peter & cora } { of valentine's and soccer games
Scott: [and it's Valentine’s Day and all the kids are handing out little valentines to others with candy and things. Scott got cute little puppy ones from the dollar store that say I Woof You and there are cheap lollipops taped to them.]
Cora: [is not fond of most of the people in her class but she's going through the motions with simple ones for most of them. She did get slightly better ones (and better candy) for Scott and Stiles though]
Stiles: [is just sitting quietly at his desk because his dad worked late last night and they didn't get them so he has nothing to give. He smiles though as Scott and Cora, appreciating them]
Cora: [doesn't really care about what Stiles does or doesn't have to give her. If she knew she would have shared what was left of hers, but she doesn't say any of that now, just pushes her desk up next to Scott and Stiles' when class time dissolves more into party shenanigans]
Stiles: [when Cora and Scott had sat down, Stiles had pulled out his notebook. When she moved closer, he hands them both a folded piece of paper and it totally had three stick figures high fiving each other and it said "Let's be best friends forever" on them]
Scott: [grins] Of course!
Cora: [she grins as well] That is the plan.
Stiles: Good, because you're like, the bestest friends ever.
Cora: [she grins] Ditto. I'm really glad I had you guys this year.
Scott: So are we.
Stiles: Totally.
Cora: [she smiles a bit at that, before resting her chin in her hands] So what are you guys doing this weekend?
Scott: We're trying out for this kid's lacrosse team. It looks fun.
Cora: Oh. [but she can't do that with them because not a boy] Cool.
Stiles: You know, they got a soccer team too they are doing. You like soccer, don't you Cora?
Cora: Yeah. I used to play before the fire.
Stiles: Maybe we can do soccer instead? I mean, your doctor just said we needed a sport that you can run in, right?
Scott: Yeah, but I'm not good at soccer.
Cora: [shakes her head] It's okay. You guys don't have to.
Stiles: You're not good at lacrosse either.
Scott: Well, true.
Cora: If you guys want to play lacrosse it's fine. I can figure out other stuff to do.
Scott: No, we can do soccer. It'll save my mom having to buy me gear, actually.
Stiles: And probably a lot of doctor trips.
Scott: That too.
Cora: [she smiles a bit at that before nodding] Okay.
Stiles: Awesome!
Cora: [she's so pleased. she has such great friends. and true, she could probably do with widening her social circle a little, she's happy with what she has for now]
Scott: I'm gonna go grab us cupcakes.
Cora: [she nods] Chocolate please.
Scott: Got it. [and off he goes to get the cupcakes, leaving Stiles and Cora alone]
Cora: [inches closer] You didn't have to do that.
Stiles: Do what?
Cora: Figure something out so I could play too.
Stiles: He's only playing because he needs to play a sport to control his asthma. I'm doing it so he isn't alone, but if you do it too, then we're a team.
Cora: [she nods] Yeah. [a beat] I'm glad you want me on your team.
Stiles: [bright grin] Always will.
Cora: Good. [pushes over some of the chocolate towards him] Want some of my candy?
Stiles: You have to ask? [and he will help her with that, and Scott will join in once he's back with cupcakes]
Cora: [and they will have far, far too much sugar.]
Sheriff: [Oh dear god. Why did I have to draw today]
Cora: [sorry Sheriff. at least you'll be grateful that Cora loses her sugar high very quickly]
Stiles: WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!! [running circles around his father] So dad we're going to try out for soccer instead of lacrosse because Cora likes soccer and we can all play together on it and you won't have to buy sticks now and......
Scott: [sugar coma zombie walk]
Cora: [makes a sympathetic face. She totally shouldn't have shared her candy] If that's okay. [she's going to fill in for Stiles]
Sheriff: Oh no, it's great. I think I'd prefer it, actually.
Cora: [she nods] Okay.
Sheriff: Alright, kids. We're going to go home and let Stiles out into the yard to run.
Cora: [nods and they all pile into the car so that they can drive home]
Scott: [falls asleep on the couch once they are home]
Stiles: We can go play soccer in the yard?
Cora: Sure! [and she will run outside to join him so that they can burn off that energy]
Stiles: So show me how to soccer, master Cora.
Cora: [and she totally will. And they will play for a bit until they manage to collide with each other and that + their raised heartrate might just have Cora's eyes flashing gold as she hits the ground. She tries to clamp them closed, but Stiles might have the chance to see something]
Stiles: [totally saw something, but ow he's rubbing his head because ow]
Cora: [she takes a few deep breaths, waiting for the red in her vision to clear before she opens her eyes again and looks over at him] Are you okay?
Stiles: Yeah. Just not sure head colliding is a good thing.
Cora: No, probably not. [she frowns before reaching forward, placing a hand on his shoulder to pull some of his pain]
Stiles: [and he blinks as he feels that, and looks at her hand and his eyes widen] Your veins...
Cora: [glances down and then jerks her hand back, the blackness fading instantly] What about them?
Stiles: They were black. What happened?
Cora: Nothing. They're fine. [holds up her arms and gives a small, awkward smile] See?
Stiles: O... kay.
Cora: [she knows Stiles. she knows he's going to keep digging until he has something that makes sense so she is just pleading him to believe her] Must have been some dirt or something.
Stiles: Yeah, I guess. [yawns] Okay, I think I'm good for a nap. You want to nap?
Cora: [exhales in relief and nods] Yeah, sure.
Stiles: [and he will get up and hold a hand down to help her up as well]
Cora: [and she will take his hand to pull herself up and off they will go to curl up with Scott]
Stiles: [and they can be a literal puppy pile until Peter and Melissa show up]
Cora: [yep pretty much. and when they do, Cora will gather her stuff and pull herself out of the pile to go home with Peter and ... not mention how she almost outted herself]
Peter: [nope, no clue. But he thinks that they are totally adorable]
Cora: [is it too much to hope that Stiles won't immediately get his research on once Scott and Cora are gone?]
Stiles: [He won't get it on right away. Nope. wait until Saturday when he remembers it and tries to look it up but finds budkis]
Cora: [oh well. he'll find out eventually, but not until they're older]
Stiles: [and then it will all make sense]
Cora: [yep. but until then they'll just play soccer and be best friends]
