Laura: [she took five tests before she even considered going to the hospital to ask Melissa and she waited there for the indeterminate amount of time for someone to process it and it confirmed that yes, this was a thing that was happening. She hasn't seen Jordan all day and with everything that's going on with the Beast she isn't sure now would be the best time to tell him, but she needs to talk to someone so SURPRISE, Derek, your big sister is currently sitting on your couch with some serious brood getting going]

Derek: [and he's coming back from dragging Dawn out of the library for lunch before putting her back in her study spot. He sees Laura and is confused and worried all at the same time because brooding sisters are always something for him to worry about] Hi?

Laura: [glances up and sighs] Hi.

Derek: Everything okay?

Laura: Not really. [one hands comes up to rub her forehead a bit, before she glances up at him again] I'm pregnant.

Derek: [yup, both eyebrows go straight up at that] Come again?

Laura: I'm pregnant. [it doesn't really get any less weird saying it the second time around]

Derek: [and he is going to walk over and just sit on the couch next to her] Does Jordan know?

Laura: [she shakes her head] Not yet. I just got it confirmed officially this morning and I haven't seen him.

Derek: [licks his lips and nods] I'm going to assume this wasn't planned.

Laura: [she laughs bitterly at that, before shaking her head] No. Definitely not.

Derek: [goes to wrap one of his arms around her shoulder. He can smell the anxiety coming off her]

Laura: [and she will take that offering and curl into her brother a bit, closing her eyes and just trying to remember to breathe]

Derek: Everything is going to be okay, Laura. I promise.

Laura: I hope so. Because I'm not even sure right now if he's going to make it out of this.

Derek: We just have more reason now to make sure. [holds her closer] And of not... you're always going to have a piece of him in this.

Laura: [the petulant part of her wants to say that she doesn't want a piece of him. She wants him. But she also knows the hound isn't making her any promises that the boy will survive]

Derek: [just holds her tightly, rubbing her back.]

Laura: Can we just keep it between us, for now? He's got enough stress with everything going on and with Gerard in town I don't want to make things more complicated for him.

Derek: I won't even tell Dawn. [and Derek is very good at keeping secrets, come on]

Laura: Thank you. [she sighs] I'll figure it out once we know how this is going to end.

Derek: And hey, remember. Cora was also an accident baby, and we love her just as much.

Laura: [snorts as she looks up at him] Uh-huh.

Derek: Pretty sure Peter was an accident baby too.

Laura: You're also missing the part where they already had other children and having another one wasn't that big a deal.

Derek: Well, Mom would never admit if you were an accident.

Laura: Just ... the timing could have been better.

Derek: Laura, take it from me - there is no such thing as perfect timing.

Laura: There's better timing than when there's a massive beast terrorizing Beacon Hills and murdering dozens of people every night.

Derek: Yeah, sure there is. But maybe it is the right time too.

Laura: [she sighs before leaning back against him again] Maybe. [she doesn't sound like she's actually considering it a maybe]

Derek: [kisses the top of her head] You know I'll be here to help.

Laura: I know. I'll figure it out.

Derek: [nuzzles her]

Laura: Can I stay here until I hear from him? [she's put out feelers but she doesn't want to distract him from whatever it is he's doing. it might be important]

Derek: Of course. You're always welcome.

Laura: Thanks. [and she's just going to curl up with her brother until he absolutely has to move]
