new york wolves } { of next steps and holiday vacations

Lydia: [and when Sam knocks on Lydia's door, as usual, she opens it with] Hey. Give me five more minutes?

Sam: Sure. [this is why he gets reservation 15 minutes after when he says they are for]

Lydia: [smart boy, Sam. And she closes the door behind him before going to finish up the routine] How was work, other than short?

Sam: Good. When Lewis is in a good mood, the office is relaxed.

Lydia: That's good. [and eventually she emerges again, dressed for dinner]

Sam: [and he smiles] You look amazing.

Lydia: [she smiles back] Thank you. So where are we going?

Sam: Annisa

Lydia: That sounds delicious.

Sam: It's different. I heard that her menu was inspired by her trip across the world.

Lydia: Then it should be fun. I'm ready when you are.

Sam: Let's go. [and he will hail a cab and they are on their way to a nice dinner]

Lydia: [which is very nice, but Lydia's got a lot bouncing around in her head for most of it so she is occasionally easily distracted]

Sam: [and after they will go and take a nice stroll around downtown near Rockefeller Center] You've been a bit distracted today.

Lydia: [she glances back to him before shrugging] Just thinking about some stuff.

Sam: Anything I can help with?

Lydia: [she gives a small shrug] Just ... trying to figure out what my next step is.

Sam: In school?

Lydia: In ... general.

Sam: Oh. Well, I hope that step includes me?

Lydia: I'm hoping, anyway. I wasn't planning on letting you go anywhere.

Sam: Good. I approve of that plan.

Lydia: Good. [another beat] How do you feel about Pomeranians?

Sam: The little dog? I like dogs.

Lydia: Yeah, but there are people who like dogs but not little dogs.

Sam: My brother isn't fond of them, but he once got chased by a yorkie across town so he has reason to.

Lydia: Well, Prada doesn't chase.

Sam: Then we should be fine. When did you get a dog?

Lydia: When I was thirteen. He's still back in Beacon Hills but I'd like to bring him here eventually. Especially if I'm going to stay.

Sam: Is he going to be okay? I mean, he's got to be old and moving across country may not be good for him.

Lydia: Maybe. Nothing is definite yet. Where I'm living right now isn't pet friendly anyway.

Sam: Ah.

Lydia: But if I'm planning for my future, I want my dog to be a part of it.

Sam: So you want your dog here, and want to make sure I'm okay with him. [thinks] Are you asking if I want to move in together with you?

Lydia: Maybe? Stiles got me thinking about it.

Sam: Well, splitting the rent would make it that I didn't have to work as much...

Lydia: Always a bonus.

Sam: What would keep you from wanting to?

Lydia: [she pauses playing with his fingers as she considers for a moment] It's ... soon.

Sam: It's been about ten months... almost eleven.

Lydia: I've also never lived with a boyfriend before.

Sam: Ah. Have you had a roommate before at all?

Lydia: Allison, in college.

Sam: Pretty much like that, but we're messier and clueless.

Lydia: I also wasn't sleeping with her. And you haven't met Allison yet either.

Sam: Is meeting Allison a requirement to moving in with you?

Lydia: Probably, she's been on my case about it for months.

Sam: She in town?

Lydia: No, she's in Beacon Hills.

Sam: So California. You going to fly her all the way out here for a boyfriend interview?

Lydia: No. But she visits. [a beat] Or you could go back to Beacon Hills with me for a holiday.

Sam: ... And use me as a buffer for awkward family times?

Lydia: It'd be up to you.

Sam: Well, I have some vacation time. I probably could swing a holiday but I have to get Lewis to approve it.

Lydia: [makes a face at the mention of Lewis] It's up to you. I'm not trying to pressure you one way or the other. I know how you feel about holidays.

Sam: Yeah, but you don't like dealing with your families. I don't care about holidays...

Lydia: I like dealing with my mom. And I'm sure she'd like to meet you too. It's really only my dad and his ... side of things that is a problem and that's one night for dinner.

Sam: Let me put in for the time and see what I can get?

Lydia: [she nods] Sure. Of course.

Sam: Good. Have you actually met my brother yet?

Lydia: No. Just heard about him.

Sam: I could ask him to come out this way one day so you can meet him. He's... a character.

Lydia: If you want to, sure.

Sam: You show me your family, I show you mine.

Lydia: Do we want to run the risk of doing it all together?

Sam: Not unless you want my brother to completely ruin any chance of your parents liking me.

Lydia: Only one parent. My mom is the only one that matters.

Sam: So we invite my brother to meet us at your dad’s? [grins]

Lydia: [she laughs] I think that actually sounds like a plan.

Sam: It may be the last Thanksgiving you'll have to worry about with him.

Lydia: Don't get my hopes up.

Sam: I can try.

Lydia: [she smirks as she leans in to kiss him] He can come the night before and meet my mom in something smaller. And then we can gauge how big a splash we want him to make at my dad's.

Sam: [kisses her back] First vacation time. [kiss again] And then check with brother...

Lydia: [hums as she kisses him again] So tomorrow's problems, basically.

Sam: Pretty much. Right now, we have today problems to worry about.

Lydia: Though I think right now, all we have to worry about is getting back to your place and enjoying the end of our date.

Sam: That was the same worry I had. [grins]

Lydia: [she laughs] Then let's go.

Sam: [and off they go back to his place]

Lydia: [where they very much enjoy the rest of their date]

Sam: [oh yeah, and morning snuggles?]

Lydia: [definitely. and while she's curled up with him and playing with his fingers, she'll ask:] Do you want to live with me? [it's the one thing that hasn't been asked in all their considerations and holiday plans]

Sam: [kisses her neck] I think I'd like that a lot.

Lydia: [closes her eyes as she leans back against him] Me too.

Sam: I guess we should look for a bigger place. That way Prada can join us.

Lydia: [she nods] Yeah. And because my stuff isn't going to fit in your closet.

Sam: So a two bedroom then, huh?

Lydia: [she laughs] Maybe. We'll see what we find.

Sam: One for us, one for the clothes.

Lydia: Or we could find a place with a really big closet.

Sam: We'll see. It'll depend on the market.

Lydia: [she nods] We can look later.

Sam: Much later [kissing her and rolling over top of her]

Lydia: [And she will happily kiss him back, letting him settle over her]

Sam: [and morning sexy times a go]

Lydia: [yep. but eventually she will have to extract herself out of bed to shower and go to class]

Sam: [yeah. real life. bah]

Lydia: [yes, bah. but they had a very good morning at least]

Sam: [oh yeah. great morning.]
