potus } { of honeymoons and future plans

Allison: [Allison has never been this isolated from the rest of the world in her entire life. Her family has always been in the public eye, in one form or another, and at this particular moment in time, the only person around is her husband. The rest is trees and animals and blessed silence, and she isn't entirely sure what to do with herself. She feels Derek's arms wrap around her as she watches the mountains through the window, and she leans back against him with a smile] Is it weird that I'm not even anxious about the lack of cell phone reception?

Derek: [he smiled and kissed her shoulder as he enjoyed the view with her] Not in the least. If you were, it would be because I was failing to keep you otherwise occupied and distracted.

Allison: No, you have definitely been succeeding at that. [she grins, tipping up to look at him] I just don't think I've been this alone in my entire life.

Derek: Isn't it wonderful?

Allison: I could definitely get used to it.

Derek: [nuzzling her neck] So what shall we do today, my beautiful bride?

Allison: [hums softly as she turns to face him] We could go for a walk? [she doesn't sound like she's one hundred percent committed to the idea, but she feels like she gives some variety of options]

Derek: You know, a walk might be nice.

Allison: We could go down to the lake?

Derek: Might be nice and warm. Go swimming?

Allison: Sure. We probably shouldn't spend the entire honeymoon in the cabin. Tempting as that may be.

Derek: I could quickly make a picnic lunch for us to take.

Allison: Then I will grab the towels and get changed.

Derek: But first this. [and he will pull her close and kiss her]

Allison: [hums softly as she leans in to kiss him back pushing up on her toes so that she can lean closer]

Derek: [so much kissing. lots of kissing and gentle touching]

Allison: [well, honestly this is where she wanted to start in the first place, and if he keeps his hands wandering, their trip to the lake might be delayed a little]

Derek: [no, not delayed. He has control. For now. Later in the woods not so much]

Allison: [oh ho ho. but since she doesn't know of his woods plans, she's just going to pout when he pulls away] Tease.

Derek: Just a warm up for later.

Allison: [sighs] Then I'm going to go change and you should finish making lunch. [and she pulls away to go do that] Guess I'll have to put on my own sunscreen.

Derek: [smirks and goes to make that picnic lunch. Finger foods. Fruit. Cheese. easy stuff]

Allison: [and she will go put sunscreen on because her skin is delicate and then get dressed and pack various beach things before handing him the sunscreen as she returns to the kitchen] Don't forget.

Derek: I won't. [and he will head off to change and apply sunscreen]

Allison: [and off they will go to the lake! which really is quite lovely so it's good they went and saw it in person at least once]

Derek: [yup, and he will set up a blanket on the grass and pull his wife down gently to join him]

Allison: [which she will, settling in to get comfortable]

Derek: [and they can get back to what he started by the window]

Allison: [giggles as he pulls her closer] Didn't you promise your mother that you would be on your best behavior? [pauses to kiss him] In case of drones?

Derek: [and he lowered his head] Touche.

Allison: [she laughs] For the record, I'm not opposed. We just need to be careful.

Derek: Yeah, well google earth is always watching.

Allison: The marvels of modern technology. [she pauses as she leans closer] We could always wait until later. When it's less ... sunny?

Derek: We could.

Allison: We'd just have to wait ... [she glances down to her watch] Six more hours.

Derek: Maybe we should take a swim?

Allison: That sounds like fun. [and they will have some wet and wild fun while waiting for the sun to go down]

Derek: [and there will totally be underwater kisses]

Allison: [of course. they're behaving not dead]

Derek: [and they can enjoy the sunset while eating the meal he packed]

Allison: [and once it's dark enough, she'll pull him a little bit further into the woods, where she's sure the shadows will cover them]

Derek: [finally!]

Allison: [she laughs as she leans in to kiss him] You know we could have done this a lot sooner if we just stayed inside.

Derek: You wanted to do something different. This is different.

Allison: It is very different. I'm not complaining. Just commenting.

Derek: [flips her over to be under him] Mmm, maybe I just need to occupy that mouth for a bit. [and he will kiss her deeply]

Allison: [she laughs but kisses him back eagerly, sinking under him and shifting a little to get comfortable]

Derek: [and there will be some definite rumbling in the jungle]

Allison: [which will be fun for all parties involved, and means they can just stretch out in the moonlight for a little while when they're finished]

Derek: [yeah, holding her in his arms, staring at the stars. just about perfect]

Allison: [she hums as she curls closer] So you know what we forgot to talk about before we got married?

Derek: ....... No.

Allison: When we wanted to start having kids. [because they covered the yes, they're going to do it, but hadn't worked out the actual logistics]

Derek: [and those are widening eyes because... now?] Uh... when you wanted to? I mean, it's your body. You should get to decide what time works best for you.

Allison: [yeah, well, at least she didn't bring it up before?] Relax. I'm still on birth control. But ... I don't know. My dad said something at the wedding about not rushing into it.

Derek: [and he will shift to look at her better] Allison, I think we'll just know when we're ready. No rushing into it, but it's also not a box we need to check off by a certain time.

Allison: [... biologically speaking that's not necessarily the case, but he's not wrong either. she's trying not to be her normal type-a self about this] I know. I just ... was curious your thoughts.

Derek: [nods his head slowly] Well, when we do, I'd at least like Mom to no longer be in office. That way we aren't swarmed by paparazzi.

Allison: [that gives a timeline! which makes your type A wife relax a bit because good! this is timeline she can work with] So two years?

Derek: At least, yes. What about you? is there anything with your grandfather you want to wait past to keep our first kid from becoming political news?

Allison: Nothing you can really plan for. My grandfather is of the opinion that he can give up his political aspirations when he's dead.

Derek: Fun times. [groans]

Allison: Yep. But once your mom is out of office we could always move.

Derek: True, but what about your family? I mean, California is a long way from here.

Allison: Most of my family is in Texas and we are wealthy enough that they can afford a plane ticket if they want to see me. Besides, the family members that spend most of their time in DC are the ones I don't want to see anyway.

Derek: [smiles at that] Alright then. And we have long enough time to decide where we want to live and decorate it.

Allison: Yes we do. I'd still like it to be somewhere where I can do the same work but thankfully there are plenty of cities for that. [she shifts to rest her head against his shoulder] What about New York? Laura's already there, and Cora's talked about going to MIT - you'd get to be close to both of them.

Derek: There is that. And while it'd be nice, part of me thinks maybe we'd want to be close to at least one set of parents. especially for the kids.

Allison: Do you know if your mom is for sure planning on going back to California?

Derek: No, I don't. I haven't thought to ask.

Allison: Well we can wait and see what they're going to do. Since everyone else seems northeast centric, maybe they'll stay on the East Coast.

Derek: Maybe. [looks at her] Do you want to live in New York?

Allison: New York has plenty for me to throw myself into work-wise. Maybe not right in the city, because I do kind of want a house and a yard, but somewhere close enough for me to commute easily.

Derek: I'm sure Laura might know of a few of those places

Allison: Yeah. I think it would be nice. [looks up at him with a smile] But LA could also work just as well, if we decide to do West Coast. Or San Francisco.

Derek: Could also look in Boston.

Allison: We could. Or Seattle.

Derek: Ooo, Seattle. Land of coffee and bookstores.

Allison: So we have options. Once you figure out what your mom is doing, we can make real decisions.

Derek: And once we figure out where we're going to live, then we can plan out the next step.

Allison: We have forward momentum. That's good. And until we figure that out, we can just ... have fun.

Derek: Practice does make perfect.

Allison: It does. Though I do think we are pretty good at this already.

Derek: Me too. [and he leans in to kiss her]

Allison: [sighs as she kisses him back and they probably sink into another round in the woods]

Derek: [of course. Why waste the moment?]

Allison: [and eventually they will make their way back to the cabin, because sadly his new wife is not in the moment enough to fall asleep in the woods]

Derek: [he's not fan either, plus they need to shower before crawling back into bed]

Allison: [exactly. but eventually they will and sleep contently in their quiet cabin in the woods]
