new york wolves } { of missing teens and surprise encryptions

Gloria: [wrinkles her nose] Do you smoke? [because she hadn't noticed that before]

Parrish: ... No.

Gloria: [gags slightly] You smell like an ashtray.

Parrish: Oh, probably from the deli I got breakfast at. Sorry. I can go change.

Gloria: If you could? Or if you don't take it personally if I ride with Hale today.

Parrish: I wouldn't take it personally. Let me go change though. Text me if you need me. [and he will go to the fitness room and grab his police jogging outfit which he can wear and he comes back smelling less like an ashtray]

Gloria: [grateful smile] Better.

Parrish: I'll find a new place to go so it doesn't happen again. [because he's thoughtful]

Gloria: This a new place?

Parrish: I've been trying to find the best dollar coffee around the station. I've been going there a few days.

Gloria: Huh. Didn't notice it before.

Parrish: Again, I'm sorry.

Gloria: [she waves a hand] It's okay. If you had a human partner, they probably wouldn't have even noticed.

Parrish: I much prefer you to my last partner.

Gloria: Oh really?

Parrish: Yeah. The last one was... well, a jerk.

Gloria: At least with me all you have to worry about is anger management issues. [teasing]

Parrish: As long as they aren't aimed at me, we're good. [laughs as well]

Gloria: I think I can manage that.

Parrish: Awesome.

Gloria: Good. You hear anything more about these bodies that keep going missing?

Parrish: I heard. We've got six missing teenagers in the district as well. All in the same time frame.

Gloria: So that's possibly evening out to six dead kids.

Parrish: Which means that if we don't find out who's doing this, and why, there's going to be a lot more.

Gloria: And from the looks of things, it seems like they're all supernatural kids too.

Parrish: Do we have any leads on anything?

Gloria: Whatever's stealing the bodies can set itself on fire.

Parrish: [nods] Yeah. Detective Hale wasn't happy about that.

Gloria: I don't blame him, considering what happened to his family.

Parrish: Yes, the Sher... I mean Mr. Stilinski told me about that.

Gloria: [she nods] It was a big deal when it happened. His mom was a big deal - at least as far as my community goes.

Parrish: His sister Laura is now the alpha. I met her when I arrived in town.

Gloria: I haven't had that pleasure yet, though I should probably get around to it.

Parrish: She's married to Detective Esposito too, so don't piss him off.

Gloria: Wasn't planning on it.

Parrish: Good. New York probably will be easy then.

Gloria: I hope so. I live on the Kirsanov side of town, so I already made nice with him.

Parrish: I have not met them, but I know they are aligned.

Gloria: Yeah. The Kirsanovs were here first, though. The Hales territory used to belong to this pack called the Ivanovs.

Parrish: And they tried to have some hunter family kill off the Hales I heard.

Gloria: Yeah, that backfired spectacularly. The hunter family wound up offing them instead.

Parrish: A good thing then?

Gloria: My alpha didn't think so. But my alpha isn't exactly a winner personality wise himself.

Parrish: I'm sorry to hear that.

Gloria: [she shrugs] Not much I can do about it from here.

Parrish: Why did you leave your pack anyway?

Gloria: I didn't. My alpha asked me to be here to keep an eye on his heir.

Parrish: .... Not sure I follow.

Gloria: His son lives up here. He doesn't like some of the choices he's been making so he wants me here to keep him in line.

Parrish: I take it that is not a fun job.

Gloria: Tyler's a good kid. But he's not thrilled with me essentially spying on him either.

Parrish: If you don't like it, and he doesn't like it, why do you do it instead of just acting like you do?

Gloria: Because his dad has my cousin and Virginia is very far away.

Parrish: [looks over at her] Like, hostage?

Gloria: For all intents and purposes. [there's a beat] Alphas ... they have a lot of abilities that normal wolves don't have. If you're part of their pack, it gives them a bit of ... control over you.

Parrish: That really sucks. No offense, but I'm kinda glad I'm not a werewolf.

Gloria: Not all alphas are bad. Some just ... suck.

Parrish: Still...

Gloria: [there's a beat as she shifts closer] When you were in the army, you and your unit got to be pretty tight right? Like family?

Parrish: [there's a moment's hesitation, and then he nodded] For the most part.

Gloria: And your superior officer, you trusted them with your life?

Parrish: Yeah.

Gloria: But I'm willing to bet that not all of the superior officers were great guys.

Parrish: No, not all. The guys I had were good for the most part.

Gloria: Same thing with being a werewolf. Some alphas are exceptional. They become alphas because of the strength of their character and are strong leaders. Some inherit their power - strong family lines. But with inherited power comes inherited complacency, which is the problem with the Lockwood family. And then there are the killers. The ones who stole their power from another alpha by murdering them. They're probably the worst.

Parrish: You make it sound almost like how gangs start.

Gloria: In some ways, you're not wrong. But being an omega sucks. We're stronger as a pack.

Parrish: Can you like, change leaders?

Gloria: In theory. There are consequences, though.

Parrish: Like?

Gloria: Like he could kill me. Or kill my cousin.

Parrish: But wouldn't your new alpha protect you both?

Gloria: Well, there'd have to be an alpha willing to take us.

Parrish: Well, you've got an in to the Hale alpha.

Gloria: Just because I have an in doesn't mean she'll say yes.

Parrish: But you won't know until you ask.

Gloria: It also doesn't mean I want to just abandon everyone else in the pack either.

Parrish: But it is an option.

Gloria: Sure. But Richard Lockwood isn't going to be forever. Tyler's going to be a better alpha.

Parrish: Does he want to be alpha?

Gloria: Not now. But he's not going to become one until his father dies. He has time to grow into it.

Parrish: [is about to ask more but hey there's a call coming in about a dead body]

Gloria: [sighs as she gets to her feet] Time to go to work.

Parrish: Hopefully this one is a normal body

Gloria: Fingers crossed.

Parrish: [and off they go and it is a human body, but it doesn't look like it was killed by a human]

Gloria: ... Well, at least we can actually take this one to the morgue.

Parrish: And maybe it will stay there.

Gloria: We can only hope.

Parrish: [and the woman died and her heart was taken. poor girl]

Gloria: Huh. [her head tips to the side as she gets closer] I haven't seen a kill like this in a while.

Parrish: I really, really hope we don't get a call later about the heart as a creepy valentine.

Gloria: No. This wasn't surgically done. This was done by someone with strength. [she straightens and then reaches towards him] Someone shoving through the ribcage and then yanking the heart back out again.

Parrish: Yeah, well now I know what my nightmares are going to be about tonight, thanks.

Gloria: [she smirks] No problem.

Parrish: [and they can work the case, but halfway through Parrish starts to just zone out]

Gloria: [frowns as she notices that] Hey. Parrish.

Parrish: [blink, blink…squint and he's back] Yeah?

Gloria: You okay?

Parrish: Yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking I guess.

Gloria: Okay. Well, I figured we could grab lunch and head back to the station - start following some leads?

Parrish: Yeah, probably a good idea. We can fill in Detective Ryan while we're there.

Gloria: [she nods, before heading back to the car] Let's go.

Parrish: [and he will go with her]

Gloria: [and they will go fill in Ryan and she's going to start texting the Bennetts back home to find out what kills like that]

Parrish: [and he will just... go off to the restroom and just never come back]

Gloria: [to which she will start texting him]

Parrish: [and yeah, you have reached Parrish's phone. He's not in control at the moment, but the 911 line is getting a crazy woman calling in about a man on fire]

Gloria: [her eyebrows go up and she's making her way closer] Where is that call?

Officer: Outside Trump Plaza heading into the park. Trust me, it's a prank. Same woman and this is her seventh time trying to get us out there.

Gloria: [just going to ignore you] Hale! Your burning man's over in Trump Plaza.

Derek: [ears perk, and he looks at Lindsay] Want to take a look?

Lindsay: Let's do it. [to Gloria:] Where's your partner?

Gloria: You see him, tell him he owes me a cheesesteak.

Derek: We can focus on him later. You want in on this?

Gloria: Yeah, let's go.

Derek: [and off they go and get to the park and there is a distinct sulfur smell that leads into the park]

Gloria: Do you know if that's the same scent from before?

Derek: It is. Smells like burnt hair and cigarettes.

Gloria: Let's go. I think I can track it from here.

Derek: Take the lead.

Gloria: [she nods and she's just going to follow that scent and as she goes in, she'll notice there's something a little familiar about it which causes her to slow a bit]

Derek: [sees that] What's wrong?

Gloria: I've smelled this before.

Derek: [stops and he takes a deep breath, focusing] When?

Gloria: [she grits her teeth] This morning. On my partner. [and then she's going to pick up the pace again]

Derek: Parrish? [making sure Lindsay is keeping up as they keep going. They will find a part of the fence to the preserve melted]

Gloria: Yeah. [she pauses for a moment, studying the fence to make sure it's not still hot, before carefully stepping through] He came in smelling like an ashtray. I made him change.

Derek: There was a sighting of the fire man last night too. [looks at Lindsay] Stay here on guard. Call if you hear something.

Gloria: [Lindsay nods, pulling her gun and waiting on the other side of the fence while Gloria keeps moving inside. She stops just short of the fence however, one hand moving to rest against her chest gently] Do you feel that?

Derek: Yeah. Power.

Gloria: [she nods and starts moving again, leading the way to giant, really beautiful tree. It's hard to believe how it goes unnoticed in a city like New York, but it seems like it's in a grove all it's own, long heavy branches hanging down from above]

Derek: [and on the back end of the tree, Derek sighs] Well, we found our bodies.

Gloria: [glances up and letting her eyes roam over it for a moment, she looks at Derek in concern] This is a nemeton, isn't it?

Derek: Yeah, yeah it is.

Gloria: Jesus.

Derek: [leans down to look at the body he remembers from the alley, gently turning the head to see the hole in it] This isn't fire damage.

Gloria: [okay, back to being a cop now. she makes her way over to the body to have a look] See, this? This is surgical. The body we found this morning was torn open, this was done by an instrument.

Derek: We need to get a team out here. Central Park lawyers are not going to be happy.

Gloria: Yeah, well, I'm sure they don't want a pile of dead bodies lying around either. I'll call it in.

Derek: Actually... let me call Marcus first and see if he needs anything here that the cops will destroy when the CSI is here.

Gloria: [nods] Okay. I'm gonna see if I can find our burning man.

Derek: Gloria - be careful. We don’t' know if he's working for whoever did this.

Gloria: [she nods] I got it. [and she's going to very quietly make her way through the woods to see if she can find the firebug.]

Derek: [and he is going to call Marcus and take photos and video and a few samples for the emissary]

Parrish: [and the hellhound is sitting in his car in a parking spot just outside the park, just staring at the steering wheel in his daze]

Gloria: [and she's going to slowly make her way closer, just hoping he isn't going to set her on fire, before gently knocking on the window]

Parrish: [and it will jar him back to himself. he will look over at her, and then down at his lack of clothing before back up at her] Gloria?

Gloria: You okay, partner?

Parrish: I... I don't know.

Gloria: [her head tips to the side for a moment] What's the last thing you remember?

Parrish: I was at the station going to the men's room.

Gloria: Yeah ... that was four hours ago.

Parrish: [gulps, trying not to freak out] Really?

Gloria: Yeah. Can I show you something?

Parrish: It isn't by chance my clothes.

Gloria: [she glances closer and her eyebrows go up before she shakes her head] No, unfortunately.

Parrish: I probably shouldn't leave the car then.

Gloria: [deep breath] Do you have something in your trunk?

Parrish: I think my gym bag is in there.

Gloria: [nods as she goes to check, hoping he'll pop the trunk for her]

Parrish: [he will, and it's there]

Gloria: [and she'll bring it back around so he can put some clothes on]

Parrish: [which he will, sweatshirt and those snap on pants totally have a good purpose]

Gloria: [glances over with a small smile once he's decent] You good?

Parrish: Define good? [and he slides out of the car] What do you want to show me?

Gloria: You know that cigarette smell I was complaining about this morning?

Parrish: Yeah?

Gloria: I figured out where it came from.

Parrish: It wasn't the deli, was it?

Gloria: [she shakes her head gently, before leading him back towards the park to the nemeton]

Derek: [and he's going to look up at Parrish as they get there] Jordan.

Parrish: [just looking up at the tree] What is this place?

Gloria: It's called a nemeton. It's a place of great power for the supernatural.

Parrish: And what does it do?

Gloria: Honestly? It draws supernatural creatures to it.

Parrish: That's it? It doesn't give anything back?

Gloria: [she takes a deep breath] Miss Shelia used to tell us stories about how a true nemeton could summon creatures of fire to protect it - but not just it, the rest of the supernatural as well. It helps keep our secret.

Parrish: So you think that this fire man people have been calling in was brought here by it.

Gloria: [she nods, before taking his arm gently and walking him around the other side of the tree to show him where the bodies are resting] And make sure that the dead aren't turned into circus acts.

Parrish: [and he's going to stop at that, looking at the bodies, and then Gloria]

Derek: Parrish, do you know what you are?

Parrish: I'm human.

Gloria: [she pauses for a moment, before shaking her head] I don't think you are.

Parrish: [he licks his lips, and shakes his head] I... but I've always been human.

Derek: Maybe you were born human, but you're not now.

Gloria: They're called hellhounds. And ... I don't remember all the stories, but I don't think they were always what they are. I'll have to call her and ask.

Derek: I can also ask my uncle to look into it. Do you remember anything, Jordan?

Parrish: [shakes his head] No.

Gloria: [rubs his shoulders gently] Look, why don't we have Lindsay take you home? Derek and I can take care of this and make sure it's done properly so it doesn't draw any attention.

Parrish: [just nods a bit] Okay.

Gloria: C'mon. She's over here. [and she'll start leading him towards Lindsay]

Parrish: [and he will go, trying to keep his calm but internally freaking out]

Gloria: [and Lindsay will talk for a minute before she heads back to Derek to deal with the bodies]

Lindsay: [looks over at him, also worried] C'mon. Let's go back to my place.

Parrish: You sure? I probably should just go home...

Lindsay: You got that "I don't want to be alone" look on your face.

Parrish: I think it's more of a I have no idea what's happening face myself.

Lindsay: All the more reason you shouldn't be alone in your own head. C'mon. I'll buy the booze.

Parrish: [nods, and he goes to follow her. His car is parked in a legal spot so they can just leave it there. not that he doesn't have the cop decal in the windshield either]

Lindsay: [well, they're going to need his car anyway because Lindsay rolled with Derek and Gloria unless they want to hoof it]

Parrish: [no, they can take it then. He will let her drive, just cuddling against the door of his passenger side]

Lindsay: [doesn't really know what to say to him because she's on the outside looking in on a lot of this supernatural stuff, but for now, she just wants to make her friend feel better]

Parrish: [and as he shifts his foot, he hears a piece of paper under the seat crunch. He narrows his eyes a moment, and then leans forward to pull it up. He looks at it, and it's a printout of a code that is singed around the edge]

Lindsay: [glances over at him and frowns] What is that?

Parrish: I don't know. I've never seen it before.

Lindsay: [frowns as she pulls into her parking spot, leaning over to peer at it] Is that computer code?

Parrish: I think it's an encryption. [he looks back in the footboard and there is a USB drive that he reaches and grab]

Lindsay: Maybe we should have Stilinski the Younger have a look at this.

Parrish: Probably a good idea.

Lindsay: Want to do that now?

Parrish: Yeah. Focusing on something is better.

Lindsay: Let me call him. [and she will go call up Stiles. who might be having dinner with Lydia since Sam is otherwise occupied for work things and Cora is in Boston]

Stiles: [just arriving to her place in fact, having rung the doorbell as his phone rings.] Hello?

Lindsay: Hey, Stiles, I catch you at a bad time?

Stiles: I was just about to meet up with my dinner date. What's up?

Lindsay: We found something ... well, we found the missing bodies, but we found something else to go with it. Something computer-y. I know you said you got plans, but think you could take a look at it?

Lydia: [opens the door] I need five more minutes. [as per usual]

Stiles: Hold on [puts his hand over the phone] Apparently I'm being called into a side job for Lindsay. It's about the missing bodies.

Lydia: [glances up curiously] Did they find them?

Stiles: Yeah, and something the do with a computer they want me to help with.

Lydia: [she pauses for a moment, before tipping her head to the side] Can I come?

Stiles: [puts the phone to his head] I'm bringing Lydia with me. Where do you need me to meet you?

Lindsay: We've got what looks like a computer encryption and a flash drive. What do you need to figure that out?

Stiles: A computer. The one at the lab would be better but I'd have to explain why I'm there.

Lindsay: It's an ongoing police investigation and it'll probably have to go into evidence anyway so the lab is fine. I'll have Flack talk to Detective Taylor. In this traffic we can be there in thirty.

Stiles: Probably be the same for us. I'll grab a pizza or two on the way. [and he's hanging up]

Lindsay: [and she's pulling out of her parking spot again] You want to stop and change before we head back to the lab?

Parrish: No. I'm fine.

Lindsay: Okay. [and with that she turns and starts heading over to the lab]

Stiles: [and he will be there with pizza sitting across a table from Lydia. His station is totally covered in Star Wars funkos]

Lindsay: Hey. Sorry to crash your dinner plans.

Lydia: [she shrugs] I found half these bodies - I want to know what happened to them just as much as you do.

Stiles: What do you have?

Parrish: This. [Hands over paper and USB]

Lydia: [her head tips to the side for a moment, before reaching for the paper gently] Can I see that?

Stiles: Sure. [hands her the paper and rolls to his computer to connect the USB]

Lydia: [and she's just going to stare at it carefully, before she steals a clean piece of paper from Stiles' desk and starts ... recopying it as well as filling in the blanks that had been burned away]

Stiles: [and he's going to open the only file on the drive and look, it's the code as well, which ends after running looking for a cypher key] Well, this is going to be interesting.

Lydia: [yeah, she's just going to keep going until she hits the bottom and then the pen stops]

Lindsay: [squints at her, before looking at the paper] How did you know that?

Parrish: [and he's going to just... hover over Lydia and have been watching over her shoulder]

Stiles: She's good with numbers.

Lydia: [doesn't respond to then, her eyes a bit dazed and distant before she turns and pushes Stiles out of the way, her fingers poised over the keyboard]

Stiles: Um, okay. Yeah, go ahead.

Lydia: [she takes a moment closing her eyes and she slowly taps through each of the keys and big block letters appear on the screen: A-R-I-E-L. Then she hits enter and the screen starts to come to life. A few seconds later she blinks and her eyes clear, confused] What'd I do?

Stiles: I don't know, but you figured out the cypher. I'm kinda jealous.

Parrish: [joining them] It's a list of names.

Lydia: [she glances up at the list, her eyes roaming over it before her eyebrows go up] Very familiar names. [hers being one of them]

Stiles: [leans in] Why is my name on here? And Malia...

Lydia: [pauses before looking back over her shoulder at Jordan] And you.

Parrish: Supernatural creatures.

Lydia: [her eyebrow goes up] So you are something. [she was right. SUCK IT DEREK.]

Parrish: Apparently. [looks at Lindsay]

Lydia: I knew it. [moving on] Why did someone put this list together, and more importantly, how did they find out about us?

Parrish: [he's still reading the list, and his finger points to a name] Linds... isn't that one of the missing teens?

Lindsay: [takes another step closer before nodding her agreement] Yeah. There's a couple of them on here, actually.

Parrish: Can you get us a copy of this, Stiles? We're going to need to run this list down and check on all these people.

Lydia: [and she will slide out of the way so Stiles can have his computer back]

Stiles: [and he will print out the list. A few times, and then save it as a PDF and send it off to Verity and Marcus with an urgent 'these people are in danger do you know them" memo]

Lindsay: [will take the print out from him, before grabbing her phone] I'm gonna go fill Derek in.

Stiles: Okay [texting Malia to find out where she is]

Malia: At Jeremy's, why?

Stiles: Listen, we just found what may be a hit list related to those body's Derek's been finding and we're both on it. Can you safely get him and you to the apartments?

Malia: [glances back over her shoulder and nods] Yeah. Sure, we can take cab.

Stiles: Be careful. I'm on my way back as well.

Malia: Okay. See you soon.

Stiles: [looks up] Sam going to be around soon, or you want to come back to my place?

Lydia: [she sighs before reaching for her phone to text him and see if he's off work]

Sam: Nope, working all night for a big trail tomorrow. Everything okay?

Lydia: [text: "Everything's fine. I'll tell you later."] Sam's going to be out all night. [there's a beat as she looks up at him] I don't have a choice, do I?

Stiles: Part of me wants to say yes, but if whoever wrote this knows we know we're on it, they may up whatever they are doing to get at us.

Lydia: [sighs] Can we stop back by my place again so I can get some stuff?

Stiles: [deadpan] No, you'll have to wear that same outfit for a week.

Lydia: [eyes narrow, before she glances up at Parrish] So what are you? [just so she can finally know since it's been driving her nuts since she met him]

Parrish: I can probably stay at the station.

Lydia: That's not what I asked you.

Lindsay: You can stay with me. And Cap wants us back at the station to fill him in so we gotta go.

Parrish: [to Lydia] I don't know.]to Lindsay] You sure?

Lindsay: Positive. My place is way better than the station. My couch is awesome.

Parrish: Okay then.

Lindsay: Okay. Precinct to loop in Flack then your place to grab some stuff and then home. You two want us to work the penthouse into that? [to Stiles and Lydia]

Lydia: It would be my apartment, then the penthouse so I'm going to guess no.

Stiles: We'll get a cab.

Lindsay: Alright. Stay safe.

Stiles: You too.

Lindsay: [and the two of them head out to the station]

Stiles: Alright, let's blow this place. [texting Laura so she knows there is incoming and he will explain when he gets there]

Lydia: [and off they go to Lydia's apartment, where she'll take only a manageable amount of time to get some stuff together before they head to the penthouse]

Stiles: [and as they are getting out of the cab, he has the feeling they are being watched]

Lydia: [glances back at him because she knows his worried face] Stiles?

Stiles: We need to get inside.

Lydia: Okay. [And she grabs her bag and starts to head towards the door]

Stiles: [and there is mechanical clicking from the left of them and Stiles snarls softly, backing up to the door with her]

Lydia: [turns at the sound, before pushing the door open so they can get inside]

Stiles: [and as they are backing up to the door, there are three creatures in leather masks that come into view] Lydia, get to the elevator.

Lydia: [he doesn't have to tell her twice. She's just going to break out in a full out run for the elevator and start hitting the button]

Stiles: [looks back at the elevator, and then approaching leather men. there isn't enough time, and he flicks his claws and fangs out, his eyes going yellow. He can at least give her time to get upstairs]

Lydia: [NO SHE IS NOT GOOD WITH THAT PLAN] Stiles!

Stiles: [looking over his shoulder] Get upstairs!

Lydia: I can't just leave you here!

Stiles: If you don't they will get us both. Get Laura!

Lydia: [the doors open and she knows that she can't do anything for him so she just jumps into the elevator and hitting the button for the penthouse. Then she pulls out her phone and calls Detective Esposito and hopes he's home because she probably doesn't have Laura's number]

Esposito: [goes to answer his phone] Lydia?

Lydia: Are you home? There's something in the lobby and Stiles can't fight it on his own.

Esposito: Yeah. Hold on -- LAUARA!

Laura: Yeah?

Esposito: Stiles - Downstairs now!

Laura: [and she's going to just ... take the stairs, so by the time Lydia arrives on the penthouse floor, Laura's already gone]

Stiles: [however, by the time Laura gets there, so is Stiles. All that remains are his crushed worked glasses from his jacket]

Laura: [and she's going to try and follow the scent and see if that gets her anywhere]

Stiles: [she will get as far as the sewer and then... well, sewer]

Laura: Damnit. [and she's now going to call her brother]

Derek: [and they have got a team out now working on the scene] Yeah?

Laura: Something just took Stiles.

Derek: Fuck. He was just with Jordan and Lindsay.

Laura: Yeah, and he and Lydia were on their way back here when something attacked them in the lobby. Lydia made it into the elevator but by the time I got downstairs, Stiles was gone. I tried to follow the scent but they took him into the sewers.

Derek: Did she get a look at what took him? We can call it in.

Laura: I don't know, I didn't talk to her. Javi probably has her now.

Derek: Get upstairs and lock the doors. Find out what Lydia knows and call me back.

Laura: Okay. I'm heading back there now. [and with that she will return to the penthouse]

Esposito: [and he's going to be waiting, watching the elevator with his gun out]

Laura: [and out she comes looking frustrated] They took him.

Esposito: Damnit. [and he ushers her back inside and locks the door]

Laura: Where's Lydia?

Esposito: She's in the den watching Thomas.

Laura: [and she will turn and head into the den where Lydia is trying to calm Thomas and not being very good at it. Laura takes him easily and Lydia is happy to let him go] I need you to call Derek and tell him what you saw.

Lydia: Oh ... kay. [and she'll pull out her phone] Where's Stiles?

Esposito: [he just sets his jaw.] I'm going to get dressed and call Ryan in on this.

Laura: Whatever it was took him.

Lydia: [she looks up and her eyes softened with worry for a moment before she finishes calling Derek and putting her phone to her ear]

Derek: [answers quickly] Tell me what you know, Lydia.

Lydia: Did you talk to Lindsay yet?

Derek: About the list you guys found?

Lydia: Yeah. Stiles and I are on it. When we got back to your sister's building Stiles heard something so we tried to get inside. There were three of them and they were wearing these ... leather masks. Stiles stayed behind to fight them and told me to get upstairs and get Laura. I tried to call Detective Esposito as soon as I could.

Derek: Leather masks? Any kinds of details on them?

Lydia: I didn't really see them - I was running for the elevator.

Derek: We are putting out a kidnapping report on him as we speak. We're going to find him, Lydia.

Lydia: [swallows hard before she huffs] I shouldn't have just left him.

Derek: If you hadn't, they probably would have you both. He wanted to protect you, and he did. Just stay with Laura and she will take care of you, ok?

Lydia: Okay. [there's a beat before she looks up at Laura and Espo] Are Malia and Jeremy here yet?

Esposito: There's supposed to be coming here?

Lydia: They were on the list too. Well, Jeremy wasn't, but Malia was. Stiles said he talked to her.

Derek: Give the phone to my sister a moment?

Lydia: [nods and holds the phone out to Laura who takes it]

Laura: Derek?

Derek: Malia's on this list too. Get Peter to help you track her down before she gets taken too.

Laura: Okay. I'll call him. You find my second.

Derek: Yeah. After I call Cora. [because someone has to]

Laura: I can call Cora. Though I have a feeling she might already know.

Derek: Well, if so, she's in as much danger as anyone on that list.

Laura: I know. I'll make the phone calls, you just keep working your case.

Derek: I'll call with updates.

Laura: [and she hangs up before turning to Javi with Thomas] Can you put him down, please?

Esposito: Yeah, then I'm gonna go meet up with Ryan and help Derek out.

Laura: Okay. I'll start making phone calls.

Esposito: [leans in to kiss his wife and then pick up Thomas] Come on, little man. Time for sleep.

Laura: [shows Lydia where the guest room is and tells her to make herself comfortable - or as comfortable as she can in these circumstances, and opts to call Peter first before Cora]

Peter: [completely oblivious to everything, curled up on the couch with a book half asleep. He stirs when the phone rings, reaching for it] Hello, Laura.

Laura: I need you to go and track down Malia. From what I've been told she left Jeremy's place about an hour ago and hasn't gotten here yet.

Peter: What's wrong? [sitting up]

Laura: [and she'll fill him in on the missing bodies, the list too and Stiles getting taken] Malia was on the list too.

Peter: [and he's up and moving] I will head to Jeremy's apartment and find her. Then I will come to the apartment.

Laura: Good. I don't need any more pack members down tonight.

Peter: We will find him, Laura. Stiles is very resilient. This will not be his first rodeo.

Laura: I know. I just didn't want to have to do this rodeo again.

Peter: Neither do I. I'll call when I have news.

Laura: Thank you. [and she's going to hang up and try and call both Malia and Jeremy]

Jeremy: [Sorry, can't come to the phone right now. Creepy men in masks chasing them]

Laura: [grrrrr arrrrgh.]

Jeremy: [and he's going to turn them down another street and crap, it's a dead end] Malia!

Malia: [skids to a stop next to him, before glancing around and reaching for the fire escape to yank it down] Up! Go up!

Jeremy: [and he's going to do as she says, but those freaks are getting closer]

Malia: [turns and growls at them, her eyes flashing, daring them to come closer]

Jeremy: Malia!

Malia: Go!

Jeremy: I'm not going to leave you.

Malia: They don't want you!

Jeremy: And I'm not going to let them have you!

Malia: Jeremy - [and the protest dies as one of them catches up to her and tosses her against the far wall of the alley]

Jeremy: [and yeah, he's going to jump down and try and take them on hand to hand]

Malia: [it takes her a moment to come back to herself, and all she sees is Jeremy trying to fight them and she can't let anything happen to him. NOT AGAIN is echoing in her head and she surges forward, emotion pounding in her ears and before she even realizes what's happening her body is shifting in ways she hadn't anticipated]

Jeremy: [and eventually a hard hit is going to send him into a wall and he's going to hit hard and be stunned, not moving and his vision doubled]

Malia: [and when they turn around, they don't have a girl on their hands but a coyote, eyes glowing blue and snarling hard. all her old instincts rush back to the surface and she charges them hard and fast, going right for the throat]

Jeremy: [is that a... nope, totally hallucinating.]

Malia: [and she's just going to tear some bad guys apart, nbd. and when she's done, make her way over to Jeremy and nose him to make sure he's okay and alive]

Jeremy: [and he will groan and lift his head, and smile a bit] Good doggie.

Malia: [licks his face gently before she hears footsteps coming their way and will immediately turn and snarl in response, a warning to stay away]

Peter: [and he's walking into the alley, his run slowing to a jog. He hears the snarl and looks over at the coyote and Jeremy] It's okay, girl... I'm not going to hurt him.

Malia: [it takes a moment before the human girl recognizes her father and starts to rise to the surface again. but with that awareness comes an awareness of what she's done and there's another soft whine, licking at her paws and tasted blood]

Peter: [and at the same time he gets his daughter's scent and sighs, looking back at the dead bodies and then them] It's ok, Malia. You protected him.

Malia: [she glances him before glances back to Jeremy, her head dropping a bit to make sure he isn't angry with her]

Jeremy: Good doggie. [nope, he has a concussion and is going to pet Malia's head, and then just pass out]

Malia: [whines louder, before looking back at Peter. Then she pads forward and nudges at him again to try and wake him up]

Peter: Let's get him back to the apartment and I can call Marcus to come check on him, okay?

Malia: [she would love to help you with that, Peter, but she's ... not exactly sure how to get back to herself right now. Also knows from experience she would be naked and her clothes are kind of in shreds so she's going to stay in puppy form for now.]

Peter: [that's fine. He really doubts the ASPCA is out and about. So off they go to the apartment]

Malia: [and she's going to just stay wherever they put him - if it's in her room, she'll just curl up on bed next to him, and if it's on the couch, she'll lie over his legs]

Marcus: [and he will come over and check on Jeremy and yes, concussion but okay otherwise.]

Peter: [calls in the dead bodies to Derek]

Derek: [never getting any sleep again]

Malia: [will just wait quietly for Jeremy to wake up]

Laura: [will let her sister stay in puppy form until she's ready to get out of it]

Cora: [FREAKING OUT IN BOSTON, THANKS DREAD DOCTORS]

Lydia: [just staying in the guest room, staring at her phone, trying to figure out what she's going to tell Sam]

Gloria: [with Derek, never getting any sleep]

Stiles: [hooked up to a machine that's keeping him powerless, watching Valek drilling a hole into Meredith's head]

Cora: [good times]

Derek: [eventually he is going to just fall asleep at his desk after working two days straight]

Beckett: [comes in looking for him and when she finds him, she smiles moving closer to rest her hands on his shoulders]

Derek: [jumps, on hyper alert. But her scent hits and he sighs] Hey.

Beckett: Your captain called and told me to drag you home so you can sleep in an actual bed and not make him look bad.

Derek: We haven't found Stiles yet.

Beckett: I know. But you need to sleep, or you never will. So come home, take a break, and start with fresh eyes in the morning.

Derek: [looks over to see where Gloria is]

Gloria: [in Flack's office, also getting told to go home]

Derek: Alright, I know when I'm beat.

Beckett: Good. [gently pulls him up] Let's go home.

Derek: [sighs and grabs his jacket] Alright. I'll text Laura to let her know.

Beckett: Good. I'll drive. [and she will take him home with aims to put him right to bed]

Derek: [he will have no complaints, and will instead pass out the moment his head hits the pillow]

Beckett: [yep, that's what she expected. she will just climb into bed and curl up with him]

Derek: [and he will snuggle into her, needing someone to be the strong one for a while]

Beckett: [she is good with that. and eventually she will pass out herself]

Derek: [and he will totally wake up with his nose buried in her neck]

Beckett: [comfy. she's probably good for and she'll wake up when she feels him move]

Derek: [nuzzles closer]

Beckett: [stirs and sighs softly, just settling comfortably]

Derek: Promise me if some supernatural psychotic comes after me, you'll take them all out to find me.

Beckett: You have my word.

Derek: Awesome. [leans back to kiss her]

Beckett: [kisses him back softly] You okay?

Derek: I'm worried about Stiles. Jordan is on lockdown. Malia and Lydia are under my sister's protection... and there are more and more kids disappearing.

Beckett: You'll find him. You just need to follow the evidence.

Derek: Very has ears in the sewers. Trying to see what other cryptids are hearing. But the last time he was kidnapped he came back different.

Beckett: You're worried he's going to hurt your sister again?

Derek: One of them.

Beckett: Don't get ahead of yourself. Right now, we just need to focus on finding him.

Derek: That's what I'm doing. I'll admit, I miss bouncing ideas off you.

Beckett: Well, kidnapping does fall into federal territory. It wouldn't be hard to pitch me getting loaned out to my boss.

Derek: FBI got a division for non-human problems?

Beckett: Not necessarily, no. But are you advertising it as such?

Derek: No.

Beckett: Then it's just a kidnapping case.

Derek: I'll ask Flack then.

Beckett: Good.

Derek: So how long are you supposed to keep me?

Beckett: Are you done sleeping?

Derek: For now, yeah.

Beckett: Then I guess you better get back to work.

Derek: [groans, put goes to push himself out of bed]

Beckett: [presses a kiss to his shoulder] I'll make breakfast.

Derek: It'll be nice to shower here and not in the locker room.

Beckett: I thought you might think so.

Derek: Want to join me?

Beckett: [glances at the clock] I think I've got time.

Derek: Chalk it up to giving me an inspiring pep talk.

Beckett: [she laughs] The more inspiring the better, right?

Derek: Oh yes. I think I need a lot of inspiration.

Beckett: Guess I better get started.

Derek: [and he will let her be as inspirational as she wants to be]

Beckett: [yep. and she will make sure he's good and inspired before he heads back to work]
