Cora: [notices that and Claudia is out, but she's not the type to be nosy about it anyway. she's just sitting cross legged on her bed, staring at the wallet Peter had given her and trying to figure out what to do with it]
Sheriff: [and he will set the box down under a table for later, and then go check to see who's home] Hello, Cora.
Cora: [glances up with a small smile] Hi. It's just me. Claudia went out.
Sheriff: So it's just us. Have you eaten yet?
Cora: [she shakes her head]
Sheriff: Come on, I'll make us something that will hopefully not kill either of us.
Cora: Sounds good. [and she'll slowly get up to follow, as she's tiny and got almost a bowling ball hanging on her center of gravity]
Sheriff: I think I have everything for spaghetti.
Cora: I love spaghetti.
Sheriff: Good.
Cora: Anything I can do to help?
Sheriff: Why don't you tell me about your day while I cook.
Cora: [she shrugs, but will go and slide onto a chair while he cooks] I went to see Peter.
Sheriff: [nods] I heard about his return from Scott.
Cora: [she nods] He's in bad shape, but he's my uncle, so it's probably important I remember him.
Sheriff: Yeah, though probably not the best of memories for your siblings.
Cora: No. Probably not. [a beat] He gave me something. Says it has Stiles' picture in it.
Sheriff: They really don't know when to stop, do they?
Cora: [she looks up at him, and rakes her teeth over her bottom lip] Apparently when you see the person, even if it's just a picture, you remember them. I didn't want to, but ... I guess if you wanted to know for sure, it's there.
Sheriff: I'm not sure I want to either.
Cora: I'd just rather not remember if he doesn't come back.
Sheriff: I'd rather not have to put Claudia through all of this.
Cora: [nods, then ...] You don't think she'd want to know? It'd be her kid too.
Sheriff: I've watched Claudia tear apart our bedroom looking for an earring. If she felt she had lost a kid...
Cora: [she nods, before looking up at him] And it's better not to know so you're not lying to her?
Sheriff: Or to have it not be true in the end and end up just getting hopes up.
Cora: I don't have a lot of hopes to get up anymore. I just don't want to be grieving again.
Sheriff: And I don't want you doing that either.
Cora: I don't think Scott gets that.
Sheriff: I think Scott thinks he's helping by giving us someone he thinks we need.
Cora: Scott, yes. [a beat] But Peter?
Sheriff: Cora, your uncle is a sociopath. Whatever he does, it's always about him in the end.
Cora: [a beat, before she nods] I guess you're right.
Sheriff: Of course I am. [small smile as he goes to drain the pasta]
Cora: I just wish I wasn't in the middle of this.
Sheriff: You and me both. Weren't you thinking of getting out of town and away from this.
Cora: [she nods] I'm trying to convince Derek to come with me.
Sheriff: Think he will?
Cora: I don't know. I don't think he wants to abandon Scott.
Sheriff: Ah.
Cora: Peter thinks we should go though.
Sheriff: ... Well, you should do what you want - whether Derek goes or not. It's your life, Cora.
Cora: I don't know what I want right now.
Sheriff: [puts a bowl of spaghetti in front of her] Except for dinner.
Cora: [smiles a bit at that] Definitely spaghetti.
Sheriff: [and he will go to sit across from her and add a way too unhealthy amount of cheese to the top of his]
Cora: [sighs when she sees that] If you just wanted parmesan cheese you should have made yourself that.
Sheriff: I tried to put it in the sauce once and ended up making this clumpy mess because it melts. [grins] And for some reason, I'm not a fan of alfredo sauce.
Cora: [she laughs] I see.
Sheriff: At least my noodles won't break teeth anymore.
Cora: There is that.
Sheriff: Oh, I should warn you that Claudia's having the contractor over to fix the wallpaper problems in the house, including in the guest room you're in. It's probably going to smell bad for a day or two after, but I'll try and keep the windows open.
Cora: [she nods] I can stay at Derek's while it's getting done.
Sheriff: You may want to grab your stuff too so that the scent doesn't linger.
Cora: [she nods] I'll just come back when it's done.
Sheriff: Good. Because it wouldn't feel like home without you here.
Cora: [she smiles a bit at that, looking down at her spaghetti] Thanks.
Sheriff: [and soon he will be done] Want any more?
Cora: [she shakes her head] No, I'm good. I should probably go get my stuff together.
Sheriff: Let me know if you need any help or a ride.
Cora: [she nods] I will. [but she won't. she'll just pack up her stuff and take a nice long walk home. but she will leave the wallet behind, just in case he changes his mind]
Sheriff: [which will lead the Sheriff to check the room for anything she may have left behind and he will peel the wallpaper on the wall back... and cue 6x07!]
