Derek: [is having a practice session with Nik out in the backyard. He's gotten good at this point that he can give Nik a run for his money, though he knows Nik probably hasn't shown him all his tricks yet.]

Nik: [nope. Not even close, But he eases up when he hears footsteps coming around the other side of the house, and scowls a bit when he sees who it is] What are you doing here?

Greg: [gives a bit of a shrug] Heard a struggle. Thought there might be something wrong. [no, it's not, he's here to cause trouble]

Derek: Nope, just getting in a workout. [done, you can leave now]

Greg: Right, right. Victor said something about training. [he makes his way closer before giving a shrug] Why don't you let me give it a go?

Nik: No. [he'll safely speak for Derek on that one]

Greg: Oh, come on. I can play nice. Besides, if he only learns on one wolf, he might get ... what's the word ... complacent. Usually leads to things getting snaked out from under you.

Derek: Nik's not the only one I'm learning from. [Peter counts, right? let's leave it ambiguous. And Nik is his trainer, so nope, letting them resolve this]

Nik: [ eyebrow raise] I trained you, dipshit. So no.

Greg: [studies them both for a moment, before smirking] Alright, fine. Maybe I'll go see what Fiona's up to, since you're ... otherwise engaged.

Derek: Fiona's with Leah and Victor. Good luck with that. [he knows his girlfriend's habits. And seeing that Nik and Leah had borderline hostile to him, he feels that he doesn't have to be as nice anymore after the doorstep incident]

Greg: [he nods a bit as he considers] Well, according to the rules, I can only hang out with her when there are other people around, so that works for me. [he smirks and goes to turn] I think I saw them in the living room last.

Derek: [just looks at Nik. Because while he trusts Leah and Victor to protect Fiona, he also doesn't want Greg near her. He nods, letting Nik know he'll do it, taking a deep breath to keep his center so his eyes don't come out]

Nik: [sets his jaw for a moment, before nodding. He can respect the instinct, if nothing else. He takes a step back and turns to Greg] I see you pulling any shit and you'll be tumbling with me.

Greg: [nods once] Not a problem. [and with that, he'll square off, waiting to see if Derek will make the first move.]

Derek: [nope, Derek won't be. He's better at defense and it keeps him calmer to be able to keep in control. He gets himself relaxed and centered, his eyes watching and waiting for Greg to make the first move, ready to move the moment he does]

Greg: [cracks his neck, eyeing him for a moment, before baring his teeth and charging hard, aiming for Derek's left side.]

Derek: [well, seeing that Derek's been fighting Nik for months now, he knows what to do and moves out of the way easily, his hands landing on Greg's back and giving him a hard shove through his momentum away from him and into the furniture. He smirks, re-centering himself easily with a bit of a bounce in his feet]

Greg: [okay. So he's fast. He feels the hands shove on his back and he grits his teeth, before turning around to face him again] Not bad. [but it's not long before he's charging in again, this time a little bit faster. But before he gets too close, he drops hard, sliding in like a baseball player and trying to use it to catch his legs out from under him]

Derek: [he sees that and wasn't expecting it, and his first reaction has him front flipping over Greg, landing in a crouch facing the man, one hand on the ground, the other poised to strike up or out at the man, depending on where his face is when he lands]

Greg: [spins onto his feet quickly in a matching crouch, fangs descending in a low snarl to match that challenge - he doesn't hesitate and as fast as he can he's lashing out towards Derek's face]

Derek: [the strike he was planning turns into a block to keep the claws out of his face. His fingers grab onto Greg's shoulder and he pushes off, rolling and pulling the man over until Greg is on his back, and Derek has his arm behind his back and pinned.] Good try. [and he's letting Greg go and pushing up back to his feet, resetting]

Greg: [well, now he's getting angry. But angry tends to be his default state, so it doesn't really show much beyond the fact that he obviously doesn't like being shown up. He rolls to his feet, stepping back to get some distance and appraise the situation]

Derek: [is smirking a bit. He can see Greg is pissed, which just reinforces his own stance of staying calm, keeping his breathing even and waiting for the next attack. He's not going to rise to the bait]

Greg: [his head tips to the side for a moment before smirking and bracing himself, this time charging towards Derek's right side, just like he did the first time]

Derek: [he's going to react the same way but he's sure that Greg is going to change this up because only a stupid wolf would attack the same way twice]

Greg: [yep. He expects the dodge and when he does, he uses the patio table that's sitting to their right to swing his weight around, using his arms to support him. It turns into a flying kick, intending to slam both of his feet into Derek from behind.]

Derek: [and he wasn't expecting Greg to use the furniture to his advantage and the hit lands, throwing Derek across the lawn to land hard on his back, knocking the air out of his lung]

Greg: [doesn't slow, moving to pounce on him and keep him down, one hand going right for his throat to pin him, and Nik is already moving to try and yank him off, but he's still a few feet away]

Derek: [his air cut off, he has no choice because he's pretty sure Greg would rip his throat out if he could. His eyes flash as he shifts, claws going to slash at the arm and face to get him off]

Greg: [he doesn't need much, really because the second he sees Derek's eyes, he recoils. He wasn't sure what he was expecting, but there's an answering flash of gold in return as he reels back onto his feet]

Nik: [his hand comes to the back of Greg's throat, gripping tightly and shoving him to the side] I think that's enough.

Derek: [sits up, panting, his eyes back to normal but he knows the damage is done and he's silent, looking at them both]

Greg: [looks at them both for a moment, before shaking his head and walking off]

Nik: [waits until he's around the corner before extending his hand to him] You okay?

Derek: [nods, standing up and cracking his back loudly] I'm fine. But he saw my eyes. That's not going to be good.

Nik: [exhales slowly] As much of a jackass as he is, he knows the pack comes first. I don't think he'll do anything to risk his place in it, no matter his obsession with Fiona.

Derek: I don't think he considers me pack. Doubt he ever would, all things considered. Though I know why you guys hate him so much now.

Nik: [his jaw twitches] You're a guest of the pack. You're under Victor's protection. He comes after you, he's pretty much spitting in his alpha's face.

Derek: [nods, but he's worried. It's powerful information against him. But Derek knows Victor knows the story from his mother.] I should warn Victor that he knows though. So Greg can't blindside him with anything.

Nik: [he nods] That's a good idea. I think we're done for today anyway.

Derek: [nods, then sighs] Thanks. [and he goes to head inside, rubbing the back of his neck. because damn, Peter taught him better than that]

Fiona: [was heading into the kitchen to get a drink when she spots him, frowning a bit in concern] Rough session?

Derek: [nods, then follows her into the kitchen] Greg came out and basically turned it into a spar with me or I'll go bug Fiona scenario. Nik was there but.... I couldn't control my shift. He knows.

Fiona: [that frown turns worried very quickly, taking a step closer to get a better look at him] Are you okay?

Derek: [shakes his head] It was important for Victor and Nik to know, but Peter stressed I hide it from everyone else. I don't know what kind of damage this may bring...

Fiona: [shakes her head and she slides her arms around his neck to pull him in closer] So long as you're not turning people into snack food, I don't think we'll have a problem with the hunters. Most of the ones who are local have an understanding with Victor, kind of like Talia does with Chris.

Derek: [nods, leaning his forehead against hers] I still need to let Victor know I screwed up. Just so he can be prepared.

Fiona: [she nods, just staying there with him for a moment] Anything I can do?

Derek: No. I just need to get it over with and see what happens next. Nik doesn't think anything will, but Peter was very adamant that I not reveal this to anyone not Victor or Nik.

Fiona: He was trying to protect you. And I doubt that he'll see this as being your fault. You have pretty good control, so Greg must have been coming at you hard.

Derek: He was choking me in a pin and I couldn't breathe. It was just instinct that took over.

Fiona: [she shakes her head] Then not your fault.

Derek: [nods] Come on, let me go talk with him and get it over with. You can distract Leah, and then maybe we can just get out of here for a bit and take a walk?

Fiona: [she nods, before taking his hand and pulling him back towards the living room] Hey, Lee? Can you help me with something?

Leah: [is quite comfortable right now. Why sister, why?] Uh - sure? [but she gets up anyway, leaving Victor alone on the couch]

Derek: [watches them go a moment, then looks at the alpha] I actually needed to talk to you a moment. I hope we're not disrupting something.

Victor: [frowns as he sits up, shaking his head] Not at all. Have a seat. [he gestures to the empty chair across from him]

Derek: [nods and takes the seat, folding his arms on his knees] Greg joined mine and Nik's session this morning. [there was no point going into the reasons why] And in the process of trying to escape a throat choke, I lost control of my shift and he saw my eyes.

Victor: [he exhales slowly, before nodding.] And you're worried about that coming back on the pack?

Derek: [nods] Peter was adamant that I keep it hidden while being here because of the problems it can bring. Hunters don't tend to ask why when they see my eyes. The few hunters that came through Beacon Hills when I was finishing high school always targeted me. It's why I made the choice to play human when I left for college. Why I'm not trained like the rest of my family. And if this is going to put your pack in danger, I understand needing to leave.

Victor: [shakes his head] The local hunters know to leave those under my protection alone unless they're taking advantage of the power we've been given and hurting innocent people. That includes you.

Derek: [nods] I know. But most hunters see a blue eye wolf as someone who has hurt an innocent person and it doesn't really come with a history of who, how and when, or how many. They just feel it's a license the kill.

Victor: And if those hunters happen to come into my territory, we'll deal with them accordingly. But I'm not going to hang an innocent person out to dry over a misunderstanding, especially someone that we're coming to consider family.

Derek: [there's a small smile to that] I know you won't. [Greg, not so much] I just don't want you to be blindsided either. Greg doesn't like me much.

Victor: [there's a slight face at that] Greg doesn't really like anyone much.

Derek: Fiona told me about their history. [he's not going to tattle on Greg trying to start a fight with him - Leah already saw it and if it was something Victor needed to know, she would have told him already] I just don't want to be the cause of issues in your pack either. The consideration as family goes both ways.

Victor: [purses his lips a bit as he leans back in the couch] I didn't choose Greg over Fiona. Fiona made the decision for me. [which is saying that if she would have pressed the issue, he would have ruled in her favor, but without that, the bonds of a pack are strong. He can't break them lightly]

Derek: I don't think she wanted you to have to make a choice. She was scared. She still is, and I don't blame her. But she's also stubborn and doesn't want to make it into an issue. She just wants to be with her family.

Victor: [he nods] That's why we have the rules in place, though I have a feeling it's only a matter of time before he weasels his way around them. But if he continues to be overly aggressive towards you or you don't feel safe here in any way, please let me know, and I will deal with him.

Derek: I will. Thank you.

Victor: [he nods] And I'm sorry, for the problems he's caused so far.

Derek: So far I've been able to handle him. I just don't want to leave Fiona alone in the house. She's good at making sure she's with you, me or Leah at all times though.

Victor: [nods] One of the rules we put in place before we let him on this trip was that he was not allowed to be alone with Fiona.

Derek: He's said as much. But he has an attitude that makes me think he's looking for an accidental run in to happen so that he can get around that too. That's why I let him spar with me.

Victor: [nods] I'll see if I can keep him busy. There's a reason he came and we are here on actual business.

Derek: Thank you. [he is really grateful for that]

Victor: [he nods] Of course.

Derek: [gets up] I'm going to take Fi on a walk for a bit. Want me to grab you anything while I'm out? We can stop at the market.

Victor: [shakes his head] I think we're fine. Enjoy your walk.

Derek: [heads back out to find where Fiona and Leah are] Ready for that walk?

Fiona: [glances back to him with a grin before nodding, holding her hand out to him] Yep. Let's go.
