regency au } { of family outings and unruly toddlers
Stiles: [is was a nice fall afternoon, and Stiles had thought it would be a good day to go down to the markets and see what some of the traveling vendors had brought into town this week. A little trip for the whole family. So while Cora was getting Claudia dressed, Stiles was struggling with the toddler to put on his coat] Benjamin, do not make me ask you again.
Cora: [through the open door] Ben, do as your father says.
Ben: But I'm hooooot.
Stiles: You won't be once we get outside.
Cora: Walk him to the door to show him. We'll meet you there.
Stiles: [sighs, and then pulls himself up and grabs both of their jackets] We will be in the courtyard waiting. [and downstairs they went and at the door Ben laughed and took off after a dog running around, not feeling the temperature dropping as Stiles did.]
Cora: [yes, but it's another ten minutes before his mother appears with his bundled up sister in tow, and that might be enough for the cold to have set in]
Stiles: Ben, come on we're going!
Ben: [runs back, a bit dusty and with chittering teeth] See, not cold!
Stiles: [looks at Cora in amusement]
Cora: [sighs] You're turning into a blueberry.
Ben: I like blueberries.
Cora: Yes, but you're not a blueberry. People are not supposed to be blue.
Stiles: [kneels down and pull Ben closer, and he will squirm as Stiles finally gets the boy's coat on] There. Better?
Ben: I don't like it. [pouts]
Cora: I don't think you like getting sick either.
Ben: But I won't get sick. [Stilinski grin]
Cora: How do you know?
Ben: I just know.
Cora: Mmm. Well forgive me if I don't trust your instincts on the subject.
Ben: [huffs]
Stiles: [takes Ben's hand] Come on, son. Let's go to the market before we miss anything.
Cora: [follows with Claudia in her arms, giving Ben's shoulder a small squeeze as she does] Will you wear it for me? To make me feel better?
Ben: [looks up at her, and that is a CRUEL TRICK MOM] Yes, mama.
Cora: [IT'S TRUE THOUGH] Thank you, love.
Ben: [and he will stop complaining about the coat, but will wiggle free from Stiles' hand to explore the path and look for sticks and rocks]
Stiles: [moving beside Cora, smiling] He is going to be a handful.
Cora: I knew that already.
Stiles: At least you know how to manage us both. [since father and son were completely alike in many ways]
Cora: That is true.
Stiles: [smiles and leans in to kiss her] I love you.
Cora: [smiles softly] I love you too.
Stiles: Is there anything you need in the market?
Cora: [shakes her head] Not that I can think of, though I'll probably see something.
Stiles: Perhaps we can find some new toys for the children as well.
