canon au } { post-s4, of readjustment periods and handsome deputies

Laura: [is sitting cross-legged on the couch with the pizza, eyeing the slices for a moment, before reaching forward to grab one and put it on a plate] God, this smells so good.

Parrish: It seems like the pizza guy knows this place.

Laura: Derek's pack is made up of teenage boys with bottomless appetites, plus Dawn. I'm not really surprised.

Parrish: I guess pizza is an easy compromise.

Laura: [hums a bit as she takes a bite, closing her eyes as she does] Not as good as New York pizza but still ... really awesome.

Parrish: [has his slice and sitting back to enjoy it] So what's New York like anyway?

Laura: Loud. Crowded. If you're looking to disappear? That's definitely the place to go.

Parrish: So you just went there to hide?

Laura: [she shrugs] Basically. Derek ... he was a walking target, especially without a pack. In New York, we were two wolves in a city of millions. Hunters would blow us off for easier targets before they managed to actually find us.

Parrish: [shakes his head] What is it about your brother that's so special? I mean, they brought me to him when we found out I wasn't... normal. And he was seriously like eighteen for a day, and the Sheriff has him come out on cases...

Laura: [her eyebrows raise a bit at the "eighteen for a day" comment, but she lets that go] Well, back then, it was because of his eyes. A wolf with blue eyes is marked a killer, no matter what the circumstances, and every hunter knew that the Hales were ... gone. I needed to make sure he wouldn't be a sitting duck and New York seemed like the best bet. But from what I've seen of the wolves around here? I think Derek just ... knows more than anyone else. I guess they figured he stood the best bet of getting you answers.

Parrish: [he's amused at that look] He didn't tell you about that, I take it?

Laura: No, he did not. And I'm very sorry you had to deal with that smartass.

Parrish: Actually, he and I got along. But he hated my partner. Not that I blame him. The guy did taze him.

Laura: [winces] What did he do to get tazed?

Parrish: Trespassed on private property and refusing to leave. Of course later we realized he was actually the owner of the property but didn't really fit the description at the time.

Laura: Ahh. [she makes a face] Poor kid..

Parrish: Yeah. But then I got to watch him shift into a full out black wolf and then shoft back with full frontal. Yeah, no I've pretty much seen your brother in ways I never wanted. [smirks as he takes a drink]

Laura: [pinches her eyes close] Visual I never wanted. Thank you.

Parrish: Hey, I'm all for sharing the horrifying imagery of my job, so you're welcome.

Laura: [she shakes her head, before taking another bite of her pizza] I'm just glad he didn't get himself for real killed.

Parrish: I'm sure. Though, being one of the ones benefitting from this town, it seems like no one really stays dead here.

Laura: It wasn't always like this. I'm not even sure what to make of all the resurrections that have been happening lately.

Parrish: You think it's a bad thing?

Laura: I'm not entirely sure it's good.

Parrish: Well, seeing that we're both playing catchup with figuring out the current status of this town and our place in the world with what we are, we can add this to our list of things to learn.

Laura: [she smiles a bit at that] Sounds like a good list.

Parrish: So what else is on your list of things to do now that you're back?

Laura: [she pauses, trying to think if she even had a list] ... I don't even know. It's not like I had a whole lot of priorities when I was alive previously. [protect Derek was the big one. But Derek doesn't really need protecting anymore, so she's a little at a loss]

Parrish: Well, I think then we need to start making you a list. That way you have things to move towards.

Laura: [she nods a bit, tucking her hair behind her ear] It's just ... all the goals I had are kind of a moot point now.

Parrish: So you make new ones. You have a new life, new goals.

Laura: It's not that easy. I mean ... I was supposed to be the next Hale alpha. It didn't exactly leave a lot of room for developing other interests. I ... I've got too many options now.

Parrish: ... Yeah, I guess that can be overwhelming. But did you ever have a point where you were like "I don't want to be the alpha, I want to be a...?"

Laura: Maybe? When I was like ... ten? [she shakes her head] There wasn't really an option for me, unless my mom got killed by another wolf. When she died, I would be next. And then she did die and I was next and ... my one life goal became keeping me and Derek alive. [there's a beat] And I didn't do a very good job with the "me" end of things.

Parrish: [thinks] Well, if you're good at keeping other people alive, and obviously a bit of a risk taker with your own - I think you should be a firefighter.

Laura: [she laughs] I'm too small - at least aesthetically speaking. They'll never let me in.

Parrish: No, you're not actually. They need people who can get into small spaces to help look for trapped people. I think you'd have an advantage too with your hearing. Though the smoke would probably not let your scent work.

Laura: [ she shakes her head] I don't know. I think the idea of me running into burning buildings might give Cora and Derek a heart attack.

Parrish: Oh, right. Yeah, I wasn't thinking about that. Sorry.

Laura: It wasn't a bad idea, though. If things were different.

Parrish: You could join the force? There are vacancies.

Laura: ... Maybe? But I'm not sure how well that paperwork would go, given the whole being dead for over a year thing.

Parrish: Mistaken identity. Happens all the time.

Laura: Is that so?

Parrish: Well, if you have a handsome deputy and a very sympathetic sheriff willing to sign off on the paperwork...

Laura: Hmmm. I I guess that would make things easier. [she makes a face like she's thinking, but her tone is teasing] Sympathetic sheriff I think I have, but where would I find a handsome deputy? [she taps her finger against her chin] I just don't know.

Parrish: I could provide you a lineup and see if any suit your fancy? [smirks behind his beer bottle]

Laura: That's very helpful. I really want to make sure I'm getting the most handsome one of the bunch. I think it'll improve my odds.

Parrish: [nods] Well, you do have to know that some of the guys may look handsome, but they can be real jerks. And then there's a really young adorable one who just has something off about him even if he is charming and endearing.

Laura: Well, charming and endearing can count for a lot. What's so "off" about him?

Parrish: It's this whole thing about how fire just doesn't seem to really do much to him.

Laura: With my history, that could almost be considered a perk.

Parrish: Well, I guess I'll have to introduce you to him next time I think about it.

Laura: You do that.

Parrish: [goes to reach for another slice]

Laura: [takes a bite of her own, chewing for a moment] Do you have ... plans? I mean, do you want to be sheriff or something?

Parrish: I'm usually just happy being a helper, but I wouldn't mind being sheriff one day when Stilinski is ready to step down.

Laura: So you're planning on staying in Beacon Hills for a while, then.

Parrish: Yeah. I like it here when my coworkers aren't trying to kill me.

Laura: That does tend to take the fun out of it.

Parrish: Though I mean really, what other town can you try and defend the city from evil Japanese ninjas.

Laura: [she smiles a bit at that] Only in Beacon Hills. Probably a lot less recently resurrected naked women running around too.

Parrish: You'd be surprised at how many I run into. Men too. [he's been one]

Laura: And here I thought I was special.

Parrish: Well, you came back after more than a year. I think that makes you very special. Chosen even.

Laura: [her smile widens a bit at that] Chosen, huh?

Parrish: Well maybe chooses. Or you could just be lucky. Maybe you should play the lotto and see which one it is.

Laura: I think there are better things to be lucky with than money. [she says as she shifts a bit so that she's sitting closer to him, her back pressed against his shoulder]

Parrish: Mmm true. But money is always nice.

Laura: [she shrugs] I have a lot of money. I don't really have a lot of the other stuff.

Parrish: [gently pets her arm with his hand] So it that something you want to put on the list?

Laura: [she glances back at him with a teasing smirk] Getting lucky?

Parrish: Or getting lucky at love?

Laura: Don't those usually go hand in hand?

Parrish: You can have the first without the second.

Laura: [her head ducks a bit as she nods] I haven't really had the second.

Parrish: Well seeing that you have a second chance, may be worth looking into.

Laura: [she glances back at him, teeth raking over her bottom lip for a moment before nodding] Yeah. Maybe.

Parrish: Of course you'll have to see what you think after you see that lineup.

Laura: True. There could be some interesting prospects there.

Parrish: Guess it just depends on what your into.

Laura: Well, I like nice guys, usually. Friendly, but doesn't put up with my crap.

Parrish: All good things to look for.

Laura: [she shifts to face him a little more, her hand brushing against his chest] Nice eyes are definitely a plus.

Parrish: [smirks a bit] Well that eliminates a few guys already.

Laura: [she nods a bit] Knowing what I am helps. And that whole fireproof thing is handy.

Parrish: Well it was down to me and the sheriff, but I think I have him beat on being fireproof. Unless you have a thing for older guys...

Laura: [wrinkles her nose] I think trying to go for my sister's boyfriend's dad would be a little weird.

Parrish: True, plus I think he's in denial about having a thing for Nurse McCall.

Laura: So I guess that just leaves you, then. [she leans a bit closer, her hand moving up to the side of his neck as her thumb brushes against his jawline] That a problem for you?

Parrish: Well... [he looked up a moment in thought] I may need a bit more convincing.

Laura: Mmmm. [she pauses for a moment, before leaning in and kissing him softly, long and slow.]

Parrish: [there's a soft groan after a moment as he sinks more against the couch, enjoying that kiss]

Laura: [she leans into him as he sinks in, not climbing on top of him yet, but just letting more of her weight rest on him as she deepens the kiss]

Parrish: [his hand is going to cup her cheek and then slide back to hold her neck as he kisses her still, the other hand sliding down to gently hold her waist.]

Laura: [she holds the kiss for a little bit longer, before pulling back with a small smile] How am I doing?

Parrish: [smiles] I think I'm way too easy sometimes.

Laura: [her smile widens a bit, before she tips her head to the side a bit] You get that I really like you, right? [because she's both rusty and new at this all at the same time, and considering how they started she doesn't want to be sending mixed signals. As physical as she can be, it's not just a physical attraction]

Parrish: I get it, but to be honest, I wasn't sure if it was more my hopeful thinking than you actually wanting more. You've been through a lot, so I didn't want to assume.

Laura: No, I know. And ... slow is good, because I'm still figuring out me right now, but ... this, whatever this is, is one of the few things that I have that's actually mine. [everything else she feels like she's borrowing from someone else, while she's still trying to find her feet] And I want to keep that.

Parrish: Then we'll just see where this takes us. But I do like this. And you.

Laura: [the smile turns to a beam, leaning in to kiss him again] Good.

Parrish: [he grins and leans in to kiss her more, the hand on her hip judging her to get closer]

Laura: [she leans into the kiss eagerly, one leg sliding over his hips so that she's straddling his waist]

Parrish: [she would feel his grin grow as he kissed her harder, fingers gripping the back of her neck to keep her there]

Laura: [she sighs softly as she settles against him, her hand resting against his shoulder, playing with the fabric of his shirt]

Parrish: [that's fine. His hands are trying to inch under hers at her waist]

Laura: [there's a hum as he touches her, pushing up into his hands and letting hers start to wander]

Parrish: [his hands slide up higher, running along her ribs, continuing on a slow exploratory path]

Laura: [she moans softly as his hands slide higher, before pulling back from the kiss with a sigh] If we're going to do that, we probably shouldn't do it on the couch.

Parrish: I thought they were gone for the weekend.

Laura: Yeah, but we have rules about ... having the kind of fun we don't want the other to know about in the common areas. Whatever happens in my room, he's not allowed to judge me for.

Parrish: [he isn't really 100% understanding that, but is going to go with that it's a wolf thing] Alright then. Which one is your room?

Laura: [she takes his hand, before climbing off his lap and pulling him towards the stairs]

Parrish: [follows, his eyes taking in the rest of the loft as they go] Does this have roof access too?

Laura: I don't know. [up the stairs they go and down the hall to what was formerly the guest room and now Laura's room. It's still pretty sparse, because she doesn't really have a belongings, but it's starting to fill in. And she's got really nice sheets and blankets] Maybe we should find out later.

Parrish: May be a nice place to have breakfast and look over the city when the sun is rising. [he looks around her room and he makes a mental note to find he something to put in the room next time. Maybe a nice poster or something]

Laura: [she nods a bit, sliding her arms around his waist to pull him closer] We can check it out later.

Parrish: [grins and pulls her closer] So we are getting back to where we left off then?

Laura: [grins in return] That's the plan. [pushes up on her toes to kiss him]

Parrish: [his hands go to her waist, lifting her up to sit on top of the dresser behind her]

Laura: [she goes easily, hooking her legs around his waist, to pull him in closer]

Parrish: [and once she's up and close, his hands are going to guide her shirt up and off before he goes to kiss her again, his hands cupping and kneading her breasts]

Laura: [her head falls back from the kiss, arching up into his hands as her fingers move to tug at the collar of his shirt]

Parrish: [and he's going to kiss along her neck, his hands kneading until he needs to move them out of the way so she can get him free of his shirt as well]

Laura: [has she mentioned that she really loves his abs? Because she really loves his abs. Her head tips forward a bit once their shirts are gone, brushing soft kisses against his shoulder and down his sternum]

Parrish: [you can thank the army and his own semi narcissist desire to continue to look healthy and fit. But he likes her abs too. And everything above and below it. But he is going to pull her hips up against him and she will be able to feel just how much he likes her]

Laura: [moans a bit at the press of him, her fingers digging into the skin of his back, before picking her head up to kiss him again, lifting her hips to rock up into his]

Parrish: [he groans, both from her nail and from the grinding of her hips. His hands are already going for her jeans to work them off after taking a moment to pull a condom from his own back pocket and putting it on the dresser beside her]

Laura: [she uses him as leverage to pull her hips up and help him get the jeans off before going for the fly of his, trying to work them off his hips]

Parrish: [which is easy to do, and he'll step out of the pile of denim, kicking them towards the bed where he had tossed hers. One hand returns to her breast as he leans down to nip at her nipple poking through the fabric of her bra while his other hand goes to cup her sex on the outside of her panties, rubbing against her]

Laura: [his touch draws soft, pleased sounds from her, using her hands to keep him close as her lips continue to wander against his skin. One hand wanders down to the waistband of his underpants, brushing against him through the material]

Parrish: [his hips press into her hand as he lets two fingers slide the material of her panties away and press up inside of her. His knuckles rub against her clit, and he starts to slow thrusting motion]

Laura: [her hips rock into the press of his fingers, fingers circling him more firmly before moving her hand up to tug the material down off his hips and reaching for the condom next to her]

Parrish: [briefs are kicked away as well, and he keeps thrusting his fingers into her as he waits patiently for her to put the condom on him, even if it's taking all his control]

Laura: [she works as quickly as possible, tearing the package open and sliding it on him, before inching closer to the edge of the dresser, giving him a little more leverage to slide inside her.]

Parrish: [which he will do, not bothering to remove her panties for this time, enjoying the feeling of the material sliding along him moments before he is swallowed by her warmth. His hands go to her hips to guide her to a bit better of a position, and then he just starts to thrust into her]

Laura: [she sighs softly as he slides inside her, shifting her hips a bit so that he's got the best angle. One arm snakes around his neck to pull him in closer so that she can kiss him deeply]

Parrish: [his kiss is hard and passionate, caught up in the moment and wanting that connection between him he had really begun to crave on long nights when he was on the overnight shift. The feeling of being inside of her, against her, and it just being them and the rest of the world fades away for a bit]

Laura: [she meets him eagerly in the kiss, fingers trailing over his skin as she tries to meet each of his motions. He makes her feel normal, even though she very clearly isn't. Him being here is just what she needs]

Parrish: [ever since the fire he hasn't felt normal. He's felt off, trying to pretend to be something he clearly wasn't and it wasn't the same. But this - this was something he didn't have to play a part in. This was just what he needed, and he needed Laura. In more ways than just in the sex - even if it was amazing every time]

Laura: [it was amazing every time. And he was someone that she didn't have to worry about reestablishing her relationship or trying to figure out where they stand. They just got to keep building something new, which she needs to balance out all the other change]

Parrish: [it wasn't long before he was speeding up in his thrusts, kissing her harder as he was getting closer to his edge]

Laura: [is right there with him, breaking the kiss for soft pants against his shoulder, lifting her hips to meet his thrusts until she feels herself fall over]

Parrish: [He presses his forehead to her shoulder, and soon he's slowing to a stop, panting against her, his arms wrapping around her and keeping her warm body nice and close against him]

Laura: [she hums softly at the press of him, tipping her head up to press a soft kiss to the nape of his neck]

Parrish: [chuckles and lifts his head up to look at her] Seriously, how are we just this amazing?

Laura: [she grins a bit as she sits up a little more, sliding her arms around his neck] Luck? Skill? Maybe a little of both.

Parrish: Whatever it is, I like it.

Laura: Good. I like it too. [she lifts her head to kiss him softly] And I like you.

Parrish: [he smiles in the kiss] Glad to see we're in agreement on both those topics then. [he pulls her close, and then lifts her off the dresser, shifting to move them to the bed so that they could stretch out]

Laura: [yes, good. That would have been her next suggestion. She lets him take her over, not pulling back until they're at the bed, and she slips away to do said stretching. Her arms stretch back over her head, arching her back a bit like a cat, before relaxing into the blankets next to him.]

Parrish: [and he was going to enjoy her stretching, taking the moment to dispose of the condom and then let his hand run along her stomach as she arches]

Laura: [she hums at the touch, turning into his hand as one hand reaches for the back of his neck to pull him closer]

Parrish: [he'll shift himself closer, smiling] So I don't have to be back on duty until tomorrow night. Wasn't sure if I told you.

Laura: You didn't. Does that mean I get to keep you until then?

Parrish: You can keep me as long as you want, but yes, I can stay until I need to go to work.

Laura: Good. [she leans in to kiss him again, using that leverage to inch herself closer] I think I'll have plenty of use for you.

Parrish: Well, I do like being useful.

Laura: I'm glad.

Parrish: So do you need a little bit of a catnap before we play some more, or you up for more now?

Laura: [pauses as she considers for a moment, fingers running up the line of his spine] I think I've got some more in me.

Parrish: Good. Let's make the most of it then. [and he's going to lean over her and kiss her hard, letting his hands go off wandering again]
