new york wolves } { of bumps in the road and cheering up wives
Cora: [Stiles would have noticed when their most recent attempt at trying to make a child failed, not just from her biological responses but also the fact that her mood drops slightly in response. She's frustrated, not just with the situation but with herself, and while she tries to keep it from her husband, it's hard to do when you're literally bonded together. she does come home later than usual from work one night, closing the door to the apartment and giving him a small smile when she sees him] Hi.
Stiles: Hi. [he knew she was feeling down, so he picked up her favorite dinner. It might be a bit cold now, but that's what the warmer function on the oven is for. He was tempted to get her a puppy, but he saves that for when he is desperate and in the dog house, so instead there is a plushie puppy with a flower in his mouth on the kitchen table]
Cora: [she smiles when she sees it, before making her way closer] What's this for?
Stiles: An attempt to cheer my wife up. Is it working?
Cora: [she nods before leaning in to kiss him] Definitely. Thank you.
Stiles: [kisses her back, smiling against her lips] You're welcome.
Cora: Sorry I'm late.
Stiles: That's ok. I'm late all the time.
Cora: But we can eat now? [she smiles] I can help heat stuff up.
Stiles: I have a pizza in the oven. I think I set it to keep it warm. [he totally didn't. it's cold]
Cora: [nods as she goes to check on it and ... turns on the warmer] Let's give it ten minutes. You can tell me about work.
Stiles: It was just another day. Hacking computers, tracing digital footprints. Saving the world one gigabyte at a time.
Cora: My hero.
Stiles: How about you? Anything interesting happen?
Cora: [she pauses for a moment because she knows she has to talk to him about it eventually, but it still feels like a complicated knot to unravel] I went to talk to Marcus.
Stiles: Oh, is everything ok?
Cora: I don't know. [she gives a small shrug] It's been a year and things aren't ... happening the way they should.
Stiles: [and he will go sit on a kitchen stool] What things? [clueless at the topic here]
Cora: Us ... trying to have a baby things?
Stiles: Oh. [and he licks his lips]
Cora: I don't know. Given that we're both werewolves I felt like ... something should have happened by now. It's not as though we're anywhere near celibate.
Stiles: No, we're anything but.
Cora: So ... I felt it was worth asking.
Stiles: What did he say?
Cora: He said that he can't say anything for sure until he's examined both of us, and there's a chance that it could just be bad luck and it might help if we paid attention to my cycle more.
Stiles: Well, there are things that we can get to tell us when you're ovulating.
Cora: I know. I just ... I don't want this to feel like a chore, you know?
Stiles: Well, we could just have sex twice a day and not worry about a schedule. [smirks]
Cora: [she laughs] Do we have enough time to do that?
Stiles: Oh, I'll make time. [grins]
Cora: I'm sure you will. [she shakes her head] I just don't want this to feel like something we have to do versus something we want to do.
Stiles: [deadpan] Oh Cora, I really just can't stand having all this sex.
Cora: I'm serious.
Stiles: I know. But Cora, honey. I'm horny all the time. I've been in a constant state of horniness since I became a wolf. And having a sexy wife doesn't help any.
Cora: So me just being like "hey I'm ovulating" is going to be a turn on for you?
Stiles: If you say it naked, totally.
Cora: Well, unfortunately it doesn't really work the same way for me.
Stiles: Well, let's try it this way. [and he will strip out of his shirt and put himself in a sexy pose] Hey girl, I heard you're ovulating. [and he will flex, trying so hard to do the blue steel face and not break out laughing]
Cora: [she does laugh though, because it's ridiculous, before shaking her head] Sorry. Not really working.
Stiles: [and he will laugh when she does] I guess I'll work on my seduction techniques.
Cora: [she sighs as she slides her arms around his neck] Does it bother you that it hasn't happened yet?
Stiles: No. [and he will lean in to kiss her nose] It will happen when it's meant to happen.
Cora: [smiles before leaning up to kiss him softly] And if it doesn't?
Stiles: We can start a dog rescue from the amount of puppies I will get you to cheer you up.
Cora: [snorts] We're going to need a bigger place if that's going to be your approach.
Stiles: If that's what we have to do.
Cora: Okay. [deep breath] I'm sorry if I've been a bit of a downer. [mostly because he feels everything she feels]
Stiles: We all have our moments. I'm just glad it's not something I did.
Cora: [shakes her head] Just me being frustrated with things I can't control.
Stiles: [and he will just hold her close] Well, I am willing to do whatever Marcus needs to help us figure it out.
Cora: I appreciate that. I still haven't decided anything, but if you're okay with just letting things happen where they happen then maybe it's worth waiting for a little while longer.
Stiles: Hey, we're in this together, sink or swim. I'm good if you're good.
Cora: Right now, I think I'm okay. Check with me again in six months.
Stiles: We still going to do all the sex? Because I was really starting to get excited about that.
Cora: [she laughs] Don't worry. There will still be a lot of sex. In fact, were I not so hungry, I would totally be taking advantage of the fact that you're shirtless right now.
Stiles: Well, then let's eat. I'll stay shirtless just for you.
Cora: Best husband. [and she leans in to kiss him before pulling back to get the pizza]
Stiles: [grins into the kiss] I try.
Cora: [and they will eat some pizza and cat about their day, and eventually Cora will get very distracted by her shirtless husband and divert her attention away from food]
