new york wolves } { of proposals and planning futures

Peter: [and he will come back with a restaurant takeout, bottle of wine and flowers as he lets himself into Nadia's apartment] Hello?

Nadia: [is sitting in the living room with her laptop, finishing up a few last minute things for work] Living room!

Peter: [he will go to put the bag on the table in the kitchen, the wine in the fridge, and then walks into the living room with the flowers behind him] Busy?

Nadia: The client had some last minute changes for their event, and I was just making sure all the orders were put in properly. [but she finishes what she's working on and closes the computer] How's Laura?

Peter: She's good. It's a boy.

Nadia: [there's a beat] Weren't you all convinced it was going to be a girl?

Peter: Yes. The alpha has had a female child as the first child for multiple generations. So this is definitely different.

Nadia: But everyone is happy regardless, yes?

Peter: Oh yes. The baby is adorable.

Nadia: Good.

Peter: [he will pull out his phone and show her the picture of Laura] His name is Thomas.

Nadia: [takes the phone and smiles softly] Good name.

Peter: It was their father's name. He was a good man.

Nadia: I'm sure he'll live up to his namesake.

Peter: I'm sure. [and then he holds out the flowers to her from behind the other hand]

Nadia: [she smiles softly as she takes them] These are lovely.

Peter: Not as lovely as you, but close.

Nadia: Flatterer. [and she leans in to kiss him] I'm going to put these in water.

Peter: Good. I will unpack dinner and set the table.

Nadia: [nods and she will go to do that, setting the flowers in the middle of the kitchen counter]

Peter: [and when dinner is ready he will get out the wine and pour it]

Nadia: [and she will move to sit] Smells good.

Peter: I got your favorite. Since we have much to celebrate.

Nadia: Fantastic.

Peter: [there is a special dessert waiting for her, but for now] So how much longer until we are done with wedding season?

Nadia: Oh, honey, we are just getting started.

Peter: So this may be the last time I can steal you away for a few months.

Nadia: Probably, at least until fall. Otherwise I'm going to be up to my neck in spoiled brides.

Peter: Has Detective Beckett asked your help in hers and Derek's wedding?

Nadia: No, not yet, but I don't even know if they have a date yet.

Peter: Well, eventually. Hopefully they will not do the Atlantic City style wedding his sister did.

Nadia: I don't think Detective Beckett is the type.

Peter: Neither do I. If nothing else, she would want her father there.

Nadia: I'm sure Laura would have had you there if you weren't in London.

Peter: I'm sure. I'm just glad she is happy. That is all that matters, not the ceremony. At least to me.

Nadia: [she nods] I'm sure. And I know when a bride isn't all that interested in being a bride. Sometimes it's for the best to do it quick and dirty.

Peter: [he plays with the last bits of his food, having eaten it faster than he had expected] That is what makes you good at your job.

Nadia: [she nods] People always say that weddings aren't about the couple, they're about everyone else and for the most part that is true. But there are times when it should be about the bride and groom.

Peter: There are. I guess it comes down to the size and family.

Nadia: [she nods] Unfortunately, most of the brides I'm dealing with in the next few months rather relish being the center of attention.

Peter: I guess I will have to help massage away your stress at the end of the day.

Nadia: I certainly wouldn't complain if you are willing.

Peter: I am always more than willing.

Nadia: You are better than I deserve.

Peter: I think that should be the other way around. [smiles]

Nadia: Let's just say the feeling is mutual and leave it at that.

Peter: [he nods] Would you like dessert?

Nadia: Always.

Peter: [and he will get up to get the dessert, taking a moment take a deep breath and keep his heartbeat calm. He will bring the tiny cake for two to the table, putting it in front of her] I saw this little cake and thought it was cute. They didn't have it in blue though, so the pink will have to do. [but it will have a surprise which Peter will reveal a moment]

Nadia: [her eyes roam it for a moment before glancing up to him with a smile] It looks delicious.

Peter: [he goes to sit next to her instead of across from her] Why don't you take the top cookie sandwich and tell me what you think? [and when she does, something is revealed beneath it]

Nadia: [oh yep, she doesn't miss that. her eyes widen a bit and she's going to ignore the cookie in favor of the ring] Oh my God.

Peter: [smiles] I thought perhaps you might like to plan your own wedding for once instead of someone else's.

Nadia: [she reaches forward to take the ring for a moment before smiling softly] I think I can manage that.

Peter: [takes her hand, getting down on one knee] So then, Nadia, will you marry me?

Nadia: [squeezes his hand gently before nodding] Of course, yes.

Peter: [grins and puts the ring on her, and then stands up to kiss her properly]

Nadia: [kisses him back, letting her hands rest on his shoulders]

Peter: [and yeah, he's just going to enjoy kissing her for a while because she is much better than dessert]

Nadia: [agreed. kissing is better, they can always come back to cake]

Peter: [so yeah, makeout times in the kitchen chair]

Nadia: [for a little while, and eventually she will probably drag him off to her bedroom]

Peter: [guess the cake will be a good breakfast too]

Nadia: [or a midnight snack]

Peter: [yup. Two bodies wrapped in blankets with two forks and smiles]

Nadia: [sounds perfect]

Peter: [and in the morning wake up curled up together, fingers intertwined]

Nadia: [yep, they had a very good night, and she'll just sigh softly before shifting to curl into his shoulder]

Peter: Thank you.

Nadia: For what?

Peter: For helping me find the man I wanted to be again.

Nadia: [glances up at him and nods with a smile] My pleasure.

Peter: [and he will just kiss her]

Nadia: [kisses him back with a soft hum, one hand resting against the side of his face gently]

Peter: So I guess we now have a future to plan together.

Nadia: I suppose we do. [she pauses for a moment] Was there a specific kind of plan you had in mind?

Peter: I have you. That's all I need.

Nadia: Well, perhaps, since we're making things official, you should officially move in.

Peter: It's been long overdue, I think.

Nadia: I agree. I'll start making some space for you.

Peter: My apologies to your closet and bookshelves.

Nadia: [she laughs] If we need to, we can buy more bookshelves.

Peter: You've seen my library. We will need to.

Nadia: Then I will put them on order.

Peter: Maybe it will convince Laura that I won't be hovering over her all the time if I'm here now.

Nadia: Though you will absolutely be hovering.

Peter: Only when I'm not occupied elsewhere.

Nadia: So will Laura be asking me to occupy you frequently?

Peter: Perhaps. Though I'm just happy to be with you anyway.

Nadia: And I don't mind being a distraction.

Peter: You are a very beautiful distraction.

Nadia: I'm glad you think so.

Peter: But I'd rather you be a priority than a distraction.

Nadia: Mmmm. I do like the sound of that.

Peter: My number one priority, in fact.

Nadia: [she smiles] Even better. So how exactly do you intend to show me that?

Peter: [and he will kiss her again, and that will lead them to a nice round of morning sex]

Nadia: [yep. they'll probably be doing a lot of that for a while]

Peter: [and eventually there is going to be breakfast being made]

Nadia: [and probably some informing of her siblings]

Peter: [he will tell his pack later in person. Let Laura keep her moment]

Nadia: [fair enough. but her brothers are not bound by the same limitations, provided Victor can keep a secret.]

Peter: [Victor is horrible at them]

Nadia: [yes, well, that's what Leah is for]

Peter: [eventually he will need to go visit Laura again, and will ask Nadia if she cares to join him]

Nadia: [which she will be hesitant about because she's not the fondest of babies but so long as she doesn't have to actually hold Thomas, she'll be fine]

Peter: If you have other things, you don't have to join me...

Nadia: No, that's not it. I'm just ... not really a baby person.

Peter: Bad experiences?

Nadia: [she shakes her head] Bad chemistry. I don't really have a knack for them and I ... get bored easily. I've never been that person who can just sit there with a baby and do nothing else.

Peter: I guess I should ask then if you want any of your own then in the future.

Nadia: [she glances back at him uncertainly for a moment, before shrugging] I've never really thought about it. And I've never been particularly motivated to either.

Peter: We don't have to if you don't want one. Just so you know.

Nadia: Are you sure?

Peter: I pretty much helped raise Derek, Cora and Malia. Laura just had her first kid, and Derek and Kate will probably start in a few years with the girls as well. If I ever need a fix of holding a baby, they can help fill that desire.

Nadia: [she nods] Alright.

Peter: [holds her hand] You are the one I love, Nadia. More than I ever thought I was able to love another. You are all I want. Whatever else happens... that is just the results of our happiness.

Nadia: [that is very reassuring and she nods as she leans in to kiss him] Good. I just want you to be happy in this too.

Peter: I am happy. And marrying you will only cement that.

Nadia: [nods again with a small smile] Good.

Peter: I should go to check on Laura though. You don't have to hold the baby if you don't feel comfortable with it.

Nadia: [she nods] That's fine.

Peter: Then I think we should probably shower and put on real clothes.

Nadia: [she sighs] Probably a good idea.

Peter: We could of course, conserve water and shower together.

Nadia: That is a very good idea. I am all for saving the planet.

Peter: Then let's go. [evil smirk]

Nadia: [and off they go to have a nice long shower together]

Peter: [so much for that water conservation]

Nadia: [they probably saved some time. somewhere]

Peter: [and then off to visit Laura and Espo]

Laura: [and she is settling into motherhood beautifully because she's a natural at it.]

Peter: Hello, sweetheart.

Laura: [looks up with a bright smile] Hey. [she's sitting on the floor in front of the couch and Thomas on his back next to her, waving his arms and kicking his legs in the air]

Peter: [is holding Nadia's hand as they enter, and he will guide her to a chair] You are looking well. And how is my grandnephew?

Laura: He's doing great. He's just discovered his feet. [as though to prove the point, Thomas grabs hold of the foot of his onesie and shakes it up and down]

Peter: So much in the world for him to discover. May I?

Laura: [nods] Of course.

Peter: [and he will pick up Thomas, smiling at the baby as he goes to sit on the couch] And how are you feeling, my dear?

Laura: A little exhausted, still, but otherwise okay. [everything is still evening out, but it's not quite the up and down she expected]

Peter: Well, you will have to get used to it. Being exhausted.

Laura: It's true. But for the days when it's really bad, I have Stiles.

Peter: Yes, the beta is finally good for something. [said teasingly]

Laura: [she laughs] Yes. I bit him so I would have a built in babysitter.

Peter: It's always good to plan long term.

Laura: It is.

Peter: [looks over at Nadia and smiles, because he obviously had been doing so too]

Nadia: [returns the smile before settling in her seat more] He's beautiful, Laura.

Laura: [she nods] Thank you. And thankfully it doesn't seem like he's gotten his father's hair.

Peter: Where is the detective anyway?

Laura: He went to grab some groceries. I'm giving Stiles the weekend to spend time with Cora since she just got back.

Peter: Ah yes, the poor children and their long distance mate ship.

Laura: They are very happy to be together for the summer.

Peter: I'm sure. I hope they will be okay come August when she has to leave.

Laura: I think they will. Now that they've already done it once and survived it, it'll get a little easier.

Peter: I hope so for their sake.

Laura: Me too. But Cora seems to be doing better.

Peter: Yes, especially since she is finished with that one class.

Laura: [nods] Hopefully she won't have to have him again.

Peter: I hope so.

Laura: [she nods before shifting to push up onto her feet] So what brings you by? Aside from the obvious.

Peter: Well, part of it is going to let you know that I asked Nadia a very important question.

Laura: [turns and faces him quickly] The question?

Peter: That would be the one. [looks over at Nadia and smiles, yup, so much in love]

Laura: [glances to Nadia] I'm assuming it was a yes.

Nadia: [laughs] It was a yes.

Laura: Good. I'm happy for you.

Peter: And we were talking about me moving in permanently with her then. Since it would be hard to be married and not live together.

Laura: [she nods] Yeah, of course. I'm surprised you didn't do it after London.

Peter: Old habits. And I had been gone a long time at that point and needed to reconnect with you all. But I think I'm ready now. [obviously, if he proposed]

Laura: Well, yes. By all means.

Peter: Thank you.

Laura: My pleasure. I'm happy for you.

Peter: [looks at Thomas] And now you will have a room next to Mommy for your nursery.

Laura: And we can still have a guest room!

Peter: Which is always a good thing.

Laura: Indeed. We do have frequent visitors.

Peter: And I'm sure there will be more children to come.

Laura: That's the plan.

Peter: [looks at Thomas] Get used to the undivided attention while you have it, little one.

Thomas: [just going to sit here, chewing on his fist]

Peter: [and he is just going to coo over his grandnephew, sitting beside Nadia and keeping his promise that she didn't have to hold the baby]

Laura: Well, if you have him occupied for a bit - I think I'm gonna take a shower.

Peter: You go do that, sweetheart. I can handle him.

Laura: Thank you. [and with that she will disappear to her and Espo's room]

Peter: [looks over at Nadia] I will just need to hire someone to come and help me move my things. However, we can go look in my room and see what I won't need.

Nadia: [glances over before nodding] Sure. Sounds like a good idea.

Peter: [and he will stand, holding onto his nephew as they head to his room to look around at the antiques and books that make up the majority of his room]

Nadia: [and she will sort through all the books she already has and pulls out the ones that she doesn't]

Peter: [and he will direct her to put it on his bed so that he knows which go where.] Not the journals though. Those will stay for Laura and Stiles.

Nadia: [nods as her fingers ghost over them before moving on] Family records?

Peter: Yes. Journals from the seconds before me.

Nadia: [she glances over to him and makes her way closer] It's alright to miss it.

Peter: I know, and I'm more confident that Stiles will be able to handle this. I just... I miss it. Not enough to give up what we have now, but still...

Nadia: [moves behind him and slides her arms around his waist] I'm sure Laura will come to you for advice every once in a while.

Peter: Yes, if for nothing else than about help raising this little one.

Nadia: [nods] And I'm sure Stiles will be wanting your help too.

Peter: [nods] Things will be fine.

Nadia: I'm not entirely sure you've lost anything, other than the status.

Peter: [he turned a bit to look at her, and then leaned down to kiss her] No, but I've gained everything in the meantime.

Nadia: [smiles softly into the kiss before nodding] Anything else that absolutely must come with us?

Peter: Well, my clothes. At least the summer wardrobe.

Nadia: That was a given.

Peter: Everything else can come over in pieces.

Nadia: Good. I'll find a box for these books.

Peter: I'd help, but I have my hands full. [and he will go and bounce Thomas a bit]

Nadia: [the baby giggles and Nadia shakes her head] Any idea where I should start looking?

Peter: Derek's room. Esposito left his boxes there for Derek when he would make his choice to move in with Beckett.

Nadia: I will go find them. I'll be right back.

Peter: Alright. [and he will sit down on the edge of the bed] You’re going to have to be a good boy for your mama. Promise me you won't give her too much trouble, okay?

Thomas: [has noooooo idea what you're saying. You're just talking to him in that nice voice which gets you one of those reflexive smiles]

Peter: I'm going to take that as a yes.

Thomas: [probably not. He's a baby. all he knows how to do is wiggle and cry]

Peter: [he knows, but it's just one sided conversation]

Laura: [and while he's talking to the baby, she will eventually come back with wet hair and watch them from the doorway] Having fun?

Peter: [smiles] Just getting to know each other since I'll only see him now and then.

Laura: Even if you're living with Nadia, you're still welcome to come be a baby distraction anytime.

Peter: Well, I would hope so! [laughs]

Laura: [grins] So that'll probably be a little more than now and then.

Peter: We'll see. But I'm sure I will be around to help as you get used to having the baby around all the time.

Laura: [she nods as she moves to sit next to him] I already love having him here though.

Peter: That's the thing with children. It's a magical bond. The moment you see them, realizing they are a part of you... you instantly fall in love.

Laura: [she nods] I knew that before he got here.

Peter: [smiles at her] You're going to be an amazing mother, you know.

Laura: [she takes a deep breath] I hope so.

Peter: Just have faith in yourself. Being a mother is easier than being an alpha.

Laura: Mmmm. And it's not like I don't have a good partner.

Peter: Exactly.

Laura: No, we'll be good. I just have to remember that I'm not going to be perfect all the time. [aka she's not going to be Talia. Even though Talia wasn't perfect either, and she knows that, she still feels like she was]

Peter: No one is perfect all the time.

Laura: I know. That's the part I have to remember and not feel like a failure, which is probably going to be the hard part when my hormones are evening out and he refuses to sleep through the night.

Peter: [chuckles] Children don't sleep through the night until they are pre-school age. You will survive.

Laura: [she nods] I know. [makes a face]

Peter: [nuzzles her cheek] Just be patient and remember to let the detective take a few night shifts when he has the day off the next day.

Laura: Or hand him off to Stiles when he's home so I can take a nap.

Peter: That too. The earlier he gets some practice, the better off they will be prepared when it's their turn.

Laura: Which hopefully won't be for a while.

Peter: Oh they better not until they are finished school and married. Otherwise your second may be missing a limb. [smirks]

Laura: [she laughs] They're good with dog children for now. [speaking of which say hi to Sadie, Peter, she was getting lonely upstairs]

Peter: [and he will look down and] That one's new.

Laura: [she glances down and nods as Sadie starts to sniff Peter's shoes] Her name's Sadie. Cora got her to stay with her in Boston.

Peter: [sighs] Those two are going to end up needing a kennel of their own.

Laura: [she laughs as she reaches down to scoop Sadie up for face licks] Yeah, but they will be happy with their pile of dogs.

Peter: Which is what should matter in the end. [blinks] I should check on Nadia and hope Derek's room has not eaten her.

Laura: [she laughs] Want me to take Tommy?

Peter: Yes. [he will kiss the baby's forehead, and then hand him off to Laura]

Laura: [places Sadie to the side, before scooping up the baby] I'm gonna see if he's ready for a snack.

Peter: You do that. [and he will pet Sadie before going off to find Nadia]

Nadia: [and she is wrestling with boxes, mostly buying time to sort through the sizes so that he and Laura could have a moment. Sadie, however, is going to follow him and go and sniff at the boxes that have been discarded]

Peter: Watch out, there's a puppy behind you. Cora's newest foster child.

Nadia: [glances over with a small smile] Aww. Good choice. Beagles are sweethearts.

Peter: Probably evens out the hyperness of the golden that Stiles has.

Nadia: I'm sure it does. [she gives him a small smile] I'm just making sure these are sturdy enough for the books.

Peter: Well, now that I've got two free hands, let me help. [and they can go back to his room to pack up the things he needs]

Nadia: [and eventually head back to her place where she can clear part of her closet and but it's her shelves for books that are proving to be a problem]

Peter: We're really going to need a bigger library. Maybe I can buy one of the condos that border you and expand?

Nadia: [she considers for a moment] Give me a little time to see if we can reorganize first. I'd rather not have a construction crew in here.

Peter: Fair enough.

Nadia: [she takes a breath, before glancing around.] Some of the antiques and photos I can move elsewhere. That will free up some shelf space.

Peter: I will leave that up to you. We can keep them somewhere else for a while. I will know where to find them.

Nadia: [she nods with a sigh before turning back to him] We have time to figure it out.

Peter: We have all the time in the world to do that. [slides up behind her, hands slipping around her waist]

Nadia: [sighs again as she leans into him] Exactly. We can take our time.

Peter: [and he is going to kiss along her neck]

Nadia: [she smirks a bit but tips her heads into his lips] Or get distracted.

Peter: That too.

Nadia: Personally, right now, I'm rather fond of the distractions.

Peter: Then let's go be distracted [and off they go?]

Nadia: [yep, and we can skip]
