spamalot } { of house warmings and babies
Elena: [Matt has Ellie, so she just shifts the baby carrier with their new son to one side as she knocks on the door]
Stiles: [is in the kitchen trying to follow a recipe to make an actual dinner for the family and blinks as he hears the door.] Crap... Jordan, can you get that? I've got egg all over my hands.
Parrish: Yeah, sure. [he gets up from the couch where he has been working on a case file and goes to answer the door and sees... people he doesn't know but knows that there are guests coming] Hi.
Elena: [her eyes glance over him for a moment before she smiles] Hi. I'm Elena and this is Matt - you must be Jordan?
Parrish: Yes, come in. Can I help you guys with anything? [he moves to the side to let them in.]
Dina: [hears voices. She's 4 and obviously needs to say hi to everyone and so there is a little girl running down the stairs before going over to the door and bouncing excitedly because] Hi Mr. and Mrs. Donovan! Welcome to my new house do you want to see my room it has a SWING in it!
Stiles: [from the kitchen] Dina, they just got here. Give them a minute to breathe.
Elena: [laughs a bit, giving the little girl a bit of a grin] I would love to see it, Dina. Just give me a second to get settled okay? [she makes her way in and shouts in Stiles’ direction] Hi, Stiles.
Stiles: You guys made it in time for dinner, which could be a blessing or a curse. I'm trying to figure out how to bread chicken cutlets.
Matt: [hands off the suitcase of all the baby clothes (and some adult stuff) to Parrish with a thanks, so who goes to take it up to the room they are staying in] Good luck on that, man. The one time I tried to figure that out, the kitchen smelt like burnt bread for a week.
Dina: [looks at the baby carrier] You have a new baby! What's his name?
Elena: [smiles as she sets him down on the floor near the couch. He's out cold from the car ride, but she doesn't mind if Dina sits there with him.] His name is Jacob. He's three months old.
Lydia: Don't let Elena near it either, she will actually burn the kitchen down. [grins at the other woman as she makes her way closer for a hug] I'll be in in a second.
Dina: [looking down at him] He looks like a little doll.
Matt: And now you know why we mostly eat out or microwave food.
Stiles: Thanks Lydia! [and he's going to go back to watching the food network video to teach him how to make the cutlets. The mac & cheese was already done and in the oven staying warm since he was an expert at that. Anyone with a toddler was an expert at mac and cheese]
Elena: [hugs Lydia back tightly and there may be a whispered comment about Parrish in Lydia's ear that Elena gets lightly smacked for. Elena just grins at her before moving to sit next to Dina] Do you want to sit with him?
Lydia: [heads towards the kitchen, giving Parrish's hand a squeeze she passes and disappearing inside] Alright, how far did you get?
Dina: Does he squirm a lot? Noah always squirms when I hold him.
Parrish & Matt: [are just going to get to know each other and the talk dissolves into sports and Parrish is all like FINALLY SOMEONE WHO SPEAKS MY LANGUAGE!]
Stiles: Okay, I got them breaded and I have the oil going. So I think I'm just supposed to put them in, wait a minute, flip, and repeat until the coating is a nice brown color and it's done. Sounds simple. I can do this.
Lydia: [nods a bit in agreement] Yep. That's basically it. Just take a deep breath and relax.
Elena: [smiles a bit at the sports commiseration, before nodding to Dina as she takes Jacob out of the carrier] A little bit, but that just means he's happy.
Stiles: [takes a deep breath and does just that] One thing about not living with the Hales anymore is learning to fend for myself food wise again. But I totally got this. [and he will. Though as the oil gets hotter he's going to fret that he's burning things]
Dina: [jumps on the couch, making a big lap for Elena to put Jacob on just like Auntie Allison taught her]
Lydia: [and she will keep an eye on him and make sure things don't go up in flames]
Elena: [shifts Jacob a bit so that she can set him down on Dina's lap, before settling next to her on the couch] There you go. [as she lets him go, he starts to open his eyes, making a bit of a scrunched face as he does.] Rise and shine, sleepyhead. You've got a new friend.
Dina: Hi Jacob. [said in a tiny voice, holding the baby carefully] I'm Dina.
Jacob: [looks up at her with big eyes stretching one arm out in front of him before shoving his fist in his mouth to nom on]
Elena: [smiles a bit] We think that means nice to meet you.
Dina: Noah does that too, but Auntie Allison says it means he's hungry.
Elena: That's probably true too, but Jacob usually likes to wait a while to eat after he wakes up.
Dina: Do you feed him with a bottle or with your boob?
Stiles: Dina! [he heard that]
Elena: [laughs a bit] It's okay. We're starting to move him to bottles now.
Dina: Uncle Yoyo says that babies who drink from boobs are smarter than babies that drink from bottles.
Stiles: [is not even going to ask how Yoyo brought that up to his daughter, nope, but he will be talking to Yoyo later]
Elena: That is true - or at least that's what the scientists say.
Dina: Don't you want to have a smart baby though?
Stiles: Oh my god... Elena, I'm sorry.
Elena: [she laughs] No, it's okay. [she turns back to Dina] I do want to have a smart baby. But he also can't only have breastmilk forever. He needs other nutrients too, so we're starting to get him used to other food.
Dina: Like mac and cheese?
Elena: And fruits and vegetables and pizza and ice cream.
Dina: You're going to be a good mommy.
Elena: [a big smile] Thank you. But you're going to get a good mommy too.
Dina: I know. [big grin] She is much better than my last mommy.
Elena: [brushes a hand over the top of her head] That's what I've heard. I'm glad you'll get to have her.
Dina: Me too. I love Cora.
Elena: She loves you too. So much.
Dina: And then when she's my mommy she can have a baby too and I can finally have a little sister.
Stiles: [and that is the sound of something dropping]
Lydia: [and a bit of a squeak as whatever he drops almost ands on her]
Elena: [smirks a bit] Well, it might not be a sister. It could be a little brother.
Stiles: Sorry, sorry... [is picking it up and really, Dina?]
Dina: But I want a sister.
Elena: That's not something they can pick, sweetie.
Dina: They can keep trying. Auntie Allison to Aunt Lydia that she would keep trying to get a girl...
Stiles: AND ON THAT NOTE..... dinner is served.
Elena: [laughs before reaching for Jacob so that Dina can go get ready for dinner] Maybe they will.
Cora: [and with perfect timing, Cora swings in from her trip to her mom's house to find Donovans] Oh my God, you're here already.
Matt: Hey Cora. [goes to hug her because Jordan apparently has the little girl now]
Dina: I'll go wash my hands Daddy! [and off the toddler goes]
Stiles: [waits until she's upstairs and the water is running before looking at the adults] So I'm going to have a drink. What about the rest of you?
Cora: [yay hugs! Because yes, Ellie is happily charming the young deputy] ... Already?
Elena: Apparently you're going to keep trying until Dina has a baby sister.
Cora: I'll take one.
Stiles: [he points at her and winks before heading to the wine rack]
Parrish: [is easily charmed, bouncing the toddler on his hip] I could use a beer.
Matt: Beer for me.
Elena: I'm good.
Lydia: Wine for me.
Cora: [pulls back to put down her stuff and head towards Elena] Let me see him. [and she's going to get some quality Jacob time before dinner]
Stiles: [and he goes to pour three glasses of red wine and pets them at the table, then goes to get two beers. Then a glass of water and finally a strawed cup with grape juice in it for Dina] Well, dinner is pretty much ready. Just waiting on the green beans.
Elena: Can I help with anything? I can't cook, but I can carry stuff.
Cora: [is just going to be hanging out with Jacob, no big deal. he's resting on her hip and he's got one of her fingers caught in his hand]
Stiles: No, you're guests. You guys just hang out and chill. You'll be surprised but I'm actually good at doing this whole house host thing.
Elena: [holds up her hands] Then do your thing.
Matt: [and yeah, he and Parrish will go back to football talk unless they are needed at all in the upcoming dinner conversation. They are totally bros]
Dina: [ coming back down with her leapfrog tablet because she is allowed to play with it after dinner in the living room while the adults are still eating] I'm ready for dinner!
Elena: [will eventually come and relieve Parrish of Ellie if she's willing to part with him] Let's eat.
Parrish: [he notices that and laughs] Lydia, you may want to be careful. I think this little one is trying to claim me as her own.
Elena: [sighs heavily, laughing a bit] Ellie, this is the textbook definition of "Too old for you."
Ellie: [realizes she's being talked about and lets him go, burying her face in her mother's shoulder, embarrassed.]
Matt: Well, at least she's got good taste. [pats Parrish on the arm] Takes after her mom.
Stiles: [helps Dina to her seat]
Elena: [and eventually they all settle around the table and start eating and Elena is going to turn her sights on Parrish, sorry in advance] So Jordan, how long have you been in Beacon Hills?
Parrish: I transferred here almost two years ago now, I think.
Elena: Do you like it here?
Parrish: Yeah. I just felt drawn here and it feels right. It feels like this is where I'm meant to be. [smiles at Lydia]
Lydia: [there's a small smile back]
Elena: [DON'T THINK SHE DIDN'T NOTICE THAT BECAUSE SHE TOTALLY DID AND SHE TOTALLY APPROVES SHE'S JUST SAYING] So how did you meet these guys?
Parrish: I'm a deputy. I work with Stiles' father and Isaac. [because he assumes you all know Isaac]
Stiles: He ended up being drafted for protecting the Sheriff's son rotation at one point too.
Elena: Oh, okay. With the whole Suzanna thing?
Stiles: Yup. [cutting Dina's food for her]
Matt: Yeah, we heard a bit about that. Sorry, man.
Stiles: Hey, it's in my past. I'm just focusing on the future. [smiles at Cora]
Elena: Which is good. The future is definitely looking bright.
Cora: [returns the smile with one of her own as she nibbles on her own food]
Stiles: Future's so bright, gotta wear shades.
Matt: [snorts]
Elena: [smirks a bit, taking a few more bites of her food, before innocently asking as she sips her water] So how long have you and Lydia been dating?
Parrish: [damnit, Stiles had almost distracted her away] Um... [looks at her] Two months... it wasn't really something that just had a first date that set it off though...
Lydia: [eye roll, before giving Elena a look that says "really?"]
Elena: [please, she is like a dog with a bone. She smirks back at her, before waving a hand] It's good. Hopefully you'll keep it up.
Parrish: I'm not.... planning on stopping anytime soon. [confused puppy]
Lydia: [sighs as she reaches over and pats his hand] Just ignore her.
Elena: Can't I be excited that you're happy?
Lydia: You could be less obnoxious about it.
Elena: I was just as bad with Cora, ask Stiles.
Stiles: I'm staying out of this.
Matt: Ditto.
Cora: She was pretty awful. Though I think with me it was worse because she knew Stiles and I had history.
Elena: [she shrugs] I'm a happily ever after kind of girl.
Dina: Like fairy tales?
Elena: [grins at her] Just like fairy tales.
Dina: I like fairy tales. Will that make me a real princess if daddy and Cora are a fairy tale?
Elena: Not exactly. But close enough.
Dina: Oh. [pouts]
Stiles: [leans over to kiss her forehead] You'll always be my little princess.
Dina: [smiles] Okay.
Elena: [smiles a bit at that] That's the best kind of princess to be.
Matt: [smiles and gives Ellie more mac & cheese on her plate, leaning over to kiss the top of her head]
Stiles: Now finish your dinner, princess, and you can go play with your leapfrog for an hour tonight.
Dina: [and she is going to wolf down her food then]
Ellie: [!!!!! MAC AND CHEESE OM NOM NOM and they just do a lot of eating and talking and all that until it's time to put the babies to bed]
Stiles: [and he's putting Dina down, which is taking longer every night because Dina is totally getting her dad's ADHD and getting her to sleep is becoming a challenge]
Cora: [pokes her head in after a while] Need a hand?
Dina: [crawling over her father] I need another glass of water. I drank mine already.
Stiles: [mouths OH MY GOD HELP ME at her]
Cora: [sighs as she makes her way over and slides in the other side of her, catching Dina around the waist and pulling her back with a grin] If you drink too much water then you'll have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.
Dina: [giggles] No rubber sheets! I don't want rubber sheets!
Stiles: Then no more water tonight.
Dina: But what if I swallow a spider while I'm sleeping. I need to have something to drink if I swallow a spider, daddy.
Stiles: You won't swallow a spider.
Cora: [keeps her arms around her and smooths a hand over the top of her head] There are no spiders here, trust me.
Dina: Then what's that. [points at the corner of her room]
Stiles: [looks up and] Oh my god what the hell is that!
Cora: [looks up as well and squints at it] A praying mantis. That's very different from a spider.
Dina: Why is the mantis praying?
Stiles: Yeah, um Cora can you handle that?
Cora: [glances over at him with an amused look, before releasing Dina and grabbing a chair so that she can get it out]
Dina: I wanna see too. [is going to try and follow Cora]
Stiles: No, stay in the bed with me.
Dina: But I wanna seeeeeeeee.
Cora: [quickly snatches it and heads to the bathroom to flush it, when she returns after drying her hands she gives her a small smile] I'll show you a picture in a book.
Dina: [flops dramatically on the bed] But why was it praying, Daddy?
Stiles: Because it was bedtime and it was going to go to sleep. Like you're supposed to be doing.
Dina: But I’m not sleepy. [yawns as she says that]
Cora: [slides back on the other side of her again] I think you're a little sleepy.
Dina: Nuh uh. [wiggles a bit to get between them again]
Stiles: I think Cora's right. And if you don't sleep, the next day isn't going to get here, and we'll never have our party.
Cora: And we've done so much planning, it would really stink if we didn't have our party, don't you think so?
Dina: I was going to have a tea party in my room. [rolls over in her spot] I want my tea party...
Cora: [brushes a hand soothingly over the top of her head] If you want to have that, you definitely need to sleep, or we'll be stuck in tonight forever.
Dina: [whines] I don't want to be stuck here foreverrrrrr.
Stiles: Then you should close your eyes and start counting those sheep until tomorrow comes.
Cora: [nods in agreement, keeping those soft touches] If you close your eyes and keep them closed, the next thing you know it'll be tomorrow.
Dina: [sighs and does it, and starts counting. to ten. then one one, and one two, and one three...]
Stiles: [makes mental note to teach her double digits soon]
Cora: [smiles a bit at that, and just keeps stroking her hair as she counts]
Dina: [and she eventually fades out and by two four she's out]
Stiles: [moves to lean over and kiss her forehead, sliding out of the bed] Goodnight, baby.
Cora: [slowly slips out after him and finishes tucking her in, before making her way towards the door]
Stiles: [takes her hand and slides out the door, turning off the lamp and closing the door before leaning against the wall] Remind me to like, get my dad whatever he wants for Father's day for the rest of his life.
Cora: [smiles a bit before moving closer, her hands resting against his sides] Will do. [glances up at him] You okay?
Stiles: Yeah, I'm fine. Just seeing me life flashing forward and what that tiny creature is going to be capable of in a few years if she follows down my path. She's going to take over the world, I swear.
Cora: That can be a good thing.
Stiles: Yeah. Daughter rules the world, I'll get the best old man's home in the world to take care of me. [chuckles]
Cora: [she laughs] And you'll have me.
Stiles: Oh yeah, that's a given. Though I'm going to grow old and wrinkly and you'll forever look like you're in your twenties.
Cora: Not forever. I do actually age, you know.
Stiles: I know. But I look at your mother and she could be your older sister.
Cora: [a look] She's not that young looking.
Stiles: [laughs] Alright, alright, whatever you say, dear.
Cora: [grins as she leans in to kiss him] Exactly.
Stiles: [kisses her back, smiling] I love you.
Cora: I love you too.
Stiles: Guess we have to go downstairs to entertain our guests.
Cora: Maybe Elena and Matt will crash early.
Stiles: Maybe. We did tell them the rooms have been soundproofed too, right? In case they want to have a mommy daddy night of their own?
Cora: I think we did.
Stiles: Good. [leans in to kiss her, taking her hand and then going to lead her downstairs]
Parrish: [ is going to longue on the couch because YEAH NO BABIES HERE]
Lydia: [waits until Elena is gone before going to sit on the couch next to him] I'm sorry.
Parrish: Nah, it's fine. Your friends are nice.
Lydia: [nods a bit] They mean well, for the most part.
Parrish: [goes to take her hand, smiling] I'm sure they do. I'm just more used to giving the interrogation than being the one in the hot seat.
Lydia: They do know how to turn the tables pretty quickly.
Parrish: At least I'm good under pressure.
Lydia: [and she and Parrish are still on the couch when Stiles and Cora come down, but Elena and Matt are nowhere to found] There's one set of parents.
Cora: [glances up to the door] It shouldn't have taken them this long. Ellie was pretty much out.
Stiles: They could have just been exhausted from the long trip and turned in early?
Parrish: I wouldn't blame them. Two little ones have to be a handful on car trips.
Cora: [she nods before heading upstairs] I'll go check on them.
Lydia: [nods, before turning to Stiles] Still having a hard time getting Dina down?
Stiles: [rubs at his eyes] Yeah. If it keeps getting worse... I don't want to drug my child but I don't know if I can keep up with her.
Lydia: Have you talked to a doctor yet?
Stiles: No, she has her checkup next week.
Lydia: Ask him about it then. Maybe there's another way around it.
Stiles: Maybe. [he rubs his face though, because well, there was a bottle of Adderall in his medicine cabinet for a reason] Maybe.
Parrish: She's a good kid, stiles. A little hyper, but a good kid. Maybe it's just a phase.
Lydia: It's true. She could calm down eventually.
Cora: [returns from the stairs] They are passed out with Ellie out cold between them. I think we're done entertaining for the evening.
Stiles: Or she will be my child and drive me to drinking by the time she's eight. [not that Stiles doesn't drink now]
Cora: [brushes her hand against his shoulders as he moves to sit next to him] We'll figure it out.
Stiles: We will. But I think I'm going to cut down significantly on her sugar intake. See if that helps.
Lydia: Always a good start.
Stiles: Well, may as well head to bed. We have a lot of party stuff to do tomorrow.
Parrish: And I have a morning shift.
Cora: Then let's go to bed. See you guys in the morning.
Lydia: [nods before taking Parrish's hand to pull him away]
Parrish: [is easily pulled away] I'll try to be quiet when I leave. Not like you can hear me when you're in the rooms and all.
Stiles: I appreciate the offer though. Night guys. [and he'll get up and pull Cora with him]
Cora: [goes with and they go off to do all their adult fun things]
Lydia: [pulls him upstairs, letting go of his hand once they're inside her bedroom. She would be lying if she said she wasn't nervous, but she's not acting like it. Or trying, anyway. She swallows and goes towards her drawers, before pointing to the door that lead to her bathroom] I'm going to change. I'll be right back.
Parrish: Alright. I um, put my uniform in there so I wouldn't disturb the Donovans so if you need to move it... [and he's going to unbutton his top]
Lydia: [she shakes her head] No, it's fine. Just give me a second. [and with that she'll disappear through the door and quickly get dressed]
Parrish: [and he will be stripped down to his boxers and a t-shirt at that point, looking for where he put his sleep pants]
Lydia: [and she wanders back, clothes neatly folded, glances to him for a moment and diverts her eyes as she heads towards the dresser] Everything okay?
Parrish: Yeah, I just can't find my sweats. I thought I brought them in here.
Lydia: [glances to help before pointing to the chair on the opposite side of the room] There?
Parrish: [turns to look and oh there they are!] Thanks. [and he is going to cover that butt with baggy police sweats]
Lydia: [which is a shame because it's a nice butt, but she's going to keep that to herself and slide into bed.]
Parrish: [and he's going to slide into bed too. And look up at the ceiling because nope, not awkward at all]
Lydia: [stretches out next to him and takes a deep breath, because wow, how do they do this without the sex part first. She exhales slowly before glancing to him] Do, um. Are you okay on that side of the bed?
Parrish: No, no this is fine. You have a good mattress. Very…firm.
Lydia: ... Thanks. [she stays there for a moment drumming her fingers against the top of her hand for a long silence, before she closes her eyes] This is stupid. [she turns to face him, placing her hand on his chest to get his attention] Do you spoon?
Parrish: [turns to look at her, thinking an answer] I can, though it's sometimes more like a spork...
Lydia: [rolls her eyes a bit, though it's slightly amused] Big spoon or little spoon?
Parrish: [smiles back] Big.
Lydia: Which side do you prefer to lie on?
Parrish: I'm good on this side. [he turns a bit to face her, reaching over to run a finger along her cheek]
Lydia: [smiles a bit, before shifting to curl onto her side, taking his arm and pulling him so that his front was flush against her back]
Parrish: [he shifted to curl against her, his hand finding hers and going to tread his fingers with hers] This is much better.
Lydia: [she nods a bit, glancing back over her shoulder at him] Much.
Parrish: [leans over her shoulder a bit to give her a kiss] Good.
Lydia: [she leans a bit into the kiss, sighing softly] I'm glad you stayed.
Parrish: I am too. I'll admit I was worried you may second guess wanting to be with me if we had to live together.
Lydia: [shakes her head a bit] Not even a little.
Parrish: I'm not the cleanest guy.
Lydia: Clean enough.
Parrish: As long as the Donovans don't need to use the closet.
Lydia: [she laughs a bit] I think they'll manage without it.
Parrish: I hope so. I need to do laundry still.
Lydia: I think it'll be fine.
Parrish: Good. [and he's going to nestle a bit closer to her]
Lydia: [sighs softly, letting herself settle a little more. It was nice, having him close like this, and she just closes her eyes, doing her best to relax and enjoy it]
Parrish: [he'll end up nuzzling against her head and smiled] Your hair smells very fruity.
Lydia: [smiles a bit, blinking her eyes back open at him again] It's my shampoo.
Parrish: I like it.
Lydia: Me too. Makes me feel tropical.
Parrish: I may have to use some of it in the morning.
Lydia: [laughs a bit] You want a more fruity touch?
Parrish: Well, it's also very soft, and I mean, you obviously put a lot of thought into your shampoo choices.
Lydia: Well, my hair is my most defining feature. It's important to take care of it.
Parrish: Then I will do my best not to eat it while I'm sleeping.
Lydia: [she laughs] I would appreciate that.
Parrish: I'll try not to disturb you in the morning when I get up for work.
Lydia: I won't mind if you do.
Parrish: Yeah, but I'll at least try not to. [kisses her shoulder] But we should probably go to sleep.
Lydia: [she nods a bit] Good night.
Parrish: Night. [and he will snuggle into her back to get to sleep]
Lydia: [she will do the same, drifting off comfortably in his arms]
Parrish: [and he will try and extract himself in the morning to get ready for work, but his arm is trapped under her]
Lydia: [had rolled over in her sleep and was nestled against him, definitely not making that easy for him. But she's also tiny so easily movable if he really wants to]
Parrish: [no, no he really doesn't want to move her. He's actually sorely tempted to call out sick, but his boss would be at the loft tonight so probably not the smartest play. But he is going to rub her back gently with his trapped hand before slowly trying to pull it out from under her]
Lydia: [she makes a soft noise of protest as he moves away from her but she doesn't wake up, and just rolls into the warm spot he left behind]
Parrish: [he looks at her in the bed like that, raking his teeth over his lips. finally, he just goes to settle the blanket over her better, brushing her hair away from her face and mouth, and then kissing her cheek]
Lydia: [there's a look that might just be a small smile on her face, but she stays asleep]
Parrish: [and he's going to slip into the bathroom to shower and get ready for work]
Lydia: [will peacefully sleep through it, but Cora may have coffee for him down in the kitchen]
Parrish: [and he will jog down the stairs and smell the coffee] You, are amazing.
Cora: [smirks a bit, before nudging a mug over to him] Happy to help. I figured we all were going to need it.
Parrish: Oh, I'm sure. Well, I have the eight to four shift, so if you need anything last minute, just text me and I'll pick it up on my way back.
Cora: Will do. I'd pick up ice just to be on the safe side.
Parrish: Ice I can do. [puts the lid on the travel mug] See you guys later.
Cora: [waves him off before going back to making breakfast]
Stiles: [is going to stumble out soon after, making zombie noises and arms towards the kitchen]
Cora: [and she will just place a cup of coffee in his hand, just how he likes it] Morning.
Stiles: [grumble grumble sips his coffee] Okay, language setting reset to English.
Cora: [smirks a bit] How'd you sleep?
Stiles: Like the dead. You wore me out and I died and came back as a zombie, but with the power of coffee I live once more.
Cora: Coffee is a magical thing. [leans in to kiss him softly] Hungry.
Stiles: [kisses her back, smiling] Always. Depends on what you're serving.
Cora: I was debating between eggs and pancakes.
Stiles: Pancakes. I'm always going to go for pancakes.
Cora: Pancakes it is.
Stiles: Can I help?
Cora: [she nods] See if there's any bacon in the fridge?
Stiles: [goes to look, trying to see around the party food that needs to be prepared later] Bacon... bacon... where is the .... oh hey I didn't know we had these. [and yes, that is a mini sausage being popped into his mouth and then a hand holding out the bacon package to her] Here you go.
Cora: [smirks a bit as she takes the bacon before going back to her pancake mixing]
Stiles: [and he is going to have a handful of mini sausage bites and go over to feed her one while she is cooking]
Cora: [chews and swallows] Thank you.
Stiles: You're welcome. [he's totally snuggling up behind her, resting his chin on her shoulder watching her cook]
Cora: [leans back against him] Dina up yet?
Stiles: If she is, she's being very quiet.
Cora: Is that possible?
Stiles: She may be trying to do some evil experiment with pixie stix and soda.
Cora: And therefore wants to remain undetected?
Stiles: I should probably go upstairs and check on her before she explodes the loft then.
Cora: [nods a bit] Good plan. Maybe we can get her and Ellie playing today to distract her.
Stiles: Maybe we can. I don't know if Scott and Allison is bringing the kids.
Cora: There's no reason why they can't. It wouldn't make any sense for them to get a babysitter with so many other kids around. [starts pouring out pancakes into the pan] Besides, all the usual babysitters will be here.
Stiles: I just will make sure Dina knows there are rules about swing use while the party is going on.
Cora: Definitely only with adult supervision.
Stiles: [feeds Cora the last sausage, and then kisses her cheek] I'll be back in a bit, probably with the blonde firecracker.
Cora: I'll make sure I have pancakes ready.
Stiles: Awesome. [and he's going to go upstairs to find Dina sprawled out on her bed painting. With paints. That are now also all over her, the sheets and the comforter.]
Dina: Daddy! I made Ms. Talia a picture! [and it's a picture of the Hale house. in bright pink and green with stick figure people outside]
Stiles: [hand over his mouth, nodding because wow that is a lot of paint] It's very nice, baby. Why aren't you painting at your table?
Dina: Because I get better pictures in my head when I'm laying in bed and I didn't want to forget it when I got to the table.
Ellie: [is slowly making her way down the opposite spiral staircase, taking it one step at a time] Aunt Cora ... ?
Cora: [glances over] Hey, Ellie. Are you hungry?
Ellie: [blond head bobs with a grin as she makes her way closer] I smell pancakes.
Cora: Very good. Go sit at the table and I'll make you a plate.
Dina: [comes running downstairs a moment later, paint covering her face and hair still in spots, but he hands are clean] Daddy says he will be down once he's done cleaning and not to wait for him. [sees Ellie and smiles] Hi Ellie!
Ellie: [waves her hand] Hi.
Cora: Okay, Dina, pancakes are up. Why don't you go knock on Lydia's door and see if she's hungry? [glances back down to the blond girl leaning against her leg] Were your parents up, Ellie?
Ellie: [nods a bit] Mommy was in the bat-room and Daddy was playing with his phone.
Cora: Okay, then they should be down in a bit.
Dina: Okay! [and running across the house, up the stairs, and knocking on Lydia's door] Auntie Lydia! We're having pancakes!
Lydia: [sighs as she pulls herself awake] Alright, I'll be down in a minute.
Elena: [makes her way out the door] Morning, Dina.
Dina: Hi! Ellie's downstairs already and we're having pancakes.
Elena: Perfect. I love pancakes.
Dina: Then you had better hurry because I love them too.
Elena: I am right behind you. Let me just get Mr. Donovan.
Dina: Okay! [and she's running down the stairs.]
Stiles: [coming down the other set, tossing a garbage bag at the door to take out before heading to the kitchen] Too early to start drinking, right?
Cora: [nods a bit] Little bit. I saw the paint.
Stiles: I need to go out and pick up a new bedset before tonight.
Cora: Eat first. We have time. [hands him the platter of bacon to take to the table]
Elena: [comes downstairs with Jacob on her hip] Need a hand with anything?
Stiles: No, we have it. Come, eat, relax. Be our guest, be our guest... put our service to the test... [and he puts the bacon down on the table]
Ellie: [brightens instantly] Mommy, he's singing the candle song.
Elena: [grins] Yes, he is. [to Stiles] Beauty and the Beast is her favorite.
Ellie: 'Cept for the bad parts.
Dina: Gaston is a miss-egg-shine-est and Daddy says that if any guy tries to date me I'm supposed to slap them. [nods]
Ellie: [blinks a little, confused] But Gaston eats the eggs, he doesn't shine them.
Dina: He makes people shine them for him because he's a bad man and can't shine his own eggs.
Ellie: Oooooooh. [wrinkles her nose] Why would you shine eggs?
Dina: To color them, of course.
Ellie: Like ... like Easter eggs, that the Easter bunny leaves behind?
Dina: Yup. Only Gaston keeps all the eggs for himself. He doesn't share. And then he eats them.
Ellie: My mom says he's a boogie.
Dina: He's snot?
Ellie: I guess so.
Dina: Eww.
Ellie: Definitely.
Stiles: [looks at Elena] And this is why I shouldn't watch Disney movies while I'm focused on coding.
Elena: [laughs] Hey. Learning to spot misogyny starts young.
Stiles: True. [smiles] As does avoiding men who shine eggs.
Elena: Indeed. [back to the children] C'mon girls, let's get you seated.
Stiles: [and they can all sit and have breakfast]
Elena: [yep. om nom nom pancakes]
Stiles: [and then he will go out and get new bed stuff for Dina, and be back in time to clean up her room and join Cora and Lydia in prepping the house so everything is ready when the family and friends start to arrive.]
Cora: [she and Lydia are flopped on the couch, waiting for someone to knock on the door] Hey, Dina, would you be okay with sharing your room with the other kids for today?
Dina: As long as they don't break anything.
Stiles: Well, there are going to be runs about the swing and no one can use it without an adult there.
Cora: Yeah, you have to remember that, okay?
Dina: No swing without a grown up. Okay. [she's pouting a bit though] Even me?
Stiles: Even you, but just for tonight.
Dina: Okay.
Cora: There are going to be too many little kids, sweetie. We just don't want anyone to get hurt.
Dina: I know.
[and there is a knock on the door. and voices. A bunch of voices and they are all Hales. and eventually they'll even get some Lockwoods and McCalls and Stilinskis too. and everyone will get to oo and aahh over the loft even if they haven't already been there once or twice already]
Dina: [running up to Talia] I made you a picture, Ms. Talia!
Talia: Did you? [she's sitting on the couch so she pulls Dina to sit up next to her] Show me.
Dina: Uh huh. Daddy got it a frame too. [and she holds the picture out]
Talia: [takes the picture from her with a smile] It's lovely. What's it a picture of?
Dina: Your house! And that's you. [she started to point at all the stick figures] And Mr. Thomas, and Laura and Jason.... [and after listing off all the Hales, she points at the dog stick figure and giggles] And Peter.
Talia: [she laughs a bit at that] You will have to show Peter when he gets here.
Dina: Okay, but he can't have it because I made it for you.
Talia: [she nods] I'll make sure it comes home with me, I promise.
Dina: Good. [snuggles against her] I miss living with you.
Talia: [kisses the top of her head] I miss you too, sweetheart. But you have a great new place to live now.
Dina: I know. But it doesn't have you. There is a bedroom next to me. You and Thomas can move in there.
Talia: Oh really?
Dina: Uh huh. And Ms. Cora and Daddy said that the walls are made of special stuff so that people can't hear you when you're in them.
Talia: That is true. But I think if Cora and your dad wanted to still be living with me, they would have stayed at my house.
Dina: Oh.
Talia: [she smooths a hand over the top of her head] Just because you're far away doesn't mean I love you any less. And I'm sure that if you wanted, your dad would let you sleep over with me any time.
Dina: Would that be okay? I miss your stories and the cookies too.
Talia: It would be more than okay with me. We would just have to check with your dad.
Dina: He will say yes. I know he will.
Talia: Good. So if you ever feel like you want to stay with me, you just have your dad call me and let me know.
Dina: Okay. [and she's smiling brightly]
Talia: [smiles back] Good. I'll have your room all ready for you.
Dina: [hugs Talia around the neck and kisses her cheek] I love you.
Talia: [hugs her just as tightly] I love you, too, sweetheart.
Dina: Did you see my room yet?
Talia: I did not. Would you like to show me?
Dina: Yes! [and she will drag Talia upstairs to see the room where some of the kids are already hanging out playing]
Talia: [follows her lead, looking around the rest of the apartment as she goes. Once they get to the door, she hangs back in the doorway so that she doesn't step on tiny children] This is beautiful, Dina.
Dina: And now that you're here, we have an adult to watch us use the swing! [evil child genius wins yet again]
Talia: [laughs a bit] Alright, but you still have to be careful. [and with that she'll wander over to the rocking chair in the corner and scoop up Noah as she goes]
Stiles: [hears the children cheering and goes upstairs to see Talia in the rocking chair and laughs] It looks like you became the first victim.
Talia: So it seems. [It takes a moment for Noah to settle in her lap before she glances up at him] I don't mind though. If it's going to be someone, better someone with alpha werewolf reflexes.
Stiles: Well, at least they did listen to the rules. [goes over to kiss Talia's cheek since he didn't get to greet her properly when she got here] How have you been?
Talia: [small smile as she nods] Well enough. The house is back to being quiet again.
Stiles: Well, school's out for the summer. Once August hits, you'll get all the kids again when Cora and Lydia aren't available to babysit any longer.
Talia: [she nods] I know. And it is nice having some of the time to myself.
Stiles: I know exactly what you mean. [smiles and looks at the blonde pushing Ryan on the swing set]
Talia: [there's a small smile at that] She giving you a run for your money?
Stiles: She is taking after me in way more ways that I was expecting and to be honest it's quite terrifying.
Talia: How do you mean?
Stiles: Tiny evil genius bent on taking over the world. But I think she's getting my ADHD. That or I feed her way too much sugar.
Talia: Ah. [she nods a bit] How young did you start to show signs?
Stiles: Dad will tell you from before I was born. But I think I was five? The pre-K teacher told mom to get me tested, or at least that's how I heard it.
Talia: [nods a bit] Well, if you need a break, I told her she's welcome to sleep over every time - but I also said that you had to be the one to call me. Just in case she decides to conveniently forget that part.
Stiles: I upgraded my password software on my cell phone to make sure she can't unlock it. Which means she'll have to borrow one of the girls'. But that works.
Talia: I'll make sure to pay attention to where she's calling from.
Stiles: I love her to death, but I'm so not underestimating the power of her mind.
Talia: You'd be wise not to.
Stiles: Well, if you need relief, just shout. Half the household will hear you.
Talia: I'm sure I'll be fine.
Stiles: Alright, but even alphas have to pee. [he grinned] So just, you know, call out. [and he's going to leave her and head downstairs to the rest of the party]
Cora: [where his fiancée is sitting with Lucy, the one child that hadn't been escorted away to Dina's room. Her niece is sitting in her lap, kicking her legs happily as she babbles, clearly talking to Cora about Very Important Things.]
Stiles: [and is just going to kinda stop and stare at that a bit, because nope, Cora and a baby is just giving him feels]
Derek: [putting a hand on Stiles' shoulder] Stiles.
Stiles: [jumps] Holy crap why do you still do that to me?
Derek: [smirks] Because you still react.
Cora: [if she notices, she doesn't react, keeping her attention on the baby for right now]
Stiles: Well, you can stop any time, you know.
Derek: I will. One day. [looks at his sister] You know, it's nice seeing her happy again. Once upon a time, I had been worried that her falling in love with a human was a mistake.
Stiles: [confused as to where this is going] .... And now?
Derek: Now I know better. And I'm glad you two found your way back to each other. She was downright miserable without you.
Stiles: She wasn't the only one.
Scott: Yeah, trust me, you didn't want to have to deal with that one during the first year. [goes to give Stiles a noogie and he fights off his brother]
Stiles: Hey, hey watch the hair.
Allison: [rolls her eyes as she heads back past them to Cora] She can probably hear you, you know.
Derek: I'm aware of that. [smirks]
Stiles: [pushes Scott away] Dude, you suck.
Scott: Hey, just speaking the truth.
Stiles: Yeah, well it's the past now. And this place is to give us a future, so can we just skip rehashing the bad life choices I made in my senior year?
Scott: Sure.
Stiles: Thank you.
Scott: I'm saving that for my second best man speech anyway.
Derek: [laughs]
Stiles: Fine, then I'm reneging the offer. Isaac can be my best man.
Isaac: [as he is arriving] I'm what now?
Malia: [is carrying Cameron] Do you really think having either of these idiots as your best man will save you from an embarrassing speech?
Stiles: Depends. Malia, will you make a horrible embarrassing speech about me at my wedding?
Malia: Sorry. Cora already has dibs on me.
Stiles: Damnit.
Malia: Besides. I would have been twice as bad. Trust me.
Stiles: Why are you all my friends? Yo Matt, you're my new best friend.
Tyler: Sorry, he's taken.
Malia: [laughs a bit] Oh, relax. Your last wedding was a total snore. This one actually stands a chance of being fun.
Stiles: Wait…my wedding wasn't boring...
Malia: [her eyebrows go up a bit at that] It was a total snore.
Allison: I wouldn't say it was a snore but it was definitely ... cold.
Stiles: Okay, I mean Suzanna was a bit controlling of every... single detail...
Scott: Dude, she edited my best man speech.
Stiles: [blinks] Wait, she what?
Malia: Did you really think that Scott, boy who has known you since you were five, was going to be that polite during the best man speech?
Stiles: I had... been hoping?
Scott: Sorry, man. I didn't know you didn't know.
Stiles: [licks his lips, then nods and shrugs] Just, go easy on me, alright?
Scott: Sure. [looks at Isaac who's smirking just out of Stiles' line of sight] Sure, man.
Malia: [smirks] As I said. This wedding is going to be way better.
Stiles: I'll admit I have a few ideas already playing in my head. Here, let me hold Cam for a bit so you can get something to eat. [but he's going to hold his hands out to Malia for the baby because BABY]
Malia: [will happily hand him over. Stiles is pack, therefore he's safe.] Thank you. I am starving - I'll be right back.
Stiles: [and he's going to dissolve into baby talk at Cam while the rest of the boys disperse to mingle]
Cora: [is going to pass Lucy off to Fiona when she passes, before shifting to watch him with Cameron and have a few feelings herself.]
Peter: [and this would be arriving fashionably late, and alone with a small package and zeroing on his niece] Hello, sweetheart.
Cora: [looks up at him with a smile] Hey. You made it.
Peter: I did, but Nadia sends her regards. She wasn't feeling well this afternoon and didn't want to bring the atmosphere down.
Cora: [nods a bit] Of course. [and she'll push up to hug him] I think Mom was roped into being the swing chaperone by Dina.
Peter: [hugs her tightly] I'm sure she doesn't mind being surrounded by the children. [kisses her cheek and slides back, handing her the package] Housewarming gift from us.
Cora: [smiles as she takes it from him] Thank you. And tell her thank you for us.
Peter: I will. [looks around the loft] I haven't seen the place with furniture. It looks just like Stiles had envisioned for all of you.
Cora: [she nods] Yeah, its been really great.
Peter: You're very lucky to have him, Cora. Remember that, okay?
Cora: [a small smile as she looks up] Trust me. I know.
Peter: [he gently pets her hair, always a fatherly affection with her] It's really nice to see you happy again.
Cora: [and she'll soak it up, just like she always does] It feels good. It feels better, actually.
Peter: This is a big step for the rest of your life. But it's the right one, and enjoy it. [kissing her forehead] And then you can start catching up to your siblings with regards to children. [smirks]
Cora: [shakes her head a bit] I think we've got our hands full with Dina for right now.
Ellie: [and speaking of children one of them is going to be coming right at Cora's legs, looking as though she's about to say something Very Important, until she spots Peter and suddenly she's Miss Shy, clamming up and hiding behind Cora's legs]
Peter: I'm sure. She takes after her father. [sees Ellie and smiles, crouching down to look at the little girl] Hello. And who are you?
Ellie: You're really tall.
Cora: [smirks a bit] This is Ellie, she's Elena and Matt's oldest. Ellie, this is my Uncle Peter.
Ellie: [glances up at Cora uncertainly before turning back to him, not ungluing herself from Cora's side] Hi.
Peter: Thank you. I needed to be tall to play basketball when I was in school. You're very pretty, Ellie.
Ellie: [and that has her ducking her head away from him even more]
Cora: [laughs a bit] Now you're just being shy.
Peter: That's okay. You don't have to be shy though. I'm very well trained and friendly. [smiles]
Cora: [sighs, brushing a hand over the top of her head, before pulling her gently out from behind her leg and crouching down behind her] Do you remember Malia, when she was living at your house?
Ellie: [glances back at her, then nods]
Cora: This is her dad.
Ellie: [that seems to light something inside her that has her relaxing a little bit] Malia is nice. She made s'mores with me. They were really sticky.
Peter: [chuckles] I taught her how to make them. She was never good at keeping her fingers from getting all covered in marshmallow. Did she do the ones where you dip them in sprinkles before eating them?
Ellie: [shakes her head and wrinkles her nose] Mommy said that was too much sugar.
Peter: Well, your mommy doesn't know what she was missing.
Elena: Oh, yes she does. Two hours of chasing her around the house trying to get her to nap. [small smile before giving a bit of a wave] Elena.
Peter: [chuckles, standing back up] Pleasure to meet you, Elena. I have been meaning to thank you for taking Malia in those months back.
Elena: Oh, please, the pleasure was ours. She was a great guest.
Peter: I'm sure, but I'm still grateful to know my daughter has friends willing to protect her in times of need.
Elena: Anytime. I mean, we're still kinda new to all this werewolf stuff, but you guys are Tyler's pack. Anytime we can help, all you have to do is ask. [even in a world where there are no vampires, Elena Gilbert will still stare down the forces of darkness]
Peter: We will remember that.
Elena: Good. [and she'll reach down to scoop up Ellie] But right now, I think she needs something to eat. What do you think?
Ellie: Can I have pizza?
Elena: I don't think they have any pizza.
Ellie: [looks at Cora] You didn't get any pizza?!
Cora: I didn't think anyone would want any pizza.
Elena: [laughs a bit as she pulls away] C'mon, kiddo, let's see what they've got.
Peter: [laughs] I'm going to go check on your mother. [kisses Cora's forehead]
Stiles: [walking over, still holding Cam] Be careful, or else Dina may ask you to shift into your other form.
Peter: [raises his eyebrows] Hopefully she's been taught not to ask that in public.
Stiles: She's been taught. Whether she remembers it when everyone is around and she's excited is another story.
Cora: I think she'll keep it to herself. [and she's going to go make faces at Cameron as she talks]
Peter: Then we will hope that the odds are in my favor. [leans over to kiss his grandson and tickle his stomach before heading up in the direction he knows his sister is]
Stiles: [bouncing the baby] Remind me I'm not allowed to keep him.
Cora: [shifts to rest her chin on his shoulder] You can't keep him. Malia will hurt you.
Stiles: Isaac too, I'm sure. But he's just so cute and tiny.
Cora: [nods a bit, staying close] Yeah, he is. [she moves her hand forward, letting him grab her finger]
Stiles: I remember when Dina was this little. You couldn't take her from me for anything. There's just something about how they look at you, and completely trust and love you.
Cora: Cuz they know you love them too. They can feel it.
Stiles: Can you feel that, little guy? Feel how much we all love you?
Cora: [laughs a bit as he stares back at up at them, drawing her finger forward to gum on it] I think he can taste it.
Stiles: You know, babies put things in their mouths because it's one of the first senses that they develop that they can understand. So that's how they learn what things are.
Cora: Well, that is my finger. I hope it's tasty.
Stiles: And I am not commenting since your entire family is within hearing distance.
Cora: [smirks a bit] Good plan.
Isaac: And the in-laws really don't need to be hearing it either. [comes back to get his son] You want a baby to play with, make your own.
Cora: Hey, he claimed me for his own, not the other way around. [as seen by the fact that she has to tug a bit to get her finger free]
Isaac: He just knows a hot girl when he sees one. [helps Cora get free] Come on, kiddo. She's too old for you.
Stiles: And taken.
Cora: Very taken.
Stiles: So very much take.
Isaac: .... Wow, yeah you're totally mated. [laughs, and cradles Cam] Come on, before Stiles grows fangs again and tries to defend his woman.
Cora: [laughs, before pulling Stiles to face her] Very happily taken.
Stiles: [grins and kisses her, and the boys do a bit of cat calling but her doesn't care]
Allison: Oh, shut up.
Cora: [thank you Allison. she doesn't care, she's just going to kiss him]
Stiles: [pulls back a bit, just staring at her with a silly grin]
Derek: [wrapping his arms around Fiona from behind, kissing her shoulder] It's nice seeing them happy and in love.
Cora: [grins back, before taking his hand pulling him over towards Caroline and Tyler]
Fiona: [leans back against him with a happy sigh] Yeah, it is.
Stiles: [goes willingly]
Derek: It's nice when everything is finally in the right spots.
Fiona: [nods a bit before turning around to face him] Yeah, it is. It's been a rough year.
Derek: For some more than others. [chuckles] But everything has to come back to the means eventually.
Fiona: [nods once] Yes, it does.
Derek: [reaches up to run a hand along the back of Lucy's head as well] I have to admit, seeing this is helping a lot. [with his own issues he's been dealing with post-nogitsune]
Fiona: I thought it would. [Lucy shifts towards that hand, leaning away from her mother and holding her arms out to Derek.] She's ready for some Dad time.
Derek: I'm good with that. The other one is probably in the kitchen hovering over the food. [takes Lucy and snuggles his daughter]
