Parrish: [and once they are alone in the office] So that easy?

Jody: That easy. [she goes into the desk for his badge] We're understaffed and half the office is freaking out - I don't think they're about to argue with me when no one got hurt.

Parrish: [picks up his badge and runs his fingers over it] So am I on the desk for now or...

Jody: Uh-uh. I need you in the field. Whatever it is that the Dread Doctors are pulling, I don't think putting you on a desk is going to help is get ahead of it. Whatever it is, based on what I've been told, you're connected to it. I need you ... out there, making connections.

Parrish: I'll do what I can then, ma'am.

Jody: Good. [deep breath] Look, I know that you barely have any more answers about what's going on with you than I do, and that's scary as hell, but if there's anything I've learned from dealing with the Winchesters over the years, hiding from these situations usually only makes them worse. You're a good cop, Parrish. Make that work for you, don't let it hold you back.

Parrish: All I want to do is help people. It's what I was born to do. I know that the hound in me wants that too. It's the one common connection we've figured out so far.

Jody: That's good. [there's a beat] You should also know that Hayden Romero took her sister up to the nematon to collect the bodies there. I'm not sure if telling you this is just going to set off the hound again, but ... let me know if you start absconding with them again? Just so I can have a cover story ready.

Parrish: [he takes a deep breath at that] Um, I don't know if it will. But I'll let you know if I find I have time missing. [thinks] If I disappear and don't answer my com, call Lindsay or Laura. They can find me faster than anyone else.

Jody: Got it. See? Damage control. You keep communicating with me, and I can keep making sure you're butt's covered when you get caught up in some kind of supernatural mess.

Parrish: [smiles a bit] You know, I heard you were doing a good job from the others, but I think you can give Stilinski tips on running the boat.

Jody: He's still adjusting to the whole "supernatural is real" bomb. It can be hard to tell how to handle it and what balances out greater good versus actually hindering that. Me? I've been at this for six or seven years now. I know how to keep things quiet and still uphold the law at the same time.

Parrish: He's lucky to have hired you then.

Jody: [smirks] Yep. Lucky him.

Parrish: [he bites his lips because, you know, he's dating the sister of your new boyfriend's son's sister so HE KNOWS] I should probably go and find a new uniform.

Jody: You do that. And meet up with Deputy Clark at the power plant, so she can get you up to speed on the current case.

Parrish: Yes ma'am. [and off he will go, and while he's waiting on a few uniform, he's texting Laura]

Laura: [and she will text him back quickly] Good news?

Parrish: I'm officially a deputy again. As long as I keep interim sheriff Mills in the loop on when the hound takes control of me, she's okay with me being on the job.

Laura: Good! Let me know when you get off and I'll make dinner to celebrate.

Parrish: I will. Have a good day.

Laura: You too. [and she will make plans for dinner]

Parrish: [and he will be off to work and then talking to Scott about the video]

Stiles: I can call Claire or Alex.

Cora: Claire and Alex are good, but I'm way scarier. I think your dad will feel safer with me. [right, Sheriff?]

Sheriff: Totally. Plus I don't have to worry about her reading my e-mails.

Stiles: That you know of.

Cora: Why would I read his emails? That's what I have you for. [innocent face]

Sheriff: You two are starting to scare me.

Stiles: I guess... I guess I'll go talk to Scott.

Cora: [she nods as she goes to take his seat next to the sheriff's bed] I'll keep your dad company. I'm sure Scott'll be more than happy to help.

Stiles: Yeah, I'm sure. [he licks his lips a moment, and then nods] I'll call if we need backup.

Cora: Okay. I'll see you when you get back.

Stiles: [and he will just... make his way to Scott's place]

Cora: [and she will cross her legs under her so that she's sitting Indian style in the chair] This'll be good for them.

Sheriff: It will be. Hopefully it will get them back to something normal before I get out of this place. So what shall we do today?

Cora: [she considers before shrugging] Did they leave that chess board in here? [she's terrible at chess, too aggressive, but it's an easy way to kill some time]

Sheriff: We can flip it over to the checkers side if you want.

Cora: That works too. I can play either as long as we have the pieces.

Sheriff: I think they are in the box.

Cora: [and she gets up to go get them. She knows the sheriff's been moving around, so he's doing better, but she'll still get up on the tail end of the bed so that he doesn't have to twist so much]

Sheriff: Maybe I can get Melissa to bring up two things of Jell-o. [smirks]

Cora: [she makes a face] Not a fan of Jell-o. Food that wiggles on it's own is weird.

Sheriff: Pudding?

Cora: I can do pudding.

Sheriff: [pudding it is]

Cora: [and she will set up the board] Red or black?

Sheriff: Red. [and he will watch her a moment] You know, I haven't had a chance to thank you yet.

Cora: [glances up as she sets up red on his side and black on hers] For what?

Sheriff: Taking care of Stiles. Helping save my life... again.

Cora: [she finishes setting it up and she shakes her head] You don't have to thank me for that. [you're her family, and that's what family does for family]

Sheriff: I know, but I want to. [he smiled a bit] You know, when Claudia was dying... she had a moment of sanity and one of her fears was about Stiles being able to really know what it was like to be loved by someone like I loved her.

Cora: [she blushes a bit, her head ducking as she looks at the board. She can get what he's saying but she doesn't really know what to say]

Sheriff: You always blush when I compliment you. Claudia used to do that too. It's adorable.

Cora: [she glances up and shrugs] I ... this is all still kinda new, sometimes. I don't always know what to do with it.

Sheriff: It'll be like that a lot of the time. It's one of the best things about finding someone you love with all your heart. Everything will be comfortable and familiar, and yet each day is something new.

Cora: Him, I've gotten used to. [compliments from Stiles garner an entirely different reaction] It's ... other people that're weird. I'm not used to that many people caring.

Sheriff: Well, I'll admit I can be a bit of a sentimental guy when the mood is right. [he starts to move his pieces] You'll just have to get used to it from me too.

Cora: [small smile as she takes her turn] Guess so.

Sheriff: And you know, I know you have your family and all... but I'm here if you ever need anything I can give.

Cora: [she looks up at him] You already have.

Sheriff: Oh?

Cora: [then there's a brief moment where her face is a little more vulnerable] Been a while since I had a dad. [feeling it is one thing, articulating it is another, because saying it out loud means there's a chance for rejection, even if she doesn't think there will be]

Sheriff: [his face softens at that] Well, I did always want a daughter.

Cora: [the relief is visible and she nods, a small smile crossing her face] Guess that works out, then.

Sheriff: Does this mean I need to adopt your siblings too?

Cora: [she laughs] Only if you want to. And they want you to.

Sheriff: I'm going to need a bigger house.

Cora: I don't think they're going to be moving in.

Sheriff: No, but it will give Buffy more room for the holidays.

Cora: [she laughs] You should have seen Thanksgivings back in Scotland. Way bigger crowd and she insisted on cooking for all of them.

Sheriff: I can only imagine.

Cora: It's better here. Even if there's a lot of people it feels more like family.

Sheriff: Probably because a lot of them are. I mean, I know you call it a pack, but I see family when I look at all of you together sometimes.

Cora: [smiles a bit and nods] They're supposed to be the same thing.

Sheriff: Does this make me the pack dad then?

Cora: Melissa's the pack mom. I think it fits.

Sheriff: As long as you kids don't try to push us together anymore.

Cora: [holds up her hands] That was never my plan. That was all the boys. I like Jody.

Sheriff: Well, I like Jody too.

Cora: Then that's all that matters.

Sheriff: She's moving in with us. Officially now.

Cora: Yeah, I heard. I think it'll be good for when me and Stiles are at school.

Sheriff: See if you can help Stiles come around to the idea of his old man being with another woman. Cause I really like her.

Cora: I will do what I can. I think he likes her too, he just needs to get his head around the idea of it being not Melissa.

Sheriff: It's been a lot thrown at him.

Cora: Yeah, it is. And he is a bit of a control freak.

Sheriff: Just a bit.

Cora: He'll figure it out. She makes you happy and he can't lie to himself about that forever.

Sheriff: No, he can't. And he gets used to change after a while. He always has.

Cora: Plus with school he'll get distracted and it won't be such a big deal.

Sheriff: I'm sure.

Cora: I think if he patches things up with him and Scott, he'll finally be ready for Berkeley, though.

Sheriff: I agree. Let's hope that whatever they are doing right now gets them on that path.

Cora: Without either of us as a buffer, I think it'll help.

Sheriff: Me too. [and he's going to look at the board since they have been playing while they talked] I think you won.

Cora: [perks up a bit at that] Really?

Sheriff: Yeah.

Cora: I usually suck at these games.

Sheriff: Well, you're obviously picking it up from us.

Cora: I guess so.

Sheriff: So, daughter I always wanted, what shall we do now?

Cora: [those words make her smile wider and she shrugs] Wanna see what's on TV?

Sheriff: Sure. [and he pats the space on the bed next to him]

Cora: [and she will happily curl up as she grabs the remote to hand over to him]

Sheriff: [and he will put an arm around her, keeping her on the bed and enjoy TV time with her watching crappy morning TV]

Cora: [and they will just hang out there until the boys get back?]

Stiles: [which they will eventually, and Cora will be able to smell the hint of Stiles' blood in the air even though it's dried and all. And Scott's still helping him walk fully] No need to worry. Just, another stupid kanima attack.

Sheriff: Why does it sound like something normal at this point?

Cora: As long as Tracy's around, I have a feeling it will be.

Scott: I'll go find my mom to have her look at it. [rubs Stiles back a moment, and then goes]

Stiles: [just sighs and sits back in the chair]

Cora: [glances over at Stiles around the sheriff with a soft frown] You okay?

Stiles: Yeah, I'm alright. [he looks up at them] You two look cozy. Should I be worried?

Cora: We've been bonding.

Stiles: Yeah, I'm in trouble now.

Cora: [she smirks] You'd think he would consider it a good thing.

Sheriff: He may not like the fact that we could potentially team up against him.

Stiles: No, I really don't like that fact.

Cora: Haven't we already done that today?

Stiles: No, no I'm not going to like this at all.

Sheriff: Too late, kid. I've adopted her.

Cora: [shrugs but she's pleased, and Stiles knowing her well enough would be able to see that]

Stiles: [he does, and he smiles a bit at it.] I guess I'll just have to live with it.

Cora: Guess so.

Stiles: Good thing I love you.

Cora: [she grins before shifting back against the bed again] I also beat your dad at checkers.

Stiles: Good job!

Cora: How're things with you and Scott?

Stiles: Alright, I guess? I mean, we can talk and not want to strangle each other.

Cora: A step in the right direction.

Stiles: Yeah, I guess.

Cora: Any sign of Theo?

Stiles: Yeah, about that.

Cora: [her brow furrows]

Stiles: Theo may have had his Chimeras try to take on Scott in the tunnels. Hence the whole... [points at his neck]

Cora: Was it related to the thing that broke into the power plant?

Stiles: I think he was looking for it too, but they found us and decided to see if they can play beat the alpha.

Cora: Which they lost.

Stiles: Oh yeah, big time.

Cora: Good. Means Scott's getting back to himself.

Stiles: Somewhat...

Cora: Define somewhat.

Stiles: He seemed to be a bit weak.

Cora: Well, he's still healing.

Stiles: Yeah, that's probably just it.

Cora: I mean, it took Peter forever to actually come back to a decent fighting shape and he wasn't dealing with half the emotional baggage Scott was at the time. [he should have been, but he wasn't]

Stiles: True. [thinks] Maybe he should talk to Peter about it?

Cora: Do you think he wants to talk to Peter about it?

Stiles: He is giving off the whole needing all the help he can get vibe. But if not Peter, maybe Laura? [since Derek was a special snowflake]

Cora: [she nods] Laura, definitely. She might be more helpful.

Stiles: And maybe she'd like to get in good with helping the alpha.

Cora: Maybe. Or she just thinks Scott is a good kid.

Stiles: Either way, it may help him.

Cora: Yeah, it will.

Scott: Help what?

Cora: [glances up awkwardly] Stiles said that you were having some ... performance issues? We thought Laura might be good for you to talk to.

Scott: Oh. [rubs his neck] You think she could help?

Cora: She's been through sort of the same thing?

Scott: Well, that is true. I guess it won't hurt to ask...

Cora: [smiles softly] I don't think she'll mind. Might actually make her feel useful.

Scott: I guess I can call her and see if she has time.

Cora: [she nods] She's in town a lot more now that Parrish has his job back.

Scott: Yeah, I saw him this morning. He looks glad to be back.

Cora: [she nods] Yeah, I think he needs a little normal.

Scott: Yeah, I know the feeling.

Stiles: Though normal around here is in short supply.

Cora: Did you guys find out anything about the last chimera?

Scott: We know that Theo is scared of it. He thinks we're on the same side against it.

Stiles: And he knows that Parrish is.

Cora: Does he know we know?

Stiles: I'm sure he does. I mean, your sister and all.

Cora: Okay. Did he say why it was important?

Scott: No, not really.

Stiles: But it probably is, if he was flaunting it.

Cora: So we just have to figure out why. Awesome.

Scott: Maybe Laura can help me figure out how to break that news to him too.

Cora: [she nods] Probably a good idea.

Scott: Right. Oh, mom said if it was like last time, I can do it. [he holds up the first aid kit]

Cora: Do you guys want some privacy?

Stiles: Nah, it's just on the back of my neck.

Scott: ... Why would we need privacy?

Cora: [she shrugs] Thought I'd ask.

Scott: Okay, lean over.

Stiles: [complies, and it is going to be a comedy of errors of Stiles trying to tell Scott what to do]

Cora: [and she will try not and be too amused]

Stiles: [and he rubs his neck when done] I'm glad I'm not a dog.

Scott: I'm glad you aren't either.

Cora: Same here.
