spamalot } { of pie stealing and baby time

Allison: [Allison is perfectly fine. It's her second baby so she has a bit more of an idea of what to expect this time around, so when she starts to feel the starts of contractions, she doesn't worry about it. They're not close enough to be worrying, and if Ryan is any indication, probably a false alarm. There's no reason to panic, so she doesn't say anything, just goes with Scott and Ryan to dinner, and spends time with family.

This baby has taken her ability to think rationally, her ability to not be a spontaneous sobbing mess and her figure. She's not letting it take her pie.

Unfortunately, it's right when they're about to sit down to pie that she realizes that this isn't a false alarm. This is actually happening. Her hand finds Scott's as he settles into the seat next to her, Ryan on his lap and speaks very quietly as to not alarm the other werewolves in the room.]
Scott, my contractions are five minutes apart.

Melissa: [happens to be coming by with pie at the time, and turns to her daughter-in-law like she has two heads] I'm sorry, what?

Chris: [nope, you have his attention now too because Melissa giving Allison that look isn't a good thing.] Allison?

Scott: [and his eyes just open very, very wide because why did you not tell him this an hour ago?!] Okay, we should probably go then. [trying to keep his voice just as calm because of Ryan. that's the reason we're being calm, right? Not to upset the toddler...]

Allison: [no, we're being calm because it's fine, and THERE WAS PIE INVOLVED. And she's still going to miss it. Sob.] Go get the car? [and when he leaves, she glances back to Melissa as she looks at the pie] Do you think I could get this to go?

Melissa: [reaches over to take her grandson and is trying not to laugh because it really isn't funny, but at the same time, she really shouldn't be surprised] I think that can be arranged. [tosses Chris a look that his daughter is insane]

Ryan: [just very confused] What's happening?

Melissa: Nothing, sweetie, your parents just have to go to the hospital.

Ryan: [very loudly] IS IT BABY TIME?

Chris: [is up and going to help his daughter while Scott is running out the door to get the car he is so glad that they have the overnight bag in the trunk already.] Do you want me to come with you, sweetheart?

Stiles: [looks up at Ryan's proclamation and blinks] Oh wow. Um... anything I can do to help?

Isaac: [to Stiles] You really don't want to ask that, you know.

Allison: [shakes her head] Nah, we've got it. [they've done this before. No big deal. She's just grabbing her pie and slowly easing up onto her feet]

Melissa: [is really just trying not to laugh] At least you're taking it better than when this one was born.

Stiles: Wait... she's taking the pie...

Isaac: [pushes Stiles back in the seat] Don't. trust me.

Dina: [is peeking out hearing Ryan, and starts to run in but the Sheriff nabs her and lifts her up onto his hip] Grandpa, is Auntie Allison okay?

Sheriff: Yes, she is. She's just going to have a baby.

Dina: I thought babies came from the store.

Sheriff: [looks over his shoulder at Stiles]

Stiles: [just shrugs] it was all I could think of at the time!

Jason: [dying silently of laughter]

Talia: [and Cora are not much better, Talia is smirking into her wine glass and Cora is using one hand to cover her laughter] Want me to take him? [him being Ryan]

Melissa: [sighs as she hands off her grandson to Talia] Please. I should call the hospital and give them a heads up.

Chris: [is still going to hover over his daughter as he helps her out to the car. He probably is going to follow them shortly after they leave in case Melissa wants to go]

Sheriff: Okay, I'm not even going to go there right now, but honey, your daddy is going to tell you about where real babies come from, okay? [and he's moving over to give Dina to Stiles and Talia, please share the wine with him]

Dina: [looks up at her daddy, waiting for the story]

Stiles: Um..... [help him, please. Someone PLEASE help him]

Talia: [yep, she's already topping off your glass, Sheriff, no worries]

Ryan: [wriggles out of Talia's grasp and darts towards the door after his grandfather who is hopefully coming up the porch in time to catch him so that he can wave after the retreating headlights] BYE DADDY DON'T FORGET MY BROTHER OR SISTER.

Malia: [... really, Stiles?] Dina, when a mommy and daddy love each other a lot, and are married - usually - eventually they'll decide to have a baby. When they do, the baby will grow inside the mommy until they're ready to come out.

Chris: [yeah, no child is running into the driveway. He chuckles though, carrying Ryan back inside at the tail end of the explination.] Your daddy won't forget, kiddo.

Sheriff: [this is why he likes you, Talia.] Thanks.

Stiles: [thank you, Malia. So much better than what he was trying to make up in his head]

Dina: So babies are magic in mommies tummies? But what happens when they eat? Doesn't the baby get in the way?

Ryan: [settles easily into his grandfather's arms] I just want to make sure.

Talia: [nods in agreement before taking a sip of her own]

Malia: Nope. Because the mommy has to feed the baby too.

Dina: And how does the baby get out then? [serious questions]

Malia: When the baby's ready to come out, the mommy and daddy go to the hospital and the doctor takes the baby out. [they ... do not need to explain the process of labor to a four year old.]

Dina: Oh. Does it hurt? Daddy's taken splinters out of me and it hurts sometimes, but he kisses it and makes it better. Will Uncle Scott make it better after, or does the doctor do that?

Stiles: [looks over at his father]

Sheriff: You were just as bad, son. [makes a toast over at his son with the wine glass as Stiles makes a face at him]

Malia: It does hurt, but it's more like the baby makes it better after, but I'm sure Uncle Scott helps. [there's a beat] And I guess the doctor does too, because they'll give Aunt Allison medicine to help it hurt less.

Dina: [nods, thinking this over in her almost 4 year old head before she looks up at Stiles] Daddy, can I have a new mommy so you can make me a baby sister?

Stiles: [deer in headlights] Wow... um... I'll add it to my to do list, sweetie. Okay?

Cora: [yeah, Cora will be taking a loooooooong sip of her wine over here. Thankfully Dina is facing away from her to Stiles and Malia so she doesn't see that reaction.]

Dina: I'm gonna ask Santa for a new mommy. [nods, firm decision made] Can I have cookies now?

Stiles: Yes! You can have cookies. Come on, I'll give you and Ryan all the cookies you two want. [moves to stand up]

Ryan: [is SO IN for cookies, put him down grandpa, put him down!]

Malia: [just smirks over at her cousin and doesn't say anything else]

Cora: [please stop.]

Chris: [puts Ryan down and lets him go with Stiles and Dina back into the kitchen and reaches for his wine.]

Isaac: [no, is also smirking too at you, Cora. Don't you miss when he wasn't a wolf and couldn't smell all the things?]

Sheriff: Well, at least we know Dina's bounced back from the divorce well. [laughs]

Cora: [she hates you both, leave her alone]

Talia: [laughs as well] At least there's that.

Melissa: [is off the phone with a sigh, before glancing to Chris] We should go. [then over to her husband] Are you good to take him home? [him being Ryan]

Sheriff: Yeah, just leave me a car seat so I have something to tie him down in later while he's on a sugar high.

Chris: Thank you, Talia. It's been wonderful, as always.

Isaac: [just leans over and takes Malia's hand, squeezing it knowingly. He loves you, and everything is finally getting right again in their world]

Talia: [she smiles and nods as well] It was nice having you, Chris.

Melissa: [grabs her coat to follow him out] I'll try and salvage some of the pie, but I make no promises.

Malia: [just inches closer to him, linking her fingers together and resting her head against his shoulder]

Chris: It's my daughter. She will have that pie plate on her stomach in the delivery room.

Jason: I feel so sorry for whoever her doctor is. [because you're not supposed to eat while in active labor for reasons]

Stiles: [returns and instantly is going for a wine refill]

Melissa: [sighs before shaking her head. She knows.] I'll do my best.

Cora: [will just nudge the bottle over to him as she takes another sip of hers]

Stiles: [mouths that he's oh so sorry to Cora as he pours and sits back again]

Isaac: [chuckles and turns his head to kiss his wife's cheek.]

Cora: [ she shakes her head. It's not his fault. Dina's just four.]

Laura: [ has just been sitting back and watching the chaos] Derek and Peter are going to be pissed they missed this.

Thomas: [so has he] I'm pretty sure Derek is in a world of his own with that tiny little one he's been holding. Peter, on the other hand, will want to be filled in.

Stiles: Can we leave out the whole awkward toddler questions?

Malia: But that was the best part. [smirks]

Stiles: [mutters into his wine] I hate all of you [only he totally doesn't. all the other men are laughing]

Cora: [understands the sentiment. Her hand is finding his under the table and giving it a soft squeeze]

Talia: [sighs a bit as she gets up] I'm going to make some coffee. I think we'll need it.

Thomas: I think the football game will be starting soon. I'll go set it up in the living room. [moves to get up]

Sheriff: I'll come help you with that.

Stiles: [looks over at her and smiles, squeezing her hand back]

Cora: [exhales slowly as she turns to face him] I need some air. Wanna go for a walk?

Stiles: Sure. There's enough people here to watch the kids. [gets up and finishes his glass of wine]

Cora: [finishes her own before making their way out from behind the table and heading to the back door, telling Talia where they're going on their way out]

Stiles: [went to grab both their jackets and puts hers over her shoulders as they walk out together] Just another reminder why my dad calls Dina "revenge."

Cora: [laughs a bit as she slips her arms inside] I think pretty much every parent calls their grandchildren that.

Stiles: Yeah, I just wish he was a little less smug about it. I wasn't nearly that bad to him.

Cora: [raises her eyebrows at him with a bit of a smirk] You sure about that?

Stiles: I was a little hyper. I was a complete angel. [no, he knows he was that bad and he's smirking too]

Cora: [she laughs] Until you fell in love with a werewolf and forced him to change his entire world view.

Stiles: Well, he's better for it now. I mean, his closing rate on cases has gone up significantly.

Cora: That's good. [she waits until they're a decent distance away from the house before tugging on his hand gently, pulling him closer and leaning in for a kiss] Happy Thanksgiving.

Stiles: [he's gotten very comfortable with her stolen kisses like this, and his arms just go to wrap around her, kissing her back easily] Happy Thanksgiving. [and he kisses her again]

Cora: [mmm, good. She's just going to stand there and kiss him back for a bit, her hands moving to rest against his forearms as she moves closer]

Stiles: [he could stay out there all evening, to be honest. I mean, really, kissing her tends to be on the top of his priority list since they are living lives where seeing each other daily is still not a given]

Cora: [she hates that too. It also doesn't help that the time they're seeing each other tends to be around her family, and ... well, they're them. Getting alone time where the only thing she has to focus on is kissing him is rare, and she's going to take advantage of that all she can.]

Stiles: [so after they get out a good amount of kissing] So, just for the record.... not asking you to give into Dina's demands for a sibling until you're good and ready. [chuckles]

Cora: [she chuckles softly at that, staying close] Good. But I wouldn't be opposed to lots of practice.

Stiles: I'm very fond of the practicing myself. Though now I'm kinda thinking you need to appear under the Christmas tree in a bow with a "For Stiles" tag on.

Cora: [she laughs] I don't think so. But I am very tempted to just have our date tomorrow be you and me alone in our apartment all day.

Stiles: When’s Lydia due back?

Cora: Sunday.

Stiles: Well, I should probably at least visit my brother and sister in law at the hospital somewhere along the way, but I don't think it'll be hard to find a babysitter.

Cora: [she nods] Good. It's a date. [with him, her and her bed.]

Stiles: [and pie. He is so hunting down pie at the supermarket because Allison using her "I'm going into labor and taking the whole pie" card wasn't fair] So I think everyone's aware at this point that we're back together again. They look happy about it too...

Cora: [yes, good. Her three favorite things, all in one place] Yeah. Seems like it. [she tips her head to the side a bit, trying to figure out where this is going]

Stiles: I was just worried they'd think we were jumping back in too fast.

Cora: Oh. [she wrinkles her nose a bit] I think most of them think this was a long time coming.

Stiles: Malia and Isaac could be a little less smirky about it.

Cora: Malia and Isaac could be less smirky about a lot of things.

Stiles: Yeah, but they will soon have their hands full so we won't need to worry too much longer about them being overly involved in our lives.

Cora: Here's hoping. [she could really do with getting her cousin off her back]

Stiles: Well, let's just say that Isaac said if she isn't pregnant by Christmas, he was doing something very wrong and leave it at that.

Cora: I've got my fingers crossed. [though she really does want it to happen for Malia sooner rather than later for non-selfish reasons, it still would be handy in getting her off Cora's back]

Stiles: So many little ones going to be running around this place.

Cora: Yeah, but my mom loves it. [she leans a bit closer, letting her head rest against his shoulder as her arms slide around his waist] I think she got a little lonely with the house empty.

Stiles: I remember her saying that. I think that's why she likes having me and Dina around. Gives her someone to dote on. [Dina, not him.]

Cora: [she nods a bit] It's been good for her. My dad too.

Stiles: The one thing Dina is really good at is bringing joy into people's lives.

Cora: Yeah, she is. [gives him a bit of a squeeze] Reminds me of her dad.

Stiles: See, you're biased on that. [but he's grinning just the same]

Cora: I think other people would agree with me.

Stiles: Well, hopefully not in the same way [he runs his thumb along her jaw] Because that could get awkward quickly.

Cora: [hums softly as she tips her head into his touch] Probably. But still.

Stiles: Right now, I'm just focused on making you happy. [smiles down at her]

Cora: [she smiles back before pushing up on her toes to kiss him again] I think you're doing an excellent job.

Stiles: Good to know. [and nope, just going to keep kissing her, eventually pushing her up against a tree to help with balance]

Cora: [there's a soft moan as her back hits the tree, using the leverage to keep her there as one hand slides up his chest]

Stiles: [seeing that it was the middle of a holiday family dinner and they had their plans for the double date with her bed and a pie, he wasn't going to go any further than kissing. But the memories from their teenage years in the forest made him smile into the kiss as he pressed closer]

Cora: [yeah, she's not pushing anything, really. She just wants to kiss him, a lot, and try not to think about the night of her sister's wedding at the same time]

Stiles: [after a while, he realizes just how cold it actually was] We should probably head back.

Cora: [sighs softly as he pulls away] Probably.

Stiles: We'll make up for it tomorrow?

Cora: [she nods with a smile] Sounds good.

Stiles: I love you. [kiss]

Cora: I love you too.

Stiles: [grins, then takes her hand and reluctantly steps away from the tree, pulling her with him]

Cora: [she goes with him, equally reluctantly, and they head back to the house]
