canon au } { post-1401: stranger in a strange land

Lindsay: [... woof. It takes her a moment after the archangel leaves to catch her breath, before she picks up he phone and gives a warning call to her boyfriend]

Ben: [and he is teaching Jack about football when the phone rings] Hold on a sec, kid. [and he will walk a few steps away and answering] Hey beautiful.

Lindsay: Hey. So ... I just saw Michael. And not your cousin.

Ben: [stiffens] You mean the one inside Dean?

Lindsay: Yep.

Ben: Fuck. Are you okay?

Lindsay: Yeah, I'm fine. I think as far as he's concerned, he just wanted his presence to be known.

Ben: But why you? Why now?

Lindsay: Honestly, I think I was just a bonus. He was here for something else.

Ben: Jack?

Lindsay: No. Something else. Something not Winchester related.

Ben: [paces a bit more, thinking about what...] Werewolves.

Lindsay: No idea why, though.

Ben: Why would an archangel want werewolves? You should check in with Scott, see what he might know.

Lindsay: Yeah, he's my next stop after calling you, but you can let Sam know that Michael was in Beacon Hills.

Ben: Yeah, will do. I'm pretty sure he'll be there in the morning once I tell him.

Lindsay: I'll make sure the couch is made up, then.

Ben: [nods] You sure you're ok?

Lindsay: Yeah. The sooner we find a solution to this problem the better, but I'll be fine.

Ben: Ok. But do me a favor and keep an extra blade under your pillow.

Lindsay: I will. Are you doing okay?

Ben: Yeah. Teaching Jack about Sunday night football.

Lindsay: That sounds fun.

Jack: Ben, why is the man dancing in the goal area?

Ben: [chuckles] Yeah, it's a blast.

Lindsay: Better get back to it, then. I'll call you when I know more.

Ben: Alright. And hey, be careful.

Lindsay: I will. You too.

Ben: Miss you.

Lindsay: Miss you too. If I can get a couple days furlough I'll try and come out, okay?

Ben: I'd like that. It's kinda hard to leave right now with everything.

Lindsay: I'll see what I can do. Until then, you know you can call whenever.

Ben: Maybe I'll call you late tonight, after the kid's in bed and I'm behind a soundproof door? [smirks to himself]

Lindsay: [she laughs] Considering I'm on shift all night, I'm not sure the sheriffs would be fond of that.

Ben: Tell Parrish to go take a long walk.

Lindsay: That's kinda mean. And a little unfulfilling on my end.

Ben: My end too. I'd much rather have you than lefty.

Lindsay: Maybe I'll check in with you when my shift is over.

Ben: Such a tease.

Lindsay: Have fun with your football. Love you.

Ben: Love you too. [and he will hang up and quickly call Sam with the info, then go tell Jack all about touchdown celebrations]

Lindsay: [and she will go see Scott, checking in to make sure he's okay and hoping that the rest of her shift will be quiet]

Scott: [totally ok. didn't see anyone suspicious but if they are trying to give people ultimate power, Peter would be the player she'd want to check up on]

Lindsay: [... She's just going to text Buffy and let her handle that one, honestly]

Peter: [which probably answers her questions about that night Peter came home having his ass handed to him and he's been quietly licking his wounds ever since]

Buffy: [yep. And she will relay it to Lindsay accordingly who will relay it to Ben]

Ben: [fucking Peter Hale man]

Lindsay: [it is his lot in life]

Ben: Last thing we need is for him to get caught up in this mess and make us hesitate.

Lindsay: Given how he was beat up, I don't think he came away happy. What that means is for Buffy to find out.

Ben: I don't want to be in that apartment building tonight.

Lindsay: I'm on call. If I get any domestic dispute calls, I'll head over to try and break it up.

Ben: Good luck on that.

Lindsay: It'll be more protecting their neighbors than them.

Ben: [laughs]

Lindsay: So what have you been up to?

Ben: [scratches nose as he looks over at Jack] Teaching the kid about sports.

Lindsay: How's that going?

Jack: [hands Ben $5] So I'm supposed to give you money every time your team scores, right?

Ben: That's right, kiddo.

Lindsay: You are fleecing a two-year-old.

Ben: I'm teaching him an important lesson in not getting involved in gambling.

Lindsay: Oh my God.

Ben: [you can hear the Winchester grin over the phone]

Lindsay: It's really not impressive.

Ben: I'm not planning on keeping it.

Lindsay: You better correct him before he tries to get money out of Dean.

Ben: [and there's a sigh there, because Dean is still in the wind] I'm sure I'll have time.

Lindsay: [and she softens because she forgot, for a second] And we'll find him, Ben.

Ben: Oh, I know. And I plan on punching Michael in the face a few thousand times for putting us all through this.

Lindsay: Good. And we're looking out for him too. I think Buffy's going to try and track down some holy oil just in case he shows his face again.

Ben: Just be careful. This guy doesn't care about collateral damage.

Lindsay: He's not the first and he won't be the last. I'll be careful.

Ben: Okay. [he licks his lips, then lowers his voice] You know I love you, right?

Lindsay: Yeah. I love you too.

Ben: I know I don't use the words a lot, but lately with how everyone's been... I wanted to make sure you heard them.

Lindsay: Well, I appreciate it. But this better not be some kind of half-assed goodbye speech because if you die on me, I know a witch who knows a resurrection spell and it is not fun.

Ben: Yeah, yeah, i know. Bring me back just to kill me yourself.

Lindsay: Nah, not kill. Probably torture though.

Ben: Not the nipple clamps.

Lindsay: Oh, it'll be worse than those.

Jack: Why would someone want to clamp their nipples?

Ben: Because humans are weird, Jack.

Lindsay: I'm pretty sure if you die on me, you're going to have blue balls for a year, at least.

Ben: Ouch.

Lindsay: So as I said. Stay alive.

Ben: Yes ma'am.

Lindsay: I gotta get back to work. But I'll talk to you later, okay?

Ben: Yeah, later. You be safe.

Lindsay: Will do. [and off she goes to sit in a car with Parrish because it's also probably good to have an indestructible fire puppy on her side]

Parrish: [yup. He hasn't been visited by the angel yet, and really hopes not to]

Lindsay: [no one wants a visit from Michael, he's the least popular angel in school. Though Lindsay's mind is clearly Elsewhere as they sit in the car together]

Parrish: [and he will notice that after awhile] Trouble?

Lindsay: [glances over and shrugs] Just ... worried about the Winchesters.
