canon au } { post-6b, of surprise sisters and making up for lost time

Olivia: [it's in the very wee hours of the morning and Stiles probably hasn't been home or asleep for very long but unfortunately such is the life of an FBI agent because his phone is ringing. Ring ring ring ring Stiles phone]

Stiles: [and he is going to groan and slap at the nightstand without opening his eyes to make the beeping stop]

Cora: [also grumbles because werewolf] Make it stop.

Stiles: Sorry. [and he will finally push himself up and grab it, answering the phone] Stilinski.

Olivia: Are you alone? [because she knows about werewolf hearing and doesn't want Cora accidentally hearing things she's not supposed to hear]

Stiles: No.

Cora: [there's a whine behind the bedroom door because guess who realized mom and dad are awake and she sighs before getting to her feet] I'll take care of the dog.

Stiles: [and he will mouth the words 'I'm sorry' to her, and waits until she is gone before sighing, rubbing at his eyes] Alright, she's gone, Liv. What's so important that you had to wake me up?

Olivia: I know, I'm sorry it's so late, but it's an emergency. I need you to come to the gateway. Agent Martin is coming and she requested you personally.

Stiles: And she couldn't wait five more hours?

Olivia: Apparently it couldn't. She was reluctant to give details until she arrived.

Stiles: [sighs] I can be there in an hour. Just have strong coffee ready.

Olivia: I'll see you there. [and with that she will hang up and go to get ready herself, and get that coffee]

Stiles: [and he will pull himself into whatever clothes he can grab, which is so not his work suit and totally this shirt and jeans]

Cora: [and as he's getting dressed, his fiancée will return] Have to go to work?

Stiles: Sadly, yes.

Cora: [she frowns] Makes sure she lets you take a nap or something later.

Stiles: I'll try. [leans in to kiss her] I'll call when I know what the timeframe of this job is.

Cora: [she nods as she kisses him back] Be safe.

Stiles: Always. [bends down to pet the dogs] Keep mommy company while daddy is at work.

Cora: [they just have the one dog in this verse, just Rocky, and he will take that invitation to run over and claim the spot on Stiles' side of the bed] I'm sure he will do very well.

Stiles: Love you. [and he will grab a soda from the fridge and head out the door]

Cora: Love you too. [and off she will go to curl up with the dog and go back to sleep]

Olivia: [and when Stiles arrives she's there waiting with an extra cup of coffee for him] Sorry again.

Stiles: [takes the coffee] One day I'm going to be so exhausted that I will throw the phone against the wall instead of answering it.

Olivia: Hopefully we won't be here long. It'll just depend on what she wants or needs. [and she'll start leading the way inside to the room where the gate between the two worlds is located. Astrid had come in ahead of them, and as they enter Lydia and her team (that possibly includes Earth-2!Parrish if you want) is stepping through the gate, looking ever the professional in her short red bob and business wear]

Lydia: I know it's late, but we couldn't afford to wait.

Stiles: [Parrish will probably just stand at the doorway and judge, arms crossed and looking judgy. Stiles will just nod at him and look at Lydia] So, what's the emergency?

Lydia: Rosalie was kidnapped.

Stiles: [and now he's awake] WHAT?

Lydia: A conglomerate I was pursuing was trying to gain leverage against me. Since she's the closest thing I really have to family, they thought taking her would get me to do what they wanted. We were in the process of getting her back and we had managed to track their location, before they just ... blew a hole in the universe and dropped through. Unfortunately, we had to quarantine the area before we could gather any data about where they were going, but we did manage to gather than they're somewhere here, in this universe. That's why I need your help.

Stiles: Yeah, anything. [it's his evil twin's sister. He's totally there for her]

Lydia: [and there's a grateful look at that before Lydia nods] Thank you. I hope you might have some technology that can track breeches on your side?

Astrid: Walter's been working on some things, but we aren't as advanced in things as your side is. But hopefully it will help us narrow things down.

Olivia: Why don't we head back to the lab? I believe these things are within your expertise, Agent Martin, so perhaps you'll be able to help us improve in that area.

Lydia: I'll do anything I can. We just need to find her.

Stiles: We'll find her. [he is confident. Because he's Stiles and he fakes confidence when he needs to]

Olivia: [and off they will go to the lab!]

Rosalie: [meanwhile, just outside Beacon Hills, there's a teenage girl running through the very far outskirts of the preserve as fast as she can possibly throw herself. She doesn't realize where she is at first, mostly just trying to get away as fast as she can. Her hands are bound in front of her and she can hear the footsteps of the guy who had grabbed her not far behind. She's ahead of him, but the problem is, she's not used to bouncing between universes, especially not in such a haphazard manner. She's dizzy and her vision is swimming, but she knows she has to keep moving as best she can. As she gets closer to the road, she glances off one of the nearby trees and stumbles out into the highway behind her, belatedly realizing that those are headlights coming towards her, and bringing her hands up to cover her eyes, not sure what else to do]

Sheriff: [and that would be the sheriff's patrol car skidding to a stop, the seat belt locking to keep him from hitting the dashboard. Once he is stopped, he will get out of the car with his flashlight, aiming it at the girl who appeared out of nowhere] Are you okay, miss?

Rosalie: [she definitely doesn't look okay. she's having a hard time staying steady on her feet, her steps stuttering against the pavement as she tries to get closer to him, even with the flashlight in her eyes. It's only once she gets close enough and her eyes adjust to the light that the fear and adrenaline fades to something like shock, and all she manages is a brief confused:] Daddy? [before her legs give out like jelly and she passes out hard]

Sheriff: [and he is confused, but is going to call for an ambulance. He will then grab his jacket and bring it over to her, using it as a blanket over her since they are in the preserve in the middle of the night]

Rosalie: [and she will be out for a while, long enough that she may rouse briefly as they're getting her into the ambulance but passes out again as the car begins to move. she doesn't have any identification on her, but her hands are bound in front of her with a zip tie - cut when the ambulance arrives to work on her - and she also has the scratches and bruises of someone who's spent a lot of time being manhandled recently. When she does wake up for good, she has a headache, but she's feeling conscious enough to be able to sit up and look around]

Sheriff: [and he will be in the hallway talking to the deputies, waiting for her to wake up to make a statement]

Rosalie: [she's looking around, taking in the very different hospital equipment from what she has on her Earth, and since she doesn't know what anything does, she's going to pull at one of the wires attached to her and panic as the machines around her start to panic as they suddenly think she's flatlining]

Sheriff: [and he will look in the room at that and see her pulling at the wires. He will move into the room] Hey, relax. You're safe here.

Rosalie: [oh wow. oh wow that's really her dad. but he's alive. he's alive, and there's a few more moments of internal panicking before she remembers that Stiles mentioned their father being alive on his Earth. maybe that's where she is right now] Sorry. My ... the hospital where I'm from doesn't have stuff like this.

Sheriff: Well, we do try to make sure we have the technology in town to keep people alive. [there's a smile] How are you feeling?

Rosalie: Kinda hungover. [she does not look old enough to legally drink, but she's at least over eighteen] Where am I?

Sheriff: Beacon Hills Memorial. I'm Sheriff Stilinski. And you are...?

Rosalie: Rosalie. [oh shit she needs a last name shit shit shit shit] ... Martin. Rosaline Martin. [and then, after a breath] Do you have a son named Stiles?

Sheriff: I do, but do I want to know how you know him?

Rosalie: I'm not sure you would believe me if I told you.

Sheriff: Knowing my son, that's a big ocean to cross.

Rosalie: Do you think you could call him for me?

Sheriff: Sure, but first why don't you tell me how you know him, why you were in the preserve after hours, and how you got your injuries.

Rosalie: [oh good, all the things she doesn't know how to talk about] I hit him with a baseball bat once and I was kidnapped? I managed to get away from him, but I don't remember getting to the preserve in the first place. [mostly because she was traveling from another universe. there's a pause] Him not being Stiles, him being the guy who kidnapped me.

Sheriff: [needs to put these facts in the right order] It wasn't Stiles that hit you and kidnapped you, correct?

Rosalie: No, I hit Stiles with the baseball bat, that's how I know him. Me getting kidnapped was a totally separate incident that Stiles was not involved in.

Sheriff: Alright. Do you know who kidnapped you and why?

Rosalie: [shakes her head] No idea. [And that's true, because he's been smart about not really engaging with her or giving her information] Trust me, I tried to figure it out.

Sheriff: Where were you when this happened?

Rosalie: Colorado?

Sheriff: That's a bit of a distance.

Rosalie: You're telling me. [also you have no idea]

Sheriff: You didn't have any id or a phone on you. You still want to talk to Stiles?

Rosalie: [she nods eagerly because she doesn't know what to do and if this Stiles is the Stiles she hit on the head with a baseball bat then he will know what to tell her]

Sheriff: [and he will pull out his phone and dial his son's number] He's in Boston at the moment, but hopefully he'll hear the phone and wake up.

Rosalie: [nods and will just curl up on the bed more, not really trusting herself to say much else that wouldn't give away the game, and for now she's just going to ... watch him, as though she doesn't know how long she'll have the opportunity]

Stiles: [and across the country, his cell phone will buzz and he will see his father's name appear.] Give me a second, guys. [and he will step away and answer it] Dad? What's going on?

Sheriff: Hey kid. You're up late.

Stiles: Working on a case so I'm a bit busy.

Sheriff: Same here. Do you know a Rosaline Martin?

Stiles: [blinks and looks at Olivia and Lydia] Yeah, I know a Rosaline Martin. Why?

Lydia: [sits up immediately and starts to make her way closer so she can listen]

Rosalie: [just ... going to listen to the sheriff's half of the conversation nervously]

Sheriff: Seems she ran into a bit of trouble and ended up in town. She's here at the hospital and wanted to talk to you.

Stiles: Yeah, okay. Put her on.

Sheriff: [holds out the phone to her] Here you go.

Rosalie: [takes the phone, and it's a little awkward because it's not what she's used to, but she figures it out] Stiles?

Stiles: Rosalie. Thank God. Are you okay?

Rosalie: Yeah, mostly. I don't know how I got here.

Stiles: Well, Lyd- your sister is here and worried about you.

Rosalie: Well, tell her she is free to come get me. [there's a long pause] Stiles, what do I ... [say to the Sheriff]

Stiles: That may be difficult since she has a twin that lives out around there. [shrugs at Lydia, because it is true] Tell him that you're a friend I made while I was soul searching. Be vague, we're good at that. How bad are you?

Rosalie: I already told him I hit you with a baseball bat, so I'm sure that will go over well. [a deep breath] Not too bad? I was unconscious for a while but I'm better now.

Lydia: Traveling between worlds can have side effects, but mostly harmless ones.

Stiles: Alright. Well, let me work with everyone to figure out how to get you home. You good to stay there for a day or two?

Rosalie: Yeah, I guess? As long as they don't kick me out of the hospital.

Stiles: [thinks] I have an idea. Give the phone to my dad a minute.

Rosalie: [passes it back to the sheriff] He wants to talk to you.

Sheriff: [takes the phone] Yeah, kid?

Stiles: Hey, so listen, I'm going to pull some strings and see if I can get a bead on what's going on with Rosaline. Do you think she could stay with you for a day or two, just until I know if it's safe for her to go home?

Sheriff: I can't just take a few days off to watch her, you know.

Stiles: She's a victim of a kidnapping, Dad. You're the Sheriff. It's your job to protect her, isn't it?

Rosalie: [and that ... stings for absolutely no reason at all, even though it's not the sheriff's fault, and she just curls in on herself a little more]

Sheriff: [sorry Rosaline, he doesn't know] That doesn't mean...

Stiles: Dad, do it for me. She's a friend I met while I was trying to figure things out. She's like a sister to me. Please.

Sheriff: [closes his eyes, then nods] Alright, if she means that much to you, I'll make sure she's safe.

Rosalie: Thank you. I don't mean to put you out.

Sheriff: Oh trust me, you're not putting me out at all. Just adding to the number of women against me in my house. [chuckles]

Rosalie: [her eyebrows go up at that, but she says nothing]

Stiles: Let me speak with Rosa again?

Sheriff: Sure. [holds out the phone] Here.

Rosalie: [takes the phone from him] Hey.

Stiles: Hey. Listen, just stay with Dad, or Jodie. That's his wife, my stepmom. She'll mom you to death, but she's good people.

Rosalie: Okay. How soon will it take you to get here?

Stiles: Let me see what I can make happen. Shouldn't be long though.

Rosalie: Okay. Just keep me in the loop.

Stiles: Will do. And you need me, just call me on this number. It's my cell and I always have it on me.

Rosalie: Okay. I don't have a phone though.

Stiles: There's one in the house. Dad always keeps a landline.

Rosalie: You guys still have landlines?

Stiles: When the aliens take out the satellites and towers, there will still be landlines to communicate the resistance plans.

Rosalie: You still think it's going to be aliens. That's so cute.

Stiles: [laughs] Shut up. I'll call the house in the morning to check on you. Oh, and if Claire is there and suggests you go hunting with her, run far away because she wants to use you as bait.

Rosalie: What is she hunting for exactly?

Stiles: You don't want to know.

Rosalie: Duly noted.

Stiles: Just stay safe, alright?

Rosalie: I'll do my best.

Stiles: Wanna talk to your sister before we go?

Rosalie: No, just let her know I'm okay? I'm not sure we could have a conversation without ... you know.

Stiles: Yeah. I will. I'll call and check in with you later.

Rosalie: Okay. [and she'll hand the phone back to the sheriff]

Sheriff: Stiles?

Stiles: Let me talk to my boss and I'll give you a call later, ok Dad?

Sheriff: Yeah, ok. Talk to you soon.

Rosalie: [and she'll watch the sheriff for a moment, before pulling her knees into her chest] So ... how much longer do I have to be here?

Sheriff: If the doctor says you're okay to go, we can leave anytime.

Rosalie: Okay. Sounds good.

Sheriff: [and he will go find Liam's dad who will give the okay as long as she comes back for a follow-up in a few days, or come back if she feels dizzy or in pain.]

Rosalie: [and she will get her clothes back and be dressed and ready to go ... back to her childhood home which is disorienting all it's own. What the sheriff probably mistakes for the wide-eyed fear of a girl who is somewhere she doesn't know is actually the shock of how little something can change, and how many memories come flooding back the second she walks in the door]

Sheriff: [which he will, because he is totally left out of the loop here. So instead he just calls out for his wife] Jody, you home?

Jody: Kitchen!

Sheriff: [and he will guide Rosalie through the house] I brought home another stray for you, via Stiles.

Jodie: [turns and offers her a smile] I think we're developing a reputation. Hi, sweetie. I'm Jodie.

Rosalie: [half expected her mother to be standing at the stove, and that comes like a slap in the face, even though she knows it's coming, and she just swallows and nods] Rosalie.

Sheriff: You moved here with the reputation. I can't help but continue to foster it.

Jody: Well I appreciate you putting up with it. [and she leans in for a kiss]

Sheriff: [kisses her back] Are any of the others around?

Jody: No, just us for now, though Patience should be home from class soon.

Sheriff: Okay. Well, Rosalie, I don't think Stiles will mind you crashing in his room. Jodie can maybe help you find something to change into and if you want to take a shower...? [he's still learning how to handle teenage girls]

Rosalie: Yeah, that would be great.

Jody: [nods before nudging her husband to take the spoon] You stir the sauce.

Sheriff: Yes, dear.

Jody: [and she will go get Rosalie settled and once she's in the shower, she'll return to the stove] Anything else I should know?

Sheriff: Well, she's a victim of a kidnapping, but there's no missing persons report on anyone fitting her description. Stiles said he met her while he was off finding himself, so why is she here, and found bruised with her arms ziptied?

Jody: [that is strange] Did you run her DNA?

Sheriff: No. We have a sample at the station if needed, but I was hoping to see if she'll just tell us first.

Jody: Well, I'll guess we'll see what happened. Did you get the guys who kidnapped her?

Sheriff: No. Deputies scoured the preserve all night. That's why I felt she would be safer here than anywhere else.

Jody: [nods] Then we'll keep an eye out. See what happens.

Sheriff: Good. Stiles is going to let me know if he can come out and help her with his job resources.

Jody: Good. Hopefully we'll be able to get in touch with her family or something soon.

Sheriff: Hopefully. There's something familiar about her. Maybe she's related to the local Martins?

Jody: Maybe. You could always call Lydia and ask?

Sheriff: I could. Tomorrow. It's been a long day.

Jody: [she smiles] Tomorrow, for sure.

Sheriff: I'm going to lay down for a few minutes. I haven't slept yet.

Jody: Take as long as you need. If you're not up for dinner, I'll save you a plate.

Sheriff: Thanks. [and he will steal another kiss before going up to crash]

Jody: [and there will be dinner for her and the girls, and she'll clean up a bit in the kitchen before coming up to join him]

Sheriff: [yup, passed out in the center of the bed, half undressed]

Jody: [amused, but won't hold it against him. Instead she helps finish the job, before nudging him into place so she can fit next to him]

Sheriff: [and he will groan but shift obediently]

Jody: [and sleep they shall, and she'll even swap shifts with him in the morning so he doesn't have to go in till midday or so]

Sheriff: [best wife]

Rosalie: [you bet. and when he is feeling rested and ready to come downstairs, Rosalie will be in front of the TV where Jody left her as she takes in the news and tries to gauge just how different things really are here]

Sheriff: [and he is rested, showered, and in normal clothing since he doesn't wear the uniform all the time] Sleep well?

Rosalie: [glances over and nods] Yeah, I did. [she was exhausted enough that sleeping in her not!brother's room wasn't that weird]

Sheriff: You eat breakfast yet?

Rosalie: Jody pointed me to the cereal as she was leaving.

Sheriff: Did you actually eat it?

Rosalie: I was working up to it.

Sheriff: How about I make something more substantial? Sausage and eggs?

Rosalie: Sure. Sounds good.

Sheriff: Come on, you can keep me company while I cook.

Rosalie: [nods and turns off the tv before following him into the kitchen. like she was going to say no to some quality dad when he doesn't know he's her dad time]

Sheriff: [and thanks Jodie for leaving fresh coffee, which he goes to pour for himself] So tell me about yourself, Rosalie.

Rosalie: ... What do you want to know? [there are so many answers to that question]

Sheriff: How about where you're from?

Rosalie: Denver. I'm at the University of Colorado, currently.

Sheriff: Oh. What are you studying?

Rosalie: Journalism.

Sheriff: That's good. News or print?

Rosalie: [... they still have print news on this earth wow] Digital, actually.

Sheriff: Makes sense with how the world's going.

Rosalie: Yeah, well ... I'm mostly in it because I'm nosy. My family has a history of law enforcement but there's too many rules around being a cop and so much information gets buried and I just want to put it all out there. So I'm probably going to wind up with the reputation of a conspiracy blogger but at least my mom thinks its better than becoming a private investigator. [her exact words being: "your father will be rolling in his grave."]

Sheriff: [laughs] Now you sound like my son. No wonder you two get along.

Rosalie: [and that makes her smile] Our mutual nosiness has served both of us well.

Sheriff: I'm sure it's helped keep you alive on a few occasions.

Rosalie: That and the liberal use of a baseball bat.

Sheriff: [looks over his shoulder at her] You sure you're not my son in drag?

Rosalie: [there's a slightly caught look at that before she awkwardly shrugs] I guess that's why we get along so well.

Sheriff: Guess so. [and he will toss down eggs with cheese and bacon bits in it.] Ketchup's in the fridge.

Rosalie: Thanks. [and she goes to dig in to her eggs] So how long have you and Jody been married?

Sheriff: Almost a year.

Rosalie: And you guys are happy?

Sheriff: Yeah, we take care of each other. It's hard taking that step again after... well, losing someone. We both went through that, so we helped each other.

Rosalie: [she nods] I've been trying to get my mom to. It's just ... hard. And it's scary. She's lost a lot too.

Sheriff: I'm sorry to hear that. [he joins her at the table with his own plate] She'll get there when she's ready. The right person makes it easy.

Rosalie: So what I'm hearing is that I should fish out the right person and present him at a dramatically opportune moment.

Sheriff: [laughs] Yeah, you do that and don't be surprised if it doesn't work. [shakes his head] Stiles tried to set me up with his best friend's mom for years. We're good friends, but it just wasn't meant to be.

Rosalie: Yeah, well Stiles is uninventive. I'm better at thinking outside the box.

Sheriff: Uh huh.

Rosalie: I just ... I know my mom. And she needs to have a really good appetizing option in front of her to get her to start thinking about it.

Sheriff: Just remember her feelings too in this, kiddo. She may not think she's ready, or will think she's disrespecting your dad in moving on.

Rosalie: Its not that. She's dated, it's just that none of them have stuck.

Sheriff: Any reason why?

Rosalie: I don't know. She and my dad were kind of epic. She says that she's not feeling the magic. I think magic is overrated.

Sheriff: Well, would you want her to settle, or be in love and happy?

Rosalie: I don't think that lightning strikes twice. And I worry that she's waiting for that and ... sometimes settling means being happy.

Sheriff: And sometimes you're happy without.

Rosalie: [she shrugs] I don't know. [then she looks up at him] You moved on.

Sheriff: After ten years.

Rosalie: Did you and Jody have the same magic you did with Stiles' mom?

Sheriff: Yeah... yeah we did.

Rosalie: [that is both comforting and not actually what she wants to hear, so she'll stay quiet and just nod as she looks at her breakfast again]

Sheriff: [gives her a small smile] Sometimes it happens when you are least expecting it.

Rosalie: Yeah, I guess.

Jody: [and as they're winding down, the Sheriff's phone will ring]

Sheriff: [he will check his cell phone, see it's Jody and will answer it] You forget something?

Jody: Not exactly. Melissa's here too.

Melissa: Hey, Noah.

Jody: Rosalie around?

Sheriff: Yeah, we are just finishing breakfast.

Jody: Something came up. You know how you said you didn't run her DNA? The hospital did.

Sheriff: Okay. Did they find something wrong?

Jody: Not exactly. We did get a familial match for her though.

Melissa: [well, how do we say this] According to her DNA, she and Stiles are siblings, Noah. Full blood siblings.

Sheriff: ... That's impossible. I think I'd know if Stiles had a sibling.

Melissa: I know. But I had them run it twice, same results.

Jody: How did Stiles say he knew this girl again?

Sheriff: [gets up and walks away a bit] They met while he was off for that year finding himself after Cora left for Scotland.

Melissa: Yeah, well, there's something else too. Her bloodwork is ... weird. There are antibodies in her panels that I've never seen before, like she's been given vaccines that don't exist.

Sheriff: Really? [looks over at Rosalie, evaluating her]

Melissa: I don't know what's up with this girl, but ... you might want to get a better explanation out of your son.

Rosalie: [is looking back at him looking terrified, though she isn't really sure why. It could be that she's worried she won't be believed, and it could be that she's worried about actually being seen, but it's hard to say. maybe a little of both]

Sheriff: Well, you know that is an almost impossibility. That boy lies when he breathes.

Jody: Want me to meet him at the airport?

Sheriff: Sure. We can divide and conquer.

Jody: You got it.

Melissa: Until then, you might want to try talking to her.

Sheriff: Oh, I'll be doing that.

Jody: Good. Let me know if you find out anything good.

Rosalie: [Oh boy, she's really in trouble.]

Sheriff: Will do. [and he will hang up and walk back over to her, putting the phone down] So, before I start interrogating you, do you just want to come out with the truth on what's going on here?

Rosalie: [buries her face in her hands before] What did she tell you?

Sheriff: Your DNA and Stiles' having sibling similarities.

Rosalie: Oh, just that. No big deal. [and that's totally sarcasm] I'm not really sure what it is but I'm from ... an alternate timeline, I guess. I have no idea the logistics of how I got here and Stiles told me not to say anything because technically this is supposed to be all top secret, and I'm not even supposed to know all of this is a thing so ... yeah.

Sheriff: [nods, his fingers thumbing on the table] The fact that alternative timelines exist is actually not a new concept to me.

Rosalie: Well, it was a real big shock to me when Stiles randomly showed up a while back, which is how he got the blunt force trauma.

Sheriff: I don't think anyone will fault you for hitting him with a bat.

Rosalie: Yeah, well ... we're cool now. He helped us get my actual timeline brother back, so I kind of owe him one.

Sheriff: What happened to your version of Stiles?

Rosalie: Our ... problem with the nogitsune didn't end as well as yours did. We thought we were out of options so we had to ... quarantine him in amber. Scott, Derek and Allison's dad wound up being caught in there with him.

Sheriff: Oh. [and his face flattens a moment, remembering that time and the pain it caused everyone] I'm sorry you had to go through that.

Rosalie: Yeah. But your Stiles helped us figure out how to get him out so now Stiles is home in Denver trying to figure out how to werewolf.

Sheriff: Well, that's a step better. I'm not sure if Stiles would make a good werewolf.

Rosalie: Better than him being dead.

Sheriff: True.

Rosalie: He's figuring it out, and Scott's helping him. And Mom is glad she gets to do a crap ton of ... cooking. [her voice trails off when she brings that up because it was different talking about her mom when the sheriff didn't know who she was]

Sheriff: [and yeah, that stops him] Claudia's still alive in your world?

Rosalie: ... Yeah. They came up with a preventative treatment for FTD a long time ago on my Earth.

Sheriff: [there's a sad smile there] That's good.

Rosalie: Yeah. She's a pre-k teacher in Denver.

Sheriff: [chuckles] Yeah, that's what she wanted to do before she was diagnosed.

Rosalie: She loves it. She's really good.

Sheriff: So, can I ask about me, or is that breaking some rule about not knowing your other self?

Rosalie: [deep breath] Not that I know of, but ... there's not really much to tell. [a beat] You died when I was five.

Sheriff: Oh. [and he blinks, then takes his own deep breath] So this is probably very awkward for you.

Rosalie: [plays with her hair a second] Awkward's not the word I'd use.

Sheriff: If you want, I can get someone else to wait with you.

Rosalie: Don't? [Dad time is not something she gets often, so she desperately wants it, even if he's not hers.] I mean, if it's not too weird for you.

Sheriff: It's not. I'm more worried about you.

Rosalie: Why's that?

Sheriff: I don't want you to have to get close and then feel like you'll lose me again.

Rosalie: It's not really losing you. I mean ... technically you're not mine.

Sheriff: Then what is it?

Rosalie: It's ... I don't know. It's the same way Stiles wasn't Stiles.

Sheriff: Similar, but not the same.

Rosalie: Exactly. So ... you're your own person. Not ... my dad. [a beat] Unless this would be bad for you?

Sheriff: At this point I think I'm dad to half of Beacon Hills. One more won't hurt. [smiles]

Rosalie: Good. Then ... we're good.

Sheriff: We are.

Rosalie: Good. [a nod] And I will stop using that word before it loses all meaning.

Sheriff: [laughs] So, do you want me to talk about me, or do you want me to pull out the embarrassing pictures of Stiles before he gets here?

Rosalie: Oh, definitely pictures.

Sheriff: Come on, they're in my room. [and off they go to look at the albums until they are interrupted]

Jody: [and we jump over to the airport, where Jody is waiting for the Fringe team as they come off the plane]

Stiles: [and he totally come off the plane looking like the professional detective that he is.]

Jody: [waves, and ruins all that cred as she comes over for a hug] Hey, kiddo.

Stiles: [and he will hug her back, smiling] Hey Jody. [and he will make all the introductions]

Jody: [smiles and waves and ...] Mind riding with me?

Stiles: [looks over at Olivia] You guys can follow us. You have the address, right?

Olivia: [nods] We'll meet you there.

Jody: [guides Stiles back to the car and waits until they're inside for:] So about your sister.

Stiles: What's Claire done this time?

Jody: Not that one.

Stiles: Alex?

Jody: [just glances over and gives him a long look while they're at a red light]

Stiles: I can't confirm or deny anything without approval from my supervisor.

Jody: Well, too late, her DNA already did that for you.

Stiles: You ran her DNA? Seriously?

Jody: The hospital did it before she asked to call you. She was a Jane Doe, it's protocol.

Stiles: Shit.

Jody: They were just doing their jobs. But Melissa got a hold of it before it wound up in any files.

Stiles: Good. [texting Olivia the info so that someone can go scrub the hospital's records]

Jody: But your dad knows.

Stiles: Great.

Jody: So you might want to prepare yourself for them conspiring against you and also prepping him for when she has to go home.

Stiles: [rubs at his forehead] And her too.

Jody: Yep. That too.

Stiles: [leans his head back against the headrest] This is going to suck.

Jody: I don't think it was designed to be nice, no matter who's responsible.

Stiles: We still have no idea how she got here.

Jody: Well, that is out of my jurisdiction.

Stiles: Thankfully it's in mine.

Jody: Good. And hopefully once this is done, you'll be able to get her back where she belongs?

Stiles: That's the plan.

Jody: Okay. [and they pull into the driveway] You're up.

Stiles: Hopefully I will get out of this with minimal scarring. [and he will get out of the car, straighten his tie and jacket, and head inside]

Rosalie: [where his not sister and his dad are sitting on the couch flipping through photo albums]

Stiles: Really, she's been here less than a day and you pull out the baby photos?

Sheriff: Hello to you too, son.

Rosalie: These are way better than the ones we have. [they're honestly not that different, she just enjoys messing with Stiles]

Stiles: Well, when i take you home, we'll ask your mom to show me yours.

Rosalie: [eyebrows go up] Isn't that breaking all kinds of rules?

Stiles: [and he just holds out his hands at her because obviously she didn't care]

Rosalie: I didn't tell him! He figured it out!

Sheriff: [sitting back and watching this with amusement]

Stiles: That doesn't mean you have to humor him with the photo albums!

Rosalie: Oh. Oh, this isn't humoring him. I'm actively enjoying this.

Stiles: I hate you so much right now.

Sheriff: Alright kids, settle down.

Rosalie: [sobers, and slumps back in the couch again] Sorry.

Stiles: No, it's fine. [looks over at her] At least you're okay. That's what matters most right now.

Rosalie: Yeah. I'm pretty sure the guys who took me are still in Beacon Hills somewhere.

Stiles: Well, I brought the whole team, so we're hoping to make quick work of them.

Rosalie: Great. What about Lyd?

Stiles: Still in Boston, waiting for you.

Sheriff: Lyd... like Lydia?

Rosalie: Kinda?

Stiles: [takes a deep breath] You tell him about the two realities?

Rosalie: Very loosely.

Sheriff: You're a werewolf in her world.

Stiles: Yeah, I think you get the concept. It's the Lydia from her world.

Rosalie: She rocks an a-line bob and is probably way less fun than the Lydia here.

Stiles: It's debatable. She still packs a mean right hook.

Rosalie: Well, you didn't get to live through her overprotective phase when she was the only one left.

Stiles: No, that's true. Ours was reversed with me being overprotective of her.

Rosalie: She's great though. Don't get me wrong, I don't know what I'd do without her.

Stiles: Probably get into a lot more trouble.

Sheriff: Ain't that the truth.

Rosalie: Rude. .... Accurate, but still rude.

Stiles: You're literally a female me. I know you better than myself.

Rosalie: So ... what do we do now?

Stiles: We try to figure out where the a-holes that did this to you are hiding and flush them out.

Rosalie: So how do we do that?

Stiles: I haven't the foggiest clue.

Rosalie: Maybe we should use me as bait?

Stiles: You were already used as bait.

Rosalie: Then let's use me as reverse bait.

Stiles: [sighs, rubbing at his eyes] I wasn't this bad when I was her age.

Sheriff: You were worse.

Rosalie: Look, they haven't gotten what they wanted from Lydia, right? So they're going to need their leverage back. They don't care about anything here, so unless you want them to start bulldozing innocent civilians to get what they want, maybe it's better to be lead to them rather than trying to track them down on your own.

Stiles: Just as long as they don't decide to try and use our Lydia instead.

Rosalie: .... I mean, I don't know they might. How good is she at screaming?

Stiles: Oh, she's getting good.

Rosalie: Then she'll probably be fine but you should also probably warn her.

Stiles: [yup, that's going to be fun] Well, let's wait for Olivia and company to arrive before we start making plans.

Rosalie: Okay. I'm gonna go get a drink. [and off she will go and give them a chance to talk or whatever]

Stiles: [and he is going to just text his own Lydia] Hey, how you doing?

Lydia: What's wrong?

Stiles: Why do you assume something’s wrong?

Lydia: Because you wouldn't be trying to small talk me if everything was fine, you would just tell me what you want.

Stiles: [sighs] What if I was seriously just wanting to chat and see how you were doing?

Lydia: You would have sent me some kind of ridiculous meme or article you found that reminded you of me and then eventually segued into that.

Stiles: You really need to stop being so paranoid.

Lydia: I'm not paranoid. I just know you.

Stiles: Well, fine. I've been working a case and there's a group of unknown bad guys trying to get themselves a banshee. So, just keep your head down, stay with friends, and call me if you feel like someone's following you.

Lydia: Was that really so hard? [after a beat] I'll go take a trip with Malia out of town if it will make you feel better.

Stiles: Thank you.

Lydia: Let me know when it's safe to come home?

Stiles: Of course.

Lydia: Be careful.

Stiles: Always am.

Lydia: [sure you are]

Olivia: [and by that time Olivia knocks on the door. knock knock knock]

Sheriff: [and he will get up and get the door because his son is texting Lydia]

Olivia: [and there will be a small smile when the door opens] Sheriff Stilinski? Agent Olivia Dunham. I don't believe we've had the pleasure before. [holds out a hand]

Sheriff: No, we haven't. [takes it and shakes] Come on in. Stiles and Rosalie are inside, Agent.

Olivia: [nods as she steps in] This is Agent Astrid Farnsworth and Doctor Walter Bishop.

Astrid: [smiles] Nice to meet you. Stiles has told us a lot about you.

Walter: Do I smell bacon?

Stiles: [walking into the hallway] Hey guys.

Astrid: I'm sure if there is bacon they will offer, Walter.

Olivia: How's Rosalie doing?

Sheriff: We ate it all, but I can make more.

Walter: Lovely. Six strips with maple syrup.

Jody: I'll handle it. [and she heads into the kitchen]

Stiles: Rosalie is doing okay and wants to be anti-bait.

Olivia: [brow furrows] Anti bait?

Stiles: Since she was used as bait once, to be used as bait again to draw the kidnappers out.

Olivia: Well, that sounds ... unnecessarily dangerous?

Stiles: Yeah, well she is my sister. Kinda.

Olivia: Maybe we can draft a plan that meets in the middle.

Stiles: Maybe. She should be in the kitchen. [and he will nod for Olivia to follow him]

Olivia: [follows him in to where Rosalie is sitting at the counter and Jody is making bacon]

Rosalie: So? What are we thinking?

Stiles: Trying to come up with a plan somewhere between yours and ours.

Rosalie: [rests her chin in her hands] Look, this isn't the first time I've been kidnapped guys.

Sheriff: [leaning in the doorway, listening]

Stiles: Why am I not surprised?

Rosalie: Because Beacon Hills.

Sheriff: I thought you lived in Denver.

Rosalie: Only after Beacon Hills got quarantined.

Sheriff: Right.

Stiles: So first tell us what you remember, and then what your idea is.

Rosalie: Okay. I was going to my car after class, and then I just got ambushed. Two guys, gross and kind of greasy, and they shoved me into the back of this van. Took my ShowMe and my stuff and ... that probably got ditched somewhere so they couldn't use it to track me.

Olivia: ShowMe is a form of identification.

Stiles: I actually knew that.

Sheriff: Which dimension do you think they dropped it in?

Olivia: You're not the only one here.

Jody: Thank you, Agent Dunham.

Rosalie: Mine. Things didn't go Topsy Turvy until way after. There was a minute where it felt like ... I was being pushed through a really small tube, you know? And then the air was different.

Stiles: Reminds me of the Ghost Riders. Do you remember anything about what they talked about.

Rosalie: [she shakes her head] They weren't speaking English and it wasn't Polish or Spanish so I couldn't translate.

Sheriff: And you said this was about your world's Lydia?

Rosalie: Lydia's a cop in my world. She .... busted up a lot of stuff for them, I'm assuming, so they were trying to send a message.

Stiles: So why would they bring you here if they just wanted to beat you up as a message? That's the thing not fitting that scenario.

Rosalie: Maybe they wanted to make sure they wouldn't get screwed over by Fringe before they got what they wanted?

Sheriff: Did they get what they wanted? [looks over at Olivia and Stiles] Where's the other Lydia?

Olivia: In Boston. [holds up her phone before dialing the number for Peter, who stayed behind Lydia but also because Etta] We should loop her in on this.

Peter: [is babysitting his daughter and a banshee. You're totally making this up to him later, Liv] Bishop Daycare, Peter speaking.

Olivia: Hi, honey. Is Agent Martin there?

Lydia: [glances over from where she's doing puzzles with Etta]

Peter: Yeah, she is. [waves for Lydia to come over]

Lydia: [pushes up and makes her way over to the phone] Agent Dunham?

Olivia: Hi. We're here with the Stilinskis, and we had some questions about the way things went down on your side.

Lydia: What do you need to know?

Stiles: Have you been working on any cases lately that might bring retribution? Specifically from people who speak a language other than English, Spanish, or Polish?

Lydia: The conglomerate involved was mostly built in Eastern Europe, so Russian and Slavic languages would probably be involved. So close to Polish but not quite.

Stiles: Have they made any demands yet?

Lydia: If I ever want to see her again, I'll bury the case.

Stiles: Well, we have Rosalie, and she's mostly in one piece.

Lydia: The problem is, we didn't know they had technology that allowed them to jump between universes. Obviously, they cannot keep that.

Stiles: Well, obviously.

Walter: There will be signs to show where the rift was, and we can trace the signature. We will be home by dinner.

Olivia: Walter, do you have the means to do that here, or will you need access to equipment?

Walter: Astrid? Did you bring the case?

Astrid: It is in the car.

Walter: Then yes, we have the equipment.

Olivia: Then we'll just need the space to set up and Rosalie doesn't have to be risked at all.

Rosalie: I never get to have any fun.

Stiles: But you got to see the blackmail pictures.

Peter: Can you bring those back for me to look at?

Rosalie: You'll have to ask the Sheriff.

Stiles: The answer is no. Cora already called dibs on them.

Rosalie: That's not who I said you had to ask.

Astrid: Maybe Cora will share.

Stiles: Peter knows better than to cross Cora.

Peter: Of course. I can just ask.

Olivia: Can we ... stay on topic please?

Lydia: Agreed. The sooner we track these assholes down the better.

Walter: Once I am done with my bacon, we will begin.

Olivia: [she nods, before turning to the sheriff] If you like, we could take Rosalie into our custody. I don't mean to impose.

Sheriff: You have enough to do with catching these guys. Between Jodie and I, we can watch over her until you know she's safe.

Olivia: [glances to Rosalie] Are you okay with that?

Rosalie: [she nods] All good here.

Olivia: Okay. Then Astrid and I are going to go set up at the sheriff's station. Stiles, when you and Walter are ready, you can bring him over and we can get started?

Stiles: We'll be behind you soon.

Olivia: [nods with a smile, before turning to the sheriff] Thank you for lending us your kitchen.

Sheriff: Anytime.

Olivia: [and off they will go while Rosalie pouts about not being part of the action]

Sheriff: [but in return, she gets more Dad time]

Rosalie: [that is true, she will enjoy that]

Sheriff: [and a bit after Stiles and Walter leave] So, are we going to sneak off after them, or do you actually plan on staying here?

Rosalie: [watches him, trying to figure out if he's serious] Do you ... want to? It's gonna be a lot of science-y stuff for a while.

Sheriff: Well, if you are like my son, if I don't go with you, you're going to go do this on your own.

Rosalie: I don't think Stiles had a pretty big incentive to stay put before.

Sheriff: Oh, he has. Still does. Doesn't stop him.

Rosalie: I'm pretty sure his isn't as time sensitive as mine.

Sheriff: Oh?

Rosalie: I'm pretty sure we're not going to get to do this again.

Sheriff: Never is a harsh word.

Rosalie: I'm technically not supposed to know this world exists. And they don't just randomly let people cross over.

Sheriff: No, but I'm sure there are ways around it.

Rosalie: Yeah, but I don't know when that's going to be. And like I said before, you're not ... mine. [so she's not going to get her hopes up for another shot at this]

Sheriff: No, I'm not. Just like your mother isn't my Claudia. But you're still family no matter what.

Rosalie: I appreciate that. [she leans forward, her hands sandwiching her face] Man, keeping this from Mom is gonna suck.

Sheriff: She is probably better off.

Rosalie: Probably, but I usually tell her everything. And when I do lie to her, she can usually see right through me.

Sheriff: Does she know about Stiles?

Rosalie: This one? No. She's not supposed to know so there was a cover story. I mean, they kind of needed one if Derek was going to be able to go see his mom in prison.

Sheriff: [eyes narrow] Yeah, you are not good at all about keeping secrets.

Rosalie: .... What is Talia Hale not alive here?

Sheriff: No. She died a long time ago. Derek was... seventeen I think...

Rosalie: [leans back, confused] Then ... how did Scott become a werewolf?

Sheriff: Peter Hale.

Rosalie: .... Did he go crazy in a fire that killed the rest of his family, went on a murder spree to avenge his family and then turned himself in when he saw the error of his ways? [her voice progressively gets higher as she says all of that in one breath]

Sheriff: You had it up until that whole turning himself in and seeing the error of his ways part.

Rosalie: Oh. Well, Talia did ... all of that. I haven't really seen her since she gave up her alpha spark to save her daughter, but I'm not really on her visitor's list.

Sheriff: Hmm. Yeah, it went down differently here.

Rosalie: I've never met Peter Hale, so I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

Sheriff: [sucks on his bottom lip, because it was so a bad thing] But he's at least getting better now.

Rosalie: Well ... that's good. For the Hales anyway.

Sheriff: Very good. especially since they are the inlaws.

Rosalie: Right. Stiles told me he and Cora Hale were a thing. Weird.

Sheriff: And Derek is raising their daughter.

Rosalie: Wait, what?

Sheriff: ... You didn't know. Damn.

Rosalie: No. Stiles doesn't really talk about his life other than Cora.

Sheriff: Well, you can now see how your mother learned to keep people from lying to her.

Rosalie: It wasn't really my business.

Sheriff: You guys seemed thick as thieves. I just assumed.

Rosalie: Well, the sibling stuff comes easy as I just treat him like my Stiles most of the time. But we haven't really had a lot of time to super talk about stuff unless he volunteers it.

Sheriff: [rubs at his face] Don't tell him you know. It's not something he hides, and everyone around here knows. It's just a sore spot.

Rosalie: I figured. [still uncomfortable though] I'm surprised Derek is stable enough to be taking care of a kid.

Sheriff: Derek is probably the most stable one of his entire family.

Rosalie: And you're still letting Stiles marry his sister?

Sheriff: They actually do work, and balance each other out. They've been together since he was a junior in high school.

Rosalie: I'll take your word for it. Cora was around for like... three months and then she disappeared to South America again, so I don't know her well.

Sheriff: So Derek isn't stable in your world?

Rosalie: Derek has been frozen in amber for like five years so ... he's in recovery.
