to her was clouding any good judgment he had on where they were or who was downstairs]
Dawn: [isn't exactly exercising good judgment either, and she's already guiding him into her, shifting her hips so that they can stay side-by-side]
Derek: [ groans, pulling her up nice and close against him, his hands grabbing her ass so that he can use it as leverage to thrust up into her]
Dawn: [she tilts her hips to meet his, rocking against him to get that little bit of extra friction as she leans in to kiss him hard]
Derek: [it's not going to be the sweetest, specialest, or longest time between them, but he throws every ounce of himself into her as he all but claims her in the most intimate of ways]
Dawn: [it doesn't have to be, really. It just has to be him, and she's willing to let him do whatever he needs to. She's already his anyway. It's not long before she's tensing around him and lets herself fall over the edge]
Derek: [he follows her, orgasming deep inside of her, clinging to her in the moment, and after]
Dawn: [she hums softly as she relaxes against him, brushing kisses against his shoulder as they both come down]
Derek: [panting] God, I love you.
Dawn: [smiles softly at that, tipping her head to the side as she stays close] I love you too.
Derek: [thinks] We should have sent Sam to the diner.
Dawn: [she laughs] Probably. But he has an iPod, he probably turned it up really high.
Derek: He's going to blame us if he goes deaf.
Dawn: I will accept that blame with no regrets.
Derek: Same here [nuzzles her neck]
