spamalot } { of time lords and sister-in-laws
Derek: [slowly rousing from sleep, holding Fiona in his arms. Nice, lazy Saturday morning and the kids were hopefully sleeping in so mom and dad could be a bit lazy. He goes to nuzzle her cheek and fall back asleep when his ears pick up something and he tilts his head, trying to focus on it]
Fiona: [stirs a bit at the affection but doesn't rouse right away, relaxing in his arms completely]
Derek: [slowly slides a hand protectively down over her stomach, smiling to himself as he figures it out. He whispers softly] Hey little one... daddy hears you.
Fiona: [curls back into him a bit, tipping her head towards his shoulder]
Derek: [nuzzles her cheek with his own, pulling her that bit closer, hand still protective over their child]
Fiona: [and eventually she rouses, eyes blinking open to look at him] Hi.
Derek: Hey, beautiful. [kisses her] Good morning.
Fiona: Morning. You been up long?
Derek: No, just enjoying the lazy moments before the kids wake up.
Fiona: [hums softly, before letting her eyes close again] Good plan.
Derek: However, I think one of our children is up and wanting my attention. [his fingers flex over her stomach]
Fiona: [blinks, still too sleepy to make sense] Huh?
Derek: [kisses her neck] I can hear the heartbeat.
Fiona: [that wakes her up a bit as she looks down at her stomach] Already?
Derek: [does the math in his head] It's about on time from what I was reading. You’re around sixteen weeks now.
Fiona: [she exhales slowly, not really sure what to think. Because one the one hand, it's a good thing. But on the other, it stops being their secret] Is it good?
Derek: it's good. Very strong. [smiles] You okay?
Fiona: [nods a bit, before swallowing] Now it has to be real.
Derek: Well, seeing that you're a month shy of halfway through this, it's going to get very real, very quickly.
Fiona: No, I know. I mean ... it was real, but now we have to tell other people too. [it's almost as though there's more pressure that way, on things she still can't control]
Derek: That or we can just them think you've mutated and grew a second heart.
Fiona: [her eyebrows go up] You could tell them I turned into a Time Lord.
Derek: We could try. Stiles may actually ask you more questions at that point.
Fiona: I think I could wing it.
Derek: We can pick you up a sonic screwdriver at the mall.
Fiona: Perfect.
Derek: [chuckles and rolls her over onto her back a bit, leaning down and kissing her deeply]
Fiona: [hums softly into the kiss, one hand coming up to brush against the side of his face]
Derek: [oh, is that a sign of her sex drive coming back? He's going to kiss a bit deeper, letting his hands slide up her ribs]
Fiona: [noooooot quite, but the kissing is good. The kissing is very good]
Derek: [oh well, it's a sacrifice he's willing to make for now, but she will get all the kissing]
Fiona: [sorry Derek. you may have to wait until she actually has this child you created]
Derek: [the things he does for his family]
Fiona: [once she's all healed up after the baby he can have all the sex he wants]
Derek: [good. because there will be a lot of sex. ALL THE SEX]
Fiona: [yep. sounds like a plan. But for right now there's just a lot of making out]
Derek: [yup, nice long lazy Saturday makeout session until there's the sound of a toddler cooing from the baby monitor on his side table]
Fiona: [sighs softly as she pulls back] You get her, I'll get breakfast?
Derek: Sure. [one more kiss, and then he'll pull away to get up, reaching for pants.]
Fiona: [crawls out of bed after him and heads for the kitchen, rubbing her eyes]
Derek: [and he's going to open the door to smile at his daughter, pulling her out of the crib and doing a quick diaper change before heading out into the loft. He put her on the carpet on her feet, holding one hand up] Walk with daddy?
Lucy: [bounces on her feet a bit, looking up at him with a grin]
Derek: Come on, Lucy. Just walk with me to the kitchen.
Lucy: [she looks to the kitchen and then back up at him, almost as though she's trying to decide what to do. Then she bounces again like are we going or what?]
Derek: [and he's going to take a step towards the kitchen, pulling her along just a bit to get her to step forward] Come on, Mommy's waiting for you.
Lucy: [she follows where she's guided slowly taking a step forward and following her dad]
Derek: That's my girl. Hey mommy, look who's walking to the kitchen. [and he's going to slowly let her go to keep walking at his side]
Lucy: [will keep toddling along, one foot after the other until she sees Fiona and it's trying to pull back her hand so that she can drop down to her knees and go faster]
Derek: Well, we're getting there. [laughs]
Fiona: [grins as Lucy scuttles over and she scoops her up to let her rest on her hip] She'll get there when she's ready. She's got time.
Derek: I know, but she walks for everyone else. I think she just wants to have us carry her forever.
Fiona: [presses a kiss to her daughter's forehead before shrugging] Well, she'll figure out how to run eventually. Then we won't be able to keep up with her.
Derek: You, maybe. She’s going to have to get pretty fast to outrun me. [smirks]
Fiona: [laughs] We'll see how she does.
Liam: [appears behind his dad, tapping his shoulder, and then zooming to stand next to Fiona] I'm sure I can teach her a few tricks.
Derek: [one eyebrow up at his son]
Fiona: [smirks as Lucy just beams at Liam] I think she'll be just fine.
Liam: [grins, and then looks at Fiona] Oh wow, you grew a second heart.
Fiona: I'm a Time Lord. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Liam: Hey, it's a good story. Just promise me I'm like, not really your grandfather.
Derek: [snorts] Now I know why we keep the BBC in this household.
Fiona: Nope. You're safe, I promise.
Liam: Good, because that'd be awkward. Can we have pancakes for breakfast?
Fiona: Absolutely. Take your sister.
Liam: [takes Lucy] Come on, munchkin. You want to help me practice lacrosse? [and he will go wander to sit her on the floor and roll a ball at her]
Derek: [rubs Liam's hair affectionately, and will go kiss Fiona's shoulder] I'm going to shower. We can talk more later.
Fiona: [nods a bit as she leans into him] Sounds good.
Lucy: [giggles shamelessly every time the ball gets close and she tries to wrap her fingers around it]
Liam: [and he will reach over and grab the ball and roll it again, being the awesome big brother that he is until it's time to eat and he will even get Lucy into her chair and everything]
Derek: [coming back to the kitchen, checking his e-mail on his phone and just... pausing in the living room]
Fiona: [pancakes down on the table and she glances up to him, watching for a moment in case something's wrong] Derek?
Derek: [rubbing the back of his neck] It's from Professor Saltzman. I had sent him to look over my novel to see what I needed to fix in it. He had asked me if he could share it with a friend for some feedback and I told him sure... he um... his friend was an editor at Harper. I have an offer for them to buy my book.
Fiona: [eyes go a bit wide] That's great!
Liam: You mean you actually sold it?
Derek: Yeah, looks like I did. I sold my book. [he's in shock.]
Fiona: [watches him carefully a moment before taking a few steps closer] You okay?
Derek: I just... I didn't think it was ready. I... wow I just need to sit down a sec. [because he's been working on the stupid thing since he was twenty. He's now thirty two.]
Fiona: [and she's just going to make his way over and take him by the shoulders to sit him at the table] Sit. Eat.
Derek: [nods] Yeah. Yeah, I can deal with this Monday when the guy is back in his office. [sits at the kitchen table]
Fiona: [squeezes his shoulders once he's sitting, before leaning forward to kiss him on the cheek] I'm proud of you.
Liam: Same here, Dad. Maybe now you can stop talking about it. [smirks. Such a teenager]
Derek: [basks in the affection]
Fiona: [and with that they will consume breakfast with the speed of a family that is half made up of werewolves, and hopefully with minimal syrup damage from the one year-old in the high chair]
Derek: [yup, and then Liam is going to run off to meet “the guys” in town for a movie and to hang out and Lucy has her play space on the floor to her disposal while her parents can snuggle on the couch]
Fiona: [yep, and Fiona may have strategically placed a few toys on the arms of the chairs around the room before hand to see how Lucy problem-solves it, she shifts a bit to rest her head on Derek's shoulder, one hand finding his free one] How're you doing?
Derek: [also has a few toys tucked into the folds of the couch in case the baby tries to climb up with them later] I'm shifting between being shocked and being the happiest man in the world at the moment.
Fiona: [smirks a bit] So still pretty good.
Derek: Yeah, pretty damn good. [squeezes her hand] What about you?
Fiona: Pretty good. At least today, anyway. I'm sure I'll be back to being a basket case tomorrow.
Derek: If you want to take it easy, we can skip dinner and go spend time with each member of the pack separately so you can share the news in smaller groups.
Fiona: [glances up before shaking her head] No, I'm sure it'll be fine. It's not like they'll all be obsessively listening to my heartbeat.
Derek: And we do have the whole Time Lord story in our back pocket.
Fiona: I think that'll go over really well.
Derek: We know Stiles will be all over that.
Fiona: He will. But he also doesn't have sneaky wolf hearing. So it's only if absolutely necessary.
Derek: And technically, we can take care of them easily. We just have to go downstairs.
Fiona: Yep. I stay with the kids, it should drown it out.
Derek: [kisses her] I don't think they will make as much of a fuss over it anyway. After all, we're all getting to meet Peter's son this Sunday - if they survive handling Victor and Nik.
Fiona: I hope so. [she doesn't want to be the center of attention. Gavin is more than welcome to keep the limelight]
Derek: Do you know if the Kirsanovs are coming to dinner Sunday? I didn't get the itinerary.
Fiona: No idea. But Leah is going to bring the kids over here while Victor's with the baby.
Derek: [looks at the house] Well, good to know. At least we have a one year old excuse for a messy house. When is she coming over again exactly?
Fiona: Saturday, I think?
Derek: [blinks] Saturday as in today?
Fiona: [a beat] Is today Saturday? Because if it is, then yes, that's today.
Derek: ......... I should probably put on real clothes.
Fiona: [laughs] Probably a good plan.
Derek: [leans down to kiss her, and will then get up and go put on jeans and a good shirt so he's not just in his pajamas]
Fiona: [will probably do the same once he's done and make sure the kitchen's clean, but she's not worried about too much. The kids are just going to wreck the place again anyway]
Derek: [pretty much. Though it'll be nice to visit with his sister in law.]
Fiona: [yep. Fun fun fun.]
Derek: [and nothing to hide, since Leah already knows]
Fiona: [yep. it's a good relaxing day which she needs in preparation for Sunday dinner.]
Derek: [and sometime he will slip away to go food shopping for the unexpected horde to be able to cook dinner for everyone. Hope you all like hamburgers]
Fiona: [they're mostly wolves, of course they like hamburgers]
Derek: [well then, uncle Derek is amazing at hamburgers because he melts garlic and butter on top of them now to give them a buttery flavor]
Fiona: [BEST BURGERS EVER thank you Uncle Derek]
Liam: [and he'll come in just in time for dinner and then go up to his room to hide from all the kids]
Derek: [and then beers on the patio for the adults while the kids play inside]
Fiona: [except for Fiona, for obvious reasons] I miss beer.
Derek: I can go and get you non-alcoholic beer if you want?
Fiona: [shakes her head] That stuff's gross.
Leah: Don't worry. You're halfway there.
Derek: [chuckles] Well, I will get you whatever you want. You just have to ask.
Fiona: [sighs as she leans into him] If there is something, I'll let you know.
Derek: [kisses her cheek] You do that.
Leah: [smirks] So what have you guys been up to lately? Other than trying to coax Lucy into walking.
Derek: Well, actually, I found out today that my old Georgetown professor got an editor interesting in my novel and I have to contact him Monday to sign a contract to sell it to Harper Collins.
Leah: [her eyes widen a bit] Derek, that's fantastic.
Derek: [grins, sipping his beer] Thanks. I still worry it's not ready, but I guess if they like it, I should jump on it, right?
Leah: I feel like with stuff like that, sometimes you just need someone to take it out of your hands and run with it.
Derek: Yeah, I just worry. I've been writing that since college.
Leah: Then when did you think it was going to be ready? When you retired?
Derek: When I got it right.
Leah: Well, I think you got it right.
Derek: Well, here's hoping. [holds up his bottle in a toast]
Leah: [does the same]
Derek: So what's been happening on the east coast?
Leah: Business as usual. The kids are mostly in school now, so my days are a lot more free.
Derek: And you haven't found yourself a project to keep busy?
Leah: I'm working on it. Most of it has been me catching up with the pack.
Derek: Yeah, I have to admit, I'm amazed at how much you miss when you have kids and aren't as involved in the day to day.
Leah: They're little parasitic time-suckers.
Derek: And then they turn into sarcastic parasitic time-sucks as they get older.
Leah: Yes, but sarcasm I can handle.
Derek: I'll trade you - the two youngest for Liam.
Leah: I'd have to take it up with Victor.
Liam: [from upstairs] My window is open and I can hear you.
Derek: [laughs]
Fiona: Don't worry, I wouldn't have let them trade you.
Liam: This is why I love Mommy more!
Derek: And this is why you shouldn't listen into the adults’ conversations.
Leah: I'd get used to that. Wolf ears hear everything.
Derek: Most of the loft is soundproof, but if we decide to move, that is going to be a must in the design plan.
Leah: Looking for a house?
Derek: Building. We still have a lot of land in Beacon Hills in our name that isn't given to the city. Of course, building in the preserve is very limited, but there are still a few plots available as long as we get permission from the preservation society.
Leah: That's a great place to grow up and run around.
Derek: And with Laura's kids, and ours, and Cora's soon to come, and Peter and Malia's... having them all able to grow up near each other would be good.
Leah: [she nods] Sometimes I wish we were closer, for that reason. But you have Kieran and Rachel not too far away, so at least there's that.
Derek: And we could start trying to spend more time during my school breaks out that way. Especially since Liam wants to spend his with Nik and Marissa now.
Leah: [nods] There are definitely options, that's for sure.
Derek: Then we'll make them happen.
Leah: Good.
