potus } { of revealed secrets and future planning

Derek: [and it's a new morning, and he's already awake, having done his morning workout in the living room to not wake Allison, and grabbed a shower]

Allison: [and she is more fond of lazy mornings, getting up, making some coffee, turning on the tv for the news and ... oh no] Derek!

Derek: [is drying his hair, towel around his waist, as he ducks his head around the corner] What's wrong?

TV: [Allison turns it up as he gets closer] Questions are flying this morning after the first daughter got caught in a steamy position with a mystery man outside of family friend Kol Mikaelson's club ...

Derek: [and he will come in to look at the screen, shaking his head] Well, I guess their secret is out.

Allison: Yep. [glances to him] You should call her.

Derek: [pats his waist and then nods] I should find my pants. [his phone is in there]

Allison: [nods] I'll get you some coffee.

Derek: [and he will head into the bedroom to find his phone, and then dial his sister as he walks back into the kitchen with his pants on]

Cora: [it takes a couple rings, but eventually she picks up. Probably while Thomas has borrowed Stiles for a walk] Hey.

Derek: Hi, Allison just turned on the news. Are you and Stiles ok?

Cora: Yeah, Peter shipped us off to the White House as soon as the news broke.

Derek: [breathes a sigh of relief] Good, you're safe then.

Cora: Yeah. But I can't hide here forever.

Derek: Of course not. Do you want me to come in and see what I can do to help?

Cora: No. [a beat] Maybe. [she kind of wants a hug] Freya's handling it.

Derek: [leans against the kitchen counter, picking up a cup of coffee and kissing Allison on the cheek] Yeah, but Freya isn't your big brother.

Cora: Yeah, but ... I don't .... I'm okay. [she doesn't want to make it seem like she needs her big siblings to swoop in and protect her. She'll be fine. She has to be] Really.

Derek: Alright, but if you need me, just call me. Allison and I have the day off so we can come in and distract you guys while Freya works her magic.

Cora: I'll let you know. But you don't have to worry about me.

Derek: Too late. [said lovingly] But I also worry about Laura. Usually more than I worry about you.

Cora: Laura is usually very safe.

Derek: A bit too safe sometimes. [smirking]

Cora: Is there such a thing?

Derek: I'm honestly not sure I ever want to know that answer.

Cora: But you don't have to worry about me more now. I'll be okay. Stiles is here with me, and if he survives Dad, we'll be fine.

Derek: Did you warn him not to talk to Dad about his time in the war?

Cora: I didn't get a chance, so I'm just hoping for the best.

Derek: If it makes you feel any better, the press will find a new toy to play with in a few days. Same thing happened with me and Allison.

Cora: Yeah, I know. It's just the waiting part that sucks.

Derek: Yeah, it does. But it also gives you a lot of alone time hiding indoors with him.

Cora: In the White House. With my parents and the secret service and all of their staff.

Derek: Yes, and secret passages that no one monitors.

Cora: [a beat, then ...] I don't even want to know.

Derek: [laughs] Probably better that way.

Cora: Probably. Anyway, I should let you go enjoy your day off.

Derek: Thanks. Call me if you need me, and enjoy the day with the folks.

Cora: I'll do my best. Have fun with Allison.

Derek: Will do. Love you, kiddo.

Cora: Love you too.

Derek: [and he will hang up and toss the phone onto the counter]

Allison: [comes up next to him with a small smile] She okay?

Derek: Yeah, she's safe at the Big House. She's just not one that likes having all that kind of attention focused on her.

Allison: I don't blame her. It sucks the way the media can pick us apart. Women especially.

Derek: Yeah. But the good thing is that they move on in a few days when the news is stale.

Allison: They will. If they keep their heads down they'll be fine.

Derek: Maybe you can give Stiles a few pointers on dealing with them.

Allison: Maybe. Also if you want to go over there and check on her in person, I'd be okay with that.

Derek: No, she said she will be fine, and I'm going to respect her decision. If she needs me, she'll call me.

Allison: Okay. Are you going to need me to distract you so you're not worrying about her?

Derek: [looks directly at her, smiling] Maybe. What do you have in mind?

Allison: [she shrugs] We don't actually have to go anywhere today.

Derek: But I've already put pants on...

Allison: [laughs] I didn't realize that would be a dealbreaker for you.

Derek: It doesn't have to be. I just hate to waste the effort of having put them on.

Allison: I see. [she is very amused by your ridiculousness, Derek] Compromise. If we go out for brunch and then come back to have a no pants party, will that be an adequate amount of effort for you and your pants.

Derek: [thinks a moment, all serious] I think that would be more than adequate enough.

Allison: Okay. I will go put actual clothes on. And you need a shirt.

Derek: Yes, that and shoes.

Allison: [leans in to kiss him] Give me ten minutes.

Derek: Take fifteen. [kisses her back]

Allison: [nods and off she goes to get dressed and be people presentable]

Derek: [and he will get a shirt and off they go to brunch once they are people ready]

Allison: [and they'll settle in in a back booth at the diner for some piles of pancakes] So what are you up to this weekend? Any white house stuff?

Derek: Well, my mother wanted to talk to me about some ideas she had on job leads.

Allison: Oh really? Anything interesting?

Derek: I think ideas for reception halls and how many guests that she thinks will need to come from the White House.

Allison: So it's wedding talk disguised as job talk.

Derek: She's my mother, of course. Reception halls are jobs, and guests are possible employers.

Allison: How many possible employers are we looking at, by the way?

Derek: I don't even want to know. Between your grandfather and my mother, I think we're going to have a lot of potential employers at the wedding for both sides.

Allison: We should have a really big job, then, so they can all stay in their corners.

Derek: And I think we need to work on a very big gift resume registration.

Allison: What if we have them donate to charity? I mean, it's not like we can't afford our own home furnishings, or our own honeymoon. We pick a couple organizations that do good work and just have them spread the wealth around.

Derek: You know, I like that.

Allison: Good. Though just so you know, no matter what we do, my dad is still probably going to buy us a house.

Derek: Do we get to at least choose it?

Allison: He will float suggestions buy me and he may let us pick like ... a top five or something, but he'll want to surprise us.

Derek: Well, perhaps we should let my mother pay for the honeymoon so things remain even.

Allison: I find that acceptable.

Derek: When we figure out what we want, we can always talk loudly around the Mikaelsons, which will get to Freya, then to Peter and finally to my mom so they can surprise us as well.

Allison: [she laughs] Fair enough.

Derek: So, what kind of ideas do you have for it anyway?

Allison: [she gives a small shrug] Somewhere quiet and remote, mostly.

Derek: So not a cruise.

Allison: Too many people in too small a space. Though a yacht wouldn't be out of the question.

Derek: I think there are resorts that you get individual cabins over the water, and can choose to do small group activities if you want.

Allison: That sounds perfect. Privacy, but also people around if we start getting really sick of each other.

Derek: And we can go do tours and things when we need to get out but don't want to be with people

Allison: I love it.

Derek: I'll look and see what options there are then.

Allison: Good. And I will start vetting some houses. Do you have a neighborhood you'd prefer?

Derek: Maybe something midway between our jobs and near a metro line?

Allison: [she nods] I'm sure there are a few nice brownstones in those areas.

Derek: Something with a yard so we can have friends over and cook outside.

Allison: And near some good schools.

Derek: Maybe a cafe or something within walking distance.

Allison: And a park.

Derek: Fence to get a dog.

Allison: So something very normal and domestic.

Derek: We're going to become that all American couple, aren't we?

Allison: Nothing wrong with that.

Derek: No, nothing at all.

Allison: It'll be really nice.

Derek: I'm just really excited to see what the future brings.

Allison: Me too. I think it's going to be a bright one.

Derek: And in a few years when mom is out of office, hopefully we can live in peace too.

Allison: Fingers crossed. [and as she finishes off her pancakes, she looks up at him] So. Are you good to head back for our party?

Derek: I think I am. Do we need to grab anything at the pharmacy on the way?

Allison: [shakes her head] Nope. We're good to go.

Derek: Alright. [and he will leave the bill in cash with a good tip, and then take her hand so they can walk back home]

Allison: [and she will squeeze him in return, before pulling him in for a kiss once they're inside]

Derek: [and he will kiss her back, cupping her cheeks with his hands]

Allison: [and she hums as she leans into him, her hands coming up to rest against his sides]

Derek: [and he is going to guide her to walk towards the bedroom as they are kissing and caressing each other]

Allison: [as they step past the doorway she slips her hands down under the hem of his shirt, breaking the kiss to pull it up over his head. The hem of her sundress is swirling around her legs as she stops when her knees hit the edge of the bed]

Derek: [his fingers will go to help inch that dress up so that he can grab it and pull it over her head, breaking the kiss so they can both remove the other's clothing]

Allison: [and once that's done she will push up onto her knees on the bed, slipping her fingers into his belt loops to pull him closer]

Derek: [grins and steps closer, running his fingers through her hair] Hey.

Allison: [she grins in return, before leaning in to kiss him] Hi.

Derek: I love you.

Allison: I love you too.

Derek: [and he will lean in to kiss her as his hands get to work on the back of her bra]

Allison: [she does the same, moving her hands down towards the fly of his pants again to get them off his hips because this is a no pants party]

Derek: [He is very grateful for that, and will step out of them once they drop to his feet, kicking them off somewhere in the room]

Allison: [and her bra follows soon after, and she's tipping back onto the bed, pulling him with her]

Derek: [and he's going to try and go smoothly but he fumbles and crashes down onto the bed beside her, and then he's laughing into the mattress]

Allison: [which makes her laugh as well, her head falling back against the bed]

Derek: [he turns to face her] I lost my balance.

Allison: I'll try not to hold it against you.

Derek: [and he will reach out to pull her closer] I'd rather hold you against me.

Allison: Well, that I think I can allow.

Derek: Then get over here already.

Allison: [she smirks before inching her way over, rolling him over and straddling his hips] Better?

Derek: [grins, his hands going to her hips] Much better.

Allison: Good. [and she leans in to kiss him deeply]
