Ben was back from the latest hunt and while the bunker was far from home, it was starting to feel familiar and comfortable. He had finally claimed a room away from the observatory, and was even in a generally good mood these days - a far cry from the man that had arrived in this world six months prior.
No one could say he didn't adapt quickly, even if it was a quick learning curve to remember that life was like in a world not ravaged by an apocalypse. Most of his views on life were from his ten year old perspective, but Lindsay and Sam had helped him with the things he didn't get.
Having gotten in late that night, he had gone to crash in his bed almost immediately. When he woke up, he could hear voices in the main area and smell food, but he didn't go to join the rest of the family just yet. He needed a shower badly, and there was a sore feeling in his side that he figured was just some injury catching up to him since the ghoul he had been hunting down had given him a good fight.
The warm water on his face was refreshing and he just stood there soaking in the warmth. It soon got too hot though, and Ben went to turn down the water temperature... only that didn't stop it. He watched in confusion as he saw the now cold water hit his skin and steam rise off it.
"What the...?" he went to shut the water off when the pain in his side came again and he tried to bite back to yelp of pain. He stumbled out of the shower - water still going - and looked in the mirror at his face to find that his eyes where glowing. He blinked, trying to turn off the grace, but it wasn't cooperating. The pain came again, bringing him to his knees and he couldn't help but open his mouth to scream at the feeling.
Only it wasn't a human scream that came out. Instead, it was the glass shattering noise of an angel trying to communicate and in a matter of seconds both the shower door and mirror exploded - as well as every light bulb in the room - and rained glass down on him as he held his side in pain, the tattoos under his fingers all but pulsing with the power trapped inside.
Through the rest of the bunker, lights would flicker and anyone close enough to the bedrooms would hear the angel interference and notice a few of the light bulbs near the bathroom had exploded as well.
