new york wolves } { of weddings and future honeymoons

Beckett: You look fine.

Derek: I have a cowlick.

Beckett: It's not that bad.

Derek: [looking in the limo mirror] You really sure?

Beckett: Really. And by the time we get there, the people who actually care will probably be too drunk to notice.

Derek: You forget, my family can't get drunk.

Beckett: But will they actually care? Or will be too busy fawning over the ring bearer.

Derek: We can only hope. Though Peter does notice everything.

Beckett: It's your wedding day. I think he'll cut you a break.

Derek: [laughs] You think. [but he is just happy and leans back, looking at her] You look so beautiful.

Beckett: [she smiles] You look pretty good yourself.

Derek: [leans in to kiss her, his hand gently stroking her cheek]

Beckett: [kisses him back, inching as close as she can]

Derek: [chuckles after a bit] Do we have to go to the reception? Because I'd much rather the hotel right now...

Beckett: I think we at least have to put in an appearance.

Derek: Stupid traditions.

Beckett: There used to be a tradition that the bride and groom got to leave halfway through the party.

Derek: I think we should totally enforce that. We cut the cake, and then sneak out the back.

Beckett: I think that sounds like a plan. I don't think anyone would miss us.

Derek: It's always good to have a plan.

Beckett: Perfect.

Derek: [and they will arrive at the old haunt with the balloons out front and the sights of everyone inside] Ready?

Beckett: Let's do it.

Derek: [and he will get out first to help her out of the limo]

Esposito: [letting the DJ know that the bride and groom are there]

Laura: [is just hanging out in a booth with Tommy who did an excellent job as ring bearer even if he's a little tuckered out now]

Castle: [grabbing the mic from the DJ] Alright folks, here they are, the reason we're all here - the bride and groom!

Beckett: [and the room erupts into cheers as they laugh and make their way in]

Castle: So I believe that tradition calls for a first dance, so let's dim the lights and get it all romantic for Mr. and Mrs. Beckett.

Derek: [looks at Castle, then Kate because what?!]

Beckett: [is just as confused]

Lindsay: Is that really wrong though?

Jordan: No, not really.

Ryan: Pretty accurate to me. [is totally high fiving Espo who has a smug grin]

Beckett: [rolls her eyes] So is someone going to get us a drink or what?

Derek: I think we have to dance first. [brings her out to the dance floor]

Beckett: [laughs as she goes easily] If we must.

Derek: [and he will just pull her in close as they slow dance to their song]

Beckett: [and she'll lean into him, resting her chin against his shoulder]

Derek: [and they will look adorable and people are taking video and pictures, and then soon there is a chorus of spoons clinking against glasses]

Beckett: [which means there's lots of kissing]

Derek: [yup, and finally the song ends and there's cheering at the kissing] I think we can get that drink now.

Beckett: Please.

Peter: [and he will have heard them and brings over two flutes of champagne] Here you both go.

Beckett: Thank you, Peter.

Peter: You're welcome, my dear. [and he will head off to join Nadia]

Beckett: [turning to her husband] I think we also need some food.

Derek: Please. [and he will slip one hand around her waist and guide her to the table for the wedding party who gets waited on, as opposed to the buffet]

Beckett: [and they will start to chow down while the rest of the wedding gets up to dance]

Stiles: [takes Cora's hand and leads her out to the dancefloor]

Cora: [goes with him, and slips her arm around his shoulders with a happy smile] Hi.

Stiles: [his go around her waist] Hi. You make a very beautiful bridesmaid.

Cora: Thank you. But you're my date, you're supposed to tell me I'm pretty.

Stiles: But you being pretty is a given. You really have a hard time not being pretty.

Cora: [she laughs] Well, I'm glad you think so.

Stiles: [leans in close] Of course, I think that dress would look much better on the floor of the bedroom.

Cora: Mmmm. [she laughs] Well, maybe if you play your cards right.

Stiles: Good thing I keep a few aces up my sleeve.

Cora: Do you?

Stiles: Of course. Never know when I need to play them.

Cora: And what are these aces, exactly?

Stiles: I can't tell you where my aces are hidden. That defeats the whole purpose of hiding them.

Cora: I didn't ask where they were. I asked what they were.

Stiles: I can't tell you that either.

Cora: Well, what can you tell me?

Stiles: [leans in real close, lowering his voice and talking into her ear to make sure only she can hear him, whispering about what he intends to do with her using his tie later]

Cora: [her eyes widen a bit at that, before she smirks] I see.

Stiles: [and he will kiss her neck in that sweet spot, dragging his teeth along it a moment before standing back up straight, smirking] That's just the beginning. A teaser.

Cora: It's not nice to tease.

Stiles: But you know I always go through with my plans.

Cora: I do. But I'm not exactly patient.

Stiles: It's your brother's wedding. Pretty sure you're required to be here as long as he is.

Cora: Why is that a rule?

Stiles: Etiquette.

Cora: I think it's a dumb rule.

Stiles: Of course, it wouldn't be noticed if we left for an extended bathroom break...

Cora: Extended bathroom break?

Stiles: That can be taken in an unoccupied room...

Cora: You are aware that this is a room full of werewolf ears.

Stiles: You really don't think half of them aren't having similar thoughts. Just not of you. I'd be really worried about some of them if they were.

Cora: So would I. But I also don't want them listening in.

Stiles: [sighs] Then we will have to just tough it out and wait.

Cora: [she laughs] Sorry to disappoint.

Stiles: I love you. [laughing]

Cora: I love you too.

Hal: [having maneuvered him and Alexis next to them] You two stop being adorable.

Cora: I don't think that's possible.

Stiles: We were just born this way. Don't be jealous.

Hal: I'm not jealous. You're just going to distract from the bride and groom.

Cora: I also don't think that's possible.

Hal: I don't know, you've had a bunch of people looking over at you two with interest.

Cora: Oh really?

Stiles: [bites his lips a bit. whoops]

Hal: Yeah. And I think Derek was glaring a bit.

Cora: [there's a look at that before she actually glances over to her brother who she doubts is staring at her]

Derek: [looks over at her as well, and then shakes his head, laughing]

Cora: Yeah, that's what I thought.

Hal: What?

Cora: My brother does not care.

Stiles: So shoo, you two go off and be all couple-y elsewhere.

Alexis: I do not disagree.

Hal: Alright.

Alexis: [smirks and drags him to a different corner of the dance floor]

Tommy: [toddles over and face plants into his uncle's leg]

Derek: [looks down] Hey little man.

Tommy: 'm tired. [or at least that's the theory given the way his voice is muffled by Derek's pants]

Derek: [picks him up, hitching him on his hip] well you did a lot of hard work today. Sure you don't want to stay up for cake and ice cream?

Tommy: [nods because he does want cake, but the way he's burying is face in Derek's shoulder that says while the spirit is willing, the body, not so much]

Derek: [rocks him a bit] Do you want to hide under my table and take a nap? I can wake you up when is time to cut the cake.

Tommy: Mommy says 'll get my pants dirty. [sounds so dejected at that]

Derek: You wanna lay on my jacket?

Tommy: [just nods, that sounds nice]

Derek: [and he will walk his nephew to his table and kneel beside it. He puts Tommy down, and then takes off his jacket, laying it so that the inside is on the floor] There you go, little man. I'll come get you when there is cake. [and the photographer is so taking their photo]

Tommy: [that's cool, he'll just curl up on the floor now] Night night.

Derek: [he will lean in and kiss his nephew's forehead, and then let the tablecloth drop and go find his sister so she knows where Tommy is]

Laura: [is already looking so when she sees her brother she sighs] I lost the ring bearer.

Derek: He's taking a nap under my table. I promised him I would wake him up when it was time for cake.

Laura: [sighs] I'm surprised he made it that far.

Derek: It's been a busy day.

Laura: It has. But a good day though.

Derek: Yeah. [and the DJ goes to announce the Daddy/Daughter dance and Derek watches a moment, sighing] You think Mom would have loved her?

Laura: [smiles softly as Kate goes off to dance with her dad] Yeah. I think she would've.

Derek: [nods, smiling] Thanks.

Laura: Of course. [leans in to give him a kiss on the cheek] You did good, kid.

Derek: Yeah, I never thought I'd have this.

Laura: Guess things do work out in the end, huh?

Derek: I guess so.

Laura: Now all we have to do is get Cora and Peter married and we can be done with weddings for a while.

Derek: We have odds on who will go first?

Laura: I think it will be age before beauty.

Derek: I'm going with the recklessness of youth.

Laura: Would you like to make a wager?

Derek: Money or babysitting?

Laura: Is offering babysitting your concession that I am going to win? As you have no babies for me to sit?

Derek: Who said I'm not going to start stockpiling them for then the time comes, hmm?

Laura: There's a statute of limitations on my babysitting services.

Derek: Fine, then money.

Laura: Money it is.

Derek: Hundred bucks.

Laura: [holds out her hand] Done.

Derek: [shakes it as the daddy/daughter dance ends.]

Castle: Now, we all know that the Hale siblings lost their parents which is how they came to live with all of us in New York. So, in honor of that, I first thought it was fitting for Derek to dance with Peter. I was quickly voted out on that, so Derek, get on the dance floor and Laura, Cora, and Malia, you each get a third of the song to dance with him.

Laura: That sounds incredibly complicated.

Castle: Not my fault there are three of you.

Laura: How about Derek picks one and we leave it at that?

Derek: Oh like that will go over well. You three pick.

Malia: [shrugs] I don't care.

Cora: [shrugs as well] It's your wedding.

Derek: Fine, then age before beauty. [smirks and holds his hand out to Laura]

Laura: [laughs, before shaking her head and heading out with him]

Derek: [and he will gently waltz around the dance floor with her]

Laura: [so cute. and she's happy to let him lead]

Derek: I do wish Mom could have been here.

Laura: Me too.

Derek: [and they will dance until the song is done, and then he will kiss his sister's cheek]

Laura: [and she'll return it before heading back to find her husband]

Esposito: [is at the bar drinking with the rest of the cops]

Laura: Having fun boys?

Esposito: Of course. Open bars don't just pop up everyday girl.

Laura: I wouldn't know. I never really noticed them in the first place.

Ryan: Normally we have to pay for drinks.

Jordan: So a few free drinks is a good thing.

Laura: Duly noted.

Castle: You want something, Laura?

Laura: [she shakes her head] Just wanted to see what you all were up to.

Esposito: [goes to pull her close, kissing her quickly] Where's the munchkin?

Laura: Derek put him to sleep under his table. He promised to wake him up for cake.

Esposito: Aw, that's cute.

Laura: Yeah. I figure we'll let him sleep it off and save him some cake for tomorrow.

Esposito: Sounds like a good plan.

Laura: But, I was hoping I could steal you for a dance.

Esposito: We can. These boys can see how it's done.

Laura: Good. [she grins and holds her hand out for his]

Esposito: [and he will take it, going to the dance floor with the intention of showing off]

Laura: [which she will let him do because it never fails to make her laugh]

Ryan: [she's not the only one laughing as they guys watch]

Esposito: [and he will pull her in close] Having fun?

Laura: I am. They planned a good wedding.

Esposito: They deserve a good one.

Laura: They do.

Esposito: [spins his wife a bit]

Laura: [leans into it before she pulls closer again] Do you ever wish we had a big wedding?

Esposito: Nah. I'm happy with what we had. You?

Laura: Absolutely. Just double checking.

Esposito: [leans in to kiss her] I would never change a single moment with you.

Laura: Even the ones where I was impossible to live with? [like that time she kinda broke up with you when her sisters were missing]

Esposito: .... [acts like he's thinking real hard]

Laura: [there's a look]

Esposito: [laughs] Yeah, even then. Cause it reminded me how much I loved you.

Laura: Good.

Esposito: [and he will just kiss her again to remind her of that]

Laura: [and she will happily kiss him back, sliding one arm around his neck]

Esposito: [and he will lean back after a bit, smirking] So how long we have until they cut that cake?

Laura: I don't know. Castle apparently isn't letting me in on the plans.

Esposito: Maybe we can ask Martha?

Laura: Why do you want to know?

Esposito: So we can take our son home and I'm feeling just a bit romantic.

Laura: Oh really?

Esposito: It is a wedding.

Laura: That is very true.

Esposito: And I'm still kinda said we never really did a honeymoon. Which we need to get on.

Laura: I agree.

Esposito: Think we can find a babysitter? I got the sick leave.

Laura: Maybe. Malia would probably do it if we asked.

Esposito: Throw in free Jeremy can help.

Laura: Or we could always take him with us? Family vacation?

Esposito: Disneyland?

Laura: Yeah. That'd be fun.

Esposito: We could go when Cora's home for break. She and Stiles can hold down the fort.

Laura: That sounds perfect.

Esposito: Good, I'll check the work detail and find us a vacation time.

Laura: Good. [she smiles] I think we all could use the break.

Esposito: I agree.

Laura: So cake, then home, then we start planning a trip to Disneyland.

Esposito: That's the plan.

Laura: So let's go find out the time table.

Esposito: Lead away, bonita.

Laura: [and off they go to find Martha who triggers cake proceedings, and they get their cake and Tommy and head back to the penthouse to put him to bed]

Esposito: [and then he will guide Laura to their bedroom and get that dress off her]

Laura: [which she will be more than happy to help him with, as well as getting him out of his suit]

Esposito: [and there will be a lot of "romance" going on]

Laura: [yep. lots and lots of "romance" since they aren't getting as much of that lately]

Esposito: [and are they having safe romance?]

Laura: [that depends on how old Tommy is and if they want to try again for a second one, but she rolled a 12 so she can go either way]

Esposito: [talking in sentences would put him in the 2's]

Laura: [so yeah, they could have started trying again]

Esposito: [oh yeah, bb]

Laura: [and 47 says no baby this time]

Esposito: [oh well, it was still a good time]

Laura: [yep, and they ended a night on a very happy note]
