puppy love } { of misunderstands and family confusion

Derek: [and he is going to go and sit with her] Sorry.

Allison: It's not your fault. Let's just get this done, okay?

Derek: Yeah, sure. Do you just want to work on this in school this week, or do we dare try to work after school one day?

Allison: Whatever is better. I know you have sports and stuff.

Derek: No, season is over. I'm free now.

Allison: A couple extra library days will get it done faster, then.

Derek: Okay. Just let me know when.

Allison: Okay. [and she'll keep her eyes on her books, trying to keep this just business]

Derek: [after a while] I'm also sorry about us.

Allison: You know, if you didn't want to be friends with me anymore, you could have just said so. You didn't have to drag Kate into it.

Derek: I didn't not want to be friends. I liked being friends with you a lot.

Allison: Then why make up that whole story about Kate and your sister?

Derek: I didn't make it up, Allison.

Allison: Well, she says it never happened.

Derek: Well, how do you think I know her name. You never told me about her, or that she was here.

Allison: My family has been in and out of Beacon Hills for years, also you friended me on Facebook. People can do crazy things with the internet these days.

Derek: And you really think I'd do something like that for no reason? Especially when you know I didn't want to.

Allison: I don't know, Derek! But you're asking me to choose between you, who I barely know, and a woman who is more than my aunt - she's like my big sister.

Derek: [is about to respond but the teacher goes to shush them]

Allison: [huffs and looks down again] Let's just get through this project, okay?

Derek: Okay.

Allison: [and she will just go back to work]

Derek: [and so will he, shoulders slumped in defeat]

Allison: [sorry, Derek. Argent loyalty runs deep]

Derek: [and when the bell rings, he will go to start packing up his stuff] Just tell me when you want to meet.

Allison: Yeah, I'll let you know. [and with that she goes to head off to her next class]

Derek: [and he's going to kick a locker when he thinks she's out of hearing distance before storming off to his next class]

Allison: [glances back over her shoulder and is just ... so confused]

Stiles: [and he will be at his locker, looking down as well] Wow, he's pissed.

Allison: [glances over and frowns] I don't know why. He's the one who put himself in this situation.

Stiles: What situation is that?

Allison: [shakes her head] He made up this story about my aunt and he expects me to just believe him, when it's so ridiculous.

Stiles: Story? Are you talking about when she was in the woods threatening him via Cora?

Allison: [turns back to him and frowns] He told you about that?

Stiles: No, I was there. I pushed Cora behind me because she was aiming a gun at her. We were on our first date too, so thank her for screwing that up for me, alright?

Allison: [her eyes widened because no one mentioned to her that Stiles had been there] What?

Stiles: Yeah. She was out there hunting or target practice or something. I don't know. But she was NOT happy you and Derek were seeing each other.

Allison: [part of her doesn't want to believe it, she wants to think that Derek just conned Stiles into helping sell this stupid story, but why would he? and those were details that Derek hadn't told her] Why would she care?

Stiles: From what I gather, your family and his family didn't get along well the last time they were town. Maybe Kate and his uncle Peter had a thing? Who knows. But it's very Romeo and Juliet that you two had going on, and we all know how that story ends.

Allison: None of this makes any sense.

Stiles: [snorts as he closes his locker] Welcome to Beacon Hills. Nothing makes sense here. You just have to trust your gut.

Allison: [is just quiet for a moment, before the second bell rings] I have to get to class.

Stiles: Have fun.

Allison: [and she will had back to class and keep turning this over in her head]

Jackson: [and when lunch comes around, he will be talking about how the lacrosse team is doing and so on]

Allison: [so does not care, and neither really does Lydia]

Jackson: [But he's too self-absorbed to notice and will keep talking until he's made to stop]

Lydia: [ignoring him] So are Cora and Stiles actually dating now?

Allison: That's what Stiles said.

Lydia: Interesting.

Jackson: Wait, did you say Cora's dating the geek?

Allison: His name is Stiles. And yes.

Jackson: I know what his name is. Or what he says it is. Stiles isn't his actual name.

Lydia: Can you pronounce his actual name?

Jackson: I don't think his name is actual English.

Lydia: Then why don't we stick with Stiles and leave it at that.

Jackson: Sure. [or Geek. The geek and the dweeb]

Lydia: Anyway. I didn't think she was interested in dating at all.

Allison: Apparently she's interested in him.

Jackson: Which is hilarious since he tried to beat up her brother.

Lydia: You don't know what you're talking about.

Jackson: No, he did. That's why Stiles is in detention every day.

Lydia: But the reasons why are just as important, and frankly Derek deserved it.

Jackson: DIdn't say he did or didn't, just that it happened.

Lydia: Whatever.

Jackson: But it's probably good that you stopped talking to him anyway, Allison. He's a prick.

Allison: I'm not so sure about that anymore.

Jackson: About what?

Allison: About not talking to Derek.

Jackson: What's the change of heart? He was an ass to you.

Allison: Because I thought he was lying about my aunt. But it turns out he might not have been lying.

Jackson: [nods] Seriously?

Allison: Stiles said he was there when Kate threatened Derek's sister. Why would he lie about that for Derek?

Jackson: To get you to be sympathetic and make Cora happy because Derek's no longer the bad guy?

Lydia: Far as I know, Cora's still angry with Derek for a lot more than this whole situation, so I don't think currying favor with her brother would actually get Derek anywhere.

Jackson: [shrugs] Whatever. What does it matter anyway?

Allison: [sighs and drops her voice] Because he said my aunt held a gun to her head.

Jackson: Did she say she did?

Allison: No, she said it never even happened. And I believed her.

Jackson: And now you don't because of Stiles?

Allison: And now I don't because no one even mentioned Stiles being there until right now.

Jackson: I'd still check with your aunt. She doesn't have a reason to lie to you.

Allison: Yeah. You're right.

Jackson: [and he will move on to the weekend and what are they going to be doing]

Allison: [and she will go back to thinking things over]

Derek: [and the bell will ring, and he will be in the hallway putting his stuff in his locker and looking for his math book]

Allison: [and she'll see him there, but she doesn't know what to do]

Derek: [he heard the conversation across the lunchroom so he's going to just sigh and press his head to the door because yup, left it at home]

Allison: [there's a beat and ...] Did you forget something?

Derek: [sigh] Yeah, I left my math book at home. I was up late doing my homework... which is also probably stuck in the pages I was working on.

Allison: I can't do anything about the homework but you can borrow my textbook?

Derek: I can probably do it quickly since I know the answers. But are you sure?

Allison: Yeah. I already had math today.

Derek: Thanks. [and he will walk over to her] I appreciate it.

Allison: [fishes out the book and hands it to him] Just give it back to me in the library later.

Derek: Of course.

Allison: [she nods] See you later. [and she's going to go because she doesn't know what else to say]

Derek: [and he doesn't either, and so he will just go to class]
