new york wolves } { of promotions and new team members

Flack: [and there's a lot of official police business, handing out patrols for the uniforms, yadda yadda and then] Alright. So. Last order of business. As you all know, after this shift, Detective Beckett will be abandoning us for the shiny FBI building not too far from here. [from somewhere in the back comes a good natured "Traitor!" and Flack smirks at the mildly offended look on Beckett's face] They call 'em like they see 'em, "Agent." [and she laughs] But in all seriousness, we wish her the best and we thank her for all the good work she's put in here at the twelfth. [and there's some room for applause]

Derek: [smirks and nudges her with his elbow a bit]

Esposito: I call dibs on her desk chair. [smirking in her direction]

Beckett: I'll miss you too, Espo.

Flack: As such, we have a vacancy to fill in her squad for senior detective which means I get to do my favorite part of my job. Promotions. [he rubs his hands together as he scans the room] Now, there were a lot of outstanding candidates, but two really stood out above the rest so I'm taking the opportunity to switch things up in the bullpen and change the system a bit. For Squad B, I'm going to be promoting two detectives to senior detective - so everyone give a hand to Detectives Ryan and Esposito.

Espo & Ryan: [stand up to receive their adulations]

Derek: My life is going to become a living hell now, isn't it?

Beckett: Probably.

Flack: I'd also like you to welcome to Squad B Detective Lindsay Miller - she's a recent promotion to homicide out of the 6th, and she's going to be getting her sea legs while being partnered with Detective Hale, so let's not give her too much hell, alright? [emphasis on the "too much" he know he can't stop all of it]

Lindsay: [gives a nonchalant shrug] Hey, I say bring it on. [no idea how dangerous those words are right now]

Derek: [Oh hey, it's Lindsay. He can totally handle Lindsay] I'll do my best, sir.

Flack: And finally, we're going to be adding another pair of junior detectives to Squad B - I'd like you all to welcome Detectives Gloria Robinson and Jordan Parrish. Robinson is a recent transfer from Virginia and Parrish is joining us from the sunny shores of California.

Derek: [Parrish he had heard about - but Gloria is a complete mystery to him hmm.]

Flack: And that's it. Everyone get out there, do good work. [and he will dismiss the meeting and back into his office he will go]

Esposito: [to Ryan] So what, we trade off days we're in charge?

Ryan: That or we get separate cases?

Beckett: Or you can both be in charge at the same time?

Esposito: Yeah, but it'll confuse the rookies.

Beckett: I think the rookies can handle it.

Derek: And it's not like I listen to either of you anyway. [grins]

Parrish: [walking up with the two ladies, unsure how to break the silence]

Beckett: [notices and smiles] Hi. I'm Detective Beckett which will probably not be much use to you after today, but Hale, Esposito or Espo and Ryan. [And she will point to each of them in turn]

Lindsay: Yeah, I remember Hale from my patrol days. [and she is cool with this partnership thus far. so long as he doesn't start treating her like a kid]

Gloria: [And she will be over here, eyeing Derek because hi werewolf. hi Hale. Man she regrets this already]

Derek: [now that she's closer, hi werewolf. He's going to just look at her a moment, then look at Lindsay and smirk.] Looks like you're stuck with me again.

Esposito: Hopefully Captain Flack has remembering to bring us extra desks with the rookies.

Parrish: [just waves. He is totally the sweet summer child here]

Beckett: I think you'll be able to figure it out.

Lindsay: Not exactly a bad guy to be stuck with. Could have been worse.

Derek: Oh, definitely.

Ryan: So why don't we go grab some coffee and you guys can tell us about your previous beats. Figure out where everyone's strengths lay.

Gloria: [she nods] Sure. Sounds good to me. [so glad she didn't wind up partnered with Derek, that would have probably been a disaster waiting to happen]

Ryan: [so they go and get coffee and go to one of the soundproof "interview" rooms to sit around the table. And look, mysterious bagels too] So, who wants to start?

Lindsay: [mmmmm bagels. But she'll go because she's feeling right at home here] Okay. Lindsay Miller. Originally from the 6th. On patrol I bounced around a lot but I started out in white collar-ish stuff before they sent me up here. [to Beckett] The FBI has this really annoying "I think I'm charming but it's usually because I want something" informant, just FYI. Great taste in coffee though.

Beckett: Right, they have that Caffrey guy over there now, don't they?

Lindsay: That's him. Pain in the ass, but usually right. [makes a face]

Derek: I'm sure Agent Beckett will put him in his place fast enough

Lindsay: Oh, I don't doubt it. But he's also the kind of guy who takes discouragement to mean the opposite.

Beckett: I worked with Castle for six years, I think I can handle Castle with a hat fetish.

Lindsay: [and she laughs] No doubt.

Parrish: You know Castle too?

Beckett: Everyone around here knows Castle. You a fan of his books or something?

Parrish: No, no my um... the Sheriff I worked for out in Beacon Hills. He retired and moved here to be closer to his son. He's gone into business with Mr. Castle.

Beckett: Oh, okay. You worked with Stiles' dad?

Parrish: Yes, ma'am. I'd been there about five years now.

Beckett: Okay. So you've got people out here. That's good.

Parrish: I guess. It's more that I just felt drawn here when Sheriff Stilinski talked about relocating, and he mentioned that I might some challenge in this precinct.

Lindsay: [eyebrows go up at that] Drawn here, huh?

Parrish: Yes ma'am.

Lindsay: Huh.

Beckett: So what'd you do before Beacon Hills?

Parrish: Army.

Esposito: Right on, brother.

Lindsay: Okay, so we've got the local, the army guy - what about you?

Gloria: [picks her head up and blinks] Uh. Gloria. Robinson. I'm from Virginia, career cop - there's not really much about me.

Ryan: So nothing special about you at all?

Gloria: I'm from a ... really small town so we sort of did a little bit of everything? No specialties, really.

Esposito: Well, let's go through us. I've been special forces and was with narcotics before I got here. Detective Ryan did undercover work and is great on using tech to track down clues. Hale was stuck with the CSI crew for a few years but was let out for good behavior to become a real cop.

Derek: Still not as funny as you think you are.

Lindsay: Didn't our captain also come from the crime lab?

Derek: Yes, I worked under him before he was transferred here.

Parrish: And that's where Sheriff Stilinski's son is now working, right?

Derek: [nods] Same lab.

Gloria: Tight knit group.

Esposito: We take care of our own. And technically Stiles is a computer genius. He earned the spot on his own.

Gloria: [blinks] Oh, I didn't mean to imply ... [shakes her head] Never mind.

Derek: [looks over at Ryan and Espo] Should I get the awkward out in the open?

Esposito: Don't see why not. I mean, we know one knows already. Pretty sure Flack wouldn't put them here if they didn't know at this point.

Derek: Alright then. I'm also the current werewolf in the precinct, so anything weird in the area tends to get put on my plate.

Lindsay: [does not seem surprised]

Gloria: [oh. okay. we're gonna do this. so she'll just ... awkwardly raise her hand] Make that two then.

Parrish: I thought we weren't supposed to talk about this kind of stuff openly.

Lindsay: We're not. But technically this isn't "openly."

Derek: [nods to Gloria. Welcome to the police pack, little wolf]

Parrish: Oh.

Ryan: And despite rumors that Detective Esposito may try to start, I am not, in fact, a leprechaun.

Esposito: You so are.

Lindsay: Are leprechauns even a thing?

Derek: Yeah, they're a type of fairy actually...

Lindsay: [squints] Huh.

Parrish: [and yeah, he has nothing else]

Gloria: So. I guess if that's it we should ... work?

Esposito: Yup. Derek will give you all the tour.

Derek: I will?

Esposito: Yup. [makes a little shooing motion, all smirks.]

Beckett: I have some paperwork to do, so ... [and with that she will head out and probably take Ryan and Espo with her]

Esposito: [Yes, because the awesome OT3 should get to spent the last day together.]

Derek: [which leaves him with the 3 rookies] Alright, let's go take the tour.

Lindsay: If I already know my way around can I opt out of the tour?

Derek: You don't want to provide color commentary?

Lindsay: Do you want me to provide color commentary?

Derek: ...... Have fun with Espo

Lindsay: [grins and she will trot off after them to ... probably get saddled with paperwork but hey at least she doesn't have to listen to stuff she already knows]

Derek: [and he will give them all a tour. And at one point Parrish goes to use the men's room, leaving the two wolves alone]

Gloria: [and she will shift awkwardly, not really sure what to do here. She didn't think she would get put in the same precinct as Derek]

Derek: [he will watch her a moment and then] Everything okay?

Gloria: [deep breath before nodding] Yeah. Just ... this move wasn't exactly my idea.

Derek: Problems at home?

Gloria: Something like that.

Derek: Well, if unwanted moves from your home is a thing, I know how it is. So if you need someone to talk to.

Gloria: Not exactly the same thing. My alpha wants me here.

Derek: Oh?

Gloria: Yeah. [a beat and she might as well come out of it] Richard Lockwood?

Derek: ....... Tyler's father?

Gloria: That's the one.

Derek: Why would he... oh. Tyler.

Gloria: Among other reasons.

Derek: You're not happy about it at all, are you?

Gloria: Oh no. I'm thrilled with being forced to move to a new city where I don't know anyone to play bodyguard to a kid who doesn't really need it.

Derek: Or want it.

Gloria: Exactly. He's actually my stop after this, and I'm ... sure he'll be thrilled to see me. [he might be a little thrilled. Tyler's a good kid and even if his father is a douchebag he still cares about his pack. but he's not going to be thrilled about the why]

Derek: Well, he and my younger sisters are friends, so you will eventually meet them.

Gloria: [nods once and ...] Am I gonna have a problem with your alpha?

Derek: As long as you don't try to come after us, probably not.

Gloria: That is not my plan.

Derek: Then you should be fine.

Gloria: Good.
